I have parked my car for almost 8months now

The last time I warmed the car
The following are what I had

1- no fuel in the fuel tank (Add at least 30 litres)
2- battery is flat dead (Get a new battery)
3 - radio not working reverse camera not working (Start the car first. Let all systems boot up. If it still doesn't come on, check your fuse box for a blown fuse and replace with the same rating. Do not join wires)
4-Ac is working the last time I warmed the car .
5- exhaust is leaking (Least of your problem. Get the car started first and drive it to a panel beater to repair the exhaust)
6- I am having engine oil leak but yet to find the source of the leakage, low engine oil (Top up the oil. We can't diagnose leaking engine oil here. Only your mechanic can do that)
7- interior smells nice no dead rate .
8- front tire is flat one of them . (You have a spare I believe. Put that on and get the flat tyre to a vulcanizer to fix the source of leak and inflate to recommended pressure)

Now I want to revive the car again , what and what must I consider before starting it up, .

And there was a time I put the car on neutral to push it , it kinda stuck, so I assume it's from the break disk. Since it's parked for a long time.

Thanks for this. I just swapped the oil and filter in late November, so I still have many miles to go before needing another one. I just wanted to add 1 liter now because we experienced spillage when the mechanic changed the oil that November. He tightened the filter with a chain and crushed it in the process. I drove for some minutes before people called my attention to the leak. I just drove back to the mechanic and had the filter replaced. All good since then. But I still think about how much oil had split that day. Of course I check the level. It's not too low. It's just my careful self that wants to replace what was lost that day. Now, I think I should just leave things until It's time to drain and replace the oil entirely. 5W-20 it is. Good to hear Gazzuz' business is still going on, by the way.

Then I think I'll better change the oil with 5W-20 instead of just adding a liter. It would be bad if I added 5W-20 to an engine already containing 20w50, right?

What is your reason for wanting to add a liter of engine oil if your engine isn't burning oil?

Your vehicle should not use any oil other than fully synthetic 5w20 or 5w30 whichever is recommended. This spec of engine oil is readily available but ensure to buy from a reliable dealer.

It is also better you pay closer attention to vehicle mentainance than just hand your vehicle over to a mechanic who doesn't understand what you went through buying the car or how you raised the funds. Buy your fluids yourself & stay with them to replace your engine oil.

The cost of another engine would be a serious setback so create time for it.

If the clutch fibers are not damaged, my candid advice is to replace by the entire Valve Body hence the non-returning spring loaded plungers. DON'T FORGET TO USE TOYOTA ATF WS to replace transmission fluid.


C2 clutch is burned up.

That's an Acura but you can't compare since I'm sure you have no idea what happened to that car. That is probably an accident that involved a truck. I'm talking of lone accidents that still rendered IS250 useless.
Some months ago, some boys were driving fast at night in Ondo here. Some say they were being pursued by police, some said no one was chasing them but what I know is they crash the car into a pole and sent it tumbling a few times. That IS250 was moved to a dump site at the same location I visit when I want to repair my car. The vehicle is a write off. I looked closely and I can tell you, there is absolutely nothing that's still useful in that ride.
Before you ask, the boys didn't die but even till now, all three are still in the hospital with multiple broken bones.
Now another scenario, 4 boys, driving a benz, coming from Lagos. Met the accident along Benin road, car was hit by a truck from behind and the force sent the car tumbling several times. I met the 4 boys there, looking at the damages on the car. They are fine. Yes the car took a hit everywhere but it stood and they could still get out.

I'm however taking out the transmission again to inspect the clutch packs and their pistons. Or possible carry out a pressure or vacuum test on the feed lines to the clutches.

I last changed oil for 2016 Camry with Total Quartz 9000 0w20 last September. I have 3700 Mileage on it now, but it’s showing Maintenance Required at 3700.

Is this normal ??

I step out of Lagos searching for a reliable camry 2004. I saw many dealers on Jiji and nairaland. I visited each of them with my reliable mechanic.
After checking several cars, we discovered that none of the Nigerian used cars is worth buying .
They always have one problem or the other. The most common is bad engines.

Many dealers even promised to give my mechanic 100k behind my back to convince me to buy this melon car.

It's crazy that with 4.5 million, all you can get is a bad car.
We return home disappointed.

On getting home. I went back to check my own car that I have been driving for 5 years. My engine, gear, and ac are still in perfect condition and I wonder if those putting their car on sale are those with major problem.

Nigeria dealers have ruined the used car market.
Is this a problem with toyota or because the car is a lower year.

I didn't consider other brands. Maybe it would have been a different situation.

At the moment, we are considering buying Tokunbo direct or on installment payment in order to evade this madness in the Nigerian used car Market

I drive corolla 1.8 2005 model. Its does not start when it's hot, but easy to start whenever it's cool. For example it starts one touch in the morning. But once i drive it out of my house and get to my shop it won't start again until it's cool. Càn catalyst cause the problem?

A fwd car is prone to accident,can't take sharp bends,can't maneuver due to over steering, can't handle balance..but can speed.can fly,can't handle sudden braking.
However a back Axle aka rwd can handle any type of corner,bend,drifts,name it.pls avoid lexus fwd cars.esp es 350 with rx. .Once u slam brakes at high speed,u somersault and then u dead.

Guys please my area was flooded some months ago and water entered my car. Now the sound system is not producing sound. Electrician said that the JBL amp is burnt and can't be fixed. Pls can't the amp be repaired?.

Please I need help.

I have changed:
Radiator
Condenser
Complete fan
Radiator cover
Top gasket
Done surfacing of cylinder
Fan belt
Crankshaft sensor or so
I used coolant
Radiator hose has been checked
I changed oil and oil filter
Scanned (this brought the sensor matter)

Yet the radiator sends water to the reservoir and the reservoir is full but radiator remains empty. We have tried removing from reservoir and send to the radiator. Same thing repeats.Then the car temperature guage goes up and then comes down.

If I switch on ac temperature guage goes up and go down when I switch off.

Another thing is the car vibrates for few seconds when it’s started and then stops and it does not happen maybe till I start another time but not everyday or everytime. It’s Hyundai 2012 accent.

I am tired and depressed. I have spent a lot of funds fixing car. What could be the problem?

It won't be forced on anyone because it will be automatic issue for new Licence and renewal also. It will State your Country of origin but will carry the status of allowing you to drive anywhere in West Africa. Good idea IMO.

Will improve regional trade and reduce corruption significantly as immigration extort drivers who trsvel across West Africa ruthlessly.

You are the one who needs to educate himself. You don't know much about Autogas conversion if you say it is not true. Go to Poland and buy an OEM approved conversion kit. Then compare it with the ones bought in India, China etc.

You will see the difference in price, quality and even after sales technical support.

Mechanic changed my toyota corolla 2005 crankshaft and since then the engine sounds like that of a grinding machine. I asked him why the sudden change in sound and his replay was that the engine needs to run before the sound will stop and this is the 3rd week now, still thesame sound. Any solution?

I have a Toyota Camry 2005(automatic), bought the car as Tokunbo in January 2022. Recently decided to do a full body work which made the car spend some weeks at the panel beater/painter shop.
Before then I have been worrying if the gear oil needs changing as I have never changed the gear oil since I bought it.
Yesterday after the car was brought back, I noticed it kicked a little when I put the car in reverse, just a slight kick but changing to Drive or Neutral is smooth. It got me worried if it was normal or the gear was beginning to have issues or do I need to do the oil change?
Pls advice cause having to change gears in this economy is no easy feat.
Is the slight kick something to worry about?
Is it because the car has not been driven for a while that caused the kick ?
Do I need to change gear oil?

Your expert advice needed please.
