Music/Radio › Re: 'No More' Video by Genevieve Nnaji by abuguy64(m): 9:24am On Nov 14, 2005
Yeah, let's leave her personality and life style(I don't know much of either!) out of this, it is a nice piece of work especially when compared to all the stuff we have these days.  It is a mixture of  many things, but clearly highlife is a theme. The concept of the song is meaniful and relevant to todays' issues, talking about "NO MORE to GENDER VIOLENCE". All in all,it is good, but there is always room for improvement.

Hmm..This is not an issue to be treated lightly or discussed conclusively here. You were earlier advised to read the church history.Whay dont you do that, and if you still have questions, then post again! Some of your comments or choice of words shows how little you know about The Church-enlighten yourself by reading-lots of info on the internet.Good luck

Family › Re: Any Disadvantage in Marrying From Another Tribe? by abuguy64(m): 5:50am On Nov 08, 2005
Hmmmm....In the global village that we live in,such a topic should not even be discussed. The guy who does not speak his language, and is going to be head of extended family-na wahala be that oh !You better let your people know that all your deficiencies and let them decide if you can still be village head! BUT are you getting married for you OR for your family/village!? I have a similar tale as yours, except am not first son. So I packed my bags,as the Bible advised,-"a man shall leave his father and his mother" got married to someone from a different tribe(because that is whom I love and God led me to marry) and "am glinging to her". Do you know the implications of this village head thing you are talking about?! Ma broda, abeg be careful in this life oh!Good luck in whatever decisions you make.

Family › Re: Marriage Without Parents' Knowledge? by abuguy64(m): 3:05pm On Nov 06, 2005
Ideally, one's parents should be aware of and sanction ones marriage. However, sometimes circumstances may make this rather difficult or impossible. My advice is once you take a decision,be sure that is what you want, and be prepared to face the consequence(s).I have been married since 1997 and neither of my parents have ever met my wife even though all are in Nigeria. I took that decision based on my previous experiences with my father especially, and my mum had been out of my life since age 3yrs. The early years were tough, now we have 2 lovely girls, and are doing much better as a family. Me thinks,if you have a family that genuinely cares and love you, then you would not need to do things without their support. If you have a family that has shown over the years ,that they are more interested in your failures, and their benefits, than your happiness-then you do not need such people in your life, and they should not influence your decisions in life.Since the year I decided to start to make my desicions without involving my so called family,I have been more successful, that the years, where the family made desicions for me. But if the family has geniune concerns about whom you propose to marry, please do a rethink, and investigate further lest you live to regret! huh

Car Talk › Re: Getting a Driver's License in Nigeria by abuguy64(m): 7:21am On Oct 14, 2005
Vexxy, dont be puzzled by the replies you've gotten so far. The laws about driving, licence, insurance etc are all there, but people tend to advoid them. This is because of the fustration, and delays you get when you want to go through the proper beaurocratic channels. People like us who do try,are laughed at by society and all. Yes,I do have a driving license, but did driving school etc.At then end I had to follow the crowd and get the license through someone I never met,and certainly did not undergo any test!!!
PEOPLE , this does not only occur in Nigeria oh!...Here in Pakistan,my International staff colleagues have gotten both Pakistani and International driving license without any driving tests-and it cost much less than in Nigeria!Anyway Pakistan and Nigeria are both termed to be the most corrupt nations in the world! grin

Career › Re: Nigerians Studying Abroad: Would You Go Back Home To Work? by abuguy64(m): 11:07am On Oct 07, 2005
I had the lofty idea of going back home after my studies in NL in late 2002. Got really frustrated at the treatment I recieved when I got back to my former place of work. It did not take too long to decide to check out again, for greener pastures. I honestly cant say for now,if I'll ever want to go back home to settle down. I visit frequently becos my wife and kis are still back there. The temptation not to go back home to work am sure is so strong.I mean, you get better job, better pay, better life, and better services-so whay would one want to go back!?

Family › Re: Should A Woman Be Pregnant for Her Fiance Before Marriage? by abuguy64(m): 2:46pm On Sep 28, 2005
Hmmm...I belong to the school of thought on sex and pregnancy after marriage!Marriage is not solely to produce children, but to share your life with someone you love.Parents who give this advice are saying they slept with their spouses before marriage?!Not too likely in the times past!that means you would have regular contact for some months, and how do you decide when to conclude that the person is not fertile?!This is just giving a good excuse for people to be promiscous. huh

This includes pretending to be who he is not, borrowing clothes, cars and even house to impress the lady(ies).Which takes us back to the earlier comments by Viktor.
