jjcena: In most newer vehicles, If transmission oil is changed when engine is still warm, it messes up the transmission. In your case I don't know the process of oil change. Did you try to find out if there was leakage somewhere that caused the oil level to be low
jceesquare: Coasting downhill on neutral with a manual transmission will not save you fuel but work the other way round and it's equally not safe. You need that boosted pressure from the engine for your brakes to work well, besides modern cars are designed with a fuel cut off system when coasting in gear. It's advisable to just leave the car in the appropriate gear when coasting downhill.
TheOldGods: You must really be a bad mechanic. So because of 600 naira fuel, I should start my car immediately and start driving at full speed without allowing my engine to warm up about, or even telling your clients to drive slow if they happen not to warm up. I pity those who listens to your advice. You're among those bad mechanic that fixed one and destroys 4
you are wasting fuel idling your car.
Start the car, engage drive and move. this is not Alaska.
Your engine will not grenade.
You are wasting fuel idling. Drive gently and within 5 minutes, your car would have warmed up sufficiently for you to rev shege out of it.
That engine alone has crossed the 1.5 million naira mark FYI. The engine is simply a disaster from a design standpoint. How Hyundai/Kia manage to pull the stunt of good sales is a mystery.
It is not a matter of if it will fail, it is a matter of WHEN the engine will fail.
My advice, port to any Toyota or Honda accord for peace of mind abeg.
So far, the 2015 and up engines have been known to be more reliable than the GDI in 2011 to 2013 which were known to fail.
consumer complaints for the model year he bought have mostly been about the radio and infotainment system.
Coolgent: Oga Gazzuzz i just brought myself foreign used (almost brand new) Sonata 2016 Sport Limited 2.0T. Which advise can i get from you?
Thanks
You bought a good car.
Do not use road side oils for servicing or kiss that turbo good bye and say welcome to multitude of other problems. Use the manufacturer specced oil. No allow kazeem do their normal fan things. It has been overflogged here.
Stick to manufacturers recommended maintenance intervals and you should be good.
corisande: Following First time car owner. I’m female too🙏 Got a foreign used 2007 camry 4plugs last year august. I have serviced 3 times
I saw the previous service sticker. Mobil 1 was used to service last.
First oil change i did i used mobil xhp 20w50, second oil change mechanic adviced to use Mobil 5w30 semi synthetic. I serviced last week and i used 20w50. Car is barely driven though. i have done only around 2400km since i got. My worry is which oil is best to use as I cannot find the recommended oil around me which is 5w20
Johnpaul1099: Good day house, i have the option of getting a Toks 2014 Camry Sport and a super clean Nigerian used 2020 Hyundai Sonata with 40k Miles (Was given brand new and has only been driven within Abuja). Please which will you advise i can also optimally maintain both cars
jnrcess: Fellow NL's, I currently feel devastated. I bought my first car ever in February, an Hyundai Elantra 2015. I passed by a bad spot sometime last week and after driving for over an hour with the AC on, I noticed steam was coming from my engine. To cut the story short, my electrician discovered my radiator fan was disconnected as a result of the bad spot.
Fast forward to yesterday, the fan stopped working again and I didn't notice until the car went off. Since I am inexperienced, I tried putting on the car again, and it went off after a couple of seconds. I put off the AC and drove down to a mechanic workshop, on getting there they told me the top gasket is gone.
Please is this a big deal? The car's engine has never been tempered with. As a matter of fact there is no check engine light on my dashboard.
If repaired, will the car still drive normally or I should expect a drop in performance?
Please help me, I am totally inexperienced, and I just want to know what to expect.
PS: on getting to the mechanic shop, they put so much water in the radiator, and started the car, after a short while the water was bubbling and forcing it's way through the coolant tank.
If done by an experienced mechanic and with quality parts, the engine should still serve you for a long time.
Pressure test the cooling system, replace defective components and replace the failing fan.
You should be fine.
I have come across same year and model of your car that had a similar issue in 2021 and owner is still using the car to date.
HeavenlyBang: Who told you the 2015 ES350 doesn't have those features? The fact your 3IS isn't loaded says nothing about the ES. I know for a fact that the 2015 ES350 came equipped with heated and cooled front seats, rain-sensing wipers, telescope steering controls, and auto-tilt mirrors.
Don't make blanket statements based on your purely anecdotal experience.
onlinediva: He has been busy with AUTOS AND CARTALK LIMITED => www.autosandcartalk.com, which you must have come across its sponsored adverts on Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc. That could have even prompted you to write this.
In addition, it has been a very long time you post Volvo vehicles or things about them. Has the brand shown you shege to the extent of you breaking ties with them?

olumzzz: So are you saying the only job of a coolant is its antifreeze capability? What about preventing rust, lubricating water pump, increasing boiling point, amongst others?
7bucklife: I cannot wait, its my daily car and cost of transportation only will wreck me.
