tredkiller: I'M GLAD THAT OUR GOVT DECIDED NOT TO WASTE OUR MONEY ON BROADCAST RIGHTS JUST TO WATCH A TEAM LIKE GHANA DANCING AROUND THE FIELD AS IF LOOKING FOR KENKE MOULD TO EAT. NEXT TIME EAT MORE OF YOUR KENKE BEFORE MATCHES BECAUSE YOU LOOK SO FRAGILE AND MALNOURISHED
[size=16pt]HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR TEAM LATELY? WHY, GARI DON FINISH FOR NAIJA? GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN THE NIGERIAN TEAM WAS IMPOSING -- BIG TALL DUDES. THOSE WERE THE DAYS WHEN 1 NAIRA = 1 DOLLAR AND THE EATING WAS GOOD.

NOW, 10000 NAIRA = 1 DOLLAR, AND COMMON EBA NO BE CHEAP. THE BIGGEST GUY ON YOUR TEAM NOW IS GOALKEEPER, AND Y'ALL RUN AROUND THE PITCH LIKE A BUNCH OF CHICKENS BEING CHASED FOR PEPPER SOUP.

Conquistador: Here in Accra,no one is even talking about a 3rd place match.for us we either win gold or nothing!what are we 2 do with bronze?I recall a few years ago when nigeria constantly won bronze at AFCON and started calling it GOLDEN BRONZE!!!!!LOL. Chei!
Tell them oo.

I'm sure we'll play that match with third string bench warmers just to give them some practice.

[size=16pt]CRISPY DINNER CHICKENS ARE IRRELEVANT. LESS THAN 48 HRS FROM NOW, THEIR TIME IN THE SPOTLIGHT WILL BE OVER. BLACK STARS WILL STILL REMAIN #1 OR #2 WHILE NIGERIA INCHES UP TO #87.

YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT REFUSED TO PAY FOR BROADCAST RIGHTS, YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE THEY KNEW YOUR TEAM DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE IN THE TOURNAMENT. THAT'S HOW MUCH YOUR TEAM SUCKS!

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE AT FIFA THINKS NIGERIA IS A POWERHOUSE IN FOOTBALL. RATHER IT'S THE BLACK STARS OR ELEPHANTS OF CIV. YOUR COUNTRY'S POSITION IN FOOTBALL IS HOLLOW, EMPTY AND A MIRAGE! ENJOY YOUR 10 MINUTES OF FAME WHILE IT LASTS DOUCHEBAGS!!

pazienza: Kuffour, park one side. Mali is going to use you lots for shooting practice. Even the ghana woman at TV3 admitted that ghana didn't deserve to be in the semis, you lots practically robbed cape verde (a better team),in broad day light.

Ghana has no team, and played crappy football throughout the tournament. Hope you enjoyed your recent push into relevance in african football elite nations,'cause it has just come to an end, from now onwards,it's down down for the 'kuffour nation'. *grins*

Whatever name you choose, please try not to make it like "Jane Mary" or "Susan Michael" or "Linda Moses" or any of those stupid first English name + first English name scheme that Nigerians think makes them white.

Akpu.Nku:
Ok CAF and REF wanted Ghana to be in the final by all means and that is why they awarded undeserved pk to Ghana and denied Burkina a clear PK and a clean goal or did u not watch the game ?
Were you at the CAF meeting when all these devious plans were being hatched?

Any way, those incidences happened much later in the game after BF got their equalizer as a result of an overlooked foul against Ghana. Prior to the equalizer, Gyan was fouled in the BF box but silly ref ignored it. That would have made it 2-0.

You are biased towards Ghana for obvious reasons which I accept. But if you look at things constructively, you'd notice the game had become an officiating mess after the first 20-30 minutes or so.

If CAF wanted Ghana to win, there were better opportunities to enable that outcome. Gyan's manhood was smashed inside BF's box but no one was sent off and no PK was awarded. There were also a couple of fouls which merited a penalty but they weren't given. That would have made the score line 3-0 OR 3-1 FOR ghana much earlier on and changed the psychology and trajectory of the match.

Akpu.Nku:
With what happen against Ghana vs Burkina, i think Burkina is destine to win this cup, but i hope Super Eagles win them
Please tell us what happened. For all we know, the ref was horrible and made calls that benefited both sides. There's no telling which trajectory the game how would have taken had he gotten the first few calls right.
SportsRe: TB Joshua: Eagles Will Win On Sunday by Abrantie: 8:15pm On Feb 08, 2013
Intrepid!:
Any half-inebriated football fan coulda made this same 'prophesy'. A prophesy is 'Nigeria will win by 3 goals to nothing. Emmanuel Emenike will score in the 20th, 35th and 87th minutes.' That is a prophesy not this statement that is neither here nor there.
True. He didn't even foresee Nigeria getting to this stage now he wants to add more gullible fools to his congregation.

wasiudvd: Atthough I want him to play, but rules should be rules. Seems CAF bend the rules here.
Burkina faso benefited from ref's mistakes too, in this same tournament.
[size=16pt]Thank you so much for pointing that out. They also benefited in the Ghana match which gave them an equalizer, and dodged about 2 penalties and a red card (earlier in the game).

Go back and watch the foul seconds before their equalizer.

The ref was simply horrible, and messed up the dynamics of the game right from the beginning.

If Ghana were to beat Nigeria in the final, am as good as leaving town, avoid, twitter, facebook or whatsapp beacuse Ghanaians are as bad as the English when it comes to bragging and boasting
We are simply a very patriotic and PROUD African country. You call it bragging and boasting, we call it "representing mother Ghana".
SportsRe: Why Did Most Nigerians Support Burkina Faso Against Ghana? by Abrantie: 8:54pm On Feb 07, 2013
Because Nigeria fears small but mighty Ghana. Nigerians find it hard to believe such a small country, just 3 doors away, can be so influential.

My babe once said to me, "Abrantie, size doesn't matter you know". I was offended at first. but she quickly purred in my ears, "I'll love you even more if you were small but used it well. Next time take it easy on me". grin

There must be a lesson in there for Nigeria as well.
SportsRe: Burkina Faso To Appeal Red Card ,Tunisian Ref Suspended by Abrantie: 7:14pm On Feb 07, 2013
seyi42k: Don't mind CAF. They probably masterminded it. Think about it for once, which is a bigger final Ghana vs Nigeria or Burkina Faso vs Nigeria. Remember that Referee in Ghana-Nigeria 2000 or the ones that cheated us especially against Cameroon. What happened to them afterwards? Nothing.

CAF probably wanted Ghana in the Final to create a bigger spectacle and also cheat Nigeria by giving the cup to Ghana. Think about it for a moment, we are the largest market in Africa, yet we refused to pay a 'paltry' $4.5m. They will not be happy as we are going to collect prize money without having contributed any. If Ghana had qualified for the final, they would have won it, not because they will play better, but because CAF will want to 'deal' with us for not coughing up money.

Let me say that Nigeria is in for a rude shock in the Finals. Don't be surprised if CAF engineers the match for Burkina Faso, then later suspends the referee by which time the deed will have been done. They almost succeeded in eliminating Burkina Faso, Nigeria should therefore be very careful.
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH... OH SHUT UP! YOU NIGERIANS AND YOUR CONSPIRACY THEORIES, ALWAYS THINKING EVERYBODY IS OUT TO GET YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE THE "GIANT OF AFRICA"?

IF CAF REALLY WANTED GHANA TO WIN IN THE MATCH WITH BOKO NA FASO, THERE WERE QUITE A FEW GENUINE FOULS AGAINST GHANA INSIDE THE BOKO BOX THE REF COULD HAVE CALLED EARLIER IN THE GAME. EVEN THE EQUALIZER CAME SECONDS AFTER HE OVERLOOKED A BLATANT FOUL COMMITTED AGAINST GHANA.

THE REF WAS SIMPLY INCOMPETENT!

OH, I HEARD THE FVCCKING AL-QUAEDA REF HAS BEEN FIRED!! YAY!!

THAT'S A GOOD START. HAD HE MADE THE FIRST FEW RIGHT CALLS, THE GAME WOULD HAVE PROCEEDED IN A MORE CIVILIZED WAY AND THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN TOLERATED REGARDLESS OF WHO WON. YES, HE MADE SOME CALLS WHICH FAVORED GHANA, BUT MISSED A LOT OF GENUINE ONES WHICH CAME LATER AFTER THE FIRST BAD CALL, WHICH COULD HAVE CHANGED THE DYNAMICS OF THE GAME.

BOKO NA FASO WERE JUST FOULING LEFT AND RIGHT BECAUSE THEY BECAME FRUSTRATED AFTER THE FIRST BAD CALL.

Parolee: Not to say I am justifying the Mbombela pitch...but a lot of exaggeration has been done about this pitch issue...things like the ball is bumping all over the field, the playing surface is uneven this that and the other....
The Ghana coach himself mentioned on kickoff magazine that some of the pitches in Ghana and everywhere in Africa are more worse than Mbombela's and his players play on them week in week out....no excuses there, so they must just perform.
The reason why the pitch is in that state was clearly explained...a lot of rain fell in the Nelspruit area just before the tournament kicked-off and that resulted in a breakout of algae on the grass - and this grass is foreign by the way, was impossed on us by FIFA and it is not resistant enough to our conditions...
Can I also say that I attended most of the games in Mbombela as I stay here - the pitch was not at all in a perfect condition BUT was still PLAYABLE...and many things went right.

Soccer city (National Stadium) will definitely provide all the teams with a perfect playing surface, just like Rustenburg, Durbs and PE have done...

Taking the Mbombela games to other venues would have been a logistical problem of huge proportions - the Mbombela games were some of the best attended in terms of spectator numbers I am not sure if your televisions showed you that. Just last night there were about 30000 people in the BF/Ghana game...and some of us we bought our tickets in bulk long before the games would take place....tell me who would have done the refunding and organised for another venue at such short notice? and other logistical issues e.g. security, transport etc

PEOPLLE THE PITCH WAS PLAYABLE!!!! and you can't beat the atmosphere that was always at Mbombela Stadium...it was a real African carnival from the Ethiopians who came in their large numbers to the Burkinabe supporters and team....and of course all the other nationalities, thank you all for a real African carnival you created in our city!!! I've got it all in my video camera....

By the way GOOD LUCK TO BURKINA FASO...the people of Mbombela-Nelspruit city have adopted you as our team! we love you...
[size=16pt]
WTF IS ALL THAT RUBBISH YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT? THIS IS A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT, NOT WHAT WE CALL "GUTTER TO GUTTER" FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT. CAN'T THE CONTESTANTS EXPECT AT LEAST A FIRST CLASS PITCH?

YES IT IS PLAYABLE, BUT IS IT ENOUGH TO JUST BE "PLAYABLE"?
