Igbere TV reports that a discplinary action has been commenced against policeman, Obioma O. Obi who was seen in a viral video assaulting #EndSARS protesters.

This was confirmed by Imo police commissioner, Isaac O. Akinmoyede in a statement released by the state's police spokesperson, Ikeokwu Godson Orlando.

Akinmoyede who condemned the unprofessional conduct by a police officer attempting to assault some protesting citizens against alleged human rights violations by personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), said the conduct displayed by the officer is not a true reflection of the ethics, standards, values and training of the Nigeria Police Force.

The police commissioner noted that it is within the rights of the citizens to express their concerns through protest and other legitimate means.

The statement, as obtained by IGBERE TV read; “The Commissioner of Police, Imo state, CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede, psc, fdc, MNIM, has condemned the unprofessional conduct by a police officer, captured in a trending video, attempting to assault some protesting citizens against alleged human rights violations by personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Imo State, today, 8th October, 2020.

“The CP notes that the conduct displayed by the officer is not a true reflection of the ethics, standards, values and training of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The CP, while noting that disciplinary action has already commenced against the erring officer, however observes that much as it is within the rights of the citizens to express their concerns through protest and other legitimate means, they should do so in a peaceful manner, devoid of violence and disruption of public peace and order.

“The CP calls on the people of Imo State to exercise restraint and be patient with the ongoing reforms on SARS and other Tactical Squads of the Force.

“He reassures that the Command will fully comply with the directives of the IGP towards preventing any violation of the rights of the citizen and improving on the working relationship between the Command and residents of the State.”

Reacting on Tuesday, Onochie described Wizkid as a “dumbkid”, who exhibited crass ignorance and childishness in the way he addressed the president.

With zero allocation, COVID-19 and the economic crisis, if we were to rely on federal allocation even salaries will not be paid.

“The cars are not free gifts, they were purchased through the JAAC Accounts and going by NFIU regulations, they were procured by the chairmen themselves and the funds came through their individual local government accounts.

“The governor kept funds for them even before they came in and that’s why we have been able to purchase the cars.

Controversial Onitsha-based preacher Prophet Odumeje on Sunday celebrated his wife as she clocked a year older, Igbere TV reports.

The cleric born Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere in an Instagram post wrote: “Happy (birthday) to my beautiful wife.”

He also called on his followers to celebrate her in another Instagram post.

Odumeje welcomed a baby in August.

He now has five children after two boys and two girls.

Odumeje who is known for his theatrics and showmanship is the leader of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry.

The Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu has called on members of the public and all parties particularly interest groups and four employees of the Signatious Hotel, Warri, Delta State who were allegedly stripped by the management to remain calm, Igbere TV reports.

The hotel’s chairman Kenneth Gbagi, a former minister of state for education, was alleged to have ordered that the workers – three women and a man – be stripped naked over theft allegations.

In a statement posted on Twitter on Friday, the IGP said he would ensure justice, calling for patience as the police investigate the case.

The statement read: “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has called on members of the public, particularly the alleged victims and all interest groups in the ongoing Police investigations into the case of dehumanizing treatment on the Signatious Hotel Staff in Warri, Delta State, to remain calm as the Police intensify efforts towards unravelling the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The IGP, while noting that the Delta State Police Command has since commenced discrete investigations into the matter with appreciable progress made, assures that justice will prevail no matter whose ox is gored.”

Igbere TV reports that several human rights organisations have protested against the alleged treatment of the hotel workers, accusing the police of conniving with the hotel management to carry out the act.

Mr Gbagi, however, denied giving the order.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike says the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu in a telephone conversation on the eve of Edo governorship election ordered him to leave the state immediately, Igbere TV reports .

Wike was chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship campaign in Edo. PDP had alleged that more than 100 policemen laid a siege at the hotel where Wike and other PDP governors stayed on the eve of Edo polls.

PDP candidate Governor Godwin Obaseki won the election for a second term.

In an appearance on Channels Television’s breakfast show Sunrise Daily on Friday, Wike said he perceived the IGP was upset with him because he challenged the illegal deduction of the Rivers State financial allocation for the police fund.

“The IG never saw me outside. I was inside my room and I got a call from the IG that I must leave Edo State. What surprised me was why should I leave Edo State? I am the chairman of the campaign council and the chairman does not mean that after the campaign, you leave. No, you must monitor what is going on so that at the end of the day, you would be able to write your report,” he said.

“I discovered that the IG’s own had nothing to do with the election because I remembered that some time ago my commissioner returned to me from a FAAC meeting and said there were deductions made to the Police Trust Fund.

“I asked who approved it because the police are under the exclusive list and not the concurrent list. I told my attorney-general to challenge it. This angered the IG.”

Igbere TV reports that Wike further stated that the police boss was angry with him for obstructing the arrest of a former acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission Joi Nunieh.

Pop star Wizkid has featured his three sons – Bolu, Ayo and Zion – in his new video for single ‘Smile’ featuring H.E.R, Igbere TV reports.

The video was released at noon on Thursday.

Wizkid had his first son Boluwatife with a woman named Shola. Bolu clocked nine this year. The singer’s second son Ayo whom he had with Binta clocked four this year. His third son Zion will clock three in November.

Wizkid’s relationship with Zion’s mother Jada Pollock started on professional terms before the birth of the boy.

Meanwhile, Igbere TV reports that Wizkid, in a post on Instastories on Thursday appreciated singer Banky W and Tunde Demuren for transforming his life.

Banky and Tunde raised him to stardom after signing him to their record label Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009.

Wizkid born Ayo Balogun has since floated his own record label Starboy Entertainment.

Igbere TV reports that it would have been a sad story for a 23-year-old man simply identified as Ejiofor if he did not escape mob action for allegedly stealing a plasma television in Wumba village, Abuja.

A house owner identified as Mrs Comfort Daniel revealed that the 23-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the chief’s palace in Wumba.

Comfort said Ejiofor invaded her house while she went out to buy something by the roadside.

She said she left her 11-year -old son at home when the suspect entered the house and went straight to the parlour to remove the plasma television from the wall.

“My son asked him what he was looking for, and he replied that I directed him to come and remove the television for repairs. And luckily enough, I was entering the house when I saw him with the television, and I quickly raised an alarm,” she said.

According to her, it was in the process that some youths immediately arrested him and took him to the chief’s palace in the area.

Our reporter, who was at the chief’s palace, observed as the suspect sat on the ground with bloodstains all over his body.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday revealed he worked as a plumber about 30 years ago, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Sanwo-Olu revealed this while speaking with 6,252 graduands of the 18 skill acquisition centres in the state.

According to the governor, youths and women should engage in vocational skills and become employers of labour instead of searching endlessly for jobs.

He assured them of his support, advising that they continue to improve their skills and grow their businesses.

Igbere TV reports that the students were trained in 15 different skills including hairdressing and cosmetology, catering and hotel management, computer training, barbing, textile design, hat making and bead stringing, shoe making/leather works, fashion design and dress making.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Cecilia Dada said the graduands would receive the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board certificates which could grant them transition into any of the state technical colleges for further training.

Comedienne and actress Helen Paul is reportedly undergoing a postdoctoral study in an undisclosed university in the United States.

According to Igbere TV report, the TV host is aiming at becoming a professor soonest.

In March 2019, Helen bagged her Ph.D in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

She immediately took to Instagram to announce she had become the first Nigerian stand-up comedian to bag a doctorate degree.

A source close to her who said she also works as a lecturer in a US university also confirmed this.

The source said: “While studying to become a professor, she is also working as a lecturer in one of the institutions in the US.”

The source further described her as an inspiration to the young generation.

Big Brother Naija reality TV star Ozoemena “Ozo” Chukwu says he could not control his feelings for his fellow housemate Nengi Hampson because he was drawn to her strength and beauty, Igbere TV reports.

Ozo revealed this in an interview session with Big Brother Naija show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu published on social media on Tuesday.

The sports enthusiast was evicted alongside Trikytee on Sunday night.

He said, “On my birthday when I had to say things about everyone, I told her I feel like she’s a strong person and she was like that was all you could say. One thing she doesn’t get is that attribute alone got me really attracted to her.

“Excluding the whole thing, I feel like she is a really pretty and attractive lady and I have always been the whole light skinned girl kind of guy. My friends will be like, guy why are you doing this? You’re going to give birth to albino kids and I’ll be like that’s not how it happens, don’t worry.”

Ozo admitted Nengi told him she had a lover outside the Big Brother house.

The 27-year-old, however, said he went for her regardless because he felt it was only right to let people know if you like them.

“If you are going to vilify me for going overboard in an excessive way for someone that I like or someone that I love, that means I was not a bad person,” he said.

Ozo departed from the Big Brother house as a winner of several challenges including an Innosson car, a N1million cash prize, a VVIP trip to Dubai for the Pepsi One Africa Music Fest, and a year’s supply of Pepsi after winning the Pepsi Lyrics challenge alongside Trikytee.
