Islam › Re: Lets Try To Rejuvenate Our Faith In The Holy Month Of Dhul Hijjah by AbuHanifa: 9:07pm On Nov 06, 2010
May Allah reward the contractors and the poster. It is glaring that most muslims don't know the importance of these days. I implore us to make this information widespread especially on facebook where we have community of muslims.

BISMILLAHI RAHMANI RAHEEM
Allah has blessed all muslims with innumerable things. He has made some periods, time of harvest. Part of the harvest time for the muslims include:
1. Ramadan
2. Lailatul Qadr
3. Yaomu Jumuah
4. Last 3rd part of the night
5. First 10 days of DhulHijja

In Suratul Fajr v 1-4, Allah says:
1. I swear with the dawn
2. By the 10 nights
3. By even and odd
4. By the night when it departs
Most of the Qur’an exegetes agree that the 10 nights implies that of the Dhul Hijja. Jaabir bn Abdullah reported the Prophet (SAW) to have said it is the nights preceeding the killing of the ram, witr means Yaomu Arafa and Shaf’I is the day of killing ram, Ibn Nasai reported this Hadith.

DUTIES OF THE MUSLIMS DURING THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJA
Abdullah ibn Abass reported the Prophet (SAW) to have said “Of all the days Allah has created that we do good deeds, none has reward more than that of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijja.” The Sahabas asked “Oh Prophet, even more than fighting in the cause of Allah? The Prophet answered in affirmation and said except for a man who left his home with his soul and belongings and died there with all he took there. This person has reward that is tantamount to that of First 10 days of Dhul Hijja.

Abdullah ibn Umar reported the Prophet (SAW) to have said “There is no day Allah loves muslims to do ggod deeds more than that of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijja. Because of this, be plentiful in TAHLIL( LAILAILA LAH), TAKBIR (ALLAHU AKBAR) , and TAHMID (ALHAMDULILAH), Reported by Imam Ahmad.
We should know that Yaomu Arafa is included in these days as Jabir reported that the Prophet (SAW) said The best of all days is Yaomu Arafa. Reported by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih.
Other goods on these days include:
1. Fasting and Qiyaamulai. Abu Huraira reported the Prophet to have said the best days Allah loves His worship is that of first 10 days of Dhul Hijja. If you fast a day in it, it is like fasting for a year, if you observe Qiyamulail (Observing nawafil in the mid night) in it, it is like standing for Lailatul Qadr. By Thirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Bayhaqi
2. Reading the Quran
3. Commanding good and forbidding evil.
4. Sadaqa etc
Zaid bn Jubair would be high in worship until he experiences fatigue. Alsi Abu Huraira and Abdullahi bn Umar would walk in the streets, markets chanting ALLAHU AKBAR LAHU AKBAR LAHU AKBAR, LAILAHAILA LAH, ALLAHU AKBAR LAHU AKBAR, WALILAHI L HAMD.
On the day of Arafa muslims are expected to fast. Prophet (SAW) said Allah uses this to wipe off a year sin. Imam Shafi’I (RL) recommended travelers to fast on that day too.
Brethren in faith, during this period, let us refrain from vain talks, evil deeds, looking things that are forbidden, etc.
The Prophet recommended us to always say “LAILA ILA LAHU WAHADAU LA SHARIKA LAHU LAHU L MULK WALAHU L HAMD BIYADI L KHAIR WAHUWA ALA KULLI SHAIN QADIR. Imam Ahmad
It was a lecture delivered by Ustadh Dhikrulah Shafi’I and translated by AbuHanifa.

Christianity Etc › Halloween Is Not Acceptable by AbuHanifa(op): 10:34am On Oct 17, 2010
Pagan Origins of Halloween
Halloween originated as the Eve of Samhain, a celebration marking the beginning of winter and the first day of the New Year among ancient pagans of the British Isles. On this occasion, it was believed that supernatural forces gathered together, that the barriers between the supernatural and human worlds were broken. They believed that spirits from other worlds (such as the souls of the dead) were able to visit earth during this time and roam about. At this time, they celebrated a joint festival for the sun god and the lord of the dead. The sun was thanked for the harvest and given moral support for the upcoming "battle" with winter. In ancient times, the pagans made sacrifices of animals and crops in order to please the gods.

They also believed that on October 31st, the lord of the dead gathered all the souls of the people who had died that year. The souls upon death would dwell in the body of an animal, then on this day the lord would announce what form they were to take for the next year.

Christian Influence
When Christianity came to the British Isles, the church tried to take attention away from these pagan rituals by placing a Christian holiday on the same day. The Christian festival, the Feast of All Saints, acknowledges the saints of the Christian faith in much the same way that Samhain had paid tribute to the pagan gods. The customs of Samhain survived anyway, and eventually became intertwined with the Christian holiday. These traditions were brought to the United States by immigrants from Ireland and Scotland.

Halloween Customs and Traditions

* "Trick or Treating": It is widely believed that during the Feast of All Saints, peasants went from house to house asking for money to buy food for the upcoming feast. Additionally, people dressed in costumes would often play tricks on their neighbors. Blame for the resulting chaos was placed on the "spirits and goblins."

* Images of bats, black cats, etc.: These animals were believed to communicate with the spirits of the dead. Black cats especially were believed to house the souls of witches.

* Games such as bobbing for apples: The ancient pagans used divination techniques to foresee the future. There were various methods of doing this, and many have continued through traditional games, often played at children's parties.

* Jack-O'-Lantern: The Irish brought the Jack-O'-Lantern to America. The tradition is based on a legend about a stingy, drunken man named Jack. Jack played a trick on the devil, then made the devil promise not to take his soul. The devil, upset, promised to leave Jack alone. When Jack died, he was turned away from Heaven because he was a stingy, mean drunk. Desperate for a resting place, he went to the devil but the devil also turned him away. Stuck on earth on a dark night, Jack was lost. The devil tossed him a lighted coal from the fire of Hell, which Jack placed inside a turnip as a lamp to light his way. Since that day, he has traveled the world over with his Jack-O'-Lantern in search of a resting place. Irish children carved out turnips and potatoes to light the night on Halloween. When the Irish came to America in great numbers in the 1840's, they found that a pumpkin made an even better lantern, and this "American tradition" came to be.

Islamic Teachings
Virtually all Halloween traditions are based either in ancient pagan culture, or in Christianity. From an Islamic point of view, they all are forms of idolatry (shirk). As Muslims, our celebrations should be ones that honor and uphold our faith and beliefs. How can we worship only Allah, the Creator, if we participate in activities that are based in pagan rituals, divination, and the spirit world? Many people participate in these celebrations without even understanding the history and the pagan connections, just because their friends are doing it, their parents did it ("it's a tradition!"wink, and because "it's fun!"

So what can we do, when our children see others dressed up, eating candy, and going to parties? While it may be tempting to join in, we must be careful to preserve our own traditions and not allow our children to be corrupted by this seemingly "innocent" fun. When tempted, remember the pagan origins of these traditions, and ask Allah to give you strength. Save the celebration, the fun and games, for our 'Eid festivals. Children can still have their fun, and most importantly, should learn that we only acknowledge holidays that have a religious significance to us as Muslims. Holidays are not just excuses to binge and be reckless. In Islam, our holidays retain their religious importance, while allowing proper time for rejoicing, fun and games.

Guidance From the Quran
On this point, the Quran says:

"When it is said unto them, 'Come to what Allah has revealed, come to the Messenger,' they say, 'Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following.' What! Even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?" (Qur'an 5:104)

"Has not the time arrived for the believers, that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed to them? That they should not become like those to whom was given the Book aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors." (Qur'an 57:16)

Foreign Affairs › Message To The World--ahmedinejad by AbuHanifa(op): 8:53am On Oct 11, 2010
United Nations, New York, Sept 24, IRNA -- The following is the full text of
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech delivered to the 65th annual meeting
of United Nations General assembly in New York on Thursday.

Mr. President, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am grateful to the Almighty God who granted me the opportunity to appear
before this world assembly once again. I wish to begin by commemorating
those who lost their lives in the horrible flood in Pakistan and express my
heartfelt sympathy with the families who lost their loved ones as well as
with the people and the government of Pakistan. I urge everyone to
assist their fellow men and women as a humane duty.

Let me thank H.E. Mr. Ali Abdussalam Treki, the President of the the sixty-
fourth session of the United Nations General Assembly, for all his efforts
during his tenure. I also would like to congratulate H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss,
the President of the sixty-fifth session of the United Nations General
Assembly and wish him all success.

In the past years, I spoke to you about some of the hopes and concerns,
including family crises, security, human dignity, world economy, climate
change as well as the aspiration for justice and lasting peace.

After about one hundred years of domination, the system of Capitalism and
the existing world order has proved to be unable to provide appropriate
solution to the problems of societies, thus coming to an end. I shall try to
examine the two main causes of this failure and picture some features of the
ideal future order.

A) Attitudes and Beliefs

As you are well aware, the divine prophets had the mission to call everyone
to monotheism, love and justice and show mankind the path to prosperity.
They invite men to contemplation and knowledge in order to better appreciate
the truth and to avoid atheism and egoism. The very nature of the message of
all prophets is one and the same. Every messenger endorsed the messenger
before him and gave glad tidings about the prophet to come, and presented a
more complete version of the religion in accordance with the capacity of the
man at the time. This continued up to the last messenger of God who
presented the perfect and all inclusive religion.

In opposition to that, the egotist and the greedy stood up against this
clear call, revolting against the message.

Nimrod countered Hazrat Abraham, Pharaoh countered Hazrat Moses and the
greedy countered Hazrat Jesus Christ and Hazrat Mohammad (Peace be upon them
all). In the recent centuries, the human ethics and values have been
rejected as a cause for backwardness. They were even portrayed as opposing
wisdom and science because of the earlier infliction on man by the
proclaimers of religion in the dark ages of the West

Man's disconnection from Heaven detached him from his true self.

Man with his potentials for understanding the secrets of the universe, his
instinct for seeking truth, his aspirations for justice and perfection, his
quest for beauty and purity and his capacity to represent God on earth was
reduced to a creature limited to the materialistic world with a mission to
maximize individualistic pleasures. Human instinct, then, replaced true
human nature.

Human beings and nations were considered rivals and the happiness of an
individual or a nation was defined in collision with, and elimination or
suppression of others. Constructive evolutionary cooperation was replaced
with a destructive struggle for survival.

The lust for capital and domination replaced monotheism which is the gate to
love and unity.

This widespread clash of the egoist with the divine values gave way to
slavery and colonialism. A large portion of the world came under the
domination of a few western States. Tens of millions of people were taken to
slavery and tens of millions of families were shattered as a result. All the
resources, the rights and the cultures of the colonized nations were
plundered. Lands were occupied and the indigenous people were humiliated and
mass- murdered.

Yet, nations rose up, colonialism was alienated and the independence of the
nations was recognized. Thus, the hope for respect, prosperity and security
was revived amongst nations. In the beginning of the past century nice talks
about freedom, human rights and democracy created hopes for healing the deep
wounds of the past. Today, however, not only those dreams are not realized,
but memories, even at times worse than before, have been recorded.

As a result of the two World Wars, the occupation of Palestine, the Korean
and the Vietnam's Wars, the Iraqi war against Iran, the occupation of
Afghanistan and Iraq as well as many wars in Africa, hundreds of millions of
people were killed, wounded or displaced.

Terrorism, illicit drugs, poverty and the social gaps increased. The
dictatorial and coup d'etat governments in Latin America committed
unprecedented crimes with the support of the West.

Instead of disarmament, the proliferation and stockpiling of nuclear,
biological and chemical weapons expanded, putting the world under a bigger
threat. As a result, the very same old goals of colonialists and the slave
masters were, this time round, pursued with a new facade.

B) The Global Management and Ruling Structures

The League of Nations and, then, the United Nations were established with
the promise to bring about peace, security and the realization of human
rights, which in fact meant a global management.

One can analyze the current governance of the world by examining three
events:

First, the event of the II September 2001 which has affected the whole world
for almost a decade.

All of a sudden, the news of the attack on the twin towers was broadcast
using numerous footages of the incident.

Almost all governments and known figures strongly condemned this incident.

But then a propaganda machine came into full force; it was implied that the
whole world was exposed to a huge danger, namely terrorism, and that the
only way to save the world would be to deploy forces into Afghanistan.

Eventually Afghanistan, and shortly thereafter Iraq were occupied.

Please take note:

It was said that some three thousands people were killed on the II September
for which we are all very saddened. Yet, up until now, in Afghanistan and
Iraq hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, millions wounded and
displaced and the conflict is still going on and expanding.

In identifying those responsible for the attack, there were three
viewpoints.

1- That a very powerful and complex terrorist group, able to successfully
cross all layers of the American intelligence and security, carried out the
attack. This is the main viewpoint advocated by American statesmen.

2- That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to
reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in
order also to save the Zionist regime.

The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians
agree with this view.

3- It was carried out by a terrorist group but the American government
supported and took advantage of the situation. Apparently, this viewpoint
has fewer proponents.

The main evidence linking the incident was a few passports found in the huge
volume of rubble and a video of an individual whose place of domicile was
unknown but it was announced that he had been involved in oil deals with
some American officials. It was also covered up and said that due to the
explosion and fire no trace of the suicide attackers was found.

There remain, however, a few questions to be answered:

1- Would it not have been sensible that first a thorough investigation
should have been conducted by independent groups to conclusively identify
the elements involved in the attack and then map out a rational plan to take
measures against them?

2- Assuming the viewpoint of the American government, is it rational to
launch a classic war through widespread deployment of troops that led to the
death of hundreds of thousands of people to counter a terrorist group?

3- Was it not possible to act the way Iran countered the Riggi terrorist
group who killed and wounded 400 innocent people in Iran. In the Iranian
operation no innocent person was hurt.

It is proposed that the United Nations set up an independent fact-finding
group for the event of the II September so that in the future expressing
views about it is not forbidden.

I wish to announce here that next year the Islamic Republic of Iran will
host a conference to study terrorism and the means to confront it. I invite
officials, scholars, thinkers, researchers and research institutes of all
countries to attend this conference.

Second, is the occupation of the Palestinian territories

The oppressed people of Palestine have lived under the rule of an occupying
regime for 60 years, been deprived of freedom, security and the right to
self- determination, while the occupiers are given recognition. On a daily
basis, the houses are being destroyed over the heads of innocent women and
children. People are deprived of water, food and medicine in their own
homeland. The Zionists have imposed five all-out wars on the neighboring
countries and on the Palestinian people.

The Zionists committed the most horrible crimes against the defenseless
people in the wars against Lebanon and Gaza.

The Zionist regime attacked a humanitarian flotilla in a blatant defiance of
all international norms and kills the civilians.

This regime which enjoys the absolute support of some western countries
regularly threatens the countries in the region and continues publicly
announced assassination of Palestinian figures and others, while Palestinian
defenders and those opposing this regime are pressured, labeled as
terrorists and anti Semites. All values, even the freedom of expression, in
Europe and in the United States are being sacrificed at the altar of
Zionism.

Solutions are doomed to fail because the right of the Palestinian people is
not taken into account.

Would we have witnessed such horrendous crimes if instead of recognizing the
occupation, the sovereign right ofthe Palestinian people had been
recognized?

Our unambiguous proposition is the return of the Palestinian refugees to
their home land and the reference to the vote of the people of Palestine to
exercise their sovereignty and decide on the type of governance.

Third, is the nuclear energy

Nuclear energy is clean and cheap and a heavenly gift which is amongst the
most suitable alternatives to cut the pollutions emanating from fossil
fuels.

The Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) allows all member States to use nuclear
energy without limits and the International Atomic Energy Agency is mandated
to provide member States with technical and legal support.

The nuclear bomb is the worst inhumane weapon and which must totally be
eliminated. The NPT prohibits its development and stockpiling and calls for
nuclear disarmament.

Nonetheless, note what some of the permanent members of the Security Council
and nuclear bomb holders have done:

They have equated nuclear energy with the nuclear bomb, and have distanced
this energy from the reach of most of nations by establishing monopolies and
pressuring the IAEA. While at the same time, they have continued to
maintain, expand and upgrade their own nuclear arsenals.

This has entailed the following:

Not only the nuclear disarmament has not been realized but also nuclear
bombs have been proliferated in some regions, including by the occupying and
intimidating Zionist regime.

I would like here to propose that the year 20II be proclaimed the year of
nuclear disarmament and 'Nuclear Energy for all, Nuclear Weapons for None'.

In all these cases the United Nations has been unable to take any effective
course of action. Unfortunately, in the decade proclaimed as the
'International Decade for the Culture of Peace' hundreds of thousands were
killed and injured as a result of war, aggression and occupation, and
hostilities and antagonism increased.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Very recently the world witnessed the ugly and inhumane act of burning the
Holy Quran.

The Holy Quran is the Divine Book and the eternal miracle of the Prophet of
lslam. It calls for worshipping the One God, justice, compassion toward
people, development and progress, reflection and thinking, defending the
oppressed and resisting against the oppressors; and it names with respect
the previous Messengers of God, like Noah, Abraham, Isaaq, Joseph, Moses and
Jesus Christ (Peace be Upon them all) and endorses them, They burned Quran
to bum all these truths and good judgments. However, the truth could not be
burned. Quran is eternal because God and truth are everlasting. This act and
any other act which widens the gap and distances between nations is evil. We
should wisely avoid playing into the hands of Satan. On behalf o f the
Iranian nation I pay respect to all Divine Books and their followers. This
is the Quran and this is the Bible. I pay respect to both o f them.

Esteemed Friends,

For years the inefficiency of the capitalism and the existing world
management and structures has been exposed and the majority of States and
nations have been on a quest for fundamental changes and for the prevalence
of justice in global relations.

The cause of the United Nation's ineptitude is in its unjust structure.
Major power is monopolized in the Security Council due to the veto
privilege, and the main pillar of the Organization, namely the General
Assembly, is marginalized.

In the past several decades, at least one of the permanent members of the
Security Council has always been a party to the disputes.

The veto advantage grants impunity to aggression and occupation; How could,
therefore, one expect competence while both the judge and the prosecutor are
a party to the dispute?

Had Iran enjoyed veto privilege, would the Security Council and the IAEA
Director General have taken the same position in the nuclear issue?

Dear Friends,

The United Nations is the key center for coordinating the common global
management. Its structure needs to be reformed in a manner that all
independent States and nations be able to participate in the global
governance actively and constructively.

The veto privilege should be revoked and the General Assembly should be the
highest body and the Secretary-General should be the most independent
official and all his positions and activities should be taken with the
approval of the General Assembly and should be directed towards promoting
justice and eliminating discrimination.

The Secretary-General should not come under pressure from powers and/or the
country hosting the Organization for his stating the truth and
administration of justice.

It is suggested that the General Assembly should, within one year and in the
framework of an extraordinary session, finalize the reformation of the
Organization's structure.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has clear suggestions in this regard and stands
ready to participate actively and constructively in the process.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I announce clearly that the occupation of other
countries under the pretext of freedom and democracy is an unforgivable
crime.

The world needs the logic of compassion and justice and inclusive
participation instead oflogic offorce, domination, unilateralism, war and
intimidation.

The world needs to be governed by virtuous people like the Divine Prophets.

The two vast geographical spheres, namely Africa and Latin America, have
gone through historic developments during the past decades. The new
approaches in these two continents, which are based on increasing level of
integration and unity as well as on localizing the growth and development
models, have born considerable fruits to the 'peoples of those regions.

The awareness and wisdom of the leaders of these two continents has overcome
the regional problems and crises without the domineering interference of
non-regional powers.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has expanded its relations with the Latin
America and Africa in all aspects in recent years.

And about the glorious Iran,

The Tehran Declaration was a hugely constructive step in confidence building
efforts which was made possible through the admirable good will by the
governments of Brazil and Turkey along with the sincere cooperation of the
Iranian government. Although the Declaration received inappropriate reaction
by some and was followed by an unlawful resolution, it is still valid.

We have observed the regulations of the IAEA more than our commitments, yet,
we have never submitted to illegally imposed pressures nor will we ever do
so.

It has been said that they want to pressure Iran into a dialogue. Well,
firstly, Iran has always been ready for a dialogue based on respect and
justice. Secondly, methods based on disrespecting nations have long become
ineffective. Those who have used intimidation and sanctions in response to
the clear logic of the Iranian nation are in real terms destroying the
remaining credibility of the Security Council and the trust of nations for
this body, proving once and again how unjust is the function of the Council.

When they threaten a great nation such as Iran which is known throughout
history for its scientists, poets, artists and philosophers and whose
culture and civilization is synonymous to purity, submission to God and
seeking justice, how can they ever expect that other nations grow confidence
on them?

It goes without saying that domineering methods in managing the world has
failed. Not only has the era of slavery and colonialism and dominating the
world passed, the path to the reviving old Empires are blocked, too.

We have announced that we stand ready for a serious and free debate with the
American Statesmen to express our transparent views on issues of importance
to the world in this very venue.

It is proposed here that in order to have a constructive dialogue, an annual
free debate be organized within the General Assembly.

In conclusion,

Friends and Colleagues,

The Iranian nation and the majority of the world's nations and governments
are against the current discriminatory management of the world.

The inhumane nature of this management has put it at a dead-end and requires
a major overhaul.

Reforming the world's affairs and bringing about tranquility and prosperity
requires the participation of all, pure thoughts and the divine and humane
management.

We are all of the idea that:

Justice is the basic element for peace, durable security and the spread of
love among peoples and nations. It is in the justice that mankind seeks the
realization o f his aspirations, rights and dignity, since he is wary of
oppression, humiliation and ill treatment.

The true nature of mankind is manifested in the love for other fellow humans
and love for all the good in the world. Love is the best foundation for
establishing relation amongst people and amongst nations.

As Vahshi Bafqi, the great Iranian poet, says: 'From the fountain of youth,
drink thousand sips Y ou'll still die if you don't have love's grip'

In making a world full of purity, safety and prosperity people are not
rivals but companions.

Those who see their happiness but in the sorrow of others and their welfare
and safety but in others' insecurity, those who see themselves superior to
others, are out of the path of humanity and are in evil's course.

Economy and materialistic means are only some tools to serve others, to
create friendship and strengthen human connections for spiritual perfection.
They are not tools for show-off or means of dominating others.

Men and women complements each other and family unit with pure, loving and
long-lasting relation of the spouses in its center is the guarantee for the
continuity and the bringing up generations, for true pleasures, for
spreading love and for reforming of the societies.

Woman is a reflection of God's beauty and is the source of love and caring.
She is the guardian o f purity and exquisiteness o f the society.

The tendency to toughen the souls and behaviors of women deprives them from
their very basic right of being a loving mother and a caring wife. It would
result in a more violent society with irreversible defects.

Freedom is a divine right that should serve peace and human perfection.

Pure thoughts and the will of the righteous are keys to the gates of a pure
life full of hope, liveliness and beauty.

This is the promise of God that the earth will be inherited by the pure and
the righteous. And the people free from selfishness will take up the
management of the world. Then, there will be no trace of sorrow,
discrimination, poverty, insecurity and aggression. The time for true
happiness and for the blossoming of the true nature of humankind, the way
God has intended, will arrive.

All those seeking for justice and all the free spirits have been waiting for
this moment and have promised such glorious time.

The complete human, the true servant of God and the true friend of the
mankind whose father was from the generation of the beloved Prophet of Islam
and whose mother was from the true believers of the Jesus Christ, shall wait
along with Jesus the son of Marry and the other righteous to appear on those
brilliant times and assist the humanity.

In welcoming them we should join ranks and seek justice.

Praise to Love and worship, praise to justice and freedom, praise to the
true humanity, the complete human, the true companion of the humankind and
peace be upon you and all the righteous and the pure.

Thank you.
Islam › Kidnap Cases In Nigeria; What Is The Way Out? by AbuHanifa(op): 12:43pm On Oct 01, 2010
234 NEXT NEWSPAPER REPORTS ON FRI OCT 1, 2010

Worried by the incessant abduction of its members, the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has petitioned Goodluck Jonathan on the state of insecurity in Edo State, particularly kidnappings, with the doctors apparently being the main targets.

No fewer than four doctors have been kidnapped in the state within the last four weeks, with the abduction of a couple, Olabisi Ihenyen, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Benin, and her husband, Lionel, last week being the latest. The doctors blamed the porous security situation in the country on insensitivity on the part of government officials at all levels.

In a petition signed by the association’s chairman, Philip Ugbodaga; Secretary, Emmanuel Ighodaro and the Public Relations Officer, Kennedy Alohan, and made available to NEXT yesterday after it was presented to the president through the state government, they suggested that the federal government should also review and redeploy heads of security apparatuses in the states as he has done at the federal level.

“Kidnapping, which started like child’s play a few years ago in Port Harcourt, has since assumed a life of its own and has defied all solutions,” the doctors said. “It has now gone beyond a remote trend to become a constant part of our existence. As doctors, we are extremely worried that we are unable to practice our profession in an atmosphere of fear, anxiety and insecurity.

“In the past couple of months, at least 18 medical/dental doctors have been abducted in Edo State, creating fear and anxiety in the minds of doctors practicing in the state. Clearly, Edo is now tops in the despicable crime of kidnapping of doctors.”

Constant fear

The statement said the security situation has put doctors in constant fear, as they are unable to engage in call duty and emergency services rendered after normal work hours. They, therefore, called for the convocation of a national conference on kidnapping, to find a way forward.

“The sweeping changes in the top echelon of the nation’s security apparatus you undertook recently should be immediately extended to the security establishments in all states of the federation, and especially Edo State,” he said. “There is a need to restructure Nigeria to accommodate state and community policing. The security agencies should stop kidnapping now. We believe they are capable of doing it if they are ready to work. The general feeling of the people now is not whether it will happen but when, where and who the next target would be.”

The doctors said the effect of kidnapping on the state is too enormous, as it scares away potential investors and robs the state of the benefit of development opportunities. “It clearly appears to us that the only safe place to live in Nigeria is Aso Rock,” they said. “We therefore urge you to deploy the same security arrangement in the villa to the rest of Nigeria. That is the only way we can be assured that you are truly working in the interest of the people of this country.” The NMA also said the scourge of kidnapping is a direct result of the “long-standing irresponsibility of successive Nigerian leaders,” resulting from bad governance and corruption. It also blamed Nigeria’s “sad culture that venerates wealth without regard to its source”.

PM NEWS REPORTS ON 17TH OF SEPT 2010

Five members of the National Youth Service Corps, four female and one male, were last night, at about 11.30 pm, abducted by unknown gunmen at Corpers’ Lodge at Unuogha Community Secondary school in Omuma Local Government area of Rivers State.

According eyewitness account, the gunmen who arrived in a Sports Utility Vehicle, stormed the Corpers’ Lodge, shot sporadically into the air to scare people and abducted the corps members.

They also made away with valuable belongings of the Corps members.

Immediately after the Corps members were abducted, the kidnappers put the Corps members on phone to announce to their colleagues and relations that they are holding them.

At the time the operation was on, the Police were contacted and immediately mobilised to the scene but only succeeded in pursuing them into the boundary between Abia and Rivers states.

The Rivers State Police image-maker, Mrs. Rita Innoma-Abbey confirmed the kidnap when contacted and said that the Rivers Police command is working round the clock in conjunction with the Abia Police Command to ensure the release of the victims unharmed.

In his reaction, Blessing Wikina, the Acting Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, told that “it is very sad an unfortunate that at the time corps members are serving their fatherland they could be kidnapped. The state Government calls on the kidnappers to release them forthwith as they are of no pecuniary value.”

He also called on the police to ensure their release unharmed.”

On 10 August, this year, during a Town Hall Meeting with the people of Omuma Local Government, the governor pledged to pay N1 million on each kidnapper arrested by the villagers to stem the tide of kidnapping in the local government.

As a precautionary measure, P.M.NEWS learnt that the rest Corps members are being evacuated from their lodge by the government.

SUN NEWSPAPER 1ST OCT 2010

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday morning hijacked a school bus conveying 15 pupils of Abayi International School, Osisioma, near Aba to their school and took them to an unknown destination. Daily Sun gathered that the driver of the school bus had gone out that morning to designated points as was the schedule to pick the pupils to school.

On getting to a spot at Ekeakpara, it was learnt that a Toyota Camry saloon car waylaid the school bus and ordered the driver at gunpoint to stop. It was also gathered that as the driver came down, the hoodlums collected his mobile phone set and ordered him to lie face down while they drove off with the pupils towards Etche in Rivers State.

Investigations revealed that most of the kidnapped school children were nursery and primary school pupils.
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N20 million ransom for the release of the kids.

When Daily Sun visited the school located in the outskirts of Aba, teachers and some parents of the abducted kids were seen in groups discussing the fate of the children even as one of them appealed to the abductors to release the children without further delay considering their tender ages.
When contacted, the principal of the school who would not disclose his name for fear of being attacked, although confirmed the incident, refused to give further details.

He said it was only the manager that could speak on the issue. But the manager said the matter was too sensitive to be discussed now. She, however, promised to speak after the release of the children.
Some people who spoke with Daily Sun condemned the high rate of kidnapping in the city.
While calling on the kidnappers to take the ages of the children into consideration and release them immediately, they called on government to do something urgent to arrest the situation.

Abia State Government had last week given kidnappers in the state a two-week ultimatum to surrender their weapons and be rehabilitated by government in an amnesty programme that appeared to mean nothing to some of the hoodlums. Since the ultimatum was issued, no day had passed without a reported case of kidnapping or violent crime in the commercial city.
In another incident, gunmen last Saturday killed two policemen at Umuafor Ukwu in Obingwa Local Government Area (where four journalists and their driver were kidnapped sometime ago). The policemen were said to be on patrol when they ran into the gunmen who opened fire, killing two of them instantly and reportedly burnt their Hilux van.

If u are going on the road in a sunny day and u feel thirsty but no one is there to give u water. surprisingly u see a pool of water in front of u (mirage). Initially, u will think the water is real ,happy wanting to get there in a rush. Disappointingly, the water disappears before u get there! That is how the beautiful world is. The glitz and glamours are fake. No wonder why Haroon Yahya make some sensible submissions in his book title (Idealism Matrix).

After reading the book, I keep on asking myself, what kind of perfectly modelled world are we. He makes us to understand that what u see e.g cars, telephone, what u feel e.g air, and other things sensory organs can detect are not real. Could this be true?!

Islam › Re: Is Courtship Allowed In Islam? by AbuHanifa: 2:27pm On Sep 13, 2010
Courtship in this case is any premarital process that a partner practices in order of getting future partner. The process could either be islamic or non-islamic (what i referred to as western).

"Dating" as it is currently practiced in much of the world does not exist among Muslims. Young Muslim men and women (or boys and girls) do not enter into one-on-one intimate relationships, spending time alone together, "getting to know each other" in a very deep way before deciding whether that's the person they will marry. Rather, in Islam pre-marital relationships of any kind between members of the opposite sex is forbidden.

How do potential spouses meet?
First of all, Muslim youth develop very close friendships with their same-sex peers. This "sisterhood" or "brotherhood" that develops when they are young continues throughout their lives, and serves as a network to become familiar with other families. When a young person decides to get married, the following steps often take place:

* The young person makes du'a for Allah to help him or her find the right person.

* The family enquires, discusses, and suggests candidates from among the network of people that they know. They consult with each other to narrow down potential prospects. Usually the father or mother approaches the other family to suggest a meeting.

* If the young couple and their families agree, the couple meets in a chaperoned, group environment. Umar related that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Not one of you should meet a woman alone unless she is accompanied by a relative (mahram)." The Prophet also reportedly said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman, Satan is the third among them." When young people are getting to know each other, being alone together is a temptation toward wrongdoing. At all times, Muslims should follow the commands of the Qur'an (24:30-31) to "lower their gaze and guard their modesty, " Islam recognizes that we are human and are given to human weakness, so this rule provides safeguards for our own sake.

* If the couple seems compatible, the families may investigate further - talking with friends, family, Islamic leaders, co-workers, etc. to learn about the character of the potential spouse.

In another situation, a friend who is of the same sex (with the person involved) and a muslim may communicate the message to the intending partner. Sometime the man may meet the father of the lady and ask her hand in marriage directly as seen in the case of the Prophet (SAW), Aisha and Abubakr.(Sahih Buhari Vol 7 hadith 18)

A lady on the other said may be the one that initiates the proposal (Sahih Buhari Vol 7 hadith 25)

* Before making a final decision, the couple prays salat-l-istikhara (prayer for guidance) to seek Allah's help and guidance.

* The couple agrees to pursue marriage or part ways. Islam has given this freedom of choice to both young men and women - they cannot be forced into a marriage that they don't want.

This type of focused courtship helps ensure the strength of the marriage, by drawing upon family elders' wisdom and guidance in this important life decision. Family involvement in the choice of a marriage partner helps assure that the choice is based not on romantic notions, but rather on a careful, objective evaluation of the compatibility of the couple. That is why these marriages often prove successful in the long-term.

The above procedure/process may not be the established fact or the exact recommendation from the Prophet (SAW) but could serve as the best alternative to the perversive evil in the society. culled from islam.com with additional references and explanation.

The two prevalent ways of courtship in our society are islamic and western. If it were islamic way, no problem but western, there is a problem. One aware of the rules and regulations of Allah and one abides by them if it were islamic. One goes against these rules does whatever he likes without givin a damn about what Allah and the messenger say. May Allah save us from the path of shaytan. Amin

Islam › Shortening The Prayer During A Journey by AbuHanifa(op): 1:37pm On Sep 02, 2010
The Shari'ah has allowed the traveller to shorten his prayer while on journey, and to offer only two rak'ahs of Fard at a prayer time where one has normally to offer four rak'ahs.

The Qur'an says: " When you go on a journey, there is no harm if you shorten Salat." [Qur'an 4:101]

The holy Prophet has said: "This is a favour of Allah to you, so you should accept His favour gratefully." (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi)

Injunction Concerning Shortening the Prayer

After a person has left his habitation with the intention of proceeding on journey, he should shorten his prayer, otherwise he would be committing a sin. ('Ilm al-Fiqh, Vol. II, p. 130, Durr al-Mukhtar, etc.)

Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar says: "I have travelled in company with the holy Prophet, Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, and have never seen them offering more than two rak'ahs of Fard during a journey." (Bukhari, Muslim)

It should be borne in mind that shortening is allowed only in those prayers were one has normally to offer four rak'ahs of Fard namely Zuhr, Asr and Isha prayers. In the Fajr and Maghrib prayers, no shortening is allowed, and one has to offer two and three rak'ahs of Fard respectively.

Injunction about the Sunnat and Nafl Prayer

The Sunnat rak'ahs of the Fajr prayer should not be abandoned and as far as possible, one should also offer the Sunnat rak'ahs of Maghrib. But as for the Sunnat rak'ahs of the other prayers, one has complete option. One should offer only Fard rak'ahs, when one is actually travelling, but when one has halted at a place during the journey one may offer the Sunnat rak'ahs as well (Durr al-Mukhtar). The Witr prayer, however, being Wajib must be offered in full. No shortening is allowed in the Sunnat or Nafl rak'ahs during the journey. If a person chooses to offer them, he has to offer them in full.

Mileage of the Journey
If a person sets out with the intention of visiting a place that is about 36 miles(1) away from his hometown, he will be considered to be on a journey. This distance can be covered in three days by a person who walks a normal gait and who travels from morning until the sun begins to decline. It does not matter whether a person covers this distance on foot in three days or reaches his destination by a faster mode of conveyance in a few hours, he might shorten his prayer during the journey.

When to Shorten the Prayer

After one has set out on journey, one should continue offering the prayer in full as long as one is inside the habitation. But as soon as one has crossed the outer-most limits of the habitation, one may begin shortening the prayer.

The Period of Qasr

The traveller is allowed to continue shortening the prayer until he returns home. However, if during the journey, he makes up his mind to halt at a place for 15 days or more, he will be regarded as being at home and will have to offer the full prayers no matter whether he has to cut short his stay later due to some reason. On the other hand, if he has the intention of staying for less than 15 days at a place, he will shorten his prayers as if on a journey, and will continue doing so even if he has to prolong his stay for months and has to postpone his departure, due to unforeseen circumstances (provided that he intends to stay for less than 15 days each time).

Miscellaneous Regulations Concerning Qasr

1. If a traveller offers four rak'ahs of Fard by mistake, and has observed the first Qa'dah duly after two rak'ahs, he should perform sajdah sahv. In this case, two of the four rak'ahs will be regarded as Fard and the remaining two as Nafl and the prayer will be in order. However, if he has not observed the first Qa'dah, the four rak'ahs will be counted as Nafl, and he will have to offer the prayer afresh.

2. If a person has an itinerary of staying various numbers of days at different places, i.e. five days here and ten days there, but less than 15 days in each case, he will have to shorten his prayers throughout the journey.

3. If a married woman has started living permanently with her husband, her home will be the home of her husband. Now if she undertakes a journey to visit her parents, who live at least 36 miles away, she will have to shorten prayers at the parents' home. However if she has gone to stay with her husband for a few days and she has the intention of living with her parents most of the time, her home will be the home of her parents.

4. If a woman is travelling with her husband, or a servant with his master, or a boy with his father, or a ward with his guardian, their intention will not be reliable. Even if the woman, or the servant, or the boy makes up his or her mind to stay at a place for more than 15 days, he or she will not be regarded as resident unless it is also the intention of the husband or the master himself.

5. The residence of the place can offer their prayer behind an Imam who is travelling. Such an Imam, however, has to announce after salutation at the completion of two Rak'ahs that he is a traveller so the resident followers may complete their prayer independently.

6. A traveller can offer his prayer behind a resident Imam, though in this case he has to observe the full prayer in obedience to the Imam and is not allowed to shorten it.

7. If a person has not yet made up his mind about the duration of his stay, or has the intention of staying for less than 15 days at a place, but then during the prayer he changes his mind to extend his stay to 15 days or more, he will have to offer the full prayer and will no longer be allowed shorten it.

8. The prayers missed during a journey will have to be shortened when offered later at home, and the prayers missed while at home will have to be offered in full when offered during a journey.

Combining Two Prayers during a Journey

Combining two prayers during the Hajj and offering them together is in accordance with the Sunnah of the holy Prophet. The Zuhr and Asr prayers are combined on the 9th Zul-Hijjah at the plain of 'Arafah, and offered at the Zuhr time with one Azan but two separate Iqamahs.
(2)After sunset the pilgrims leave for Muzdalifah and combine the Maghrib and Isha prayers there. If a person offers his Maghrib prayer on the way to Muzdalifah, his prayer will not be valid and he will have to offer it afresh.

Combining two prayers together except during Hajj is not permissible, though one may combine them apparently by offering one prayer just after the other. One may, for instance, delay a prayer up to its last time limit and offer the other at the beginning of its time limit. In this way, the prayers would apparently seem to have been combined, but actually they are not combined but offered within their own prescribed time limits.(3)

Thank you Jarus, You have done a great job. May Allah reward you. It is always good for one to know the symptoms of jinn attack rather than jumping into conclusions.

Islamically, there are many ways through which one can easily identify someone being possessed by Jinn. On many instances, the rightly-guided alfas consult neurological and psychiatry hospitals for diagnosis even some work hand and hand.

I have witnessed an exorcism before and heard about many from authentic sources. It happened during the life of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) too. One day, the prophet sent Amr bn Yasir to the river. On getting there, Amr met one fat, black man with no hair, trying to prevent him from fetching the water. There ensued a fight! Amr threw him on the floor thrice and the man fled. The Prophet had been shown what happened and told the companions that were with him that your brother Amr met one Jinn at the river and Allah gave him the privilege to defeat the Jinn. On hearing this, Uthman bn Afan got up and ran towards the river. He met Amr on the road and told him what the prophet said. Amr said had I known it was a Jinn, I would have dealt with him more than that.

We have the example of Abu Huraira, Umar bn Khattab encounter with River Nile etc.
ISLAM is LIGHT, ISLAM is POWER.

Ayyatul kursiyy, first 5 verses of suratul baqara, last three verses of baqara, Qur 2 vs 102, Suratul Jinn (Quran 72), Suratul Rahman (Chapter 55), Suratul Najm (Qur 53) etc

These verses are very powerful.

May Allah save us from all the calamities of this world
peace be onto the world
