I took part in a conference on promoting indigenous languages of Africa recently and was glad with some of the things I observed as regards the change in the attitude of Africans to their cultures and traditions.

It's good to see how books like Otem's and other works have influenced Nigerians, especially Yoruba people, to promote their forefathers and culture and stop being fools and slaves to the forefathers and culture of foreign people.

Personally, I know many people that recently embraced Isese, Yoruba culture and traditions, and started partaking in their local festivals.

These people are celebrating past humans like Ojo, Ogun, and the likes, who are their ancestors, not Otem. But some dumb people actually think Otem wants people to be worshipping or celebrating him.

If you don't celebrate and promote your forefathers, then what makes you a human? If you don't have a native culture, how are you different from people in a vegetative state or dead?

The silly people here wailing about Otem daily are children who don't know and don't know that they don't know.

People wailing about Otem here are just wasting their time. You're exerting silly effort against forces you don't even know let alone understand.

It's time for many native cultures and traditions of Africa to regain popularity, develop, and be reformed for the better, and there's nothing you or your weak god can do about it.

According to the prize guidelines, the theme “Sacred” is to be interpreted very broadly: in religious, secular, mysterious, virtuous, and cherished terms. Sacred could be about piety and consecration, or not. What is sacred can be material, psychological, or political.

Let me drop this here for theoretical physicists working on theses that could develop into a new branch of Physics. One can learn key lessons from the Nobel-prize-winning theoretical physicists in this brief history of Quantum Physics, which was developed by these great thinkers in the early 20th century:

History of Quantum Physics

In 1900, Max Planck proposed that the energy of electromagnetic radiation, such as light, is not continuous but discrete, meaning that it comes in packets or quanta. He derived a formula, known as Planck’s law, that describes the spectrum of blackbody radiation, which is the radiation emitted by a perfect absorber of heat. Planck’s law was the first quantum theory in physics, and Planck won the Nobel Prize in 1918 “in recognition of the services he rendered to the advancement of Physics by his discovery of energy quanta”. In 1905, Albert Einstein used Planck’s hypothesis to explain the photoelectric effect, which is the emission of electrons from a metal surface when light shines on it.

He showed that light behaves as a stream of particles, called photons, whose energy depends on their frequency.

Einstein also proposed the special theory of relativity, which relates space and time in a new way and shows that mass and energy are equivalent.

Einstein won the Nobel Prize in 1921 “for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect”.

In 1913, Niels Bohr introduced a quantum model of the atom, in which electrons orbit around a nucleus only at certain distances and can jump between them by absorbing or emitting photons.

Bohr also proposed the correspondence principle, which states that quantum phenomena must agree with classical physics in the limit of large numbers. Bohr won the Nobel Prize in 1922 “for his services in the investigation of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them”.

In 1923, Louis de Broglie suggested that matter, like light, has both particle and wave properties, and that the wavelength of a particle is inversely proportional to its momentum.

This idea was confirmed by experiments that showed the diffraction and interference patterns of electrons and other particles. In 1925, Werner Heisenberg formulated the matrix mechanics, which is a mathematical framework for quantum physics that uses matrices to represent physical quantities and operators.

Heisenberg also discovered the uncertainty principle, which states that there is a fundamental limit to how precisely one can measure certain pairs of physical quantities, such as position and momentum.

Heisenberg won the Nobel Prize in 1932 “for the creation of quantum mechanics”. In 1926, Erwin Schrödinger developed the wave mechanics, which is another mathematical framework for quantum physics that uses differential equations to describe the evolution of wave functions.

Schrödinger also introduced the concept of superposition, which means that a quantum system can exist in a combination of two or more states until an observation collapses it into one definite state.

Schrödinger won the Nobel Prize in 1933 “for the discovery of new productive forms of atomic theory”. In 1927, Paul Dirac unified quantum mechanics and special relativity in a single equation, known as the Dirac equation, which describes the behavior of electrons and other spin -1/2 particles.

Dirac also predicted the existence of antimatter, which are particles with opposite charge and spin to their normal counterparts. Dirac won the Nobel Prize in 1933 “for the discovery of new productive forms of atomic theory”.

In 1928, Wolfgang Pauli proposed the exclusion principle, which states that no two identical fermions (such as electrons) can occupy the same quantum state in an atom or a molecule. Pauli also introduced the concept of spin, which is a quantum property that gives particles a magnetic moment. Pauli won the Nobel Prize in 1945 “for the discovery of the Exclusion Principle”.

In 1935, Albert Einstein, Boris Podolsky, and Nathan Rosen published a paper that challenged the completeness and consistency of quantum mechanics.

They proposed a thought experiment, known as the EPR paradox, that involved two entangled particles that share a quantum state and can affect each other instantaneously over any distance.

They argued that this implied either hidden variables or spooky action at a distance, both of which contradicted classical physics. In 1948, Richard Feynman developed a graphical method for calculating quantum effects using diagrams that represent interactions between particles and fields.

These diagrams are called Feynman diagrams and are widely used in quantum field theory and particle physics. Feynman also contributed to the development of quantum electrodynamics (QED), which is a quantum theory of electromagnetism that explains phenomena such as light scattering and electron-positron annihilation.

Feynman won the Nobel Prize in 1965 “for their fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics”.

In the teaching line, you come across students of diverse mental capacities. There are bright ones, which nature gifted with a higher IQ than their mates. When you teach those ones, your work is easier.

Before you teach them A, they already grasp A to D.

There's another group of students that appear to take a bit longer to grasp things. Those ones are less intelligent when it comes to academics.

Then, there are those that exhibit low intelligence when it comes to academics that would give you a tough time as a teacher. Na people of such low IQ full Nairaland.

There was one I taught Physics and Math then in 2020 during the COVID-19 period. He exhibited a low level of intelligence in many topics in these subjects and other key subjects.

The boy gave me a lot of tough time then.

And the mom told me all the past teachers had a similar experience. I just advised her to expose the kid to as many activities as possible.

The parents wanted the boy to study an engineering course then, but he didn't show interest and have good performance in the key subjects required for such a discipline.

Such students hardly excel in that area. Instead of imposing a course of study on him, the parents needed to find other interests for him.

When he found an area that interested him, he'd show passion and zeal in it and excel there.

It's the same way some highly intelligent people can quickly spot opportunities in their immediate environment, which the dolts wailing about Otem here are too dull to see.

While the dimwits are wailing about a great body of knowledge, the smart ones can easily spot the new physics and mathematics there, which they are using to develop new fields in science.

It's not good to be dumb in life.

When the kids finish making their daily noises about Otem all year long, we'd see what they've achieved with the noisemaking.

Instead of wasting time in worshipping a god, a parent should be preoccupied with raising geniuses as kids in the 21st century. It's geniuses that rule the world, not dumb people.

To raise a genius as a child, a parent should introduce their kid to philosophy, science, mathematics (hard math), programming, and hard puzzles at a very young age.

When you've taught kids with a learning disorder, such an experience isn't new. The last kid I taught with such a challenge was in 2013 as an undergraduate.

Before then, I taught one such student when I was doing A levels preparing for university education.

Such students are rare and are extremely difficult to teach.

In the university, the boy's dad is a high-ranking staffer in my alma mater, and the kid has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He's a graduate now.

Once the pay is handsome, parents will get good teachers to handle kids with such challenges successfully.

A teacher that can handle kids with a learning disorder successfully can teach anyone.
