Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley’s case of credit card fraud was adjourned by a Federal High Court which sat in Lagos on Wednesdat December 11.


The case was adjourned till Thursday December 12, as the defence counsel Mr Olalejan Ojo (SAN) was not available.


Recall that Naira Marley was arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 11-count charge bordering on credit card fraud.


The singer who was granted a bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum, was accused of committing the offence on different dates; between Nov. 26, 2018 and Dec.11, 2018, as well as May 10, 2019.

84-YEAR OLD MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN ENUGU.

An 84-year-old man has been confirmed dead after committing suicide by hanging in Enugu. The deceased identified as Mathias Uzo was found dangling on a tree.


The Enugu State Police who confirmed the suicide incident which occurred at Ezere in Awgu local government Area of Enugu state, also announced the arrest of one Emeka Ogbonna of Umueze in Nkanu West local government Area over the death of another native, Emeka Edeh Ngwu.


Enugu Police spokesperson Ebere Amaraizu said “the deceased, Emmanuel Edeh Ngwu had gone to separate a fight between the suspect and his wife on 25/11/19 before the suspected gave him a chase with a stick, resulting in his falling into a well inside their neighbour’s compound.


“He was later rescued from the well and taken to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku/Ozalla for medical attention and was later confirmed dead.


“The state commissioner of police, Ahmad Avdurrahman has directed for a full scale investigation into the incident.”

On Monday night, Didier Drogba fulfilled a 10-year debt to Kylian Mbappe by taking a selfie with the French football star at the 2019 Ballon d’Or awards.


The Chelsea legend revealed that he denied a then 10-year-old Mbappe a picture after a Champions League semi-final with Barcelona in 2009, because he wasn’t happy by the poor officiating of referee Tom Henning Ovrebo after Barcelona knocked out Chelsea.

The construction of the 600-kilometre Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline to move gas from the Southern part of the country to the North is to begin soon.


President Muhammadu Buhari stated this on Friday while addressing the 5th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit at the Sipopo International Conference Hall, Malabo, Equatorial Guinea,
He said that the viability of extending the gas pipeline to North Africa was also under consideration.


According to a statement issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), while describing the theme of the Summit, “Natural Gas – Energy for Sustainable Development,” as most appropriate, President Buhari noted that the one-day meeting was “taking place at a critical juncture as global energy supply is transitioning from hydrocarbons to renewables.”


According to him, “The Paris Accord of 2015 signalled the first major global commitment to a deliberate effort on this inevitable transition,” stressing that “Nigeria is proud to be one of the first signatories” to the historic Agreement.

Three siblings from a family have all perished after a dilapidated building they were residing in with their parents, collapsed in Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State over the weekend.




According to reports, the children Mmesoma, 11; Onyinyechi, 5, and John, 3, were sleeping in the dilapidated building with their mother and another sibling when the unfortunate incident happened.




The mother of the deceased children was said to have urged her husband to relocate them from the building as she feared for their lives but the husband couldn’t afford to

The deceased children were removed from the building by neighbours and have been buried, while their mother and her only surviving son are still receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital as at the time of this report.

Reacting to it, CSP Dolapo Badmus wrote:


So having a big body part is now better than having Educational or vocational qualifications?(like seriously?) I still cant get over this! I’m saying it again, we need to restore sanity to our system and stop tolerating public nuisance!

Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele has said the closure of Nigeria’s land borders by the Federal Government is yielding positive economic results for the country.



He said before the borders are reopened, “there must be concrete engagements with countries that are involved in using their ports and countries as landing ports for bringing in goods that are smuggling into Nigeria.”



Emefiele was reacting to complaints against the border closure from sections of the Nigerian economy and neighbouring countries. He spoke on Monday, October 28th after a meeting with President Buhari at State House in Abuja.



Nigeria closed its land borders in August, only three months after signing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. The government said the measure is to curb influx of smuggled goods from neighbouring countries such as Benin, Niger and Cameroon. The goods mostly involved are used cars, used clothes and rice.



Emefiele said there has been an “astronomical growth” in the number of rice farmers and local production of the commodity has increased “exponentially” in recent years.



“Between 2015 and now, we have also seen an astronomical rise in the number of companies, corporate and individuals that are setting up mills, integrated mills and even small mills in the various areas.
“And the Central Bank and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have been at the centre of not just only encouraging the production of rice in Nigeria but also funding these farmers by giving them loans to buy seedlings, fertilisers or some of the herbicides that they need for their rice production,” he said.



The governor, who said the border closure followed complaints by rice processors and poultry farmers, said the government had tried to close the bank accounts of those smuggling or dumping rice on the country.



“Recently, and this is the absolute truth, about two weeks before the border closure, the chairman of the Rice Processors Association, incidentally, he owns Umza Rice in Kano, he called me and said that all the rice millers and processors were carrying in their warehouses nothing less than 25,000 metric tons of milled rice in their warehouses.



“That this rice had been unsold because of the smuggling and dumping of rice through Republic of Benin and other border posts that we have in the country and that he would want us to do something about it.

Ann Grace Aguti, a mother of three, from the Ngora district in Uganda, said she was married like other women. Her desire in her marriage was to have a “tender, loving husband, who can provide all my needs as a housewife.”
When her husband wasn’t meeting that need, she said she decided to do things her way.
“My husband was useless and I remained the breadwinner. When I left him, I started looking for that special someone, but I have not yet found him because even now, I have to feed the men that I have. So, my search continues.”

Fresh reports and data have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo apparently earns more from Instagram than he does from playing soccer for Juventus.



The 34-year-old pockets an annual $47.8 million from paid Instagram posts, according to a study by social media firm Hopper HQ on Buzz Bingo. In contrast, his salary at Juventus is reportedly $34 million, according to Goal.com.


Ronaldo's reported income from Instagram makes him the platform's highest earner, ahead of Lionel Messi and Kylie Jenner.

Former Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson allegedly fixed a football match with a corrupt agent who gave him a £30,000 gold Rolex, a court heard today.
Football agent, Giuseppe ‘Pino’ Pagliara, 64, made the claims to an undercover reporter posing as a businesswoman looking to invest in football players, jurors were told.
Pagliara is on trial for bribery at Southwark Crown Court alongside assistant head coach of Barnsley Football Club Tommy Wright and fellow football agent Dax Price. All three deny the charges.
The trio were charged following allegations of corruption published by the Daily Telegraph in 2016, one of which led to Sam Allardyce resigning as England manager.
He said the legendary manager fixed a champions league game against Italian giants Juventus and alleged Ferguson pocketed money from transfer deals, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Pagliara and fellow agent Dax Price allegedly tried to “impress” Claire Newell by arranging meetings with prominent footballing figures such as Steve McLaren, Harry Redknapp, and manager Neil Warnock, prosecuter Brian O’Neill QC told Southwark Crown Court.
O’Neil said Pagliara claimed that “99 percent of the people in football if they weren’t in football, would be selling second-hand cars.”

The Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed September 11th to hear a motion filed by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, popularly called Shi’ites, asking the court to vacate the ex parte order it gave on July 26th proscribing its activities in the country.


Justice Nkeonye Maha of Court adjourned the case after hearing the two counsels. The Solicitor General of the Federation, Mr Ayo Apata, SAN, had applied for more time. Counsel to the IMN, Mr Femi Falana, SAN, did not oppose the request either. The court had, upon an ex-parte motion by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation also declared the group a terrorist organisation.


The IMN, in a notice of motion filed, on August 2, by its lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, particularly sought the court to vacate the “ex-parte order made on July 26, in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/876/2019 between: AGF vs. IMN proscribing the existence and activities of the group in Nigeria under whatever form, either in groups or as individuals by whatever names they are called or referred to.”
The group also asked the court to set aside the order “restraining any person or group of persons from participating in any manner whatsoever in any form of activities involving or concerning the prosecution of the collective intention or otherwise of the IMN, under any other name or platform howsoever called or described in any part of Nigeria.”


The IMN stated that the reasons for its requests include that “the ex-parte order made on July 26, was made without jurisdiction, as the order was made against a non-juristic body.
“This honourable court on July 26, pursuant to an ex parte application brought by the IMN made an order, inter alia, proscribing the existence and activities of the group in any part of Nigeria under whatever form, either in groups or as individuals by whatever names they are called or referred to without affording the Respondent/Applicant the right of fair hearing.


“The said order of the honourable court breached the fundamental right of all members of the IMN in Nigeria to fair hearing guaranteed by Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Article 7 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004 in that no fair hearing was granted the applicant/respondent before the order was made.


“The order ex parte granted by this honourable court has violated the fundamental right of members of the Respondent to freedom of thought, conscience and religion guaranteed by Section 38 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.


“The order ex parte granted by this honourable court has breached the fundamental right of the members of the respondent to freedom of assembly and association guaranteed by Section of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended. The honourable court did not grant the declaration ‘that the activities of the IMN in any part of Nigeria amounts(sic) to acts of terrorism and illegality,”’ the group said.


According to IMN, there was no urgency warranting the granting of the order ex parte. “No motion-on-notice was filed together with the motion ex-parte. The ex-parte order made by the honourable court has determined the fundamental right of the respondent/applicant without affording it fair hearing.

No undertaking was made as to damages. The order ex-parte was anchored on misrepresentation of material facts and based on suppression of material facts.


“The order ex parte constitutes a gross abuse of the process of this honourable court,” the group stated. The Federal Government had, July 29, published the order in its official gazette as directed by the court. It was described in the gazette as ”Government Notice No. 79,” titled: ”Terrorism (Prevention) Proscription Order Notice, 2019.”

Kebbi state police command have arrested Auta Dogo Singe, a housewife in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi State, for allegedly killing her new husband, Shaho Abdullahi, so she can go back to her former husband, Idris Garba.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state commissioner of police, Garba Muhammed Danjuma, said the suspect conspired with one Garba Hassan and Sahabi Garba at Sabon Gari village, Illo district area of Bagudo to kill Shaho so she can remarry Garba.


Muhammed said the housewife and the two men she conspired with have been arrested and will be charged to court soon.


“They will soon appear in court,” the CP said

A Nigerian lady, Nneka, has exposed a married man who has been pestering her for sex and a relationship and also spending lavishly on her and her friends.


Nneka says the married man whose name she gave as Stanley, has been pestering her for a relationship for a long time. He hid his marital status from her but her intuition kept telling her that Stanley was married.


She recently found out he was married. She called him out by posting a video of him professing love to her.

David Luiz had a tough time of it on his second appearance for Arsenal.


After a good debut against Burnley, Luiz was at fault for two of the goals as Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners at Anfield on Saturday.


The Brazilian defender gave away the penalty that Mohamed Salah scored from to hand Liverpool a 2-0 lead, before getting turned easily by the Egyptian, allowing Salah to stride through on goal and make it 3-0.


It was a bit of a disaster from the transfer deadline day signing from Chelsea.

Luiz sent a message to the Arsenal fans after the game, saying:

“Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes. But I know one thing, I will never give up.


“Was always like that my life…I came here with a goal, and I will fight until the end for that. Thank you to the fans, for all the support. I will never hide, winning or losing.”



Luiz admitted after the game that he would have fouled Salah in the build-up to the third goal, had he not been booked for conceding the penalty, which he felt was harsh because there was no power in his shirt pull on Salah.


But the 32-year-old received plenty of support from teammates and former colleagues on Instagram following the result.
