THE police in Lagos State have arrested an unidentified person, who allegedly planted the explosion that killed one person, injuring another, on Monday, in Lagos. The identity of the suspect has simply been given as Williams and efforts are on to arrest his collaborators The police boss in the state, Umar Manko, confirmed the arrest of one “suspicious person” but insisted that the police are still investigating the incident. The arrested suspect had allegedlly confessed to have been responsible for the explosion, which killed a man identified as Oladele Pius, injuring a police inspector. Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune revealed that Williams was arrested, after the police examined the call log on the mobile phone of the late Oladele Pius. Many of the people, who spoke with the deceased chairman of Sand Dredgers Association in Amuwo Odofin on his recovered phone were subsequently arrested. Preliminary investigations by the police led to the arrests, but one of them reportedly confessed to have committed the crime It was also gathered that the arrested suspect had equally mentioned other collaborators in the explosion that rocked the entire Amuwo Odofin and FESTAC town. Williams had allegedly linked the killing of Oladele to the leadership crisis, that has engulfed the Sand Dredgers Association, even before they relocated to the scene of the incident. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/5746-lagos-explosion-police-arrest-1-suspect |

Devil is definitely living in the church! Songs from different composers. Both good and bad composers. So far the song has jesus in it, they must dance. They are tantamount to automated robots. Bad composers equal to bad songs. All manners of dance. Women shaking both front and backsides vigorously. Brothers eyeing the choir sister that used a so fa note tone to sing. No wonder why some compose nonsense in the name of blabbing in tongues. Listen carefully, jesus didn't sing neither did he instruct married women to shake bomboms. Jesus doesn't need that. You case is like someone worshipping wood. Trust me; satan lives in the church! |

Salam alaik, I am on a research to find out the challenges of Islam in Nigeria. The challenge of Boko Haram is a common knowledge of all but there are some identifiable silent problems that militate against muslims acquiring required knowledge to compete with the other Islamic organizations across the world. 1. Why are the muslims lagging behind in all activities. Why don't we have enough muslims to attain managerial positions in corporate organizations. Why only few? Don't muslims go to school anymore? Where I work as an example, there are only 15 staff and only 2 are muslims. Other muslims are 2 drivers out of 10 drivers in all. 3. Why don't we have vibrant organizations that can compete with other Islamic organizations in the world. The equivalence of our MSSN in Malaysia are making serious progress. Sometimes ago, I personally threw out a vacancy to employ a muslim mechanical engineer in Lagos. After so much effort, I visited an Area Council which I will not mention. Unfortunately, a single Mechanical Engineer graduate we found outrightly showed his unwillingness; reasons best know to him. Should we continue this way? 4. Why dont we have a media of our own. Either online and offline. Is it by the virtue of our non-challant attitude towards education or muslim sisters don't further more after getting married. 5. Why are muslims only concerned with asalatu and not scholarly knowledge especially down the South. Give a muslim locally known alfa 5 minutes talk on air (in English language, you will be amazed with what you will hear. How many muslims are professors? I had a chat with a doctor in media society yesterday. He told me that in the South-West, for more than 50 years, no Muslim professor in media setting could be found. 6. Is it by default that muslim youth dominate garages? In general, what is wrong with the muslims in Nigeria? should Objective answers and solutions will be highly appreciated. However, derailers should stay aloof! It will be appreciate if the MOD can push this to the FRONT PAGE. Ma Salam |

﴿بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴾ EIDUL ADHA AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Introduction By the counting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia corroborated by the Amir-ul-Mumineen of Nigeria, Sultan of Sokoto, today Friday, October 19, 2012 is Yaomul-Jumu’ah, Dhul Hijjah 3, 1433 AH. The implication is that next week Thursday and Friday, will be the Day of Arafat and Eidul Adha respectively. What are the expectations as Muslims? Allah enjoins the Muslims thus: Say: "Truly, my Lord has guided me to a straight path, a right religion, the religion of Ibrahim, Hanifan (monotheism) and he was not of the Mushrikin." Say: "Verily, my Salah, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of all that exists.'' "He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." That they may witness things that are of benefit to them, and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them. Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor having a hard time Then let them complete their prescribed duties and perform their vows, and circumambulate the `Atiq House. Q2:28-29 First Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah The first ten days of Dhulhijjah are among the most magnificent days in Islam. The Holy Prophet (pbuh), has said, “One fast during these days is equal to the fasting of one complete year, and the worship of one night during this period is equal to the worship in the “Lailatul-Qadr” (Tirmidhi). Every Muslim should avail of this wonderful opportunity by performing during this period as much Iba’dah (acts of worship) to Allah as he or she can. Ibn `Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah said: مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أَعْظَمَ عِنْدَ اللهِ وَلَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْعَمَلُ فِيهِنَّ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَيَّامِ الْعَشْرِ فَأَكْثِرُوا فِيهِنَّ مِنَ التَّهْلِيلِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ وَالتَّحْمِيد There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so increase your Tahlil, Takbir, and Tahmid during these days. Application: Al-Bukhari said, "Ibn `Umar and Abu Hurayrah used to go out in the marketplace during the ten days and say Takbir, and the people would say Takbir when they said Takbir.'' These ten days include the day of `Arafah. Yet some rascals engage in bombing and killing. The 9th day of Dhulhijjah The 9th day of Dhulhijjah is called ‘Yaumul Arafah’ (The Day of ‘Arafah). This is the date when the Hujjaj assemble on the plain of ‘Arafat, six miles away from Makkah al-Mukarramah, where they perform the most essential part of the prescribed duties of hajj, namely, the ‘Wuqoof of’ Arafat (the stay in ‘Arafat). The Fast of Yaomul ‘Arafah For those not performing hajj, it is mustahabb (desirable) to fast on this day. The fast of ‘Yaomul ‘Arafah’ has been emphasized by the Holy Prophet (pbuh), as a mustahabb (desirable) act. According to a hadith, the fast of this day becomes a cause, hopefully so, of forgiveness for sins committed in one year (Muslim). Takbir-at-Tashriq Beginning from the Fajr of the 9th Dhulhijjah up to the ‘Asr prayer of the 13th. It is obligatory on each Muslim to recite the Takbir of Tashriq after every fard prayer in the following words. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Wa lillahilhamd. (There is no god but Allah and Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest and to Allah belongs all praise.) According to authentic Islamic sources, it is obligatory on each Muslim, to recite this Takbir after every fard salah. For women also, it is commendable though not obligatory. Whether you are performing salah with Jama’ah (collectively) or on your own (individually) makes no difference. You must recite the Takbir. However, male Muslims should recite it in a loud voice, while females should recite it in a low voice. On the Eid day The following acts are Sunnah on the day of Eidul- Adha: 1. To wake up early in the morning. 2. To clean one’s teeth with a miswak or brush 3. To take a bath. 4. To put on one’s best available clothes. 5. To use perfume. 6. Not to eat before the Eid prayer. 7. To recite the Takbir of Tashriq in a loud voice while going to the Eid prayer. Khutbah: The Address of Eidul-Adha In the salah of Eid, Khutbah is a Sunnah and is delivered after the salah, unlike the salah of Jumu’ah where it is fard and is delivered before the salah. However, listening to the Khutbah of Eid salah is wajib or necessary and must be listened to in perfect peace and silence. Sacrifice or Qurbani: Philosophy and Rules Qurbani (Sacrificial slaughter) is derived from the Arabic word Qurban. Lexically, it means an act performed to seek Allah’s pleasure. In precise religious terminology, the word was later confined to the sacrifice of an animal slaughtered for the sake of Allah. The sacrifice of an animal has always been treated as a recognized form of worship in all religious orders originating from a divine book. In the Shari’ah of our beloved Prophet (pbuh), the sacrifice of an animal has been recognized as a form of worship only during three days of Dhulhijjah, namely, the 10th, 11th and 12th of the month. This is to commemorate the unparalleled sacrifice offered by the Prophet Ibrahim (AS), when he, in pursuance to a command of Allah conveyed to him in a dream, prepared himself to slaughter his beloved son, Isma’il (AS), and actually did so but, Allah Almighty, after testing his submission, sent down a sheep and saved his son from the logical fate of slaughter. It is from that time onwards that the sacrifice of an animal became an obligatory duty to be performed by every well to do Muslim. Qurbani is a demonstration of total submission to Allah and a proof of complete obedience to Allah’s will or command. When a Muslim offers a Qurbani, this is exactly what he intends to prove. Thus, the Qurbani offered by a Muslim signifies that he is a slave of Allah at his best and that he would not hesitate even for a moment, once he receives an absolute command from his Creator, to surrender before it, to obey it willingly, even if it be at the price of his life and possessions. The Time of Qurbani Qurbani can only be performed during the three days of Eid, namely the 10th, 11th and 12th of Dhulhijjah. It is only in these days that slaughtering of an animal is recognized as an act of worship. No Qurbani can be performed in any other days of the year. Although Qurbani is permissible on each of the three aforesaid days, yet it is preferable to perform it on the first day i.e. the 10th of Zhulhijjah. No Qurbani is allowed before the Eid prayer is over. However, in small villages where the Eid prayer is not to be performed, Qurbani can be offered’ any time after the break of dawn on the 10th of Dhulhijjah. Who is Required to Perform Qurbani? Every adult Muslim, male or female, who owns 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent in money, personal ornaments, stock-in-trade or any other form of wealth which is surplus to his basic needs, is under an obligation to offer a Qurbani. Each adult member of a family who owns the above mentioned amount must perform his own Qurbani separately. If the husband owns the required quantity, but the wife does not, the Qurbani is obligatory on the husband only and vice-versa. If both of them have the prescribed amount of wealth, both should perform Qurbani separately. If the adult children live with their parents, Qurbani is obligatory on each one of them possessing the prescribed amount. The Qurbani offered by a husband for himself does not fulfill the obligation of his wife, nor can the Qurbani offered by a father discharge his son or daughter from their obligation. Each one of them should care for his own. However, if a husband or a father, apart from offering his own Qurbani, gives another Qurbani on behalf of his wife or his son, he can do so with their permission. No Alternate for Qurbani Some people think that instead of offering a Qurbani they should give its amount to some poor people as charity. This attitude is totally wrong. Actually, there are different forms of worship obligatory on Muslims. Each one of them has its own importance and none of them can stand for the other. It is not permissible for a Muslim to perform salah instead of fasting in Ramadan, nor is it permissible for him to give some charity instead of observing the obligatory Salah. Similarly, Qurbani is an independent form of worship and this obligation cannot be discharged by spending money in charity. However, if somebody, out of his ignorance or negligence, could not offer Qurbani on the three prescribed days (10th, 11th and 12th Dhulhijjah) then, in that case only, he can give the price of a Qurbani as Sadaqah to those entitled to receive Zakah. But during the days of Qurbani no Sadaqah can discharge the obligation. The Animals of Qurbani The following animals can be slaughtered to offer a Qurbani: 1. Goat, either male or female, of at least one year of age. 2. Sheep, either male or female, of at least six months of age. 3. Cow, ox buffalo of at least two years of age. 4. Camel, male or female, of at least five years of age. One head of goat or sheep is enough only for one person’s Qurbani. But as for all other animals like cow, buffalo or camel, one head of each is equal to seven offerings thus allowing seven persons to offer Qurbani jointly in one such animal. Rules about Defective Animals The following defective animals are not acceptable in Qurbani: 1. Blind, one eyed or lame animal. 2. An animal so emaciated that it cannot walk to its slaughtering place. 3. An animal with one-third part of the ear or the nose or the tail missing. 4. An animal that has no teeth at all, or the major number of its teeth are missing. 5. An animal born without ears. The Sunnah Method of Qurbani It is more preferable for a Muslim to slaughter the animal of his Qurbani with his own hands. However, if he is unable to slaughter the animal himself, or does not want to do so for some reason, he can request another person to slaughter it on his behalf. In this case also, it is more preferable that he, at least, be present at the time of slaughter. However, his absence at the time of slaughter does not render the Qurbani invalid, if he has authorized the person who slaughtered the animal on his behalf. It is a Sunnah to lay the animal with its face towards the Qiblah, and to recite the following verse of the Holy Quran: إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضَ حَنِيفاً وَمَآ أَنَاْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ I, being upright, turn my face towards the One who has created the heavens and the earth, and I am not among those who associate partners with Allah. (Al-An’am, 6:79) But the most essential recitation when slaughtering an animal is: Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. (In the name of Allah, Allah is the greatest). Distribution of the Meat If an animal is sacrificed by more than one person, like cow or camel, its meat should be distributed equally among its owners by weighing the meat strictly and not at random or by mere guess. Even if all the partners agree on its distribution without weighing, it is still not permissible according to shari’ah. Although the person offering a Qurbani can keep all its meat for his own use, yet, it is preferable to distribute one-third among the poor, another one third among his relatives and then, keep the rest for his personal consumption. All parts of the sacrificed animal can be used for personal benefit, but none can be sold, nor can be given to the butcher as a part of his wages |
WHAT IS THIS LIKELY TO MEAN TO THE IRANIANS AND THE GLOBAL BENEFITS? Iran plans to introduce a domestic internet network in what officials say is a bid to improve cyber security but which many Iranians fear is the latest way to control their access to the web. The announcement, made by a government deputy minister on Sunday, came as state television announced Google and its email service would be blocked "within a few hours". The Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) said the Google ban was connected to the anti-Islamic film posted on the company's YouTube site which has caused outrage throughout the Muslim world, however there has been no official confirmation. Iran already has one of the biggest Internet filters of any country in the world, preventing normal Iranians from accessing countless sites on the official grounds they are offensive or criminal. Sites expressing views considered anti-government are also routinely blocked. Iranians commonly overcome the government filter by using virtual private network (VPN) software that makes the computer appear as if it is based in another country. But officials have long spoken of creating an Iranian Internet system which would be largely isolated from the World Wide Web. "In recent days, all governmental agencies and offices have been connected to the national information network," deputy communications and technology minister Ali Hakim-Javadi was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency. The second phase of the plan would be to connect ordinary Iranians to the national network, he said. According to Iranian media, the domestic system would be fully implemented by March 2013 but it was not clear whether access to the global Internet would be cut once the Iranian system is rolled out. According to a comprehensive report released by the International Telecommunications Unions Broadband Commission for Digital Development on Monday only 22 per cent of Iranian homes are connected to the Internet, which means it is ranked 42nd in the world. The report however concluded that only 21 per cent of Iranians have access to the Internet, ranking it 111th in the world, behind countries like Tuvalu and Jordan. |

Question: Should tarawih be made at home or in the mosque with others? Country: United States Answer: The 8th century mujaddid Zain al-Din al-’Iraqi relates the following incident in his work Taqrib al-Asanid wa Tartib al-Masanid, “’Urwah (Allah be pleased with him) relates on the authority of A’ishah (Allah be well pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad went out one night during Ramadan. He offered prayers in the mosque, and some men prayed behind him. On the second night, he again went out and even more people gathered. By the third or forth night, the mosque became so full that it could not accommodate the attendees, but the Prophet Muhammad did not come out. The people began to call him for the prayer, but he did not respond. When morning came, ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be well pleased with him) said to him, “The people remained waiting for you last night.” The Prophet Muhammad replied, “Your presence was not unknown to me, however, I feared that the prayer would become obligatory upon you.” In one narration, Imam Bukhari added, “And when the Prophet Muhammad passed, the situation remained like that.” ‘Iraqi’s son, Wali al-Din, mentioned various fawa’id from the above narration in his commentary of his father’s work Tarh al-Tathrib fi Sharh al-Taqrib, such as: 1) Praying the night prayers of Ramadan congregationally, in a mosque, is best because the Prophet Muhammad performed the prayer in such manner, only leaving it out of fear that it be made obligatory. Al-Shafi’i along with many of his companions held this view. Also, Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Ahmad, and some of the Malikis maintained this position. In his Musannaf, Ibn Abi Shaybah relates that ‘Ali, Ibn Mas’ud, Suwayd bin Ghaflah, and others performed the prayer in this manner. ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab ordered that the prayer be performed and the companions and the rest of the believers continually carried out its performance until it became one of the distinguishing marks of the religion, much like the Eid prayers. 2) Wali al-Din al-‘Iraqi goes on to mention that some ‘ulama considered it better to perform the prayer individually, in one’s home, since the Prophet Muhammad regularly performed it that way, both before and after the above incident and he did this until he passed away. In fact, this practice continued throughout Abu Bakr’s caliphate until the 14th hijri year during ‘Umar’s caliphate. Ibn Abi Shaybah relates that Ibn ‘Umar, his son Salim, Qasim bin Muhammad, ‘Alqamah, and Ibrahim al-Nakha’i did not stand with the people in prayer during Ramadan. Imam Malik, Abu Yusuf and some of the Shafi’is held to this position. Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr relates this position from Imam al-Shafi’i himself. Significantly, Imam Muzani related this qawl, “He (i.e Imam al-Shafi’i) said, “With respect to standing [in prayer] during the month of Ramadan [i.e. tarawih], the prayer of one praying alone is better according to me.” (Mukhtasar al-Muzani pg. 34) Imam al-Mawardi presents two possible interpretations for Imam al-Shafi’i's statement in his monumental work al-Hawi al-Kabir: According to the first interpretation, the supererogatory prayers performed individually, like the two rak’ah before fajr, are more emphasized than standing in prayer during Ramadan i.e. for tarawih. In this interpretation, Imam al-Shafi’is statement is considered to be a comparison between the virtuousness night prayers during Ramadan and other supererogatory prayers. This is the view Imam Abu al-’Abbas bin Surayj. In the second, it is better to perform tarawih individually so long as it does not become neglected. This is the view of many; moreover, it is supported by the hadith related by Zaid bin Thabit that the Prophet Muhammad said, “Pray in your homes. Verily the prayer of a person in his home is more virtuous than in the mosque except for the prescribed prayers.” Mawardi concludes his discussion by stating, “ If the group prayer will be neglected due to one’s absence (by praying individually), then it is better to pray it in a group since such neglect extinguishes a mosque’s nur and causes a documented prophetic practice to be abandoned.” (al-Hawi al-Kabir 2/291) This issue was further addressed by other commentators on Muzani’s abridgement, namely Imam ‘Abd al-Wahid bin Isma’il al-Ruwyani and Imam al-Haramayn. Ruwyani expounds on the issue in Bahr al-Madhhab. There, he attempts to reconcile the conflicting interpretations of al-Shafi’i's words. In Nihayat al-Matlab, Imam al-Haramayn concludes, without given preponderance (ar: tarjih), that there are three opinions. They are: 1) it is better to perform it individually, 2) it is better to perform it in a group, and 3) it is better to perform it alone when one is hafiz and knows that laziness will not prevent him from praying. (See: Nihayat al-Matlab 2/355-56) Imam al-Haramayn’s student, Imam Ghazzali, transmitted the findings of his teacher in al-Wasit. On this issue, early attempts of tarjih were made by authorities such as Abu Ishaq al-Shirazi and Ghazzali; while representative tarjih took place at the hands of Shaykhayn i.e. Imam Rafi’i and Imam al-Nawawi. In both Muharrar and Sharh Kabir, al-Rafi’i gives tarjih to it being recommended that tarawih be performed in a group; and in Majmu’, Rawdah, and Minhaj, Imam Nawawi concurred with his assessment. (See: Muharrar pg. 49; Fath al-’Aziz 2/133; Majmu’ 3/526; Rawdat al-Talibin pg. 149) And Allah knows best. Shafiifiqh.com Fatwa Dept. http://www.shafiifiqh.com/tarawih-in-congregation-or-at-home/ |

From SUQ (Hon my foot) to Ilugunboy, u are all embarrassment to the country called Nigeria. I wonder what pastors teach in church about muslims. I have never been to church for once but from what I read and hear from christians about muslims, I can say pastors teach filthy knowledge about muslims to the gullible followers even if Southern muslims hospitality prove otherwise. Please wise up and use NOD32 to wipe off the "hatevirus" in your brain. As you know "hatevirus" corrupt teachings like love your neighbour... |
All I know about this issue are: 1. Some chapters of the Quran were inside not the full Quranic Chapters. According to a reliable source, Suratul Fatiah was part of it. 2. Some ulamau are on the matter trying to unravel the mysteries of surrounding the event. 3. We muslims need to be patient on the matter and let people research into the matter. We shall all have the feedback when the work is done. Ma Salam |
