Hello, Please can anyone help with this question? I have applied to update my BRP name to my married name but I haven't gotten a response yet and I am planning a trip to Nigeria. The last name on my passport is my married name and the name on my BRP is my maiden name. Can I travel from UK to Nigeria and back with my marriage certificate and my passport and BRP which have different last names? Many thanks for your help. |

Hello, just incase your question hasn't been answered, I'll share my experience I used Qatar airline to UK, Departed Saturday 28th, Arrived Sunday 29th. I took my covid test at Reddington Lekki on Friday at about 5pm and received it on Saturday at about 5am before my 8:25pm flight. At the airport, you'll need to complete a Qatar consent form (you can buy this at the airport for 100Naira). All necessary documents were properly vetted - PCR test result, Day 2 and Day 8 test, Visa, Locator form. At Doha, I don't remember being asked for these documents because they had already been vetted in Lagos. At Heathrow, I was literally only asked for my passport (absolutely nothing else) and it was stamped, however, they do spot checks so this means they ask people randomly. Please note - I'm not a student so experience at Heathrow may vary slightly. napoleonsmart: |
Any of them really, it depends on how much you are willing to spend, BA and Virgin can be expensive, however, they are short flights between 6-7hrs to London Heathrow (if London Heathrow is your destination) For connecting flight check the following: Is the layover destination on the UK red list? If it is, then NO Do you need a transit visa? If you do, then NO Hunreal9: |
Hello, Just an update on flight ticket. I went to the Qatar Airways office at Ahmadu Bello Way, VI (Standard Chartered Building). I can confirm that in case Qatar goes back on the red list, tickets are refundable. However, If you book with a third party agency e.g TravelStart, you would lose about 30-40k, this happened to me when I booked Ethiopian airlines to the UK, literally a day after I bought the ticket, Ethiopia was put on the red list and it was war to get my refund and about 30k was deducted, my colleague that booked directly with Ethiopian airline got 100% refund. Also, it's cheaper to book on Qatar's website (hold the booking) than their office and pay the Naira equivalent at their office or at the bank, (there's a third option but can't remember). Apparently, the system used at their office is different from what's online, I saved about 40k when I compared it. Also, it's not always cheaper to book on weekdays (as some people mentioned earlier), I can confirm it was cheaper for me to book online for a Saturday than during the week, however, booking solely at the office, the Saturday ticket was more expensive than a weekday (because of the weekend factor - that's what the Qatar lady said). Additionally, additional baggage costs about 86k while 9kg top-up for two pieces of baggage to make 32kg each cost 42k in total. Hope you found this helpful. I'm not a student or applying for a student visa but I still find this forum helpful. Goodluck! |
I would advise anyone booking Qatar or any flight with a layover to book directly with the airline. If the transit country goes back on the UK's red list you would still be able to get a full refund unlike when you book with third-party agencies. |

Hello. Please I need clarification on spouse visa via a civil partnership. I'm in a civil partnership, hoping to apply for a spouse visa. However, I'll be getting married next year, wondering if I should go-ahead to apply for the visa as a civil partner or wait to get married. Some follow up questions if I apply as a civil partner: Would I need to change the visa when I get married? Would I need to inform immigration that I've moved from civil partnership to marriage? Will the 2.5years from the civil partnership spouse visa count towards the 5-year route? Is the civil partnership spouse visa literally the same as the marriage spouse visa? |
mimilyrics:Great!!! Thanks so much! This is a really helpful forum |
mimilyrics:Thanks for your response @mimilyrics, do you have a reference for this? |
