I won't advise even my enemy to go for a four year course in anything IT. Cos The industry is very dynamic. It changes every year and is too fast to be contained in a rigid four-year structure. u can achieve a lot more with some certifications like MCSE and CCNA. Since u already hav a first degree, u can easily switch into the IT industry!

Religion / Re: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by abstarr(m): 3:46pm On Apr 04, 2007
davidylan:

That not every muslim is violent does not nullify the fact that islam is a religion that thrives on violence and deciet! That not all armed robbers are violent does not mean armed robbery is a decent vocation!

For the record, Islam's main objective is not to kill and maime people. All we wanna do is worship God. And oh, yes, all armed robbers are violent! That is not a valid comparison cos robbers leave the house wit the sole purpose of causin harm.

davidylan:

We are tired of "moderate" muslims merely coming out to "condemn" these islamic inspired acts of violence. Please ask the sultan to get those children arrested and prosecuted rather than maintaining criminal silence only to start making retrogressive statements on the ajami inscriptions.

For the record, I'm not a "moderate Muslim". I actually consider the term derogatory. What ur insinuating is that the muslims that dont commit acts of violence are "moderate" and those who do are the "real muslims". Its the same thing like a british man condemning his govt for goin to war in Iraq. Does that mean he has the sole responsibility of carrying his grieviances to No.10 Downing street to Mr Blair? Mind you, even with the near total condemnation of the war by the british people, they still were not able to stop the actions of their govt. Now does that mean british people as a whole support the war? Or wait, oops sorry i 4got, those wud be termed "moderate british people". the "real" ones are the ones that made the war possible!!

I'm not going to reply on this thread anymore because ur language is so strong, its clear that ur mind is made and i cant hav any sort of intelligent conversation with you. Have a gud day @david,
Religion / Re: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by abstarr(m): 3:04pm On Apr 04, 2007
@the one
So sorry about your friend. Please accept my condolences. May her soul rest in peace.

Fellow Nairalanders, its amazing that there is so much religous hatred in here. I thought we were the "new generation"? You should realise that all these acts of violence are perpetrated by illiterate people, irrespective of religion!! Even with the frequency of these acts, you'll com to realise that its jus a very very small portion of the total muslim population. Why crucify the faith?

Yes I am a muslim. Yes i strongly condemn these acts of violence. There should be religious tolerance, tribal tolerance, and so many other things in place before Nigeria can move forward. All the people claiming to be carrying out these acts of violence in the name of God are lying. They are soley responsible for their actions and should be held accountable.

It's sad that our leaders arent doing much to help matters, but then, they are not doin much to help anything at all anyway.

It's just very sad. But the comments i've read so far are most hurtful. I'm not surprised with those livin in the states cos they are used to racial profiling and cant see anything wrong wit it because theyre not affected.

In conclusion: Learn to condemn the actual people doing these things and dont blame the religion. I'm sure every nairalander has at least one muslim friend. Hav u ever seen him/her stab anyone or commit any act of violence in the name of religion? Pls people be objective in ur accusations. Dont generalise bad conducts

Not all men are dogs
Not all Nigerians are 419ers
Not all Europeans are racists
and certainly
Not every muslim is violent (which nullifies the notion that Islam is a violent religion).

Its more a case of illiteracy
Politics / Re: Presidential Debate On AIT: Very Funny by abstarr(m): 2:29pm On Apr 04, 2007
Only in Naija. Everyone thinks he can rule! That's how one of the numerous posters had the slogan "all hands on DESK"!!!!!! IMAGINE! For starters i think we hav too many parties. 95% of them are rubbish and dont hav credible people to run for elections. I wonder why they bother.
Romance / Re: I Caught My Wife Drinking In Restaurant With Another Man by abstarr(m): 5:04pm On Apr 03, 2007
It all boils down to effective communication. Sit her down and talk to her man. Lay down the rules. Its not about wot girls are allowed to do or vice versa, its about wot u are comfortable with. If ur not comfy wit seeing ur wife in that situation, u need to let her kno.

Gud luk man undecided

Romance / Re: My Ideal Husband Practices A Different Religion by abstarr(m): 3:56pm On Mar 28, 2007
junegirl:

Hi Abstarr! Tell me, because Justice Oputa was a distinguished jurist, should he have forced Charly Boy to become a lawyer?

Hi Junegirl, my father's an architect but i'm an engineer. That shows that my mindset is not like that. Ur makin an example from career path, I'm talkin about defining the principles of life to ur kids. If mom and dad are not even followin the same principles, then they becom confused on whose to follow.

junegirl:

Beyond the requisite responsiblity of the parent to teach the child to walk, I think the choice of the style of walking should be left to the child.

I wish it were that easy, If that was all parents had to do. The scenario ur painting is fairytale my dear. Our society today is so unscrupulous that parents cant afford to jus fold their arms after "teachin the child how to walk". What if the "style of walking" they choose brings shame to ur family name? Its a full time job. Else they wud be called "hosts" not parents. grin

junegirl:

I understand your family's stance because I'm also a muslim and I know how much muslim parents want their children to marry within the religion.

Hi Junegirl, while i agree (somewhat) wit ur post, it's not only the parents' wish and hers that shud be considered here. If she's a true muslim (which i hope she is), she will be concerned with the upbringing of her children. I personally hav seen alot of "cross-religion" marriages and their "products" grin(the children) are always sitting on the fence!! i.e niether here nor there, and not strong in any religion. Nobody that's strong in their faith wud wanna see their kids grow up otherwise. They (the kids) shud also be a significant factor in the decision making.

U CAN NEVA SATISFY NIGERIANS!!!! How can u expect vogts to climb mountains in his first match!!! Dont y'all kno that its betta for him to have a bad first game, thereby realising where some of the weaknesses lie, rather than hav a few good "first" matches, then fumble wen the competition starts proper!!! Look at England's Mclaren for instance, his first few games were good, so he thot all was well with his team. Now he's havin to go back to the drawing board at a crutial time in the Euro qualifiers!! Now is not the time for xperimenting with his side. Jus thank GOD that we got the three points, that's ALL THAT MATTERS!!! I'll take a bad game with three points over a very good game without winning anyday (ask arsenal)!!!!

Bottom line, allow berti to have 3 or 4 bad matches (without results oh) before trying to crucify him!! angry angry angry

Technology Market / Re: I Need Advice On Buying A Generator by abstarr(m): 9:00am On Mar 26, 2007
T2:

abstarr, did you really read the initial post? Poster has TWO 1.5HP and a freezer, so if we use your calculation of 7.5Kva for one 1.5HP AC thats 15Kva for two, Yes?

That case sexyme's initial estimate of 18Kva was not off as you need to now add freezer etc to whats left 3Kva.

Yeah my bad, I actually didnt notice that there were two 1.5hp A/Cs, but with the massive factor of safety that i added in recommending the 7.5kva it would still accomodate the xtra A/C. As u can see from afam's calculation that, in earnest, these appliances dont actually require that much power. It's jus wise to project for future xpansion.

I'm sure sexyme understands that my joke was in good faith, no pun intended. wink
Technology Market / Re: I Need Advice On Buying A Generator by abstarr(m): 6:22pm On Mar 23, 2007
nigeriana:

How about a gen for 1hp AC and a fridge. will I also require a 7.5KVA?

Yeah, a 1hp will require about 5amps to power so the 7.5kva will suffice!! wink
Technology Market / Re: I Need Advice On Buying A Generator by abstarr(m): 4:27pm On Mar 23, 2007
sexyme:

But for a 1.5hp and a deepfreezer, I'd suggest you go for an 18KVA Diesel Generating set.

Shows that u really dunno much bout generators. Using a massive 18kva to power just one 1.5hp a/c and a deep freezer DAMN

Listen, for a 1.5hp a/c, that'll require about 6 - 7.5 amps to power. Basically, all u need is a 7.5kva petrol engine.

Lemme giv u the stats: an 18kva can power three 2hp A/Cs with three 1.5hp A/Cs!!!! (but after that jus forget about puttin on litebulbs grin grin)

@sexyme
marapco eh?? hmmm, gud job wit de analysis!!! wink grin
