Godspower35: Buying a car is a big investment, and for most of us, a car is something we want to keep running for as long as possible. But sometimes our own bad habits are the worst enemy of a car. What are you owed?
Ignore the parking brake
Even if you are parked on a level surface, there is really no reason not to use the parking brake. If you do not engage the parking brake, the entire weight of your vehicle is placed on a small piece of metal in the transmission, the parking pawl. It's only about as big as your finger, so it can wear out if you hold that weight. By using the parking brake, the load is relieved, which keeps sensitive transmission components longer.
Keep the tank low
Many fuel pumps stay cool when they stay submerged in the fuel. So if you regularly run to a quarter or less, there is a risk that the fuel pump must be replaced faster. Paying more at the gas station may sting, but it does not hurt as much as needing a new fuel pump.
Abrupt change of car reverse
It may not seem that bad at the moment, but over time such sudden changes in direction can really damage your transmission. Stop completely before moving on instead. This only adds a second of time and will prevent future damage to the engine, transmission or axle.
Turning before the engine is hot
Letting your car rest for a minute or two just after starting is a good idea. It helps to distribute the oil in the engine and to put the engine block and the oil at temperature. Running the engine will not speed up the process. In fact, this could cause easily avoided damage. The cold regime causes sudden changes in temperature that create a constraint between the well-fitting components of the engine. Just give it 60 seconds before you hit the road and everything has warmed up for reliable performance.
Flooring when you do not need it
All car enthusiasts feel the temptation to exercise at full speed from time to time. A problem with this is that you usually have to crush the brakes to slow down. Neither is good for your car. A strong acceleration consumes a ton of fuel and imposes a heavy load on the components of the transmission. Full force stops cause rapid wear of the brake pads and rotors.
Using the switch as a hand rest
Driving a car with a manual gearbox can be a lot of fun, and as you row through the aisles, it feels like you have one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the gear lever. Not If you keep your hand on the gear lever, the bushings and synchronizers of the gearbox are overloaded, which leads to premature wear. It is best to leave both hands on the steering wheel. They help your transmission and can take over control if you need to make a sudden steering maneuver.
The clutch abuse
If you stop, hold the clutch to the ground. In this way, you can progressively move forward when traffic is moving, or you can be ready when the light turns green. However, if you leave the clutch in the stopped state, the surfaces will scratch against each other, causing them to wear out and create the possibility of failure. The release bearing, the release arm and the pressure plate can also be damaged. Instead of driving the clutch with the shift lever engaged, use the neutral gear lever to disengage the clutch. When it's time to go, engage the clutch, grab first and drive.
It carries too much weight
The more car weighs, the more emphasis on its drive system, its suspension and braking, and the more fuel it consumes - it's so easy. Do everything you can to make your car as easy as possible. We do not recommend that the air conditioner or sound system be cut, but clean the excess waste. While removing a few pounds of weight, you can only add an extra mile to a gas boiler, which can really make a difference in the long run. Make sure the car is stocked daily with daily supplies and stores the residue elsewhere.
The Brake Rides Down
Sometimes you have to brake if you go down to avoid running too fast. However, this may cause the brake pads and rotor parts to warm up, causing wear and increase the risk of overheating or deflection. As a solution, try to switch to a lower gear. Natural decompression in the drive chain helps to maintain the car at a safe speed. So if you have to find the brakes, you'll find it more efficient.
naijaseeker: For clarity, TSA and BVN are Ngozi Okonjo Iweala's brainchild under Jonathan.
APC government is simply a propaganda machinery. For clarity and understanding on the fight against corruption, see the videos of Datti Baba Ahmed below.
Fight against corruption should be systematic, pragmatic and sustained. Immediately Buhari started with the concept that he and certain other people are above corruption, I knew we have lost the fight before it started. Everybody has the potential to be corrupt. EFCC, ICPC, DSS, President, etc.
A sincere and realistic fight against corruption will systematically identify what is corruption. There will not be room for assumptions. Are we fighting mere stealing, embezzlement, bribery, extortion, systematic and legally supported public fund mismanagement, use of security vote, improper award of contracts, improper and unfair allocation of public funds. Police extortion, improper subsidization of government workers etc.
Then identify the different institutions to fight it. Police will fight under the Criminal code. EFCC under its law, customs under its laws, the judiciary etc. Then develop an administrative command for coordination and liaison. This is to avoid arresting judges and declaring that corruption is a state security issue. That is also another form of corruption. Administrative harassment of judges. The assumption here is DSS are saints but judges can be corrupt. ( I laugh).
The pragmatic analysis is Buhari inherited various agencies and non was his brain child. He failed to analysis and synchronize them in order to know those to stop, new ones to start and how to maintain synthesis.
At the end of the day, he depended on public goodwill of his sainthood but the reality is, he is human, we are human and we are Nigerians. So what do we have, a Maina, Babachir Lawal, an EFCC vs DSS show of relevance and the money is still missing. This created a situation where nothing changed and people from South especially SS and SE are heavily disenfranchised and disenchanted. He told them the 97:5 ratio by the way.
So where exactly is the fight against corruption. Why is the shop still closed?
Nothing makes sense than this. walahi! You are well learned fella! Bright mind spotted.
chrischukszy01: They can clone him over and over again! All I know am on my way out of Nigeria for good. Cheee God of Shiloh has done it for me. Dominion tinx!
If you are a true winner, love for Nigeria must be in your heart! Not a selfish mindset like this.
Nigeriadondie: Are you justifying fraud because of the ‘blind or good works’ of yahoo boys? Do you realise that EFCC can’t probe Ganduje because as a serving governor he enjoys immunity from prosecution and so EFCC can’t do anything? Rather let the lawmakers who themselves are thieves made the law to protect thieves.
noturbusiness: oya leave us alone na. that you throw your name away does not mean you will have more of the good things in life than we that insist on keeping our name. those that are ruling this world today did not get there just by throwing away their names
What is this one saying Who is throwing name away? How does my wife retaining her father's name throwing away my name
noturbusiness: we never tried forcing anyone. the advice is for those willing to listen. you can call it crap same way your opinion is crappy to me
Thank you. But spreading craps like this is barbaric in the world of today. I ask again. Who name don help. I am more concerned with the wealth I want to live for my generation yet unborn. That way, my name will live for ever....
noturbusiness: It was you who dragged your life into this argument. If you can use your life as an example, we can also be allowed to question your life
You can question my lifestyle surely. This is public domain. Just dnt try forcing this crap on me and others. Expecially using religious pretext!
noturbusiness: Will using only your name stop her from loving her father? check through all my comments you will not see anyone that talk submission and name. but I agree with the op view since the idea behind refusing to change to your husband's name is a feminist vision to equate a woman with a man. if not, the husband name does not harm or stop you from loving your dad. the husband name is so important that in the Bible, that even if a man is to be dead and he left no kids, his wife is to keep his name and the late man brother will perform brother-in-law marriage on her and any offsprings raised will bear the late man name. why did they have to go such length of the man's name can be thrown away easily?
Lazy minds think this way. If you live a fulfilled life, your name will never perish. Wether you have children or not. It is not children that carry your name on, but the life you live. Examples are, Jesus, Mohammed, Paul, Peter, Isaiah, 2pac, Martin Luther, Martin Luther king Jr, Ghandi, Albert Eisten, Galileo, Aristotle, Tafawa Balewa, just a few whose deeds and legacies still echo their names today. Many have children who carries their names, but still, nobody knows them Abeg who ordinary name help? A good life is better than a mere tag. If you dnt know, a name is nothing but a tag for identification. Nothing more!!!
noturbusiness: Will using only your name stop her from loving her father? check through all my comments you will not see anyone that talk submission and name. but I agree with the op view since the idea behind refusing to change to your husband's name is a feminist vision to equate a woman with a man. if not, the husband name does not harm or stop you from loving your dad. the husband name is so important that in the Bible, that even if a man is to be dead and he left no kids, his wife is to keep his name and the late man brother will perform brother-in-law marriage on her and any offsprings raised will bear the late man name. why did they have to go such length of the man's name can be thrown away easily?
noturbusiness: you did it because you were too scared to ask her to leave her father's name. if you think it is not important she bear her husband's name, why did you include yours to her father's name? if she use only your name you guys will stop being one big family abi?
Guy, I brought the issue up myself because I saw how she loves her father. She was so surprised and stunned! See, real men go extra length to make their women feel loved and connected. Well it's my life. You can go on with your principles, but don't even try forcing it on others. And dnt even try connecting this subject to the bible verses quoted. They do not tally at all. What concerns name and submisiveness
noturbusiness: the Jewish tradition is the bedrock of Christianity and we are talking about Christianity here . wait for a post about Africa so you can talk about your Africa . don't worry, when you get married you will understand that those sweet words men are actually worst than we that are principled
And you think am not married? Why should a woman drop her fathers name because I married her? Infact, I was even the one who included her father's name with my father's. See, my wife's father is my father too. One big family..
noturbusiness: did you see anywhere in the Bible where women names were use in the genealogical history of the Israelite? the rules about respecting ones husbands name was so strict in the Bible that a certain Naomi and her late son wife had to keep her late husband name so they can raise children from another man to keep the family name and our Lord Jesus came out of that lineage. respecting ones husbands name was so important in the Bible where that if a man was to die childless, his brother is to meet with his wife to help raise children and the children will not be his but must belong to his late brother and they must bear his late brothers name.
Imagine an african basing his life on ancient jewish tradition So why are you not wearing robes like them? Is there anywhere in the bible that said you should fly planes to travel? Why cant you live your life like the jews you so proclaim their laws?? A woman can never be truly happy with men like you. Na una bi- order is order..
alBHAGDADI: Are you both expecting the Bible to expressly spell it out for you? It's the same thing as asking me to show you where the Bible says we shouldn't kill with a gun. You won't find such, but the Bible says "thou shall not murder".
Including your father's name to your husband's name shows lack of submission to the authority your husband has over you. Submit to your husband doesn't mean you can do whatever you like. It simply means submit in all things, name included. Failure to observe submission when it comes to name is the same as disobedience.
Abeg carry your religious fanatism go elsewhere.
Talking about murder Is murder not murder despite the weapon used
Your comparism is so wack!
You don't know nada about life and human existence, you are just filled with religious fallacies...
It's simply the fallacy of the twisted ideology of feminism in Nigeria encouraged by effeminated fvckboy sissy husbands.
Some of these mumu husbands have no sense of self-worth, they even consider it a privilege that their wives agreed to marry them hence this fvckery thrives.
Well, unless her father gave you a price slash in the marriage list or you incompletely paid her brideprice, then she can keep it. But only a foolish man will allow his wife retain her maiden name or include it with his.
Izzou nwanne m onye oma, Let me add two to the one you've mentioned.
- Tolu Oniru-Demuren, - Funke Akindele-Bello.
But please don't tell me what else they have in common aside retaining their maiden names.
alBHAGDADI: In today's world, many women find it trendy and classy including their father's name to their husband's name when they get married. Most of them don't even know why it's done, they just do it because they saw others doing it. Many of such women profess to be Christians without knowing that doing such is an open rebellion against their father, their husband and God who instituted marriage from the beginning.
This evil rebellious trend was made popular by Hollywood where you see a Jada Pinkett married to Will Smith now choosing to call herself Jada Pinkett-Smith. The trend quickly got copied by African actresses like Omotola Jalade who got married to Mr. Ekeinde now choosing to call herself Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. These popular people whom many have chosen as role models have led many into emulating the same idea. That's why many Nigerian ladies on Facebook now have hyphenated names.
This new trend which seems like what has come to stay is a total disregard for God and tradition. Please read the below Bible passages.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
The first excuse women who have hyphenated names give is that they are honoring their father who raised them by giving them the best which made them who they are today. That's why they have to retain his name when married just to ensure his name lives on. This is stupidity at it's highest order. Such a woman is only satisfying her ego and not her father.
Did the poor man ever asked to be honored let alone in that way? Did he tell you that when he got married to his own wife, he allowed her to do such to him? Why do you now think he will be happy to know you are causing pain to a young man who is your husband all in the name of an honor he never asked for?
The above passage says you should honor your father and mother, but before that it says OBEY your parents. Failing to do the first part is the reason why you are honoring your father in the wrong manner. If you truly love your father, then why did you disobey what he did on the day you got married?
On the day you got married, he did something symbolic which is very traditional. He walked you down to the altar and handed you over to the man whom you got married to on your wedding day. What he simply did was handover authority over you to your husband and new daddy. It is him you are to obey henceforth. Not saying you are to now start disregarding your parents, but they now have a little authority over your life.
You obeyed your father while under his roof. He gave you the best due to your obedience. Now that he has given you to a man as wife, it is that man you are to obey just as you did your father. Bringing in your father or his name into the man's house is the same as having two captains in a ship. Your father won't even want that because such was never done to him. Hyphenating your name is the same as saying that when your father walked you down the alter, he never handed you over to your husband, instead he also got married to him just as you did.
Some women will say they hyphenate just to preserve their father"s name. Won't that same name die when you die? Can you see how stupid that reasoning is?
Another quarter will say their father's name open doors for them, so they have to keep it because the name of the man whom they married can not even ring a bell but not to talk of opening doors.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the L ORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Such women are trusting in man instead of God. They believe God who said they should submit to their husband cannot direct their path, so they rely on their rich and famous earthly father who can drop dead at any minute. What is wrong with such women is pride and greed. They don't want to seem to know that they are no longer under their father's roof. They want to eat their cake and have it.
If you don't love a man well enough to submit to him and bear his name alone, then marriage is not for you. Stay in your father's house and keep enjoying the benefits of his name. Getting married and disregarding all of these will mean you have disobeyed many persons.
First you have disobeyed God who told you to submit to your husband just as you submit to Him.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Secondly, you have disobeyed your father who symbolically handed you over to your husband as the new authority over you. You have done the wrong thing.
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Thirdly, you have failed to submit to your husband. No wonder many married women are not having happiness in their homes. They do everything right without knowing that this one single thing that looks harmless is what is causing God to prevent happiness from reigning in their household.
As for sissy men who allow their wives to keep their father's name, your kind is the reason why society is messed up today. If you look at your marriage carefully, you will see that you lack authority there all because you allowed one foolishness to come into it. You are disobeying God by changing traditions.
Proverbs 22:28 King James Version (KJV) Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
This is the most stupid and baseless topic I've read on nairaland! What rubbish. Just mention where d bible said this specifically...
Afamed: Do we need to change the government and put another one that early spent 16yrs without direction? Come straight . Within 3/ 4 yrs everything should have been made perfect? Surely you are not being sincerely to yourself
If I can't see any sensible govt policy, there is no need coming back. This govt has done nothing to change how things are been done in low and high government places. Go to those offices, its still business as usual. For them nothing as change. Its still as easy as it was to ask for bribe before getting your right in many instances in this country! No single school or hospital was even touched. No improve standard of living. Give me one solid proof that this government will not continue with pdp did this and that in the next dispensation if voted again?
I am not expecting miracle from president Buhari. I am only holding apc by their words. Many promises were made man.
5k for unemployed youths: Where is that one? The president boldly said and I quote, "The 5k promised to the unemployed youths was not my agenda. It was the party manifesto. To be sincere, did anyone of you ever heard it from", end of quote. Where is the integrity here? Baba fall my hand that day. The party that bought you in Their manifesto is different from yours, and you kept mum Baba is not sincere aswear!! He wish things are better truly, but he is been sorrounded by people smatter than him. People who can steal under his watch without him even suspecting...
buhariguy: how can you compare 3yrs with 16yrs, In that 16yrs of without a single project with $1.1tr from oil sales alone, to you it was good, And the government that received $94b in 3yrs with massive infrastructure across the 6 geopolitical zone is a failure according to the jobless aggressive lazy idiotic pigs.
You see how you can't engage in a civil conversation without resorting to abuses! So where did I compare 16yrs to 3yrs in my comments
Massive infrastructures in the six geopolitical zones? Yet to see any of such infrastructures in Lagos and Ogun.
BTW. Guy, talk about the issue of corruption that still pervades even government parastatals. E.g, PHCN, Police, inflated government documents (driver's license, passport, etc ) by govt officials, the bribery scandals (Ganduje, Oshiomole).
Infrastructures is not one of the high point of APC's campaign promises. Fighting corruption is paramount. So talk about that. PDP has nothing to do with Buhari's inability to create nation changing policies. Abi him need money to make policies?
Alepa: Show us what you eat as lunch . Or brunch. Stop saying nonsense. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this . Even food vendors here in the west sell food inside nylon for people . Stop making a mountain out of an ant hill. If these kids were given plates and spoons . Many of these plates will be destroyed. Or . Let’s assume they want to take them back and wash them so the kids can use them again . There’s no way these plates and spoons will be washed clean . Well. You don’t have to agree with me . But there’s nothing wrong with this food inside nylon
I can't believe a civilized human typed this I just got to be diplomatic in my response. If not...
Afamed: But you can't write a history without past and present. Doing much in the midst of scarce resources is another reason why you should give kudos to the present government even though we are not yet there. APC will continue about the past as long as PDP continue to remind them the present. Or how do you defend a government that shared money meant to buy arms and ammunition in other to secure of territory.Or do you talk of lack of inadequate power supply in Nigeria without making reference to how $16b was spent by Obj without any single effect on the power generation?
Thats just d point. APC forgets they are not responsible to PDP, but to the populace that them in power. What I expected from president Buhari is to create government policies that will make it almost impossible to steal public funds! I expected him to make our ministeries and government parastatals corruption free. There are pecks of infrastructures here and there, but this goverment have fallen far below expectation. Note that I am neither rooting for Atiku. My take is that, we just need to change this governmemt. Any govt can build infrastructure. The greatest infrastructures in Nigeria today were built by military rulers. Despite their heavy looting. The same IBB most Nigerians despise built the third mainland bridge. Imagine Lagos without the 3rd mainland bridge..
