To be honest they won't even notice it at the POE until he makes a mistake.. or fidget. I believe suspicion will arise with anything above 3 months.
Even if you say at POE that you're spending just one month, they'll probably stamp you in for at least 3 months.

An LPR doesn't require a non-immigrant visa to travel outside of the U.S. - this is covered by your immigrant visa and green card. Just remember that as an LPR most of your time has to be spent in the U.S.
Thank you. So in effect, one CAN travel outside the US prior to getting the physical, plastic GC?

Understood about the most of the time part. No issues with that. Just wasn't sure if travel was possible wuntil the plastic GC actually arrives.

Hi VO,

Does the issuance and use of an IV invalidate an unexpired NIV?

Or to be more specific, can a new LPR make a quick trip outside the US and return before the physical GC arrives?

Yes, I don't have a fairly acceptable travel history!
Tho, I'm no more interested.

Thanks for ur time
Yes you are. That's partly why you're posting here. I bet if you were offered another opportunity to go there, possibly to perform professionally at a show (perhaps one where you'd meet someone like Jay Z) you would jump at it.

Which is why this your angry, unfettered rant at VO was very ill-advised. I hope for your sake you did not register on NL with the same details you used in your application.

A big part of being a man is to heed the words of Rudyard Kipling: "If you can meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two impostors just the same; yours is the earth and everything that's in it".

You will meet failures in your life and in your career (and one visa denial is inconsequential in the larger scheme of things). You will also meet success (possibly blow to the point where it's the embassy that will call you to mentor young others).

The key, as Kipling writes so beautifully, is to stay level-headed and use each experience to make yourself a better person.

Davido told a story of how he was dissed on the road by a police officer during a stop when he told him he was a singer. He said that made him determined to be a star, and his first big hit was born out of that experience.

On a final note, my advice to you is put a leash on the anger inside of you, join with the resident experts here (including Lady G, who I think you should man up and apologize to) and analyze the possible reasons for your denial.

Trust me, you will be better for it.

My 2 kobo (not worth much, I know) cool

Pls, if i go pay online, which you said its 18,500, will i get it in at least 1week? And are there any added charges to it when I get to their office?
Your best option is to forget about doing it online.
Just get to the passport office first thing in the morning, look for an official in uniform, and ask for his/her assistance. He/she will tell you how much the extra charges are and you'll get your passport in record time

Hello gurus in the house, you guys are really doing a great job here. God bless you all.

I have a question to ask.
I am about booking a flight to the US, my POE is Orlando Florida, but found out that it's way cheaper going through New York. The exchange rate is not helping matters at all. I plan to take a train to Florida from New York. Please is this decision going to be a problem?.
No. Just explain why to the officer at the POE if you get asked

The earlier you get in there and apply, the earlier you'll find dates.
The more you waste time asking questions, the more you lose those early dates.

I think from my experience with the way the US embassy handles visa applicants, granting of visa and denials has something to do with the way they the US perceive the host country and its citizens on issue relating to absconding looking at the economic values and conditions of the country. They the Visa officers always use TIES not strong enough to convince them...some have opined its lack of travel history and some have said its salary you eanr some say its marital status. Many here followed when i was initially denied business visa to attend a conference which was then my first ever visit to the US embassy since i have no business going ever...needless to say i work in a good profession and in a good coy as well as having travelled to so many European countries( about 12),3 Asian..2 south American..Middle east and about 8 African countries both for work, vacation and conferences...however after the VO leafed all through my two passports and saw visas scattered all over and even mentioned that she saw i recently came back from Germany just 2 months prior to the coming to the embassy..she still denied me visa...i got out not angered anyway..but a letter was quickly sent to the US to the secretary general of the NGO that i also represent actively in Nigeria and they asked me to go back which i was lucky i got a new visa appointment date and went back and visa was given 2yrs...again prior to that interview i had already done my medicals to relocate to Canada as permanent resident with my family...my wife never visited the embassy in Nigeria for visa but she has travelled severally with me to other European countries...after 5 months of settling down here...my wife is back in school here she just decided to apply for visit visa at the US embassy here in Canada...when she go to the visa officer the only question asked her was how long has she been in Canada and she said 5 months and what she does presently she said a student of so so University...then her vacation city she said Los Angeles...the visa officer then with smiles said why wont you also visit Las vegas and get to see the new casino that was just opened..my wife smiled ad said maybe....visa was approved without any question more than what i just said and the following day Canada post sent her a mail to come pick up her passport with visa and it was 10yrs visa to expire 2026.Now i should think the visa officer knows that her status from being resident in Nigeria has changed and there is limited chance for her to stay back in the US when she has legal resident status in Canada. So i dont know why they the US always look at us from back home as potential run- aways. And the truth is that we always have genuine visa applicants who only want to visit and come back to their jobs as they know its hard to even try to work with visit visa in the US...however i still commend the likes of ladyG and others for always giving brush ups to a lot here on how to get things right even though the visa officers still hold the key to whatever decision they want to make.

My opinion, but I think they are getting fed up of the "Conference" thing.
Too many people from Nigeria submitting the same old story.

Also they are trained to scan the documents that you submitted and the way you present on the day.
USA says that you WILL try to immigrate unless you prove otherwise.
If they are not satisfied it's 214b rejection letter.
I see your point. But if you have a genuine conference to attend, and it ties in with your current career, it will be approved.
Recently, I recommended someone for a conference in DC. She's single, mid 20s and with a salary of just over 100K. Cached her a little bit (even played the part of VO and denied her a couple of times).
She was approved with a virgin passport.
The young lady attended the conference and returned just over a week ago

I met applicants with no travel experiences who were approved.
If this is exactly how your interview went, it's no surprise you were refused. The VO has about 2-5 minutes to adjudicate your case and you're giving short answers.
HINT: Next time, without being verbose, explain to the VO exactly what the conference is about, and how it relates to your current job and/or personal development.
This is based on the information you've supplied above. The VO has access to way more detailed information with which to adjudicate
In addition, make sure you complete your DS-160 truthfully (I assume you did) so your answers correspond to what is in the form

You can take medications. Just make sure they're in your checked-in luggage.
As for the likes of ogbono, pepper, crayfish, etc. Make sure they're all ground. You can also carry garri if you want.
If you're taking seasoning like Maggi, Knorr, etc, avoid take the plain ones. I think one of crayfish or chicken is not allowed. I'm not quite sure which one now. I know one time I had both, and one was taken away.
Since I can't remember which one, I just buy the plain seasoning.
But make sure you declare EVERYTHING on your customs form

We are not sure why people keep asking what their chances of getting a visa are. This is not the purpose of this thread. We cannot and will not give chances on getting a visa. We are not in the gambling business.

Or what documents they need.
When they can just read through the thread and get all the answers they want.
I would ignore them if it was me but I think VO should just answer all such questions with a link to Page 1.

@seyewest in summary, in 2008 I gave birth for my bf who at dat time wasn't ready to get married. Then I did a passport in 2012 in my fathers name, since I wasn't married yet but only have a child. when I applied for US visa in july2013 in d form where they ask are u married I said yes and filled anoda persons name that doesn't tally with my surname cos on my passport its my maiden name that's on it. And den in dec 2013 I got married to my baby father and we applied last month as a family. But I'm still using same passport which still has my maiden name but this time my hubbys name and kids name are also same except for my passport. So on the day of the interview d question was asked if I was married before and details of the person. In this case I'm not married to dat person but to my original hubby and we have our MC and order documents. What do I need to do for future applications in order to rectify dis blunder.
You don sh!t for church be that o.
Here's the thing. You already claimed to have been married before. The way I see it, you're in a catch 22 situation and you got two options

1. Confess to your misrepresentation with an honest promise not to do it again and put yourself at the VO's mercy
2. Find a way to legitimise your previous lies by getting 'divorce papers' from your non existent 'ex husband'

My very strong advice would be Option 1, because as you can see, the other is actually a no-brainer. As long as your husband was not part of the original deception, I see no reason why he should not be eligible for a visa. But he would still need to qualify. Your underage children would qualify if he qualifies.
As for you? Matter get k-leg
