i just pmed you please. thank you

Mamaroon:
Not sure if I understood correctly but you can decline the interview waiver and ask to go for an interview...the last option tells you to pick yes or no.

If you pick interview waiver aka drop box...I'm not aware that you can submit any supporting doc. I may be wrong sha. Also you've probably read the experience of drop box applicants who were later called for 221g interview after many weeks.

If you pick an interview date...take all your receipts and itemized bills for previous birth and doctor and hospital correspondence for new birth with bank balance to show you can pay. From what you explained and reading your previous interview post I expect that this what the VOs would want you to do....again I may be wrong wink

Good luck.

Hi all, how are you doing today. so we selected the interview waiver option for the medical visa( Brief story i have a valid visa but i am changing to B2 visa specifially for birth purposes and my VO advised i do so at my last interview and because i still have a valid visa i had the option of selecting interview waiver or appear for interview), has anyone done this before and if yes please what supporting documents should i put in the application.
Thank you all

whao whao whao, thank you all for the responses and feedback. i know this platform is to help people and provide guidance when you feel lost and confused. So all the feedback has been noted.THANK YOU TO EVERYONE OO... WE ARE ALL HERE FOR EACHOTHER.

We booked my appointment and was offered the option of interview waiver apparently its like dropbox (because i still have a valid visa) which for real i am not even interested, i would rather book an appointment and face the VO's directly than have them decide my fate without me being there. The dates i am getting for the face interview is too close to my EDD (like a month) so i dont want to risk going for the interview by that time. Is there an option of an emergency interview or anyone had a similar case ..if yes what did you do.

Please people dont be tired of my numerous questions we are all here to learn and ask questions.

Aamey, na the one when people talk you dey find abi na the one when VO tell you? You were not issued a medical visa.

If doing the right thing is expensive and is giving you a headache then you can go ahead and do what you want. The consequences are yours and yours alone.

Anytime i get caught up the in right or wrong cross-hairs i remember Joyce Meyer saying......."You can feel wrong and still do what is right"

Thank you so much, your honest feedback have been noted and taken into consideration. I wasnt sure as i stated and i have applied for the B2.

OmoBendel24:
You actually need not be confused at all! You have specific instructions per that visa from your interviewing VO, that is, if you intend birthing in the US kindly come in for an interview for same. What then is confusing you?

If you apply for either a B1 or B2 here in Nigeria, Standard often if not all the time is that you will be issued a B1/B2 visa which cover all sorts of B purpose travels to the US, but at least should first be used for the purpose it was issued for. The thing however is that yours came with specific instructions not to birth with it, which if flouted clearly will heap loads of obstacles on your path to renewing that visa, you know that clearly.

I remember someone - Overlord or Jayfierce if my memory isn’t failing me - gave you a very plausible advice here which Eribooboo borrowed a leaf or two from to excel today. Are you backtracking?

Forget about renewing that visa if you go ahead and use it to birth in the US just like that. Pray too the CBP crew allow you in sef, don’t forget the VO’s note is there for them to read worldwide. Will advise, be careful my dear sister, be very careful! Don’t be a loser on many unnecessary fronts please.... Regards

Read my Dec 2017 experience here...I had a valid visa and still reapplied and attended an interview to declare my medical intention...what is 64k compared to being sent back at POE....my opinion o! Others were not of the same mind...even then.

Hello everyone, so i proceeded to apply for a B2 visa, i havent gotten a date yet but i have applied on the Website. My issue now is people are saying that since i have a valid B1B2 visa, even if i apply for a B2 visa i will still be issued a B1B2 visa. That applying for a new visa when i still have a valid one makes no sense and waste of money. My current visa expires in December 2019.

I am just confused at this point sef.

Biko guys come to my aid oo, since i have a valid visa i dont need to apply for a new one. that its only when it expires and i want to go give birth that is when i will apply specifically for B2 visa.

Friends in the house help crack this ooo....

Epidural is better, i have had both births(ie epidural and without pain meds), i tell you i wish i got the epidural early enough sef because i was induced.. but i noticed something doe, after birth i experienced a back aches and it still comes and goes. Before i had my second child i never had back aches but now it comes and goes and i know its the after effect of the epidural.
My next child will i have epidural, yes i will coz the pain aint no joke.

Hello house,

Please can someone tell me from experience which one is better. using Epidural during vaginal birth and natural. Pls mama that have experienced both ( epidural and natural) kindly advise on the pros and cons.

Isnt God wonderful... I am very happy for you oo., i think maybe because you are not having a baby this time around also helped.
Congratulations jare and enjoy your trip.

olamie:
Hello everyone, thanks for the contribution. I thought I should share the outcome -

VO: How long did you stay the last time?
Me: 176 Days
VO: Why?
Me: I started bleeding right after I got to the US. I had my baby taken out prematurely to save my life. The doctor said I could not fly back to Nigeria and a written note was given to me to that effect.
VO: Can I see that?
I handed over the report
VO: How did you pay your bills?
Me: I sourced for a private insurance following the incident and it got approved. I bought the Platinum Plan, which costs about $500 per month.
VO: Did you pay the insurance premiums out of pocket?
Me: Yes I did
VO: Can I see the premium receipts and itemized bill?
I handed that as well.
VO: Has anyone filed for you?
Me: Yes
VO: Who did?
Me: My Sister
VO: Do you intend to have a baby this time?
Me: No I don’t
That was how he handed a white paper to me and told me to pick up my passport in 3 working days o.

Isn’t God just wonderful?
That was how I packed my burden of proof back.
Apparently, if you have a guarantor in the US, a Private insurance can be approved.
To everyone who contributed, thank you and I wish you good luck in your endeavor.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by aamey15: 1:24am On Mar 24, 2019
Upto it if you mean in terms of funds definately isnt a problem... if i had to pay 12k at first time i would have but the bill i actually got was 4k. All i gotta do now is research hospitals in Chicago and get their bills, make enquiry and package the application for the interview and move on... not an issue at all...
My main point of enquiry if you followed my story was on either to go for the new visa or not...

OmoBendel24:

I think i should clarify better. I renewed 2018 and was issued the B1b2 visa however i was advised to get a medical visa in the future if i intend to birth in the US again. So thats settled. The worry as i stated earlier is of i go for a new interview which will obviously cancel my current b1b2...the issues of birthing under 4k will still arise and thats my fear... no problem i will research on d hospitals and seek d ones that are not discounted
Thanks for your response

OmoBendel24:
She was instructed to seek a medical visa if for any reason she wants to birth in the US. That’s a settled matter as far as I’m concerned. It will be disastrous for her not to go back there via an interview to get a new visa for birthing purposes despite having a valid visa.

If she goes for the interview, her previously resolved 4k birthing bill might resurface, but I strongly believe she has passed that level she has passed it, but I’m still worried somehow....

Hello i renewed with John stroger aswell, did they complain about the fees paid. I had my babay in 2016 and paid 4k but the VO complained about the price being too low before he issued the visa but told me i must get a medical visa before i have my next child

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by aamey15: 5:09pm On Mar 22, 2019
Truth be told this your story just made me a lil scared. Even though you explained that the fee was the going rate at the time. During my visa renewal(B1B2), the VO expressed that the fee was small(4k) and all but he gave us the visa. However he stated that if i want to travel to deliver i need to change my visa to Medical. Now my current visa is valid till December, i am scared that if i go for interview to change the visa they might not approve with all this there low fee palava. and if i decide to rough it and use my B1B2, further renewals in the future might be very difficult coz i am sure the VO wrote those comments in my file. I am just confused at this moment i tell you.

mrsbw:
My visa was refused because the amount was low. She actually told me i should have done more research to know that the bill was low when i asked why the embassy didnt point it out

Told her that was the going rate in Houston as I got several bills before deciding on WHMC.

She then said a decision had already been made.

Congratulations.

This is surely a breathe of fresh air after all the drama we have been reading on the thread. And by Gods grace beautiful rainbow baby will be here soon.

Blackfinegirl:
I have been a silent follower.

let me drop my transcript here.

I applied via drop box to renew my usa visa and I stated I was going for medicals. 221g letter was sent to me and I rescheduled for interview. Unfortunately a week to my interview I had pre term labour at 6 months and they could not keep the baby since he was not up to 7 months. I reschedule my interview due to health reasons after delivery.

Today I went for my interview at Abuja consular.

VO: When last did you go the usa.
me: 2013

vo: how long did you stay?
me: 2 to 3 weeks

vo: for what ?
me: Christmas holiday

vo: who do you know?
me: my brother

vo: how did he get to usa:
me: visa lottery

vo: I can see you wanted to stay for three months, why?
me: so I explained how i lost my baby at 6 months just before the interview, so i rescheduled.

vo; what does you husband do, how much does he earn?
me: I answered her.

vo: what do you do?
me: answered

vo: I can see you earn ......
me; yes i do and my salary has been upgraded this month to......

vo: will you have a baby within the next two years?
me: yes of course.

vo: will use like to give birth in the us
me: yes, if doctors gives me the go ahead to travel, due to my history.

VO: What countries have you visited
me: Uk,France, Spain, Luxembourg, Netherlands ,Belgium, Uae, Gambia, Benin rep..etc

vo: okay, i will be giving you this visa, please pay all your bills and do not accept any discount. get your itemized bills and all the necessary receipts.
me: yes i will

me: I asked her if i needed to inform them when next I get pregnant, she said no, but i should declare it at the point of entry, and have enough funds to cover my treatment.

Thank you lord for this victory, and for doing something for me to wipe away my tears.

Hello once again would you advice i apply for the medical visa with my husband and son, bearing in mind i might travel with only my son and daughter and hubby might stay back. or should i just leave them to use their B1B2 visa since their purpose of visit will be for tourism while mine will be for birth.
sorry if the story is complicated, i can send a PM.

OmoBendel24:
Those notes are definitely there. Turning up for an interview should be the correct and most appropriate thing to do still, especially having previously resolved the former birthing at an interview with them. But like you I’m more afraid that $4K matter may just come up and affect your application much more than the timing of the previous pregnancy.

One thing is certain, if you don’t take the “risk” of going in for an interview now, you may have to use a crane to pull down everything US Embassy to ever renew that visa, like a camel passing through the needle’s eye precisely.... Difficult as it seems, It’s in your best interest to do it now please!

Thank you for your honest and detailed response its a big risk, if i dont change to medical.. that means i am probably saying bye to further renewals because for sure they will call me for the dreaded interview.

If i go now the VO might ask questions about the amount. Left to me it is safer and better to just go now and face the consequences.

Re:medical visa like how far gone would you advise i present an application. and do you have an idea of hospitals in Chicago i can get correspondence from. The last birth i used Cook County John Stroger but they dont issue letters.

uote author=Nersh post=76585794]I have been a silent reader of this thread and it has been extremely helpful in guiding me as i prepare for my baby’s birth in the US. I decided to share my interview with the VO:
VO: good afternoon, passport please. Why r u going to the US?
Me: afternoon. To have my baby. Hands over passport
VO: where else have you travelled to?
Me: UK, SA, dubai, Mauritius etc
VO: for holiday?
Me: Not only. School, work.
VO: ok. So where will you be staying in the US and do you have your doctor’s documents?
ME: will be staying with an uncle in Chicago. Hands over doctor’s correspondence and budget sheet over. I had a budget of about $12k for medicals.
VO: ok. Reviews docs. Looks at a list on her wall seems to be a list of procing for medicals across cities. So what do you do and how much do you earn per month.
Me: tells her.
VO: thank you. You have been approved for a visa and you can pick up in 3 days at VI. Also please beware of discounts when you go as this might affect your duture chances of renewing your visa.

I thank her, say i have seen that in some of my research and will do well to heed her warning.

She wishes me well with the baby and i leave. This was over in 5 minutes.

It seems this discount issue is a big deal. And intwreatingly, all the hospitals i have contacted have. Discount for self pay patients. The only one who didnt was quoting $50k.

Not sure what to do but will wait till 2 years time to worry.

Good day all,
Please i have a few question but will give a brief history. Had my lo in 2016 and got the visa in 2015(truly didnt know i was pregnant) and when hubby and I wanted to renew our visa last year we did the dropbox but we were called in for interview. Luckily for us we were granted the visa. The interview was long but thankfully the VO believed us and we explained we didnt know i was pregnant at the time(he counted backwards and realised i must have been 3 weeks gone or so). The total fees I paid was about 4k for my selfpay package at cook county in Chicago and at the time the VO said it was cheap but i told him thats what we paid. At the end of the interview he stated that if i want to go for my next delivery i must apply for medical visa only and must not use my normal B1/B2 visa for birth.
So we used the visa to travel for summer last year but mama is pregnant now and due around Sept.
Question:
Do i apply for the medical visa and have the current one cancelled coz from the look of things people are getting denied
Can i just risk using this B1B2 which expires in december to give birth
I am just confused coz i dont wanna do over sabi but scared the man might have written those notes in my file and POE might be difficult even renewal.

Sorry for my long epistle people.

I used cook county in 2016 and paid about 4k and renewed my visa last year. I applied for the dropbox but was invited for an interview with my husband and son.. i posted my story a while back. The interview was a bit long because the Vo drilled me, asked questions about the bill being too small, why i had my child when i informed them at the interview that i was going for holiday. I had to explain to him that i didnt know i was pregnant then he asked me for my daughter's passport then he counted backwards from the date of delivery to the date i applied for the initial visa.

I had to explain explicitly and he asked for my zero balance, proof of appointment, who my doctor was after the long drilling he said a few things which i shared on the platform
1. Letter of intent that we sent the embassy makes no difference
2. I should apply for medical visa when i am going for my next missionary journey
3. The hospitals usually apply for refund after deliveries hence his questions about the price

I am guessing they will call you for interview but get your docs ready, and have enough proof to explain to the Vo that you paid all your bills.

NIFES:
Good afternoon everyone;
Please any mama(s) here that used JH Stroger cook county in Chicago for birthing and has/have renewed their visa should please share their experiences as regards this discount or no discount saga.

My Dropbox application is going to 2 weeks now and I have not heard any feedback from the embassy.

My question is, does JH stroger OB- package for self-pay patients qualify as discounted bill?
I paid a total of 7.35k dollars; is till considered to small for normal delivery and red flag in visa renewal.
This suspense is annoying and unfair.
Please help shed some light on this.

Thanks all.
