World football ruling body FIFA has banned the former president of Panamanian football federation, Ariel Alvarado for life on Thursday after finding him guilty of bribery.

Reuters reports that FIFA also fined him 500,000 Swiss francs (390,821.19 pounds).

President Donald Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday night, becoming only the third American chief executive to be formally charged under the Constitution’s ultimate remedy for high crimes and misdemeanors.

The historic vote split along party lines, much the way it has divided the nation, over a charge that the 45th president abused the power of his office by enlisting a foreign government to investigate a political rival ahead of the 2020 election.

The House then approved a second charge, that he obstructed Congress in its investigation. The articles of impeachment, the political equivalent of an indictment, now go to the Senate for trial.

If Trump is acquitted by the Republican-led chamber, as expected, he still would have to run for reelection carrying the enduring stain of impeachment on his purposely disruptive presidency.

“The president is impeached,” Pelosi declared after the vote.

President, Donald Trump took to Twitter to ask his millions of followers to say a prayer, as the House of Representatives was readying to impeach a president for only the third time in the country’s history.

The President was also rapidly retweeting supporters in the conservative media and quoted a leading Republican in Congress who denounced the impeachment process and slammed Trump’s opponents as people who “all they had was never to let him have an easy breath.”

Similarly, Trump is “frustrated” by the impeachment process against him, White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told Fox News.

“He’s frustrated, as evidenced by the letter yesterday,” she said, referring to a seething six-page letter sent by Trump to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in which he accused is opponents of waging open war and seeking to overthrow democracy.

“At the end of the day he did nothing wrong,” she said. She insisted he remained “focused” on his job as president.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on Wednesday to impeach Trump for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power related to his dealings with Ukraine.

President Donald Trump has lashed out over his impending impeachment in a letter to top Democrat Nancy Pelosi, accusing her of declaring “open war on American democracy”, According to BBC.

“You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!” he wrote in the letter, sent on Tuesday.

Mr Trump faces an impeachment vote on Wednesday over allegations he pressured Ukraine for personal political gain.


With little hope of changing the outcome of Wednesday’s vote in the House, Mr Trump used his six-page letter to rail against the process and denounce Ms Pelosi, the Democratic Speaker of the House.

It was a remarkable intervention by the president, who has resisted the impeachment process by preventing key aides from testifying before the House of Representatives.

Mr Trump is facing two impeachment charges:obstruction of Congress, by refusing to co-operate with the impeachment probe, barring staff from testifying, and holding back documentary evidence; and attempting to use his office to pressure Ukraine to investigate his Democratic political rival Joe Biden.

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the N10.59 trillion 2020 Appropriation Bill into law. The Senate and the House of Representatives both passed the 2020 budget with a significant increase.

The President proposed N10.33billion while the Appropriations committees on both chambers recommended N10.59billion. The breakdown of the budget revealed that out of the N263 billion increment, the National Assembly increased.

The chief magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, ordered that the Investigating Police Officer, Sgt. Sunday Idoko, must present Naira Marley in court on December 21, when the case would be listed for further hearing.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Wednesday night disclosed what he must do before he dies.

Adeboye said he would not die until he had built a church auditorium as big as the city of Ibadan.

The RCCG leader said this was revealed to him by God.

Daddy GO, as Adeboye as fondly called, said this while delivering a sermon entitled, ‘The Power of Inspiration’, on the third day of the Holy Ghost Congress 2019, at the Redemption Campground, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“If anybody tells you Pastor Adeboye is dead, don’t believe them because God is going to build us the auditorium as big as Ibadan. Until that is done, I’m not going anywhere,”

He declared.

He further lamented the situation in Nigeria, adding that the country needs a turnaround now than ever.

“There is no better time mankind needed a turnaround than now

the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has said serving corps members of the National Youth Service Corps will enjoy increased allowance as a result of the N30, 000 minimum wage from next year.

The minister said that increase in the allowances earned by corps members have been captured in the 2020 budget recently passed by the National Assembly.

Dare spoke during a visit to the orientation camp of the NYSC in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos state.

In a statement by his media office in Abuja on Wednesday, Dare assured the corps members that the increase will be effected once it is signed into law.

Dare said the over 350, 000 youth that pass through the NYSC yearly are essential to the success of any change agenda for the present and future generations.

Nicholas Igbokwe, a lecturer of the department of physical and health education, at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state was on Saturday morning, December 7, found dead in his office.


Vanguard reports that the spokesperson for the institution, Abiodun Olarenwaju, who also confirmed the death of the lecturer, said the deceased’s body had been transferred to the mortuary.


The death of the lecturer came as a shock to the institution as he was reported to be in good health at faculty on Saturday morning shortly before his demise.


“ It’s a pity we lost him. Nobody expected that. He was brought into the hospital this morning dead," the spokesperson for the institution said.
“He was a gentleman to the core, he was a very dutiful man who really knew his onus, his demise sincerely came as a rude shock to all of us.
