Bottom line: If you are abroad and thinking of coming back, don't bother.

The number of female babies killed, abandoned, or placed in orphanages increased as a result of the policy.
Incentives were offered to families complying with the policy, including financial perks and greater employment options.
Millions of Chinese parents had to endure strict enforcement methods of the policy, including forced sterilization and forced abortions.
In families that already had one child, the births of additional children—in violation of the one-child policy—were often undocumented, leading to many problems later on for those children as they struggled to receive an education or find work.
Even after the one-child policy was rescinded, China’s birth and fertility rates remained low, leaving the country with a population that was aging too rapidly as well as a shrinking workforce.
The positive effects of the one-child policy is- It increased the number of available job opportunities in China.
It is the known fact that countries that don't control their population growth in the world are among the poorest countries in the world.

A person that left home very early for work and came home late won't even bother much about sex. i agree 100%also high birthrates are associated with poor education and poverty. an earning person /couple knows that they have to utilize their resources to provide the best for their children, resources are scarce hence fewer children.

You have to understand governments by nature are inefficient and as such can't run a business profitably except for diffenc purposes. Since that is strategic in nature profit is not whatsapp sort after now back to job creation, the only viable means for a large population such as ours to get employed is thru the private sector. All over the world SMEs are the the main employers of labour. What we can do is hold our government accountable to provide infrastructure and adicuate laws to help SMEs to thrive.
