Which mathematics is behind the ifa practice? You are talking to a yoruba man here. Like I said, I'm waiting for you to develop one big technology with ifa since you know the mathematics behind it
Some mathematical functions and equations underlie it. But I won't go into details here. Briefly, the mathematics that underlies Ifa is Abstract Algebra (Group Theory), Binary Mathematics, and Statistics (Probability).

But it's deeper than that. There's a deeper, more profound math underlying it, which is a completely new math. That's not meant for Nairaland.

When an Ifa priest does his consultation using those cowries and shells, he's doing what we call composition or permutation in Group Theory. The Yoruba word for it is "amulu".

Such an activity can simply be represented by a composition table (Cayley table) in Abstract Algebra. No need to go into details here.

That information isn't meant for here.

People have used Ifa to develop technologies already now. You don't know Ifa is what underlies the Google you're using? It's the mathematics underlying Ifa that was used in build Google by the whites.

That's why I stated in my first post to you that what you saw in the video is nothing compared to the real thing practised. There's nothing in the video but amusement.
Masquerades are tricks. Even the feared Ekpo masquerade is a trick, including the blood-cuddling sound it makes. I know I've seen them dress up a few years ago when I went visiting.
The fire-spitting ones are tricks too.

The more intriguing ones include causing a fast-whirling vortex in the middle of hitherto still shallow pond without stepping into the water body. There's no way I analysed what I saw and could come up with a physical law which explained it. No, it wasn't windy.
That's you. Everyone has their own gifts or callings. Some people were born to explain such feats. All these things you mentioned are simply physical manifestations of exotic energy or exotic matter.

Exotic matter or energies are special matter/energies, not the everyday matter we're familiar with. In the same vein, there are special numbers, which are not the everyday numbers (such as natural numbers, integers, real numbers complex numbers) we're familiar with.

Examples of such special numbers are quaternions (Hamilton's numbers) and octonions (Cayley's numbers). Exotic matter/energy is like that, too.

In my culture, Isese practitioners often use such to do one rite or the other. But they don't know some science underlie whay they're doing.

Such exotic matter or energy has mysterious properties when it interacts with normal matter (the everyday matter we're familiar with), and these properties are often regarded as juju or supernatural by many.

But those that know the underlying science don't see it as such. If I attend any local festival, I observe how the magicians use such exotic matter/energy to manipulate the perception of their audience and dazzle them.

Those ones will think they're looking at juju. But it's all science. And soon, many won't some of these things as juju any longer when the science underlying them becomes popular.

Tell me your own definition of juju first. Maybe we are arguing on different topics
I've told you already. What you call juju or supernatural are natural phenomena. But due to your limitations of knowledge and understanding of the mysteries of nature, that's why you see them as such.

Real juju is simply unexplained science, but it won't be so for long, and it's not everyone that has such limited understanding or knowledge.

If you know or do science to a certain level, you won't see such as juju because they're simply natural manifestations.

For instance, in the Yoruba culture, I know the underlying mathematics of the body of knowledge called Ifa even though I'm not an Ifa priest and don't worship Ifa or any deity/god.

But I've done a lot of studies on Odu Ifa and discovered the underlying mathematics.

So, I may decide to go for an Ifa consultation someday just to test the practical knowledge of the concept. People into Ifa don't know the underlying math and physics (the equations, functions, and the likes) underlying Ifa.

What they've is practical knowledge which they inherited from their forefathers and also learnt, and they call it juju. If they've the scientific knowledge, they'll build technologies with Ifa.

It's the knowledge of science you use to invent and build technologies.

To get that knowledge of science, you need to question everything you think you know. But religious and cultural constraints won't allow many to do such.

Because of this, people that know Ifa practically mostly don't understand the underlying science. And why is that so? Because they call it juju.

That tactic of calling seemingly mysterious feats juju has been used to hide knowledge and scare people over the years.

Ideally, Ifa or Afa is highly valuable knowledge which can be used to build big technologies and solve many problems faced in society.

But beliefs in juju won't allow people to do such. So, it's intelligent people from foreign countries that ended up using Ifa to develop big technologies such as Google and computers.

And Ifa/Afa people would be complaining they stolen their knowledge.

That's why it's good to study everything scientifically and stop seeing every mysterious thing as juju, supernatural. It keeps people backward and underdeveloped.

Juju is a form of religious rite. I don't believe in its efficacy on me, but those who believe in its efficacy have their reasons which I can't dispute.

You call it programming, some call it conjuring, the Ibibios call it "ibok', the Yorubas call it " Ogun"... It all points to metaphysics - beyond-physical, advanced-physical... Or whatever term you'd tag it.

For me, Juju is just a practice.

You are unwittingly agreeing with me. The fact that you agree there's an intelligent designer or designers to the universe is proof that we live in a metaphysical or beyond-physical world.

My lack of believe in its personal efficacy doesn't negate what others believe. I don't believe in tithes or first fruits practised in Christianity but if it works for them - IF, good for them. Far be it from DissTróy to ridicule their personal experiences as long as they don't force it on me.

I believe in the concept of God, experienced without the bottleneck of organised religions, knowing well enough that God in this term means "supreme intelligent designer of the universe in whatever form it exists" which even the most atheistic of scientists agree to.
I understand you clearly. All these are beliefs. Science deals with reality.

Like in your culture, my culture also has deep belief in juju. But I simply tell people that it's all science. If you don't know the underlying science of something, that's when you call it juju.

This is due to ignorance or limitations of knowledge.

Concerning the nature of God, that's a settled issue for me as an agnostic now and in the foreseeable future. I've scientific (objective) of that and its practical applications.

I'm telling you that juju existed and ask you to explain some things which I didn't consider natural and you are here talking about unexplained science. Let's just agree that it's your unexplained science but until it will be explained, I will consider it as juju.
Na your opinion now. Even till now, there are people that still call cold, malaria, and similar ailments juju, spiritual attacks even when the majority have become enlightened about their real nature.

A region with many juju believers are often underdeveloped and backward. The word "juju" is used to scare people away from investigating inexplicable phenomena and unraveling the mysteries underlying them.

It's an old tactic used by fraudsters and conmen to scam unsuspecting people.

Science will unravel and demystify all things called juju.

Anything that manifests on Earth is governed by laws of nature, which are physical. It's when your understanding of such laws is limited that you'll be looking for juju all about, or if you want to deceive others by hiding your knowledge.

If you're an atheist or agnostic in Africa, I'd recommend that you don't dismiss claims of the juju or the supernatural whenever you come across such. Simply ask for the proof.

Based on my own research, what's called juju is either unexplained science or fakes.

One can discover new sciences by investigating all these juju claims. However, it's a risky endeavor.

Like I stated, I'm more of a skeptic and cynic for most parts. Even an Atheist for years before becoming a Deist.

But I've seen the Uruan people in their elements. I have nothing to benefit from painting a subgroup as still very much in touch with their native fetishisms vis-à-vis practising Christians. If anything, I have set them up for possible dragging and labeling.

Still, the truth is the truth, and it's harsh sometimes. We live in a metaphysical world. We have no explanation for everything. There are many phenomena science can't explain till date. Heck! Scientists even dismiss their own varying theories of how the universe came to be, but they agree there's an intelligent deliberate design to the universe.
And deliberate intelligent design is proof of an intelligent designer or designers. A designer is a creator. 0.5 x 1 = 1/2 .

I've seen things which shake my cynicism and skepticism. You have too. Including the viewing public.
Those things you call supernatural are seen as natural by some people. It's limitations in perception and understanding that make people regard them as supernatural.

When scientists discover the laws of nature underlying such phenomena, they'll become seen as normal, ordinary by many.

This has been happening in many human eras. Cold, malaria, jaundice, even common headache were all regarded as spiritual (supernatural) attacks in the past. Today, most people don't see them that way due to key advances in medical science.

The same fate awaits those phenomena you call spiritual, supernatural, juju today. In fact, as we speak, scientists are doing studies on some of them, and when they make breakthroughs in them, new sciences will emerge and new technologies.

This is what has been happening with many phenomena regarded as juju, supernatural by the masses.

Those things you call juju are purely physical. I can't go into too much details here. But certain laws of nature, which are mathematical, govern them.

If you see some mathematical functions and equations underlying all these things, you'll shudder.

Don't deceive yourself or let anyone deceive you. The matrix we call reality was designed and engineered by certain people (worshipped as different gods and goddesses around the world) using certain codes (certain math, physics, and the likes) the same way engineers design and code machines today.

And planet Earth is governed by physical laws. If you don't know many of such laws, that's when you'll see phenomena above your understanding as juju, voodoo, supernatural, which will make you prone to scams.

There's nothing like juju in a physical realm like Earth. Everything here is physical.

About the designer you mentioned, if you want to know the designer in your own culture, that's the chief god or major gods/goddesses worshipped there by the pagans.

And those ones have also their own designers as well.

Each culture has its own designers. It's all advanced programming the gods (higher beings) do.

The programming done in Computer Science and the likes is elementary. The matrix we call reality itself came about from programming done by past humans worshipped as one god or the other in different parts of the world.

Due to limitations in understanding of mysteries of nature in different eras, the supernatural or juju of one generation are the ordinary, normal things of the next generation.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 10:12am On Jan 03, 2024
People that look for supernatural (spiritual) phenomena in the physical realms such as Earth can be likened to a person seeking to harvest yam when he planted cassava.

Earth is just one of the many realms (worlds) in existence, and the laws of nature in each world are different. The physical realms such as Earth are governed by physical laws, which are studied by what we call science.

In other realms (called "orun" in Yoruba or spiritual realms), there are also laws of nature, which are perceived as supernatural relative (compared) to the earthly realm.

There are no supernatural phenomena in the physical realms such as Earth. If you're seeking for such, shamans and fraudsters go scam you tire.

The supernatural phenomena happen in other realms called "orun" (in Yoruba) or spiritual in the general context. These are non-physical realms, and you sometimes journey to them in your dreams.

Physical realms such as Earth are governed by physical laws (Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and the likes), while non-physical realms are governed by non-physical laws.

That's the plain truth.

How will people enjoy stable power supply, good health facilities, good roads, and other basic amenities as we've in many parts of the West, China and the likes when natural phenomena and happenings are seen as juju, voodoo, supernatural?

Such mentality keeps a people in darkness and underdeveloped.

KingTom knows the fetishisms of the Efiks very well. Even as fetish as they are, the Obong of Calabar must go pay homage to the Uruans of Akwa Ibom. All the rites and everything for cleansing. Same with high-ranking titled Efik men.

Even Donald Duke has to go pay homage regularly. He did so as Governor too.

An atheist's stance would be put to test when he encounters the Uruans in their elements.
----
But on the flipside, the most Ibibio of cuisines are best prepared by the Uruans. Hilda Baci can't tie the culinary stiletto straps of a typical 17-year-old Uruan girl raised by an Uruan mother. I'd say the females make the best lovers too, from my experience.
All these are just tricks and unexplained science. If many people in this part of the world show interest in science, these are things that can be studied and applied to solve various problems faced in society.

There's nothing supernatural or juju in all those things you've mentioned. If you're looking for supernatural feats in the earthly realm, dem go scam you gan.

No supernatural phenomena exist on Earth. Everything is physical and has certain laws of nature (some physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, psychology) underlying them.

If you don't know such laws or natural principles, that's when you'll be believing in juju or voodoo.

In many parts of the world, sun, rainfall, and many natural phenomena we take for granted today due to the advancements of science and technology were all regarded as spiritual and supernatural phenomena in the past.

Today, because the scientists have discovered and understood the laws of nature underlying those natural phenomena, they're now seen as normal (natural), nothing supernatural or juju.

It's because of such understanding we've electricity, cars, phones and the Internet you're browsing with, and many other amenities, which have made our lives easier in the 21st century.

But laws of nature are many, and scientists haven't even scratched the surface of the Infinite mysteries of nature.

The mentality of seeing mysterious phenomena and occurrences of nature as juju, supernatural and as act of one god/deity or the other is bad and unhealthy for science and doesn't make a people to grow.

That's one of the major problems of people in these parts of the world, which is why Africa is the least industrialized and developed continents of the world.

That attitude needs to change. Supernatural phenomena don't exist in the physical realms, such as Earth.

Don't let anyone deceive you. In the coming years, many of the feats you see as voodoo, juju today will be regarded as normal (ordinary, natural) when scientists discover and understand the laws of nature governing them.

Even Isese practitioners that believe in all this nonsense know the gullible and simple-minded people they tell such lies to. Whenever I discuss with them, I tell them clearly without mincing words that what they call juju or supernatural don't exist in the earthly realm.

Everything that happens on Earth is natural and is governed by certain laws, which are inherently mathematical.
