I dunno anywhere where someone spends gazillions to get into power and there's an expectation of things being normal. How? If the pastor of your church pays 50m to be elected to the post, do you think thaf church will be normal? |
muyico:Minimum wage for the country cannot be calculated based on what lagos or Abuja pays. You need an average that reflects the majority of the states not the richest states. States can choose to pay more than that. Minimum wage is meant to serve as the barw minimum, a baseline. |
Minimum wage being calculated based on the needs of a family of six. Nigeria my country! Mad people vs mad people. |
Healthcare has collapsed in this country. I hear people talking about how the doctors should leave if they want, they'll hire more people. Who will train those people, I don't know. Why will they stay where they have nothing to learn or provide, I don't know. Other hospitals are essentially like that, people have just not stayed there long enough to form a group. When doctors go on strike, we'll be there to talk about how wicked they are. Issokay. Let's continue |
WriteerNg:Biden is taking his rightful place in that lineup too. There are evil people in this world. The worst of them are not thugs with guns and beards but devils with suits and pens. |
Validated:I understand the sentiment. But, surely, you don't think the 600k is reasonable. Do we deserve that much, yes. Do we have to make a lot of changes to get there, yes. Can we just do it overnight without crashing the economy? No. No, sir |
DeepSight:We should. We as in Nigeria the proud nation. We wouldn't. We as in Nigeria the captive state represented by our extremely capable and representatives who definitely have knowledge of history and geopolitics and definitely aren't subeducated leeches (no offence to leeches) with nothing but greed on their minds |
DeepSight:We are in the "gone are the days" era. Our leaders are clueless toothless clawless and spineless. Yes we should vote to make Palestine a state and vote to condemn Isreal when the vote comes up. Or we can just abstain. Beyond that, best to mind our business. Look at me talking as if the idiots in power care about any of this |
DeepSight:Abeg let us be silent. We cannot afford to piss anybody off like dis. We should just be drinking our garri until matters settle |
Labour and government playing stupid stupider stupidest. Minimum wage is supposed to cater for a family of 6. Yes naw. Minimum wage is supposed to provide 40k per month for rent. Yes naw. Minimum wage is supposed to provide 9k food per day. Yes naw. And stupid government wants to pay 48k. Yes, absolutely. That makes sense. |
Me i don't know what we expect when the most brilliant people in class go on to become doctors and professors and the idiots become politicians. Shey they'll use brain that they never had in the first place. We rely on brilliant people in tech, medicine, education and such but we're like... It's okay not to demand any high level of intelligence / integrity to get the job that pretty much decides everyone's fate. Let's just let whomever is corrupt enough to raise campaign funds do it. What could go wrong |
muykem:You're right and wrong The problem is that we're paying 500m to a committee. Why? What's their salary for exactly. Why is this committee extra work. If we cut stupid spending like that, not even the corruption of gazillions o. Just the plain wasteful spending on senators and such, we can pay at least 70k, or even 100k. But when we are only going after the poor, telling them to bear with hardship, but do nothing to go after the powerful... Well, priority priority! |
Smilingjoe4:I think you missed the point there. What he said is that 50k is okay only as long as they're willing to receive 200k too. They think we should manage because things are hard. Fine. They should also manage since things are hard. Let's try not to tear into each other so easily and apologise when we get it wrong |
BigDawsNet:Funny, cos I'm not sure what we are enjoying o. Oh, you're talking about rich people. Okay, i understand now |
OmoManU:They've used all the money to buy private jets na. Why else. The person flying on a plane at the cost of those driving on terrible roads. Such is the evil nature of men Let's wait, maybe lagos state will enforce it shaa, then others can follow |
tuoyoojo:We honestly don't understand the value of waking up in one's own bed. Just pray to god everyday to allow you to wake up in your own bed. |
ABANGWABOI:Sorry about losing your friend to a senseless war. Sorry your solution is more senseless killings. Sorry you don’t see how that’ll lead to even more senseless deaths close to home. Hopefully not close enough to your family or my family. |
ABANGWABOI:The soldier who lost his friend to Boko Haram thinks innocent people should be killed indiscriminately. It's not even ironic, it's just sad. |
Maybe they should put it on 187 or 189 at the most |
Ebios:I think it's realistic only when we've started successfully getting money out of the grubby hands of the thieves, not before. We run the risk of doing ourselves a Zimbabwe. As a negotiation tactic, 615k is good cos you're then supposed to go back and forth before coming to a final number. But if this is a hard line for them, we will soon start printing 1m naira notes like the true failed economy we kukuma already are |
“A questionnaire was designed and sent to all the State Councils of NLC and TUC from where these questionnaires were sent to our members in all the local government areas in the country to gather the monthly cost of living for the average family as described above." BUT minimum wage is meant to cater for the poorest families not the average families. Maybe I'm the one that's not seeing things well sha. That breakdown shaa doesn't look realistic to me, considering the way things actually are, not through a utopic lens |
amstamon:I don’t have that. Someone has on the thread. I think Blackarab |
amstamon:I don’t have that. Someone has on the thread. |

alosbaba007:I'm sorry, it won't. The strap mechanisms are different |
Truvelisback:So headline should be: stupid 12 year old drowns in hotel swimming pool in a case that totally has nothing to do with the hotel management. I would like to run that headline and see how the newspaper drags itself into the line of fire |
tuzle:As opposed to what? Many do it as a stepping stone to something better. It's horrible, yes, but isn't begging or stealing the alternative. Unions are supposed to fight to prevent these things but they've all GBABODE |

When governor and Labour leader and taking buddy buddy pics in this catastrophic times for workers... All is not well, you say? Yes, my dear friend, all is not well! |

ravensckar:Woo, I've cut all the cutting that can be cut. It's better now but still. Took me some time to catch up to this and taking advice really helped but Nigeria yi ehn! Having a partner with sense is one of the best gifts a person can have. Imagine someone asking me for Netflix subscription in this clime. I couldn't shout. This despite the fact that i have an app that provides free streaming access to basically all major platforms. Na to invest in a small business be the way. Salary has already maxed out |
I'm shaa grateful that i don't have debt. That's it. And I'm still lucky that i stay in a place where the rent is 500k in this lagos. If the rent goes up someone will just sigh again. |
MrPADDY:Umm, not lol. This isn't a lol |
