jackbauersballs: Agreed.

It is not a disaster, but it is certainly NOT impressive...
How many goals did you expect? 10,15??
Torres did not score a single goal in his first 2 months at Chelsea. Ba has done 4 times better than that already

jackbauersballs: You keep missing the point. Torres has not been prolific in front of goal for Chelsea. Then again Neither has Ba. the question now is WHY?
2 goals in 5 league starts may not be prolific but this is only his 2nd month at Chelsea! What excuse do you have for Torres who should be accustomed to the system by now

jackbauersballs: Lampard is a creative midfielder for Chelsea...How does he have the highest stats for goal attempts at Chelsea in the last 6 games without creating a single goal?
How can a Striker thrive when his midfielder is hustling for goals instead of creating them?
Nonsense! So that is why Torres has only managed one goal in the entire 2013? Is Lampard the only ninja on the pitch

Lampard has always been driven by goals but that didn't stop guys like Drogba and Anelka from winning the EPL Golden Boot an award Lampard has never won despite his hustle

jackbauersballs: Nobody is dragging this with you....
But you rubbished the importance of the goals questioning the opposition didn't you?

occam: They may still get the 6th seed. Right now, its a four way race (Warriors, Rockets, Jazz & Lakers) for 6,7 & 8 seed. Always love the West.
Lol the West has been the stronger conference for eons now! The Warriors and Rockets are still vulnerable too. I dunno if the Lakers can get past San Antone or OKC in the playoffs but let's wait and see the race is still on

occam: Kobe is a fierce and competitive guy. And I bet he'll carry that team to the playoffs even with broken fingers and all. People forget the intangibles this guy brings every single night and focus on the highlight reels (dunks, blocks, fast break points etc) from Lebron.
I checked Kobe's stats lately and its amazing the number of seasons he has played all 82 games! The guy is just a stubborn nigga! All these dunks,blocks,fast-breaks and highlight reels Kobe don do am pass! He's only 165 points away from Wilt Chamberlain for 4th highest scorer of all time and you expect he would pass him in the next 10 games at most! Don't know if he can catch Kareem but MJ is definitely catchable
I think the moment Kobe came out and guaranteed the Lakers would make the playoffs was the turning point! Their schedule also helped but they had to win still

By the way what do your Knicks do about Amare! Another surgery again? That guy na just scam! If he where in the NFL he woulda been cut!!

jackbauersballs: Ba has started the last 6 games he has played...Almost the exact same time frame where Lampard has tallied more goal attempts(13 shots) than he has and provided 0 assists. Would you say Ba is a Dud? or Should you be wondering why Lampard would rather go for goal than create chances for his Striker?

You decide.

You guys keep shouting about 4 goals as if that is something fantastic

4 goals in 13 appearances is pretty poor by any standards.Especially if those goals are against less-than-stellar teams like Brentford,Southampton, and WestBrom.

Now we know Ba is a fantastic goalscorer, no doubt. But for whatever reasons his performance has dropped since he signed for Chelsea.
How much of this is due to playing for a new side? and how much of this is due to playing under a faulty system?
You decide...
4 goals in 2 months is not a disaster! Tell us how many goals did Torres score in his first two months at Chelsea! Answers on a postcard please

I don't know why you are bringing Lampard into this debate as I wonder what this has to do with Lampard. Are you telling me Lampard is the reason why Torres has scored just one goal in 2013 after over 10 hours of football

The goal against West Brom earned them all 3 points the goal he scored against Southampton earned em a draw! Subtract those goals and Chelsea are out of the top four
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by A40(m): 3:34pm On Mar 12, 2013
jackbauersballs: I fail to see what you are driving at.

Do you not get what I am telling you? This is not a case of Ba vs Torres...

Both of them are not utilized effectively under the current dispensation.

For instance...In the Last 6 games, Hazard has had only 1 assist, Mata 2, Lampard 0

In the same time period Hazard has tallied 6 shots, Mata 9 shots and Lampard 13!

Yet in the same time period Torres has 11 shots(5 in one game-Sparta) shots and Ba has 10 shots(6-in one game -Westbrom).

All stats from ESPN.

Now it says a lot when the players who are supposed to be CREATING goals are infact not doing so, but racking up shots on goal to rival and in Lampard's case surpass their Strikers shot tallies!

Strikers under Chelsea will always struggle as long as the Midfielders keep going for personal glory!
This is not about the strikers! Torres is a wasteman! End of tori!

I think De Gea has massively improved compared to last season where he was a bit of a klutz at times! He's only 22 and the upside is massive! The average keeper is not even at his peak at 25 so I do think a lot of criticism on De Gea is a bit unfair

jackbauersballs: I must say, I have to agree with Coogar on this one.

Even if Jesus came down to wear the number 9 shirt for us, he would never succeed with the kind of players we have.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to play a lone striker in a Winger-less system and expect him to bag them for fun.

Torres and Ba have been forced to play as False nine's very similar to Messi at Barca, unfortunately they both lack the movement of the great Argentine (Possibly because he is a converted winger?)

Agreed, Torres has been pants since he moved. But what excuse do we have for Ba?
Lol plenty actually! Has he been at Chelsea for even 2 months??

Has he even started 3 games in a row since joining them? You are working with an extremely small sample size here to judge Ba as a flop

Even with the rotation and chopping and changing 4 goals is not a bad return considering the quality of opposition Ba gets his starts against

@elampiro
Nice job with the links you do know your stuff but Nani deserved the red

Thank God no one got sent off this time I'm sure elampiro and ddippset woulda quoted the old testament on my black a$$ grin grin

elampiro: When Nani challenged Arbeloa for a bouncing ball inside his own half, he seemed committed and nothing more. Cakir deemed it dangerous and after waiting until the winger recovered from a non-existent injury, out came the red card. Nani was incredulous. Ferguson went ballistic. With good reason.
This is the issue! And this is what I've been stressing since day one!! Its bad enough that he made a reckless challenge but he also went on to feign injury trying to make the ref look stupid! He would not try that next time

ddippset: lol, being in the crime scene makes you an accomplice? you think say na nigerian police I de talk for here? The crime scene here refers to nani being involved in the clash with abeloa, innocent here means an innocent nana who didn't see abeloa charging towards him, and running from the cops here means rolling on the floor and feingning injury. It makes sense think about. And one more thing I have to be in nani's head to know he didn't see abeloa? When the full replay is right there on youtube and everywhere for the world to see? Common man!
We know you are only here because you are anti-Madrid
That aside I have told you why Nani could have been sent off I listed both factors and they are legitimate ones! That foul was a yellow card at least! Throw in the shoddy con attempt and I can understand why Nani got sent off
A million youtube clips cannot prove that Nani didn't see Arbeloa! Haven't you heard of peripheral vision?

ddippset: @ A40, are you mr A40, saying that mr nani, one nil up, coveniently enroute the quater final of the uefa champions league, saw mr abeloa and deliberately stamped him in the stomach? So that he gets sent off and cost his team the victory? Does this even make any sense to you? Abi abeloa thief I'm wife? Even an 1mbecile wouldn't do that! The issue about rolling on the floor, goalkeepers and stuff are not even important, but I did go out of my way to give you a reason why nani could feign an injury but you would have non of it. If we cannot agree on the primary argument whether nani saw abeloa then we can't even have a debate. Its amazIng how you still insist that nani saw abeloa despite the existence of the video clip showing the full projectile of the ball with nani in full view of the camera. Its just amazing.
Yes you can't rule that out for sure because you are not Nani! Whether he knew he would get sent off is another matter entirely
While I can't definitely prove Nani saw Arbeloa you can't prove he didn't see him either because you are not in Nani's head so you can't conclusively say he didn't see him either
Your reason does not apply! When an innocent man flees the scene of a crime he becomes an accomplice! Nani's case was not a life or death matter so why did he go out of his way to cheat? Its a deterrent for players not to resort to such disgusting tactics

The important thing is this! Nani's kick yes it was a kick to Arbeloa was dangerous play! Offense #1
Instead of either getting on with the game or in the spirit of fairplay check on who he kicked he chose to roll on the floor feigning injury to try and con the ref! Offense #2

elampiro: You are not being genuine in your argument. If you watch the match, you actually know the truth deep down. Even die hard anti-Man United fans who came to my house were shocked about the decision. Madrid players never protested or expected a red.
Its not about that its about the fact that Nani tried to con the ref!!! Its not up to the Madrid players to react its not like it woulda changed anything
I'm not a Madrid fan but I can understand why Nani shoulda been sent off

elampiro: Why should Nani go and sympathized witj Arbeloa? They both contested for a free ball, if at all it was Arbeloa who was in position to avoid the collusion.
Let's assume its not Nani's prerogative to apologize how does this excuse his rolling on the floor like someone suffering from warapa! Even after fouling a fellow player? Player safety must be regarded at all times! You can't say its ok to maim a player just because you are going for the ball

elampiro: It is not every high foot that is a fowl. Colocini dangerous tackle that broke Ba's nose was never sanctioned, not even a yellow. That is because they went for same ball, Ba decided to go with his head, Colocini went with his foot. And that was a thousand times worse tackle than Nani's.
It all boils down to how the referee interpreted it! If he decided to send Coloccini off it would also not have been inaccurate because player safety is also paramount! This is not the NFL

elampiro: Again, if you have judge the vidic's case not to be a foul because the keeper was expected to used his hands (he missed and punch)
There is usually bias towards the goalie in most set-pieces. Is the rule fair or correct? I don't know I didn't make em

ddippset: abeloa played a fast one on nani and nani knew it. He stayed down to attract sympathy from the ref. Refs always sympathise with the 'hurt'. But all this is secondary. the referee was employed to officiate the match and not to play god. His primary concern should be whether nani saw abeloa or not. For goodness sake nani had his full glare on the ball and abeloa showed up from his other side. Those that are saying that nani saw abeloa, I wonder where they got that from. Was there another version of the same game somewhere else? I wonder. On aljazeera, supersport, goal.com, and other major sport shows they all see it as a bad decison but here in nigerian radio stations and nairaland everyone is arguing and arguing. maybe reflective of our political predicament? Btw marca also thinks it was a red card. For very obvious reasons righthuh
Ok so it was a case of cunning man die cunning man bury am! Ohh well that's Nani's phat luck I guess
All I know is Nani's reckless play and dishonesty is what got him sent off! I'm sure if the decision was left to you you would have Arbeloa sent off despite the fact that Nani was the aggressor
I have said previously that your anti-Madrid stance is why you are here crying more than the bereaved
Just so you know Roy Keane also thought it was the correct decision
By the way Refs don't always sympathize with the 'hurt' or in this case the player feigning injury, they always get their due punishment which made Nani's play-acting all the more pathetic

elampiro: @ddippset: You are so correct, Nani did not see Arbeloa until Arbeloa collided with him, his eyes were on the ball. Many anti-Man U have already agreed that Nani didn't see Arbeloa, but maintained it was a dangerous play. But highest, it should have been a yellow. Xavi Alonso said the red was a hard decision to take.
Nani didn't see Arbeloa?? That's your opinion I say he saw him! And no Arbeloa didn't collide with him it was a kick to Arbeloa not a collision

elampiro: Mourinho said he wasn't sure of the decision. Ex Turkey referee boss said that decision will affect the future of the referee career. Yahoo news called it a controversial decision. CNN called it a wrong decision, supersport news called it a wrong decision. ESPN too, also some European media tagged it a 'scandalous decision'.
Can you bring out links? Its not enough to just name drop my friend

elampiro: It was a night Nani took the show off Ronaldo and Di Maria. It was a match that should have made his CV. The referee knew it was certainly a United's night, he had to do something fast.
Yes we know Nani would have easily won the Balon D'or on the back of his performance all I know is Nani didn't have to exhibit such chicanery if he didn't I'm sure he wouldn't have been sent off! And if he was I would blame the ref too for being harsh and not using discretion

ddippset: A lot of people keep going on and on about nani rolling on the floor being evident of the fact that he stamped on abeloa deliberately. For goodness sake how does nani rolling on the ground show he did it deliberately? Very inconclusive! Its just like saying an innocent guy fleeing a crime scene upon seeing the police means that he did the crime! No way! Inconclusive. Nani stayed on the ground because he wanted the referee's sympathy.in any clash of bodies the referee's instinct would be to be sympathetic with the guy who's wounded or 'grounded.'The ref isn't god and nani knew it,he didn't want to be seen as the villain cus abeloa actually was and so he feigned injury. Logic! I really don't understand how anybody who watched the match live, and prolly seen a couple of replays could say that nani saw abeloa. Amazing how a thin line exists between football fanatism and dishonesty nowadays. Nani had his sight on the flight of the ball on the way. Now let's give abeloa and the ref the benefit of the doubt and assume nani did see him, wasn't abeloa supposed to duck after seeing what nani wanted to do? But he didn't ,instead he went straight into the foot of nani. Abeloa only succeeded in pvncking the world minus me. Some said ok, nano didn't see him but it was a dangerous play? Seriously? Raising a foot is a dangerous play? Bicycle kicks and over head kicks now dangerous plays? Maybe zidane should have been sent off for dangerous play against levercusen, or rooney should be sent of against man city, or maybe ibra should be sent off against england for all those wonderful bicycle kick-goals for dangerous play. The referee made a blunder! He killed man u.
You are anti-Madrid so I don't expect you to be objective about this! What's wrong with Nani getting up and checking on Arbeloa? He was clearly not hurt!! Which means he was play-acting! When even the person that got kicked was up before the kicker!

StarBoard: @A-40,
I beg to disagree.
If the rule 12 which people are claiming implies intent, Nani shouldn't be sent off. Forget the play-acting. Nani was never going in maliciously on Arbeloa.
Furthermore, if we are talking dangerous play, how come the Vidic incident didn't warrant a read card, since it was to the head?
And i do not think that just because it's his area it gives the goalkeeper the authority to punch people in the head. If Vidic had suffered a concussion (which could have possibly happened), would you be defending a keeper who was slow to react?
Why was he play-acting if his conscience was clear? He did that ish on purpose! And then thought by feigning injury he could escape punishment! It was disgusting to watch! I'm sure if he didn't play-act he probably wouldn't have gotten sent off! If you observe it wasn't an immediate decision

Blame it on the laws that favor the goalies in such situation! It was an innocuous foul! Even Diaby didn't get sent off for kicking Terry in the head many moons ago! Same for Coloccini on Ba (was the wrong call IMO) But Lopez's foul was not as egregious as any of those

elampiro: You are not being fair in your judgment. If there was anyone who could have prevented that collusion, it was Arbeloa. Nani never saw him coming from behind until Arbeloa ran into him, because Nani has his eyes on the ball trying cool it down. That wasn't a kick on Abeloa, if you played football you should understand. That couldn't have led to any pains or injury to Arbeloa. It was Nani that had a hard fall from the tackle. We see such unintentional collusion every time in football. Colocini on Ba was far worse an incidence.
How can you even say Nani didn't see Arbeloa?? Was he blind? Make una no dey always involve sentiment for ball nau!! I'm asking you again if the foul was not intentional why was he rolling on the ground like someone that just got shocked by an electric eel? Why was he trying to con the ref?
If you believe that Nani was genuinely hurt from that kick then you would believe anything because he didn't jump that high!

elampiro: You said Diego Lopez was protecting his area? If a goalkeeper protects his area and foul an opponent inside the 18 box what is it? Or have you not seen keepers conceding penalties for bringing players down when they missed time their tackles in their 18 yard box? It looks to me you didn't watch the match and never saw these actions or your hate for United won't let you see the truth. That was a missed time tackle from Diego Lopez and he handed a heavy punch to Vidic's face. Vidic got the ball, but Lopez didn't, that was a dangerous tackle which prevented a goal scoring opportunity. It was worse offense than Nani's, though both were unintentional.
I watched the match Oga! That incident and Nani's case was not similar! And no the punch did not prevent a goal-scoring opportunity! No ref would ever blow for that because the rules are usually biased towards the goalies in corner-kicks or set-pieces anyway

This is 36 chambers of funny! Just the body language and everything! He was calmer than a muhphocka too!
To be honest tho McGee could be a complete klutz sometimes! Remember back when he was with the Wizards and was running back on defense while his team was still in possession at the other end of the floor! I remember Wilbon and Kornheiser putting him on blast a few times

elampiro: This is a worse incident than Nani's case.

The referee considered this dangerous tackle by Madrid keeper early in the match to be an accident (unintentional), and he gave Nani a red for an accidental collusion.

Vidic headed a United corner, Madrid keeper Diego Lopez came late, missed the ball, and gave Vidic a heavy punch. Vidic went own immediately.
Worse?? In your book maybe yes! A goalkeeper coming out to protect his territory is what you adjudge as worse? 9 times out of 10 in corner kicks like that the keeper usually gets the benefit of doubt! Also you didn't see the keeper rolling on the floor trying to con the ref

elampiro: Nani went for the ball, had his eyes on it, Arbeloa could have avoided Nani, be he decided to run into Nani from his (Nani) blind side. Then there was an unintentional (accidental) collusion. Nani got a red for that, while Diego Lopez walked free.

Don't forget Nani was in the air with his two feet when Arbeloa ran into him from behind. Imagine the impact on the ground and the pains. It was unexpected, is he made of iron?
You mean Arbeloa intentionally ran into Nani's leg? Hahahaha that's a good one!
What impact are you claiming Nani felt? The impact from kicking another player on the stomach! I can't believe you are even defending Nani's acting job that was so poor it woulda swept the Razzies!
