Kriss216: They are already turning this Soot to clout chasing.
But the Governor needs to say something at least. It is happening in his State. You cannot just turned blind eyes to the terminal sufferings of the people.
The Federal Government on Thursday said it was putting measures in place to ensure further reduction in the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, popularly called cooking gas.
It disclosed this while reacting to the recent marginal drop in the cost of cooking gas.
According to findings, the price of 12.5kg LPG has dropped from N8,800 to between N8400 and N8200. In some outlets, the price of the commodity dropped to between N7,800 and N8,000 as of Thursday.
In November, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the cost of LPG kept rising in 2021, jumping by more than 240 per cent between January and October 2021.
The development forced some LPG users to shift to charcoal or firewood, as consumers of the commodity raised the alarm over the persistent hike in its price.
The product had increased by 240 per cent for 12.5kg, moving up from N3,000 to N10,200 within the first 10 months of 2021.
“It is in government’s interest for the price to go down consistently and there are certain initiatives that are being taken at the moment, which hopefully will see to further drops in price regardless of the international cost,” the Programme Manager, National LPG Expansion Implementation Plan, Office of the Vice President, Dayo Adeshina, stated.

7. The meeting ended with the Governor thanking all for attending and restating his resolve to ensure that peace returns to Magodo and that there is justice for all.

Members of the Shangisha Landlord’s Association, Lagos State have described as erroneous the impression given in some sections of the media and the public that their battle to get back their land in the Magodo Phase 11 area of Ikosi Isheri Loca Council Development Area of the state from the state government as a case of land grabbing, saying rather they are fighting a legitimate battle and followed the due process of the law up to the highest point.
Speaking to a cross section of journalists at his residence, chairman of the association, Chief Adebayo Adeyiga, said trouble started over the land in 1984 when the Lagos State government and its civil servants invaded their properties in Magodo area of Shangisha and demolished them, taking possession by force.
He said they had to approach the court in May of the same year to try to seek redress, and they have had victory, both at the state High Court, the Court of Appeal to which the state appealed and at the Supreme Court to which the state further appealed, which gave judgement on February 10, 1012 still in their favour. In the judgement, he said, the state government was ordered to give the Shangisha Landlord’s Association 549 plots of land in Magodo Phase 11 to which the government has so far not responded, which they as an association has now started to enforce. Chief Adeyiga who was flanked by other members of the association, also spoke about threat to his life and that of other members of the association, leading to his near death experience and his going blind in the process noted that “the matter further escalated when the Lagos State government sent its taskforce after the executive members of Shangisha Landlord Association, mainly myself as the chairman and others,
“Those taskforce whom I can call thugs invaded my residence on May 4, 1994 and threw me down from my one story building, this old man sitting beside me, Pa Timothy Ayanbadejo, was with me and another man, now late, Folorunsho Adedoyin, the three of us were dragged to the police station in Ketu, from there to the Taskforce office at Alausa, Ikeja, we were beaten to the point of death, until Col. Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the military governor at the time, heard about the story and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos at the time, Mr. Dan Baba, who ordered the immediate release of the three of us.”
Also speaking on the matter, lawyer to the Shangisha Landlord’s Association, Mr. Deji Fasusi said that after the Supreme Court judgement they applied to the Lagos State government and it registered the judgement of the Supreme Court allocating 549 plots to the judgement creditors, that was done in 2014 and that it is a public document which anybody can apply for.
However, he said in the course of the current development, the Lagos State government has intervened through the Commissioner for Physical Planning and said they wanted a peaceful resolution of the matter and “we told them that we are open to that and since then we have made efforts to reach them for a way forward.”
As the nation celebrated onslaught by the Nigerian military in decimating bandits who continued to make life unbearable to many citizens, especially the recent bombing by Nigerian Airforce jets in Zamfara where two bandit leaders were reportedly killed, the camp of renowned Islamic Sheikh, Dr.Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has called on the military to further convince the public by showing evidence.
A member of the Gumi camp and traditional title holder of ‘Dan Iyan Fika in Yobe State, Alhaji Tukur Mamu, told journalists in an interview, that “the simple question is that we should ask ourselves…for example these reports that they are saying that they’ve bombarded this camp and that camp,is there any evidence on the ground?”
“There is a particular forest we visited in Niger State. The whole of the settlement had been bombarded. This settlement has nothing to do with bandits Infact they showed us two wells full of innocent people, dead, inside, casualties of these bombardments.”
“That’s exactly what these bandits were telling us.They said “whenever we hear the sound of an aircraft, we run to our caves ,and then run.If they will succeed in killing anybody, it is the small children ,the wives or the cows. “
“That’s their own testimony. So you can imagine a country where, for example, bandits would gather in a forest and be celebrating. You don’t even have intelligence to track them and eliminate them. Then for you to say you will succeed in killing them?”
“I hear them yesterday., celebrating the reported death of bandit leader. So , for example if you kill one bandit leader and another one emerges, what benefit did you derive?”
Cyberterror: Ipobs will hide from this thread but if it happened to be a northern governor giving this order, they will start screaming islamization from the roof tops.
The All Progressives Congress has said the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has performed abysmally low in terms of provision of adequate security and infrastructural development in Oyo State.
The opposition party, in a statement on Thursday by its Caretaker Publicity Secretary, AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said Makinde had performed far below expectation despite spending 31 months in the saddle as the governor of the state.
The statement read in part, “The government of Seyi Makinde claimed to have procured fire fighting vehicles from Turkey for a about one year without functioning.
“The Ajumose buses in the state are due for replacement; Governor Seyi Makinde claimed to have procured some, which are only seen when his party, the PDP, has assignments outside Oyo State.
“The past government provided solar-powered street lights, while GSM chose the ‘incorruptible’ way of replacing them with diesel-powered street lights.
“If there is one sector the people of Oyo State are anxiously praying for the fast-tracking of the terminal date of this government, it is security. Governor Makinde chose to celebrate his birthday in Saki, Oke Ogun, what followed was mayhem – maiming and killings.
“Can the people of Oyo State forget the wanton overnight destruction of Igangan town in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State on the dawn of June 6, 2021? Governor Seyi Makinde assured Igangan residents that such an attack would never happen again, but it recurred within 10 days on June 16, 2021, as if daring Makinde’s lack of resourcefulness.”
However, the Oyo Kajola Group, in a statement by its Media Coordinator, Adebayo Ayandele, described the statement by the APC as “farcical, unfounded and untrue.”
The group said the APC in the state had demonstrated by the statement that it could not be cured of its post-2019 election loss syndrome.
Mr. Wale Ojo, who was recently appointed as acting chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, was on Tuesday suspended by another faction of the party supported by Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Ojo was appointed acting chairman after the erstwhile factional chairman, Soji Adagunodo, was elevated to the post of South-West National Vice Chairman of the party.
But rising from an executive council meeting of the party, Adeleke’s faction announced the removal of Ojo and barred him from holding party office for one year.
The resolution of the meeting signed by Ayodeji Areola, the State Publicity Secretary, further read in part, “The report of the Osun PDP Disciplinary Committee recommending the removal of the Barr Wale Ojo ( Vice-Chairman Osun East) and Alh. Remi Arogundade (State Financial Secretary) as members of SWC/SEC and their immediate replacement from their various local governments as well as their debarment from holding any Party executive office for the next one year be and is hereby approved.
“That the SEC also condemn the action of Hon Soji Adagunodo who took the Party to Court without exhausting domestic remedies as provided for by the Party’s Constitution and still surreptitiously pursued the case even after his assumption of office as the South-West Chairman of the Party.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU branch has threatened to reembark on strike due to the government’s failure to honour its previous agreement on the payment of member’s November salary and other arrears.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nse Essien had issued a memo, with reference number AKSU/Reg/S/vol.111/694. through the registrar, Mrs. Ebi Eno-Ibanga. The VC assured staff members that the November 2021 salary would be disbursed to them two days to Christmas, but without the backlog of arrears as expected. He added that it is not a negation of the state government’s agreement with the unions.
The ASSU-AKSU chairperson, Inyang Udosen, and Secretary, Joseph Mark issued a statement where they stated that the VC’s memo was a clear violation of the agreement they had with the state government and the university management, which was witnessed by the Akwa-Ibom state House of Assembly in June 2021. They asserted that they will be left with no option but to immediately revisit the suspended strike as soon as the university management activates the proposed payment plan”
AKSU recalled that the state government had agreed with the Union before the suspension of the strike in June that it would pay 25% of the last tranche the remaining two months, March and April, along with 100% of November and December 2021 salary.

joelbooks: It’s a common situation for travelers. You fasten your seat belt, listen to the pre-flight safety demonstration (we hope), and prepare yourself for takeoff. After a few moments, the pilot comes on the overhead, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are now at our cruising altitude of 36,000 feet.”
It’s time to kick back and wait for that refreshment cart to come around. But how many of us have stopped to wonder why planes go this high up in the first place? According to USA TVideoday, the common cruising altitude for most commercial airplanes is between 33,000 and 42,000 feet, or between about six and nearly eight miles above sea level. Typically, aircraft fly around 35,000 or 36,000 feet in the air.
To put that in perspective, the peak of Mount Everest measures at 29,029 feet. But this is why we have pressurized cabins: so you don’t feel as if you’re literally trying to breathe on top of Mount Everest.
The area is called the lower stratosphere, which is just above the troposphere, lowest part of the atmosphere, according to the UCAR Center for Science Education. Flying in this area has many benefits that make flying one of the leading ways for travelers to get from one place to another.

Fuel Efficiency
The biggest reason for this altitude lies with fuel efficiency. The thin air creates less drag on the aircraft, which means the plane can use less fuel in order to maintain speed. Less wind resistance, more power, less effort, so to speak. Spending less on fuel is also great for airlines, for obvious reasons. Keep in mind though, a plane’s engines also need oxygen in order to work, according to Traveller, since they need this molecule to create combustion, which also creates energy. So, flying too high can also cause problems. Plus, the higher a plane goes, the more fuel it has to burn in order to get there so there are some drawbacks with certain altitudes as well.
Avoiding Traffic and Hazards
Yes, there is “traffic” up in the air. Flying higher means planes can avoid birds (usually), drones, and light aircraft and helicopters, which fly at lower altitudes. According to Your Mileage May Vary, the direction in which your plane is traveling can also affect what altitude it will climb to. Planes flying eastward (including northeast and southeast) will fly at odd altitudes (i.e. 35,000 feet) and all other directions will fly at even altitudes. Routes going in the same direction are also often planned so that planes are 1,000 feet above or below each other to avoid a collision.
Weather
Have you ever wondered why the view outside your plane window can be sunny one moment and rainy the next upon descending into your destination airport? That has everything to do with the altitude. Most planes are flying above the troposphere, where weather events usually happen, according to Traveller.
Turbulence
Of course, turbulence still happens on airplanes, but you may be surprised to know that it happens a great deal less because of the high altitude of many commercial flights. According to The Points Guy, when planes run into air pockets and fierce winds, air traffic controllers can sometimes suggest different altitudes to avoid it. According to USA Today, flying higher can actually minimize turbulence.
Emergencies
A higher altitude can also give pilots one precious commodity when they’re up in the air: time. According to Traveller, should something happen that would warrant an emergency landing, the high altitude gives pilots much longer to fix the situation or find a safe place to land than if they were on a light aircraft cruising at 10,000 feet.
Different Planes, Different Altitudes
Not all planes are made to cruise at the same altitude. According to Thrillist, a plane’s altitude is determined by its current weight and the atmospheric conditions at the time of flight. A flights direction (as mentioned above), the amount of turbulence (based on reports by other pilots in the air), and flight duration are also factors.
Who Makes The Call?
Despite pilots being in control of the plane, they aren’t the ones who decide on its altitude. Air dispatchers, instead, are in charge of planning and deciding a plane’s route, including altitude, as well as tracking where an aircraft is in the air. According to Traveller, there are laws in place that dictate aircraft must not fly “below 1,000 feet over a built-up area, or 500 feet over any person, vehicle or structure.”
New claims for unemployment insurance dropped to 184,000 last week, according to data released Thursday by the Labor Department, falling to the lowest level in more than 52 years.
Last week’s total was the lowest since September 1969 and breaks the previous record for the lowest number of weekly jobless claims since the emergence of the pandemic.
In the week ending Dec. 4, seasonally adjusted initial claims for jobless aid fell by 43,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 227,000
While the plunge in jobless claims appeared to show a strengthening labor market, economists said that the scale of the drop could be skewed by seasonal adjustments based on pre-pandemic hiring patterns.
Nonseasonally adjusted claims totaled 280,665 last week, rising 29.3 percent from the previous week. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said it was expecting a seasonal increase of 106,047 claims last week.
Counteryou: The Football Journalists are just being sincere. They did not vote on sentiment. Show me how many journalist listed Ronaldo as their no1 favorite. Na because say them do analysis journalism to see that Ronaldo no too play anything during the year under review. How many successful dribbles, how many free kick goal, how many penalties , how many tap ins, how many man of the match award, how many goals assisted, how many shot on target, how many match winning goals, how many recoveries, how many kilometers covered. All these and many more is the reason Messi will keep subduing Ronaldo. Best player award can not be based on who score the highest no of goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo finished sixth in the 2021 Ballon d'Or voting and was overlooked by a Portuguese journalist who failed to name the Manchester United man in his top five
Cristiano Ronaldo saw rival Lionel Messi claim a seventh Ballon d'Or this week, taking him two clear of the Manchester United star.
Ronaldo's last Golden Ball came in 2017 and he finished sixth in this year's gala.
Five men ranked above him as Robert Lewandowski, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Karim Benzema all accumulated more votes.
Coaches and journalists from countries around the world are allowed to pick their top five, with the respective votes then totted up.
That has led previously to national bias - but not in this case.
Portuguese journalist Joaquim Rita, who works for media outlet SIC, didn't even list Ronaldo in his top five.
Instead his top pick was Kante after the Frenchman played a key role in helping Chelsea win the Champions League.
