Some groups of Fulani herders who are vacating Ebonyi state has revealed the reason why they are leaving the state, Igbere TV reports.

The herders while speaking in a brief chat with newsmen on Wednesday said they are constantly being attacked by the residents of the community where they were resided.

They alleged that 21 of their members were killed and their residences burnt adding that the police and the government are not willing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

One of the relocating headers said; “Not long ago, they came back and killed two of our cows. Following that, we have been receiving threats that they will come and burn our houses, after they did that to our brothers in another community.

“As a result of that, we are living in fear. Whenever we go out, our families are jittery of attack. That (is) the reason we are relocating. We are many, I can’t give (an) exact number of those relocating.

“In Ebonyi State in 2020, 21 herders were killed and we cannot account for the number of cows that have been killed and no attack goes unreported to the police and most of the deaths that occurred, its the police that use to retrieve the corpse.

“For the cows killed, the police will come and confirm the incident and videotape the scene.”

Igbere TV had earlier reported that Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi on Monday ordered the arrest of circulators of a video on social media that Fulani herdsmen were being attacked and chased out of the state.

The governor said at a news conference in Abakaliki that the video was faked.

He ordered security agencies to investigate the source of the video and arrest the circulators.

The governor said the video had caused panic and tension.

Secretary, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Ebonyi Chapter Inusa Sani condemned the video, adding that “it is fake news.’’

“The video is an orchestrated attempt by mischief makers and enemies of peace,” Sani said.

Schools in Osun state have been directed to reopen on Monday, January 18 for the continuation of first term 2020/2021 academic session, Igbere TV reports.

The Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Education, Kehinde Olaniyan gave the directive in a statement made available to newsmen.

Teachers were directed to resume on Monday, January 11, to prepare for the reopening of schools.

The statement read; “This is to inform the general public particularly parents, guardians, school heads and proprietors of public and private schools that in line with the Federal Government advice on school resumption, which is embraced by most states of the federation, the Hon. Commissioner for Education has directed public and private schools (primary and secondary) in Osun State to resume schooling for the continuation of 1st term of 2020/2021 academic session on Monday 18th January 2021.

“Teachers are to resume on Monday, January 11, 2021 in preparation for pupils/students resumption on January 18, 2021.”

Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has described popular Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze MFR as a very humble man and a true friend who cannot be bought over, Igbere TV reports.

The Speaker stated this while on a visit to the actor in his country home, Eluama Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area.

Chief Whip of the Senate,  Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has denounced reports making wave that state governors and Senators attended his father's 10th year anniversary with private jets and Helicopters, Igbere TV reports.

Online reports had it that not less than 29 Private jets and  five helicopters conveyed political bigwigs to honour the former Governor's late father, Chief Johnson Uzor Nesiegbe Kalu, who passed on to eternal glory in 2010.

Reacting to the Publication,  Kalu had in a statement issued by Barrister Emeka Nwala of office of the Chief Whip denounced the report.

He said investigations made about the reports showed that the fliers of the 29 private jets and 5 helicopters were private businessmen and not Nigerian public office holders .  

According to him, "the reports we got from both Sam Mbakwe Airport  Owerri and Akanu Ibiam International Airport,  Enugu shows that Oil moguls,  captains of industries within Nigeria and across Africa were the ones that flew the airplanes to the occasion.

"The Governors that came for the event were mostly South Eastern Governors.  Aside Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government,  other 12 governors that couldn't make it themselves sent their commissioners and they couldn't have flown private jets to the event," he said.

Kalu expressed disappointment over the inability of some journalists to have accurate information before making Publications. He urged the reporters to desist from unverified stories as it could lead to misleading the general public.

Recall that Kalu's father's  10th anniversary which  held on Sunday, December 27th was celebrated at Camp Neya, Igbere, country-home of the Senate Chief Whip.

The five helicopters landed in Igbere Secondary school and drew the attention of several villagers.

The height of the event was when traditional rulers of Igbere conferred the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan with a Chieftaincy title, Nwannedinamba of Igbere.

The Deeper Life Bible Church has said it would address the public on the alleged abuse of an 11-year-old student Don Davis in its school in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Igbere TV reports.

A tweet by the church on Tuesday reads that the education secretary of the school would share updates on the matter later in the day.

A parent Deborah Okezie whose son is a junior secondary school one student had in a Facebook video alleged that her son was starved, as well as molested by some senior pupils of the school.

The boy was reportedly moved to senior dormitory on the instruction of the principal for urinating on his bed.

The principal has since been suspended.

Mrs Okezie alleged in another video posted on social media that she was attacked at the office of the Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Education Enobong Mbobo who had invited her and her son for questioning.

The suspect told newsmen he spent the money he got in hotels on his girlfriends in Sabon Gari area of Kano.

Haruna, however, said the suspect is being investigated for alleged “impersonation, character defamation and fraud,” after which he will be charged to court.
