"This structure is one of my compositions at the Akodi Orisa in Ile Ife.

This is not the way we were taught to make art.

We were taught that the ways of our ancestors are evil and that our forebears were devil worshippers.

Our professors taught us to imitate western ways of making art.

The images that our ancestors produced were called primitive and idols.

We were instructed at the universities to focus on the west as the center of our creative activities.

Our professors, poor colonized beings, made us into colonized artists who studied Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Bernini, Van Gogh, and other great artists of the west as our models.

But it is important for us to liberate ourselves from the colonial mentality that makes it impossible to grow, to escape our poverty mentality, and flourish.

It is important to decolonize our minds.

How do we do this?

There are many paths leading to the market place.

This is what i advocate: we must reconsider everything we were taught from the day we were born, up to this moment.

First, we must understand that the denial of our colonial status is the first symptom of being a colonized mind.

We must constantly ask ourselves this question: how do I decolonize my mind?

We must move forward by studying the ways of our ancestors and not just the ways of those who came to our land to conquer, dominate and exploit us.

The west will not deliver us from our poverty because it is not in the interest of the west to liberate us from their exploitation.

The west regards us as a gold mine to excavate and pillage.

But we must not submit to their exploitation any longer.

We must unlearn everything the west has taught us, and relearn the ways of our forebears to discover who we are and where we want to be.

Look around, and wake up.

The backwardness that holds us down is located in our blind aping of the western "civilization," which is like a butterfly that a child daily chases, and will never catch.

This installation is a homage to our ancestors.

It is inside a temple I constructed in Ile Ife, called the Akodi Orisa.

I know many of our people would find the construction strange because they have been brainwashed to look down on ancestral forms of inspiration and are already attracted to the shiny things of the west.

It will take a long time to decolonize our minds.

But we are on this long journey, one step after another.

More to follow on this topic."

Quote of the day

“…Heisenberg took classical and quantum mechanics both to be examples of closed theories.

A closed theory, for Heisenberg, is one that is “perfectly accurate within its domain” and “correct for all time.” This notion of a closed theory had a profound impact on his understanding of theory change. Heisenberg believed that the elements of a closed theory exhibit such a tight interconnectedness that not a single concept can be changed without destroying the whole system. This means that theory change cannot happen gradually, but rather must occur all at once, by means of an “intellectual jump” that makes a “radical break” with the theories that had come before.

Although Dirac never uses the term, his own views of classical and quantum mechanics can be fruitfully understood as a rival account, namely, one of “open theories.” He argues that even the most well-established parts of quantum theory are open to future revision. Instead of viewing classical mechanics as a theory that had been replaced, he saw it as a theory that should continue to be developed, modified, and extended. He took no part of physics to be a permanent achievement, correct for all time.

Dirac's view of theories as open also had an effect on his account of theory change. Where Heisenberg argued for wholesale change, Dirac sought piecemeal modifications; where Heisenberg believed that quantum theory had to make a sharp break with classical mechanics, Dirac believed that there was a deep structural continuity between these theories that should be exploited. A juxtaposition of these two thinkers not only brings us to a deeper understanding of their philosophical views, but also promises to shed new light on current debates over reductionism and the nature of theory change.”

My preoccupation in the New Year: Using Odu Ifa to unify the fundamental forces of nature into a single theoretical framework continuing from where I stopped last year.

This is a grand challenge, which is why some silly posts here are better ignored.

Nevertheless, atheists and agnostics are some of the most intelligent humans on the planet.

Osimhen was instrumental in the two games we've played so far. But he needs to be more clinical and score more goals. I love the hunger and ginger he shows in games.

Yea, with super chickens, you can never really be so confident. Let's wait till Monday sha. But the coach no sabi anything.

BlueRayDick:
Both of them stood out; they closed those flanks down and restricted Ivorians to be playing aimless long shots .
I was really impressed with Ola Aina's offensive play today, even though he also did well defensively. As for Bassey, he was rock solid and kept the Ivorians at bay from the other flank.

Abi o. We thought we were back to the old days of doing permutation and combination in qualifiers and tournaments. Nevertheless, this gaffer is really a downgrade on Rohr.

At least, we should be able to beat Guinea Bissau on Monday to finish as the group leaders.

You need to understand the spiritual is real.
For better understanding African science is real.
If you are able to understand that, you'll be able to figure out nothing is extra special about religion
"African science" is a more appropriate term for what's called juju, voodoo. If you use the term "juju" or "voodoo", you're either an ignorant person/mumu or a conman (secretive/mischievous person).

As I said before, spiritual or supernatural events or phenomena don't occur in the physical world or realm such as Earth. Anyone looking for such in this realm should be ready to be scammed and defrauded many times by charlatans, such as pastors, alfas, and the likes.

Anything that manifests in this realm must obey the laws of nature as taught in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and the likes, or unknown laws of nature to be discovered in the coming years.

If it doesn't obey laws of nature, it doesn't belong in the earthly realm, but in another realm. The earthly realm isn't the only realm in existence, and whether something is supernatural or not is all a matter of perception based on your level of knowledge.

It's subjective. Science deals with objective knowledge, and something may seem supernatural to you because you don't know the laws of nature or universal principles underlying it, but to those that do, it's purely natural.

I really admire Sadio Mane's generous and humanitarian spirit. He has done so much for his people.

Every African, who nature has blessed with wealth or knowledge in abundance, should emulate this and strive to touch the lives of their people positively.

We need more of Sadio Mane and other generous people on this forum and offline than those wicked Nigerian politicians.
