Una go just dey quote wetin una no understand.
How was that a lawful order? A case that is 100% civil is the one you are bringing soldiers to intimidate everyone instead of going to the court.

Is the said piece of land a military property?

Sending your military boys to chase away and beat up anyone that comes near a piece of land that you have no title to is called trespassing and AM Yerima was trespassing on that land if you are to look at the legality of the situation.

Keep encouraging military impunity just because you hate Wike... No worry E go reach your turn.
I will repeat: Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima was following orders, that is his job.

He was not sent there to play property lawyer or adjudicate land disputes.

Expecting him to question the legality of every instruction he receives is naive at best, insubordination at worst.

The Ex-CNS may have abused influence to get personnel deployed, but that does not make the lieutenant guilty of wrongdoing.

Military duty is about execution, not judgment, and confusing the two is a civilian mistake that keeps getting repeated.

The military operates under a different legal framework from civilians. Active-duty personnel are primarily governed by military codes, such as the Armed Forces Act in Nigeria.

Ahmed Yerima was on active duty, following orders from a superior was exactly what he was required to do.

Let us use an analogy: imagine you were a child, and your father or mother told you not to let anyone into the house when they were not around.
Now suppose a property lawyer shows up to check the property. Would you just let the person in because they claim to be the lawyer?

An obedient child would not. The parent gave clear instructions, do not let anyone in.

The child does not concern themselves with whether the building is leased or owned, or whether the lawyer is doing their job.

All the child knows is that it is the parent's house, and no one is allowed inside without permission.

Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima did exactly what he was supposed to.

Then Babaginda can give order to military men then, the way some of you twist logic on its head makes it shudder if it is not a case of severe malnutrition as a kid with impaired neuron generation.
This is a case of failing to comprehend, misinterpreting, and then jumping straight to a malformed assumption.

Retired officers dont issue orders, but pretending they have zero influence just exposes how sentimental and shallow your reasoning really is.

One call, one loyal subordinate, and protocols bend, there is zero twist in this logic.

I am may believe you never did well in reasoning comprehension during the early stages of your education, which faults the foundation of your thinking. If true, which is highly likely, it explains the very weak argument you produce with the simile.

Resorting to childish insults about malnutrition and impaired neurons does not substitute for reasoning. In fact, it only highlights the shallowness of your argument. You are trying to ridicule what you cannot grasp, and that is telling.

I assume you may not be able to comprehend the above as well so I will say this: I never said the Ex-chief of Naval staff gave orders.
PoliticsRe: Ex-Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Gambo Was Scammed — Lere Olayinka by 99thEnemy(m): 10:04pm On Nov 12, 2025
Doesn't change the fact that Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima was on his right for acting on orders from his superiors.

Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004:

1. Section 56 – Disobedience to lawful orders

“A person subject to service law who disobeys a lawful command given personally by his superior officer is guilty of an offence and liable, on conviction by a court-martial, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or any less punishment provided by this Act.”

N.B : Don't misinterpret the clause "lawful orders". The context is ambiguous in this very case.

Lawyers with the understanding of Martial Law, over to you.

This is a wrong perspective.

You don't know what you are saying. Wike was there because the president delegated authority and duty to him. Would your crap statement about military only answer to their superiors hold if the president himself was there instead of Wike? I get it because many of you don't really understand what it means to have authority and duty delegated
From a military perspective, the sailor is not wrong.

The naval officer in question, the one who denied Wike entry, was just following orders.

He has no duty to obey civilians of any status or officials outside that hierarchy.

His only duty is to his post, he is not obligated to obey or succumb to anything else.

Take enough time to read again, but this time try to comprehend.

99thEnemy:
No, it was not.

Soldiers, airmen, and sailors on duty answer only to their superiors within the military hierarchy.

Only a naval officer or sailor with higher commanding authority than the one who gave the order can override it, aside from the Chief of Defense Staff (Regardless of if the Chief is of other corp branch (Army or Airforce)) and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

If it were you, would you let him in (which constitutes insubordination) or leave (which is going AWOL), knowing either choice risks disciplinary action?

Sometimes think, just for a change.
☝🏾 ☝🏾 ☝🏾 Read this again, and try to think rationally.

Nothing bad can happen in Gambia.

Their former President that didn’t want to leave, it was IBB boys mess by Col Gwadabe that removed him and put a 27 years old J. j. Jahmeh as President. J. J. Jammeh too spent over 25 years and didn’t want to go after losing elections. All African countries, Europe and America warned him, but he refused to leave.

One day, Buhari deployed our Airforce to patrol Gambia airspace, then Buhari travelled for that his 6 months medicals. It was same night that J. J. Jammeh ran away. As a military man, he understood what it means for Buhari to deploy airforce and travel, he knows Buhari has given final orders
ECOWAS, not Nigeria (under Buhari) alone, forced Jammeh out.

Nigeria joined the regional mission as a member of ECOWAS and the only air assets involved were helicopters for patrol and support.

The kind of rubbish we see these days in the name of deliverance is unbelievable.

A pastor once prescribed crude oil (actual petroleum) for someone to use as body lotion to "repel agents of Satan." The person was told to keep using it until it finished, the amount in the bottle could easily last two years.

The kind of suffering people now endure because of pastors knows no bounds. Imagine a pastor battling subtle schizophrenia, such a person is more dangerous than the devil himself. Many of them are just sweet talkers and vision fabricators in the business of pastorpreneurship.

They lie so often that it becomes second nature. Eventually, their brains begin to register their own lies as truth.

This is the best for freelancers whose work may be exposed in ways that let a client use it without paying even before the final file is handed over.
Writers and UI/UX guys can suffer from this.

As for me, I always take at least 50% upfront. And if they refuse to pay the balance after I am done, well, let's see how they plan to deploy the code without it. cheesy

Thank God those days are gone. When dealing directly, if you can't agree to the contract I send via Google Form, you can kindly walk.

No 1 and 2, very important.
No 3 depends, there are big organisations especially international NGOs that don't pay shishi until their work is done or you have delivered the first part. These organisations pay very well, they won't stress you but they don't care about your policy, it's either you are in or you are out. Some of the consultancies I did, I spent over 2mill before my first payment. But the payment is over the roof
Large organizations, especially international NGOs or consultancies, often have strict payment policies.
It is always stated in the simple agreement or basic contract you agree to, and it is legally binding, so you have absolutely nothing to lose as long as you are up to the task.

The same protection cannot always be guaranteed with regular clients directly.

That is why some freelancers even after securing a direct client, prefer to use platforms like Upwork as intermediaries to handle payments and reduce risk

3 Types Of Clients To Avoid As A Freelaner: By Amechi Okoli

Freelancing has become a major source of livelihood for many youths in and outside Nigeria. However, just like having a regular job, it comes with its own challenges. One of which is securing the right client. So, if you're a writer, graphics designer, web developer, and the likes, here are 3 types of clients you need to avoid to ensure you have a smooth freelancing journey. Please note that if you're not competent, credible, and lack a provable track record, this post is NOT for you.

Here we go!

1. Clients Who Think They Are Doing You A Favor

Every freelancer wants clients. In fact, the more clients you have, the more money in your bank account. But look, in as much as the client is giving you money, keep it at the back of your mind that the money they pay is in exchange for the services and value you are giving them. And guess what? The value you provide actually lasts longer than the money they pay you. Therefore, do not under any circumstance allow a client believe they are doing you favors by hiring you. Because once they do, they will talk down on you, demean you, and even under-price you like roadside tomatoes.

2. Clients Who Pay Cheaply

Speaking of under-pricing, avoid clients who will beat the price of a 100k job down to 20k. From years of experience writing content for my clients in and outside Nigeria, I can tell you for free that low-paying clients are problematic, never satisfied, and don't even value their own projects, let alone your services. If they understood the power behind the services you are rendering to them, they would be willing to pay the right price. This doesn't mean you should charge exorbitantly. Be fair with your pricing and get the best possible reward for your services.

3. Clients Who Aren't Willing To Pay Advances

Here's where it gets tricky. Many clients are afraid of paying upfront because they don't trust you. And you are afraid of doing a job without an upfront because you don't trust the client. This is where your track record comes into play. It is up to you to prove to them that you are credible and trustworthy. Build your portfolio, show them what you've been up to on your social media platforms, show them all the good jobs you've done in the past, and use client testimonials to prove your authenticity and credibility. Once you do, then your advance will appear in your bank account. It might not be 100%, but at least something to get you going until the job is completed. Now, if a client refuses to give you an advance after proving all these to them, I advise you forget it and move on to the next one. Because the truth is, clients who value their projects and see the potential in it will not mind parting with some money to get the ball rolling.

Once again, you must be credible, trustworthy, and competent with a proven track record to get the right client. Deliver your best and enjoy your rewards.

Hope this has been helpful.
