ProgrammingRe: Nigerian Linux Distribution: do we need one? by AbujaBoy(m): 3:14pm On Mar 07, 2006
That statment was flawed,
I haven't tried out LFS yet, but distro's like Gentoo were based upon them, my distro shall be an all purpose distro, for all users (execpt for Seun, it'll probably take him awhile to find out that there's no mspaint) , There were plans of making the distro based upon Gentoo, but I'll have to embed portage and emerge. So, I'll just use LFS and make a fairly large repository before releasing to the public, I want this distro to be in lines with Gentoo and Debian, It shall (of course) run the 2.6.xx kernel. It'll come on one CD, and the base WM should be Gnome + Fluxbox. Like Ubuntu, there would be installs for Kde and stuff Seun would like. Whatever the case may be, it'll either be based upon Gentoo or LFS, I don't care which for now, its still in planning stage. If you have any contributions to make (we definitley need more people) send me a PM in yahoo messenger. We need graphical art aswell, so if you're into that, it'll be cool.

"Waits for the kids to finish ranting"
, done? alright.
Well, anjuli, first things first, you were used. You were compromised and used alot like other women from countries that're economically stable. Evidently, your former man had no future plans, and intended to acquire as much funding from you as he could. Nigeria is a nation that (I admit) fails woefully in its attempts to succeed. You shouldn't flaunt around those that're lifeless. Not all Nigerian men, (forgive me, ) are this way, no, but finances, and acquisition of them is ultimate around here. Nigeira is a decent country, and are those that live in it, you should really study the person you intend to place your faith, love and trust in before delving into affairs that'll ruin you.
Be vigilant!

ProgrammingRe: Nigerian Linux Distribution: do we need one? by AbujaBoy(m): 10:54pm On Mar 06, 2006
I'm going to create my own distribution, it's in planning stage currently. I'm doing it with a few matez, wazobia linux is bloated. It's based of FCD4 (ROFLZ) I'll be making mine based off LFS, www.linuxfromscratch.com and it'll have a package management system called "abeg" :p, "eg: abeg wine" = download and install wine from the meld-linux repository.
Creating your own PKGBUILDS would be dead easy aswell, smiley
We'll see how it goes, smiley

Well, I'm 18, I've been using computers since I was 5 and I had similar problems with computer programming and hardware (I still have a bit of hardware issues till date) but if you really want to learn the inz and outz of computers I'd advise you to read certain docs that're related to your issues.

I honestly think that you (Cocoa) should do what you decide to. Nobody knows you or the way you feel about your cousin more than you do, I feel its sorta foolish to come post on these forums about such trivialities. You should sort out your sex life or romantical problems on your own.

I don't know how it happened to be honest, she's a decent, decent girl. I admire her intelligent, beauty, I suppose I went for her, but she kinda played along, as I mentioned, things just weren't meant to be. I don't regret my actions though. I'm much more cynical though.
Do you have any emotional attachement towards your cousin? If you're on yahoo, send me a PM "mull0c" laters.

Well, you should find time to come back to the roots if you can, christmas/easter/summer, whenever. You should try saving up a bit of cash aswell, I'm sure your parents along with yourself would be more than happy to see you back home. These things happen to the best of us. smiley
ProgrammingRe: Is Assembly Language Dead? by AbujaBoy(m): 6:58am On Mar 02, 2006
That is garbled nonsense, ASM is a human-readable notation for the machine language that a specific computer architecture uses. Machine language, a pattern of bits encoding machine operations, is made readable by replacing the raw values with symbols called mnemonics. Ergo, its simply a _lower_ level language, evidently you're trying to class ASM along with scripting languages like javascript and HTML, don't be fooled, learn what you don't know fully, k thx.

I stole as a child, quite alot, and things well over $15,000 were stolen by me. I was from a wealthy home (the abiola family was quite well to do those days) and yet I still stole, I became efficently good at it aswell, its something to do with the mind. When you want more than you have without compromising. Don't enforce the rights and wrongs upon your child, they'll become much more curious. The best you could do is hope, its like drugs, you can't force a child out of drugs, its them, their mind, their body, their spirit. Just hope for the best. smiley Some white birds do turn out a tad grey. I turned out black, tongue

Hm, I've been in a similar case, all of you putting the dude down are fools that're probably insecure about dating someoen that knows that you don't clean your underwear smiley k thx.
Firstly, if he didn't grow up with you, he wouldn't really know you as a sister, or as a cousin.
Secondly, its not incest unless its with your blood brother/sister.
If you really like him, I think you should talk with him, let him know who _you_ are.
FamilyRe: Nigerians In The Diaspora: Please Im Not Rich! by AbujaBoy(m): 3:13am On Mar 02, 2006
People will forever refuse to accept the simple things that we live with, I was born and raised in England now that I'm in Nigeria indefinitley I understand both you and the person begging for cash. You see with the economic laxity of Nigeria, people tend to believe that as long as they're in a country which is favourable, that you'd have some sort of income to _hand_ out, When people used to ask for cash from me (I'm 18 now, do the math) I used to say, I work part time, and I'm a student, I don't work for you, get a job and earn your own living. People that tend to beg, tend to come back and beg for more. Don't give anyone money unless you're really willing to. I'm not trying to be mean, but the message just wouldn't get across unless you let 'em know. -shrug-, Such is life.

RomanceLove Is Bloated. by AbujaBoy(op): 3:07am On Mar 02, 2006
I find love to be bloated, and weak, most nigerian movies are based around love, or juju or something worthless. How is it that most people flaunt around the image of this love scene, when they , barely have "shit" to live for? I mean, how do you entrust your emotions in another person when you're already a person with feelings so inprecise and incomplete that you can barely wake up in the mornings remembering why you wake? Tis sad, sad

Christianity EtcReligion Befuddles The Mind, Its : Mindless. =/ by AbujaBoy(op): 2:52am On Mar 02, 2006
Welcome to Church!

But before you start singing and mumbling prayers, we have some issues for you to think about. That's because, for most people who profess a religious belief, their "faith" is accidental -- a function of time, geography and circumstances. A Christian fundamentalist, had he or she been born three thousand years ago in Egypt, would have probably ended up worshipping the "true" deity or deities in vogue at that time. A contemporary Moslem would have worshipped an Aztec or Mayan pantheon of gods had he or she been living just a few centuries ago in Central America. There have been thousands of different religions worshipping tens of thousands (and even millions) of assorted gods. Most, if not all, have claimed to be "the one true creed." And their disagreements have resulted in war, intolerance, oppression and other violations of human dignity.

Today everywhere, Christianity -- the worship of a god-man known as Jesus -- is the dominant belief among those who profess religion. But did you know that about 10% of Americans consider themselves to be Atheists, doubters, or religious skeptics of some kind? That's over 25,000,000 people. Millions more, the majority of the American population, are branded with the odious label of "unchurched"; they do not attend church, mosque or temple on any regular basis (except perhaps on "holy days" to keep up appearances for friends, relatives and the community), nor do they look to religion for a moral code. Their ethics stem from a secular philosophy of life.

Atheists often know more about the precepts and origins of religious belief than believers themselves do. We study more than just the one accepted "holy book", and we like to read the parts which churches ignore, or conveniently re-write in an effort to render religious text more palpable. Here are just a few items for you to read, contemplate, and even chuckle over.
Go ahead! Read the bible, and the Koran, and the other numerous books which claim to be divinely inspired. Study religious history, and then decide for yourself!
