He lost it long time ago....He has been ceremonial president for Long. My annoyance is that they didn't allow OSINBAJO to come into the loop of decision making so things can turn around as we witnessed in the few weeks he acted as President.

If you consider all you mentioned, then at what amount do you think one can get such land/property. No one dreams of getting a land where development is yet to encroach but when you consider the amount you have, you will be forced to do more feasibility study as some areas might have the above you mentioned in few years after settlement have started coming in. Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Dave Umahi, has reversed the appointment of 16 permanent secretaries made by former Governor Martin Elechi, barely a week to the end of his administration.

Umahi reversed the appointment on Thursday in Abakaliki during a meeting with the leadership of the organised labour in the state and the Christian Association of Nigeria.

The governor said he took the decision because his administration inherited an empty treasury from its predecessor, adding that the appointment of additional permanent secretaries would create more problems for the government.

He said, “The state government is finding it difficult to pay workers’ salaries as it grapples with the challenge of meeting other financial needs.

“The appointment was also riddled with controversies and has witnessed several agitations against it by organised labour and other relevant stakeholders.”

The governor has set up a committee, headed by the State Deputy Governor, Mr Kelechi Igwe, to look into the accounts of the state government and make adequate representation to the government.

“I call on workers to be ready to make some sacrifices and offer necessary cooperation to ensure that the state attains its developmental goals,” Umahi said.

The governor also ordered the immediate sacking of the General Manager of the State Environmental Protection Agency, Dr Chukwuemeka Okeh.

The sacking followed a complaint by one of the labour leaders on the filthy nature of the state, especially Abakaliki.

“The contract of environmental contractors, which was earlier terminated, has been reversed immediately to ensure that the heaps of refuse, littering the capital city, are evacuated,” he said.

State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwaforin, urged the state government to block all leakages noticed in public expenditure.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday interrogated Mr Mike Okiro, the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC) and five others over alleged N275.5 million fraud.

The commission also interrogated Insp. George Todonu, Okiro’s Orderly and Mr A.A Bisala, Chief Accountant of PSC, who reported at the ICPC headquarters, Abuja, in connection to the alleged fraud.

Mr E.C Ibe, Mr B. Bello and Mr Raymond Imiobi were also at the ICPC headquarters for interrogation in connection to the alleged fraud.

Okiro arrived at the commission at about 9.51 a.m. in a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number T98 01FG (PSC).

A source at the ICPC headquarters who preferred anonymity said the invitation of Okiro and other staff of PSC followed a petition published in one of the national dailies.

He said the petition titled “Attempt to Swindle the Police Service Commission to the tune of N275.5 million”, was written by Mr Aaron Kaase, a Principal Administrative Officer at PSC.

The petitioner had accused Okiro of diverting N350 million sought from the office of the National Security Adviser for staff training ahead of the 2015 general elections to his personal use.

He said claims by Okiro that the training programmes were held in three separate lots for Abuja, Kano and Lagos staff of the commission were frivolous, adding that such trainings were never organized.

Kaase faulted Okiro’s claims on the ground that the staff strength of the commission was less than 400 as against 900 said to have benefited from the training.
He also accused Okiro of claiming DTA for journeys never embarked upon for himself and his aids. (NAN)
