PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: We’re Not Fixated On A Figure — NLC by abdsamad(m): 5:49pm On Jun 04, 2024
Nwaokunkpara:
What if every Nigerian who needs change goes on strike to demand good governance

What if we all says it's over for the people in the national assembly

What if we all stand up to this careless disaster of a government

WHAT IF?🤔🤔🤔🤔
The only way is to have a grassroots movement that does more than what ifs.
A political system that takes on the corrupt system.

I'm not an Obidient but the man did show how it's possible to make gains when you appeal to the masses.

Oya, let's go and form our own political party.

Number one rule of joining: you must sign a legal document accepting the death penalty if you are found doing corruption.

Number 2: you must have a day job

Number 3: you must submit to random audits

Number 4: still working out the rest

Oya, let's start our party

Relative to what those fat pigs are paid, 500k is reasonable minimum wage.

Unfortunately that’s not the fight we’re fighting.

The demand should be first to compulsorily cut down government greedy waste then raise wages to 100k minimum

Sorry but u got it wrong.. Iran is not inherently evil yes but the current radical muslim leadership of iran is, Hamas is inherently evil. These are facts.. And @ the bolded, it is either you choose to be selectively forgetful.. From day 1 of isreal existence, Israel never attacked anyone rather the radical religious politics which exist in iran which ended up creating hamas is on record to have invaded isreal without provocation on many instances.. So if you talk about day 1 it takes us back to who first stated the war. It is still not isreal. And if your claim is about land sorry the world also didn't start when the British mandate existed..prophet Mohamed wrote about the Jewis, bible wrote about the jews, and all history book talks of them living there. So the Arabs so accept the fact isreal belongs to middle East as far as iran is not ready to accept that and people like hezbollah and hamas having agenda to wipe off all jews. There wont be peace and isreal will not fold its hands and let it happen. The let it happen with Hitler and the have sworn never again.. And u see it unfolding b4 ur eyes..
Well, as long as we're playing this reductionist game that we've been playing for however long now, we all know what the outcome will continue to be.

Hamas is inherently evil. Sure.
Evil must be destroyed at all cost so collateral damage be damned.

Even if this is what made Hamas in the first place and will only serve to radicalise a new generation of freedom fighters? Yes, yea absolutely.

But they'll never stop lashing out at their occupiers.

Well, then we'll never stop bombing them.

Wasn't this how Osama bin laden was born, are we okay creating the fuel for more bad guys like that?

Yes, absolutely. Look what we did to him... Eventually. War in Iraq and Afghanistan went great. Well, at least it went great for the defense contractors.

Do you think money is a big part of this at all?

What do you mean money? This is about America defending Isreal, that's all.

But the defense contractors have been and will continue to get fat off of the blood of innocents and it totally works in their favor to have a prototypical bad guy, like Hamas, who we know Netanyahu propped up and funded.

Get out of here with that nonsense talk. Netanyahu would not do that. All the evidence that points to that is totally manufactured. And American bomb makers aren't making money from this at all. They're just doing God's work.

Okay, if you say so. I guess you know best

Bro get rid of hamas and the foolish iran leadership sponsoring this and watch peace in middle east. Isreal and the muslims can live in peace.. They dont hate each other.. It is only iran vacked divisive religion politics that is the problem.. In western world come and see Muslim and jews running things together because of the tolerance level and politics of the country the are living in but back home is different.. Isreal and egypt, Jordan etc have mutual respect for each other why is it always iran
You’re not wrong in that Hamas needs to be gotten rid of but you must also ask the necessary questions. Yes Muslims and Jews aren’t inherently hateful of each other as can be seen in many parts of the world.

Humans have a great capacity for hospitality and an equally great capacity for violence. Some naturally tend towards violence more than others. But even those people are rarely unprovoked in their actions.

As long as we categorize a group as terrorist without properly considering what brought them there, we’ll never get out of this quagmire. Iran is not inherently evil. Hamas is not inherently evil. Going to great lengths for the sake of self preservation is wired into life.
Iran did not start out this way, what has brought them there.
Hamas certainly wasn’t born on day 1 of Isreal’s existence, what has brought them to existence.

The colonialists already had a go at destroying cultures. We like to think of it as not a big deal because, afterall, they brought civilization. Yet, destroy they did. Those who have learned from history know how America would very much love to shape the Muslim world into own image.

If the set of people who have been bombed the most consistently in the past two to three decades are Muslim civilians, is it really so far-fetched that the there are hardline Muslims gaining ground all the time? The chicken came first, not the egg; the regime changes and assasinations came before the existence of the “terrorist groups”.

No, i don’t praise Hamas or Iran. Yet, it’s hard to wholly condemn them and the reasons for their existence. These are the fruits of the seeds we planted decades ago. In having conversations about how to solve the problem, all I’ll say is Those who fail to learn from history are bound to repeat it.

Dont be stupid, before hide behind someone the person has to support u or be the one hiding.. Just like if thieves hide in ur house and army arrives will u not try signaling the army of where the thieves are? You question does make sense because neither Tel aviv University or Jewish settlements will agree to hide those despicable territories.. Only Muslims fanatics would.. Infact i can tell u even ur average Muslim wont allow hamas hide behind them..
Umm, I see that you're trying to make a good point. However, you failed to properly consider the instruments of persuasion that will be at the disposal of the group in question.

Much the same way nobody casually says you should unlock your phone and transfer all your money to their own account. There's significant violence or a threat of violence involved.
Imagine getting to the police station and the officer telling you that you did unlock the phone yourself and you did send the money yourself. They don't see a problem at all.

If it was so easy to get rid of a powerful person doing terrible things in your name, even the Isrealis would have gotten rid of Netanyahu by now. Yet, here we are... They're still trying to get rid of someone who the majority agree to be corrupt and bad for their country

At the bolded. Nobody really like the way the country is going but the truth is Nigeria is "currently" a shithole and if you are still living in the shithole you have to be wise. No matter how I wish for her to defend her oppressors the reality is she can never. Look at how the case is going do you really think this is what she bargained for. Who is going to fight for her now? Do you really think peoples sentiments is going to sway the judge? No matter how you look at it or the support you expected from people the country ineptitude will rub badly on her that's why she should have tow the line of peace.

As for Germany you mentioned, she should have waited to Japa to Germany before dragging a corporate organisation. Her case has appeared in foreign media, civil society have staged protests, Nigerians have even Wade in and contribute money yet she is still been dragged. Tell me what else anyone can do to fight her case.
When my day comes I hope I have the courage to stand for what's right. She could have towed the line, she chose to stand against all odds. It's a shame that we are widening the gap for her.

Why are the oppressed defending their oppressors? This... This is why I don't see much hope for us. Maybe we can't do much but we have power in numbers. Labor party demonstrated that much, as much as I don't have any allegiance to them.

If everybody says it is sweet, let them come and arrest everybody.
Yes, it is too sweet and yes sweet things are killing us. Let's all go to court and fight that out. Let it be the people vs Erisco. But because we're divided, they can single someone out and scapegoat them.

I understand you tbh. After a while one gets desensitised to the terrible abuse carried out day to day.

Bros! Before you approach court in a case involving influential people be sure you come with equity and no where you violated the law. Even if she has a case of human rights abuse, the fact she was found wanting on cyber stalking and other liable offences should have made her tow the peaceful resolution. Her case on fundamental rights abuse won't stop the same court in convicting her for her offences. There's a reason the popular say that the law is an ass. Where your rights stop is where someone else started, she doesn't need the drag, she has ran out of money hence her lawyer pleading for crowd funding, she has lost a baby in the process, her peace of mind has eluded her, her husband and family will be watching there movement because police is even against them. Is this all worth the "strong head" of not apologizing. Had it been he is influential and have someone close to BAT you might have a case. Infact bring you ear make I whisper you "Nigeria judiciary is for big men with big influence cos matter go tey and lawyers go chop" so if you don't have the wherewithal and influence to fight till the end you better answer coward while pointing to the grave of a strong man. I am sad to say this but the court will make mince of her and even if she got pardoned she will have few months in jail. I really don't think that's what she bargained for when she made the post on Facebook.
Nigeria is bad, Nigeria is bad. Nigeria is not bad, we’re the ones that are bad.
Stop defending oppressors.
Ask Germany how their story started and ended.
If we have nothing good to contribute, the least any of us can do is not to stand with the oppressors in blaming the oppressed. That’s about the lowest bar.
All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. Here’s someone doing something and we still stand in her way. Issokay. We’ll wait till they come for us all, then we’ll have sense.

Freedom of speech is entirely different from what she did, there are records ok. She agreed to apologize but later decline and dare Erisco to go to Court.

Court will not pass judgement base on sentiment and emotion; she had the opportunity to free herself but she was headstrong and this is the reason why we all are still here, thank you.
And the part where they showed up and carted her off to Abuja nko?
Not relevant. You can’t talk about how she was accused of breaking the law and not talk about her accuser who actually broke the law.

It’s okay to file a lawsuit if you feel wronged! It’s not lawful to first arrest them for insult she’s yet to be convicted for.

Stop defending the people who are taking away your rights. If they came for her over this nonsense and you’re backing the tyrant, you’re writing a check for them to do that with impunity anytime they see fit.

If you say "nairaland is a useless cesspit of vipers and demons"
......that's a soft allegation which you could be true.

But if you then add... "those vipers and demons post messages that makes people commit sweetcide"
.......It becomes a strong allegation which Nairaland can sue you for to defend.

Chioma made her point, but the part she added "it's killing people" was where she got it wrong.

You can make reviews which can be good or bad, but don't make false/defamatory reviews. There's a fine-line difference between a bad review and a defamatory review.

Chioma's review turned from bad review (...it's too sugary) to defamatory review (...it's killing people).
Uhuhn. Good attempt. I understand what you're trying to say, however:

Saying vipers and demons is a figure of speech meant to convey a different meaning within a certain context. You didn't actually start looking for vipers or demons.
It's killing people obviously has to be interpreted within proper context. Was she talking about people dying or was it a figure of speech meant to convey a different meaning.

Who was she talking to, and what led to what? Proving defamation is so incredibly difficult even when the intent is clear, much less here when you have to dig into the comment section to find one line that's paraded without proper context.

Again, who here doesn't do hyperbole when the conversation gets heated. Should you go to jail everytime that happens.

If you're an incredible jerk who thinks this is worth ruining someone's life over, it's very well within your right to try, but you'll be pushing that boulder up a very steep hill. In s normal trial, the lady will win and even have him pay for harassing her. How do you arrest someone on a civil accusation? No conviction and you have the civil liberty violated.

Summary: any which way you twist this, the man is a toxic stew of hatred and abuse. The lady should maybe be a bit mindful of comments but no more than the rest of us.
