Congrats Viola. Safest option taken. Well done! Now you can travel with a relaxed mind.
Hi house, This is Viola once again, just like i earlier stated, i got B1B2 visa in sept 2017 later took in oct.2017. I brought the issue here, though DH also was seeking answers both on and offline. He came back one day and we both decided to try again by redeclaring our intent. We paid and booked for interview for today. |
Congrats @ugoguchy. Really happy for you. |
Hello Viola and House, Safest Option - Fill another DS-160 and schedule another interview to declare your intention of child birth. This option gives you more confidence at POE and increases your visa renewal chances in the future. Next Option - If possible, travel for a vacation with the visa before travelling for child birth. With this option, be prepared for possible drilling at POE for child birth trip. Also, chances of getting visa renewed subsequently is reduced as several people that have done this option have been denied recently after being called for interview following dropbox application. Last Option - Travel for child birth with visa. But be prepared for possible drilling at POE which can be quite stressful. Chances for getting visa renewed subsequently is greatly reduced. Generally, it appears the VOs have seen an increasing trend in people getting pregnant after getting VISAs and seem to be on the look out for such trends with high visa renewal denials following non-declaration of intent to use visa for medical purpose including childbirth. If there is any likelihood that you would use a visa for childbirth subsequently after a planned vacation, declare this intent even if you are not pregnant at the interview and ensure it is documented. I totally condemn any act of rape in whatever form and believe the guys in question should be answerable to their actions. However, I am not particularly impressed with the lady in question and I believe this should serve as a lesson especially to ladies. Reading through the stories, why would she have continued hanging out with the clique of friends after such continuous molestation? Because of nude pics leaking? And how did the nude pics come about? This is a lame reason with all due respect! This idea of a lady going over and over to a guys place to be raped and then coming out later to accuse the guy get as e be (excuse my pidgin). I did not catch any experience that saw the guy or guys raping her in her house. I think the approach in reporting this kind of scenario should be to share your experience with a view to giving other ladies advice on how to avoid such situations and learn from your mistakes. |
Hello Hauz, Thanks to all contributors here. I have taken time to go through all parts of this educative thread. For those that have used Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC), can you kindly share how it works and the advantage it presents over going for a Nigerian Visa or passport. Not much has been discussed about it although it appears cheaper than the VISA option from what I have read. Are there any special requirements to use it and are there any implications that may arise later if it is used? |
I would rather not refer to the VP as a piece of ornament. He has his duties well outlined in the constitution. This does not however mean that he must be the number 2 man in terms of responsibility. Being number 2 means that he is the next in command if anything happens to the C in C. It is important to observe that several developed countries have officials that have more responsibilities than the VP. Take USA as an example, you hear more of the activities of the Secretary of State and Chief of Staff when compared to the VP. So bringing it back home, its okay for a tested hand like Fashola to have more responsibilities than the VP in the capacity of a minister but we should avoid bringing up ideas that the VP's role is not relevant also. In the end, what we want is good governance... |
Putting the political parties aside and trying to be objective, Ajimobi deserves to continue as governor in Oyo state following what he has achieved. It is not morally right for any of the past governors to be contesting to come back to that position after seeing what an Ajimobi has achieved that they were not near to achieving. People that can see what Ibadan is now and what it was 5 years ago and before, would understand better. Permit me to add... Reasonable people |
Nobody saved anybody... The senators must have already had a previous meeting to decide on who makes it or not. The calling of names on the floor for confirmation was more or less a formality. If the confirmation was not already decided and agreed, those that appeared to be against by louder shouts of NAY would have rejected the result of Saraki. But they all accepted and laughed about it and moved on.... |
Hello house, pls what options are available for hospitals and accommodation in atlanta. |
Hello House, Thanks for all the contributions and advice. Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to give birth in Melbourne, Florida? Thanks. |

You guys want PMB to respond the same way GEJ responded ineffectively. What do you think he can do within one week in power that will be different from GEJ? At least, give him the 2 months he stated, if that would allow him strategise to end BH once and for all. I would certainly criticize PMB if there are no visible results by then. But being a reasonable person, its hard to see what he can achieve within a week. From what I observe, a lot of criticism against PMB at this point is too early and biased and majorly from aggrieved GEJ loyalists. Wake up to the reality, PMB is in charge. We all need to move thus country forward and be positive. All these criticisms would be welcome and more appropriate after 100 days in office. Trust me, I would strongly criticize also if status quo remains. |
princeofpeace22:Permit me to respond to this and similar posts that suggest PMB is touring this period. In my opinion and maybe for those that may not have been opportuned to travel out for leisure or tourism, locations like Niger and Chad are not in anyway tourist destinations. It is unfair and rather stupid for people to suggest that PMB is busy touring and enjoying himself while BH is carrying out attacks. Clearly, he knows there is lot of expectations, so let us allow him to carry out his strategy. With less than a week in power, any immediate response to BH attacks would be no different than what GEJ has been doing all this while that has not been effective in eradicating BH. An adage says its only a mad man that expects a different result when doing the same things over again. The loss of lives is sad but let us allow PMB strategise and plan coordinated efforts to eradicate BH. Any reasonable and objective person should know that such plans cant take 1 week! PLEASE PRAY FOR PMB AND NIGERIA AND STOP THESE SILLY COMMENTS |
While I indeed look forward to a quick end of this BH madness, I think PMB should be given a little time to settle in properly and go for the kill. Rushed decisions on repelling BH may fill in as stop gap bt not uproot them and put a final end. It appears to me that PMB is being methodical and thorough in his approach as such may not go for a reactive and immediate response. However, such actions should not delay for too long. Reading through comments, it is clear that objectivity has been thrown away and people are making careless comments and attacks. Nobody is happy about the loss and waste of lives. Lets pray that PMB settles in asap to be able to carry out his plans and wipe BH out completely. |
PDP playing mind games and hoping APC would fall for this and not select a consensus candidate before the elections. Trust me, the moment there is no APC consensus candidate, PDP would present David Mark and win back the seat as APC members would split their votes. If there is an APC consensus candidate however, PDP would play the card of appearing to keep their promise of not interfering and allowing APC to decide... And PDP loyalists would be praising PDP for this. Scammers! |
okpanachil:The famous certificate has now been found by our Military, but for the purpose of discussion, let us assume that this certificate (SSCE) was not available. Are you really aware of what the constitution says regarding qualification of the candidates? The constitution provides for other certificates that may be deemed as equivalent or surpassing. GMD having passed through several training colleges has certificates that override the so called SSCE certificate so it would never have been an issue. To put it in perspective, if you have a Masters degree certificate, it overrides your First degree certification even if you had a 3rd class. PDP and people like you, just fell into the trap of focussing of non-issues instead of gaining relevant momentum for the GEJ administration. Try and learn a lesson from this. |

hush15:By your post, are you suggesting that GEJ still remains president after the handing over ceremony of May 28th until when GMD is sworn in on May 29th? If this is so and well understood and agreed, then no cause for alarm. But if the case is that GEJ loses his power by this handing over ceremony, and there is a vacuum in government until GMD is sworn in, then this is a National security risk and should not be taken lightly. SANs and people that understand the constitution better have warned that the later is the case and I think that's why this issue is taking spotlight. |
hush15:Thanks for your response. If it was as you have suggested, nobody would have an issue. But the point is that it is not like this. Even Learned SANs have pointed out that this scenario of May 28 to May 29 would lead to a prolonged vacuum of up to possible 8 hours! The hand over must definitely hold before the swearing in as you have noted, but then, the 2 processes should occur almost immediately within the same time frame to minimize the vacuum time. Once handing over is done, GEJs tenure and cabinet is over. GMDs tenure only starts when sworn in and he has no power before then as you suggest. Between these two periods, none of them is accountable for Nigeria! If you understand what this means, you would understand the concern. I personally do not think any evil is planned but this is a huge security and National risk if there would be up to eight hours vacuum of no accountable leadership. The idea of a dinner is good and its okay for him to have an outgoing dinner, but not to hand over then, so as to make the transition seamless and devoid of vacuum. To put this in better perspective, vacuum in the seat of government is a good reason for the military to step in and handle the affairs of a country. |
hush15:Guy, indeed there is a difference. And its because of this difference that the two processes should be done simultaneously to avoid a vacuum in the governance of this Country. If you understand politics and governance very well, you would know that 8 hours between handover and swearing in is a very big risk for a country wherein there is no one accountable for the leadership of the country within those hours. And that's the concern being voiced out, which any reasonable person should understand. |
kodded:Wrong line of argument.... The issue of our youths today. |
I wonder when youths that are supposed to be the future of this country would drop partisan politics and think through some issues logically and with common sense. It is rather painful that several people choose to be blinded by "followership" and support illogical arguments. No matter how much you love the incumbent and hate the incoming, there is some sense and valid point raised in the concern that it is not proper for hand over to occur several hours before swearing in the next day. This is the issue that should be looked at. Handover and swearing in should occur simultaneously to avoid vacuum in government. Even if there is no evil motive behind this suggestion of separating the events, it is not late for GEJ to readjust to the usual practice due to the valid concerns that have been raised. This is a simple matter that does not require attacking APC for raising or defending PDP for their move. Please youths, lets be reasonable in our arguments and not making issues out of non-issues. |
To think that no Nigerian station is giving us live feeds an doing some investigative journalism on this issue right now is pathetic. There should be information on the passengers that boarded the plane by now. The traffic control department should also be able to provide some information on last minute details... |
Hi Guys, got the same mail also. Thank God, it looks more positive than negative. Lets keep hoping for the best. Cheers. |
Men, Lets just remain prayerful. Dont think they have called anyone yet. God dey, |
