http://m.premiumtimesng.com/news/164579-u-s-ambassador-visits-emir-of-kano.html The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, on Tuesday visited the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in his palace in Kano Mr. Entwistle congratulated the Emir on behalf of himself and the American people. He said he believed the new Emir is capable of uniting the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole. The Kano Emir thanked Mr. Entwistle and the U.S. government for the visit. He said he would do his best to unite the people of Kano and Nigerians. The two men then went into a closed-door meeting. Mr. Sanusi, the immediate past Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, was announced as the Emir of Kano by the state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on June 8. Few months to the end of his tenure as Central Bank chief, Mr. Sanusi was suspended as governor of the bank by Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, in February. The Bank chief had before then raised allegations that billions of dollars were not being remitted to government account by the state oil company, NNPC. While investigations into the allegations were ongoing, the president fired the former CBN boss, accusing him of “financial recklessness”. Mr. Sanusi challenged his removal in court. He however withdrew the case after emerging Emir. The Nigerian government is yet to congratulate the Emir on his appointment.

Qua Iboe end-August cargoes offered at dated plus $1.90, a trader said, versus up to dated plus $2.20 earlier this week. The grade was assessed at dated plus $1.30-$1.40, steady from Thursday and the lowest since July 2012, Reuters data showed. Several of August’s 13 cargoes have been placed into tenders, although there have been few spot trades so far. Gboliwe: What exactly is the job description of an Executive Director in a state government?U won't know the relevance, but the killer party know the relevance when they celebrate his resignation, the oba do the right thing. *The sixth son of the Benin Monarch, Prince Osama Erediauwa, Thursday, resigned his appointment as the Executive director of Edo State Government and immediately defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shortly after tendering his resignation. According to Erediauwa, he dumped APC because he want to embrace change. “Thank you for welcoming me to the party. I just tendered my resignation. I decided to embrace change to work and take over the state.” “We will see action as time progresses.” The state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih who described the political move of the prince as a big addition to the party urged serving commissioners and political aides of Governor Adams Oshiomhole that have expressed willingness to join the PDP to wait till the national leadership and President Goodluck Jonathan visit the state. |

http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/top-stories/28438-national-conference-northern-delegates-reject-resolutions Northern delegates have rejected the resolutions adopted yesterday by the National Conference saying some of the controversial issues approved were literarily lifted out of a document not prepared by a conference committee. While considering the report on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government, the conference in a rowdy session resolved the delisting of local councils from the constitution and other contentious matters. But immediately after the plenary ended around 3pm, the delegates, under the auspices of Northern Delegates Forum (NDF), met and agreed to reject the resolutions and that they must be rescinded. Consequently, they sent a delegation with their request to the conference Chairman Justice Idris Kutigi. In a press statement released after the meeting, the Northern delegates accused the conference secretariat of bias, saying there was calculated plan to adopt all the recommendations made by the Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s group’s “Terms of Agreement by Six-Geopolitical Zones” document, which caused uproar at the plenary on Monday. Daily Trust exclusively reported last week that there was a plot by some sections of the country to smuggle the Dokpesi report to be adopted by the conference. The statement read thus: “The Northern Delegates Forum met today 3/7/2014 and reviewed what transpired at plenary. After an exhaustive review delegates adopted the following resolutions: “We note that decisions have been arrived at in total disregard of the Procedure Rules, 2014 in respect of issues such as Removal of the list of Local Governments from the constitution, Local Government Councils financing, Adoption of State Constitution, a Motion to adopt Reference and State Constitution. “The chairman refused flatly to recognize several members who had indicated intention to raise a point of order in respect of the method of arriving at decisions by voice vote. This is contrary to Order XI which provides as follows: All decisions of the conference at plenary and committee stage shall be reached by consensus or in the absence of that the chairman shall at his discretion adjourn proceedings to allow for further consultations, in the event of failure, to reach a solution it shall be decided by a vote of three quarter majority. “The Conference Secretariat was very selective in picking and choosing what amendments filed by members to table and which ones to ignore. For the records, motions filed by members such as Hon. Ghali Umar Na’abba, Professor Auwalu Yadudu, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, Professor Aisha Madawaki Isah, Senator Ahmed Aruwa, Dr Talatu Nasir, Muzzammil S. Hanga, Senator Kabiru Jibril, were ignored. “The leadership of the Conference in a number of cases was very arbitrary even proceeded to decide a different out come than was evidently the case. “The entire proceeding of today was evidently designed to push for the adoption of all the issues contained in the mysterious Terms of Agreement widely reported about in the press. “We consequently call for the rescissions of all decisions of the Conference arrived at plenary today, July 3, 2014 in total disregard and violation of the Procedure Rules, 2014.’ Some of the controversial resolutions adopted yesterday included those which stated that modalities for referendum be entrenched in the constitution; each zone should have nine states bringing the new states to 18 altogether; states should have their own constitutions. Also, the conference resolved that functions of the Local Governments as contained in Schedule 4 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) shall be transferred to the states subject to the power of the State Houses of Assembly to add or reduce the said functions to the Local Government. An amendment that provided that a new Revenue Allocation formula between the Federal and State Governments shall not take into consideration allocations previously made to all Local Governments when they were a tier of government. . . . . |
PhenomenonVFX: Funny guy. For all your ranting on this oil dispute one thing that is clear from this is that you are not from Kogi state. You are always claiming to speak for the north on this issue and not for Kogi state.U won't understand, northern as a whole is against creation of additional state for south east, but the person that lead anti-state creation is an Igala man senator Ahmadu Ali from ibaji kogi state. This is the spirit of Arewa at play. |
Rare Diamond: TRY GETTING YOURSELF A SOUND EDUCATION BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON A PUBLIC FORUM LIKE THIS. THIS FORUM IS NOT MEANT FOR MOR0NS LIKE YOU WHO CANNOT MAKE A CORRECT SENTENCE IN ENGLISH. Rare Diamond: YOU ARE A KNOWN ANTI IGBO BIGOTED M0RON FROM THE VIOLENT AND BACKWARD ISLAMIC NORTH. YOU ARE BEST IGNORED.There u go again, ibos are the most anti-islamic, anti-northern, so u are the biggest bigot who can't accommodate even the south south and south south west and this show that u people are sadist. |
But the south east people are very funny, how would u sit down and say u need a state? Is state creation now sadaka they share? |
http://www.punchng.com/news/state-creation-divides-delegates/ The clamour for state creation pitted delegates against one another at the National Conference on Wednesday. Some delegates claimed that it was wrong for the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government to have recommended for the creation of one state for the South-East alone without anything for the other zones. The report of the committee says, “There shall be created an additional state for the South-East zone and that all other requests for state creation should be considered on merit.” The committee approved guidelines for the creation of states by saying that any new state sought to be created must be viable. In determining what is viable, the committee says such state must be economically viable or potentially economically viable and it should have human, natural and material resources and enough land mass. The new state, it said, should have cultural/ historical antecedents, with strong cultural affinity amongst the population of the new state and that such a new state should have a minimum population of one million people. There were 34 requests for state creation before the committee while a request was made to change the name of Adamawa State to Gongola State. A delegate, who was a former Minister of Industry, Chief Nike Akande, canvassed for the creation of another state from the present Oyo State. She requested that all requests for state creation should be considered on their merit and in accordance to the criteria. Akande said, “I support the creation of more states and in this regard, I propose the split of Oyo State into two, which are Ibadan State and the rest. Oyo State has a landmass of about 28,245.26 square kilometres. It is one of the most urbanised states in the country. In the 2006 census, the state has a population of about 5.58million ranking as the fifth most populated among the 36 states of the federation. “The splitting is justifiable, expedient and necessary given the position of the state. The proposed state meets the generally accepted criteria for state creation including population, viability, historical considerations, culture affinity and contiguity. The creation of another state from Oyo State would ensure social and economic development of the states.” In his contribution, a former National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmadu Ali, queried the rationale used by the committee toward a new state for the South-East. He said, “I don’t know what criterion was used in awarding a state for the South-East geo-political zone. All of us must go and fight for state creation. I said it before that the old eastern region has 11 states. “I believe that states that wish to merge should merge. Regionalism is retrogressive. The zone we also talk about is a dangerous precedent and is not constitutional. There is an attempt to smuggle it into the report of the conference.” However, Chief Olabode George also called for the creation of Isale-Eko State from the present Lagos State. In his contribution, a former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, queried the reasons for the creation of local governments in the country. He said it was wrong for highly populated states such as Lagos to have a small number of local governments while smaller states should have a larger number of local governments. Osoba said, “Local government should be taken out of the constitution. A state like Lagos with over 12million people and only 20 local governments is unjustified. Therefore, states should be allowed to create their local governments.” Another delegate, Mr. Lawrence Ikpeazu, kicked against the call for the creation of states, saying that unlike the country, the United States of America had a few states at the beginning but that some of the states that joined the union came with their land, people and resources. He also rejected the call for sharing of the country’s resources, wondering why some parts of the country failed to contribute to the wealth of the nation. Ikpeazu said, “We should not be asking for the cake when we have not contributed to the baking of the cake.” He suggested that local government creation should not be thrown to the states to avoid abuse of the process. Belo Aliyu (Zamfara) also said that all those agitating for state creation should be made to follow the laid down criteria, adding that that there should not be preferential treatment. |
4kmukina: F00l! D worst u crooks can do is get paltry 50:50 share of wotever comes out of OPL 915. Or Orient will ignore dat oil block and continue with others, I tot u bastards said d refinery is in odeke? Chk d map and tell me if dat arrow is pointing at kogi or Anambra. Mad ppl! Please don't result to insult but Where did u get that map from? My question is if the map is important what is anambra waiting for? And nobody says kogi own the oil refinery, they only claim to own the oil well. That is why they stop orient refinery from drill from odeke, anambra cannot build refinery in their state and come to another state kogi to drill oil, just to claim they are oil producing state. That is criminal act simple |
4kmukina: Amadioha send thunder to tear ur abunna! Please what is holding u people with all this ur map and data? take it to nbc so that emeka anyaoku and anambra can start drilling the oil after huge investment they have made hahahahahaha |
backtosender: The day kogi go venture in anambra soil to thief oil that will be the end of that part of kogi, anambra will use that opportunity and claim some part of kogi let them try and see..Look at you, is odeke in ibo land or north? Nobody is dragging the oil refinery in aguleri with u, u can keep ur refinery but if u step ur legs in odeke land that will be the end of that ibo man. Ask any youth from agulari to step odeke land and see if they have the mind hahahahaha |
kastonkastrol: odeke is located in which state in Nigeria? Dude I don't argue blindly.. I hope the kogi people won't allow anambra people steal what rightly belongs to them.Don't mind those Barawoos, they went and build refinery in aguleri in anambra to drill oil from odeke in kogi |
Johnolis: Speaking from a professional point of view, geologically, kogi state has no oil. Before i proceed,i would like us to get familiar with terms such as source rock, reservoir rock, trap and hydrocarbon migration.crude oil is normally produced in shaley formations which serves as source rock, these newly formed crude then migrate to sandy units which are porous and permeable until the oil is sealed by a trap...with the above said,i must have to say that the above conditions are all within the anambra sedimentary basin..and not in kogi.,though some oil might have migrated or have become oil seepages in kogi, that alone doesnt guarantee you being the owner...it should be noted that the anambra basin and part of the lower benue trough are ideal or potential source of hydrocarbons, though the anambra basin isnt restricted to anambra state alone,it gave rise to the niger-delta basin.i know am sounding complex, but what am saying in essence is that there wont be any oil in niger delta if the anambra basin isnt in existence...quote me anywhere and i will defend that...kogi state government should just rest and stop fighting a lost course...well,i must say that the geology of southeastern nigeria is one of the most complex and most interesting as well. With all the nonsense you stated above, what is stopping anambra from drilling the oil or why did FG stop them since last year? When emeka anya owner of orient refinery who invest, is pleading for 50-50 between kogi and anambra and kogi is saying NO. U ibos on nairaland are saying rubbish, u people will see. |
See this ediot. Look at your logic, how f2king stup1d are you or is your own special? Kogi has NO evidence to back them up hence they making noise and complaining everywhere. Anambra has evidence and long brought it out when the fish started and that is the reason they are quiet. Why make noise when out of the two you're the only one that brought out something to support yourself thus, its easy for you to conclude where the decision would go. I swear you're an illliterate. They need to put you in a museum, your own is special.
You people are criminalsss, if you have evidence and kogi don't have, what is stopping FG from giving anambra state the oil? You people always deceived ur self |
Amazing that is the Yoruba cowards running their mouth. Yoruba wet in concern you with anambra vs. Kogi dispute. You're neither anambra or kogi yet you lazy, monkey looking buffoons are stomping your fat ugly self into their business, when they start descending on you people like they usually do, name una would whoin and cry like youre the victim. I swear there is just one ethnic group in Nigeria I'll be happy if they are wiped out and that's Yoruba. Anyway @topic Kogi people should just stop being lazy and go get a job. Trying to steal another man's property is disgusting. Anambra has brought out their proof why the oil wells is there's. Yet till date, kogi has yet to provide shit...all they keep saying the well is ours, its ours. If you so believe it is yours, bring out your evidence like anambra did, give it to the proper authority like anambra did and wait for their decision, instead of trying to blackmail the FG and Anambra government to share with you on something that's clearly isn't yours.
Who is a lazy man and who is a hard-working man? What are people doing that makes u a hard-working people? U are not ashamed that u bring out evidence is 2013 and FG don't see anything to say on it and u keep quite. If truly anambra owns the oil well why are they not complain to FG, to release the report on their evidence they submitted. Or they don't want 13percent oil revenue? Kogi need that money, that is why they still raised the issue, You people build refinery in vain. |
Johnpaul2k2: stupiDDD Kogi moro.ns want to ripe where your father did not sow.Between kogi and anambra which state is underdeveloped? If they compress the development in kogi to the size of anambra landmass, there won't be space to pass through in that ur anambra. |
mhizbanega: Thief which oil well belong to Kogi.st? You want to come reap where yuh did nor sow, Leave Anambra oil alone!!! Go find work!! Lazy bones!!What is ur work? Is it To go to another mans land and claim u developed it? U people always like to work in vain LOL. |
sCun: Oya go take am na.It is u people who are claiming what is not your own, u want to build refinery when u don't oil, u used the oil to campaign in last election, obino this obiano that. Even jonathian knw the truth, that is why FG suspend anambra from collecting 13percent oil revenue. |
That oil well belong to kogi inshallah, even though anambra build refinery. |
http://www.punchng.com/news/anambra-kogi-reps-clash-over-disputed-oil-well-2/ Two members of the House of Representatives clashed on Tuesday over the disputed crude oil reserves in the Anambra Basin. The lawmakers were the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, and Mr. Ismail Hussein. Ekwunife, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, is from Anambra State, while Hussein, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, represents Idah/Ibaji/Igala-Melu Federal Constituency of Kogi State. A brief finger-pointing and shouting took place after Ekwunife protested against the choice of words used by Hussein, who was raising a motion on the controversial oil well. The mild drama started as Hussein moved a motion on urgent public importance to draw the attention of the House to the unresolved dispute between the people of Kogi State and their Anambra neighbours over the oil well. Hussein had sought that the House Committee on Special Duties should be mandated to look into the matter, with a view to resolving the boundary dispute between the two states. However, while presenting the motion, he had alleged that the Anambra people had been killing their Kogi neighbours. His submission angered Ekwunife, who stood up to oppose Hussein. The session, which was presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, became charged, as Ekwunife raised her voice to counter Hussein. She said the Anambra people were “wrongly accused of being killers”, when “in fact”, it was the Kogi people who had been doing the killing. She shouted, “No, no, Mr. Speaker, Kogi people have been killing Anambra people. “It is wrong for him to come here and say we are killing Kogi people. Anambra people are not killers; we are not killers.” She also dismissed the motion as unnecessary since there was a pending referral on the same subject to the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream). As she resumed her seat, Hussein too complained that he did not see what was wrong with his presentation. “This was just a motion; there is a crisis on ground, which has to be resolved,” he complained to some of his colleagues sitting close to him. Part of his motion read, “To urge the Federal Government to mobilise the security agencies to man the border between Ibaji Local Government in Kogi and Anambra State as a matter of urgency. “Urge the Committee on Petroleum Upstream and Special Duties to submit their report as quickly as possible to prevent further destruction to lives and properties. “The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency make a categorical statement on the claims of ownership of the oil wells.” Tambuwal stepped in quickly to douse tension. He noted that he was aware that the matter had been “very contentious”, a reason he said he did not want to allow a prolonged debate on it. The Speaker ruled that Hussein should withdraw his motion pending the outcome of the investigation by the Committee on Petroleum Resources. He directed the committee to produce its report next Tuesday. It will be recalled that fighting between communities in both states along the Anambra Basin had claimed lives since 2013. The fighting has been fierce between the people of Echenwo/Odeke in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State and the people of Agulerii-Otu in Anambra-East Local Government of Anambra State. The Senate, last year, described the fighting as “war over crude oil.” |
If fayose can use this trick to win ekiti election, this senator can win. All what people need now is bag of rice shekena |
