My flight was on Sunday but I left my town on Friday, so I can relax in Lagos on Saturday etc. I remember my mum asking me why am leaving on Friday instead of Saturday and I replied that only one flight per day leaves my town to Lagos and this being rainy season, anything can happen, flights can be cancelled at the last minute. This exact scenario played out on Tuesday: A close friend of mine and her family are going to Turkey for vacation. Their flight to Turkey was for Wednesday 8pm and they were to leave town on Tuesday by 5pm (only flight remember) to Lagos. According to her, while at the airport by 4pm, it started raining heavily till about 7pm. At 8pm, they announced that their flight has been cancelled to the following day by 5pm! She said there was this guy that was suppose to travel out of Nigeria the following morning, the guy had to make calls and got a chartered car from one of the transport companies to travel to Lagos that night! That's like 10-12 hrs on a good day o. God forbid! So my friend and her family went back home and left to a neighbouring State very early in the morning to make the 12.30 pm flight to Lagos. Thank God she is almost in Istanbul as I write this |

When packing, DH categorically told me: "don't bring those your Nigerian clothes here o. Any cloth you need, we will buy here. Instead, use that space to pack food". But did I listen, No! In my mind I was like "won't I go to church? Is it English I'll wear abi my Ankara? . I just jejely pack my Kaya.. Then I went food shopping: grounded egusi, ogbonno, dry pepper, Cameroon pepper, assorted stock cubes, freshly dried fish (advantage of living in a riverine town!), crayfish, stockfish, pepper soup spice, suya spice, Tiger nut , Archi, dried bitterleaf, atama, basil, afang, hotleaf, garri, Ogi, frozen palm oil in a cooler bag 5 Medium Eva bottles. *Whew* EDIT Took some packs of malaria drugs, paracetamol and antibiotics. DH has been complaining of fever for the past 2 weeks, and all oyibo prescribed for him was Ibuprofen I had baggage allowance of 46kg ie 2*23kg. Hand luggage of 7kg.. |

I decided to fly with Emirates because I wanted "The Emirates Experience" .. got one way ticket for N222,000, Birmingham with a 2h30m layover at Dubai. Initially, I wanted to go for a 10hr layover but DH said I shouldn't bother, we'll be doing 1week stopover in Dubai on our way home, by the grace of God.. I can't wait.. |

gogedda: Good evening house, I recently got my Permanent residency to Canada and I will be travelling in few days time. I have been investing in Tbills for sometime now. I intend to convert some of my money to dollar and put in my dormicillary account so I can withdraw with my dollar card when I get there while I leave the rest in my Nigerian account.
Please how can I invest from abroad while I am away, I currently invest in Tbills with Stanbic. I visited the bank the other day and they spoke about an indemnity stuffs, that will allow me give them an instruction to invest in my behalf. Pls is there a disadvantage to signing this document? I really would like to invest the money in Tbills instead of just leaving it in the account cos the fund is quite alot. Thanks Am new to Tbills. But I would advise you check First bank because the form I filled had questions like, do you want your Tbills to be rolled over upon maturity or something like that. Do you want to invest your interest with the principal etc.. Just do your diligent research sha |

Littlemix: How did you go about it in the bank.. Plz explain to me I ask at the customer care and was directed to the person in charge of TB. Just walked up to her and ask for today's rate and available tenor.. she wrote down it down for me.. Then gave me a form to fill. One of the questions on the form, was asked if I intend to invest with the accrued interest, another was if I'll want the cash to be rolled over at expiration. She asked me to pick up the certificate tomorrow if I want one. I've not been debited though |
