Here in Onitsha, nobody knows or cares about the government paid noise makers on nairaland, every Monday is a ghost town till further notice. If Nigerians can protest like Biafrans, the evil leadership in the country would collapse, that's why the government wants to end the protests before other parts of the country would adopt a similar strategy. The same way that IPOB have inspired secessionist movements in other parts of Nigeria.

Agriculture / Re: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by abouzaid: 3:54pm On Sep 13, 2021
Please help, i have secured a large plot of land that might be as big as 20 plots when measured but my problem is how to irrigate it, it doesn't belong to me so drilling of a well or borehole might not be allowed by the owner so the next option would be to buy water from neighbors with borehole and transfer it by pipe to a plastic water tank or tanks on site, i would like to start with one crop and one plot at a time and gradually turn the entire plot to a full time vegetable garden, so how best should i approach the irrigation problem? What size of tank should i buy giving my current and future plans? Any other advice would be appreciated?

Will the owner of the borehole allow you finish his water reserve wey dey aquifer? Irrigating 20 plots of land from a domestic borehole, won't the water dry off? Climate change is really oo. Even a commercial borehole sef might not do oo. And cucumber consumes more water than tomatoes and pepper.

Just think it through so you dont be stranded midway.
i intend to start from one plot and then expand over a period of atleast a year, i just have to get it right.

Which Twitter? The banned one or another? The number of anti sit at home protest threads on Nairaland is way too much, is it the cause of the food price inflation, insecurity by Fulani terrorists and the free fall of the Naira against the dollar? On Biafra we stand.

pls what is the best way to make ridge for driptape on a downward slope land. is the best option along the slope or across the slope
i don't know about driptape but secondary agriculture taught us to make ridges across the slope as it would reduce the speed of running water and therefore it's erosive power during rainfall, it also helps the soil to retain more water, it's known as cross ridging.

Stop this wickedness, so you don't have sympathy for all the innocent school children that kidnappers have killed?
Why are you people so wicked? Nigeria army that is risking there lives to save this people are stupid?
We should be praying for the millitary at this point, if they take over the north, southern Nigeria will go down, we are not much in the millitary, once north is captured, then forget it.

Instead of you to start praying for them so that they will kill all these terrorist, you are busy saying things I don't understand.

Do you know that some northerners are Christians? What will happen to them?
Please lets pray at this time, this is not the best time to start segregation, this terrorist wants to take over Nigeria.

Please let's remember Nigeria in prayers, this is a trying time for us all.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Story for the gods, tell that to the families that have lost their loved ones to Lekki toll gate massacre, Sunday Igboho residence invasion and the numerous killed in the name of IPOB. You can't force or cajole patriotism out of the people, support the disintegration of Nigeria.

Politics / Bandits Capture Nigerian Military Base In Zamfara; Kill 12 Officers, Seize Weapo by abouzaid: 8:25pm On Sep 12, 2021
overrun a Nigerian military base in Zamfara, Peoples Gazette has learnt, marking a major setback in the campaign to curb violent crimes across the state.

The bandits struck a forward operating base in Mutumji, Dansadau, about 80 kilometres south of the capital Gusau, at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, The Gazette learnt from military sources.

Officials immediately confirmed 12 fatalities, comprising nine Nigerian Air Force officers, two police officers and one Nigerian Army soldier. It was not immediately clear the level of fire that the soldiers returned to prevent the base from being sacked.

All slain personnel were evacuated to Yerima Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau and the three wounded have been receiving treatments at a brigade medical facility, officials said.

The attackers also seized weapons from the killed service members and set ablaze other equipment in the facility.

The number of security forces manning the base was not immediately clear. The base has served as a crucial point operation for logistics and reconnaissance efforts to rout out bandits operating between the eastern flank of Zamfara and western Katsina.

Last month, the criminals shut down a Nigerian Air Force jet, forcing the pilot to eject before the fighter went up in flames as it hit the forest.

Over the weekend, presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said the bandits were pleading for mercy after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a large-scale military effort across the troubled North-West.

Telecom signals have already been shut down across Zamfara, with regulators saying the demand came from the military who wanted to barricade the bandits in a forest before eliminating them.

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force did not return separate requests seeking comments about the development from The Gazette on Sunday night.

Politics / Nigerian Crudes Struggle For Buyers As India Cuts Purchases by abouzaid: 4:55pm On Sep 10, 2021
Nigerian crude variants are now seeking other buyers in Asia and Europe as India’s COVID-19 situation remains shrouded in uncertainty amid stringent regional lockdowns and weak domestic consumption.

S&P Global Platts reported that most Nigerian crudes were trading at close to 12-month lows. The country’s flagship grade, Bonny Light was last assessed at Dated Brent minus $0.8 per barrel, up from a recent low of minus $0.95 per barrel, but still close to the weakest it has been since May 2020.

Akpo condensate, normally a preferred grade for Indian refiners, was last assessed at Dated Brent -$2.10 per barrel, its lowest level since September 2020.

The Indian Oil Corporation last bought crude loading mid-to-late June in a tender that closed April 15, S&P Global Platts reported.

The refiner had since cut run rates across its refineries to an average of 88 per cent, company officials reportedly said on May 12.

The run rate across its nine refineries was 99 to 98 per cent in the first half of April.

“Three weeks without IOC weighs dramatically on Nigeria. It is the biggest Nigerian grades buyer,” a trader said to S&P Global Platts.

“IOC skipped the last decade of June loading window and now seem to have skipped July 1-10 also,” a second trader was quoted as saying.

India’s state-owned refiners typically issue tenders for a large proportion of their crude requirements, but with the latest wave of COVID-19 infections in the country still raging, no new tender had been issued since late April, S&P Global Platts disclosed.

Refiners such as Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd usually buy significant amounts of Middle Eastern and West African crudes through regular tenders.

The last such buy tender was awarded by HPCL on April 23 for crude loading from West Africa in early June, according to S&P Global Platts data.

Some of IOC’s recent purchases have included Nigeria’s Agbami, Akpo, Bonny Light and Forcados, as well as Gabon’s Oguendjo.

Meanwhile, the international crude oil benchmark, Brent, traded at $73.17 after gaining $0.48 as of 10:09pm Nigerian time on Monday.

The United States West Texas Intermediate traded at $71.21 after gaining $0.30.

Politics / We See Cattle Grazing In Oyo – Sheikh Gumi Visits Sunday Igboho's Home Town by abouzaid: 1:33pm On Sep 08, 2021
The Kaduna State-based controversial Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, has visited Igboho town in Oyo State, the home town of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, more commonly known as Sunday Igboho.

About 20 days after his Ibadan home was raided by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeyemo was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, as he was about travelling to Germany along with his wife.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi
Igboho who called for Yoruba Nation is being accused of a separatist tendency, and he had been under the searchlight of security operatives.

Gumi was seen in Igboho town alongside with a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof Usman Yusuf.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, Gumi and Yusuf were seen standing in the front of a Muslim Grammar school sign-board in Modeke-Igboho.

Gumi noted that he has seen nothing to warrant people to agitate that they should be separated from Nigeria.

"Today we have visited this town Igboho, it is a muslim community and we can see some cattle grazing in their court yards.

"This is a place I think Nigerians need to understand that we need to live together. Because I have seen nothing here to warrant people to agitate that they should be separated from our beloved country, Nigeria," the cleric added.

Yusuf added that it was the elites that were dividing Nigeria and not the common people, noting that the common people are the same.

"This is Igboho made famous by a detainee in Benin Republic. Nigeria is one and we will always remain one. The towns we have being to which includes Ilesha, you see churches, you see mosque, you see Fulanis, you see Yorubas all coming together.

"This is Nigeria we grew up in, not poisoned Nigeria. It is the elites that are dividing Nigeria not the common people; the common people are the same. We are here as Nigerians and we will continue to be one."
