A small but efficient internet marketing business in Abuja would require the services of a reliable website designer based in Abuja to help design search engine friendly and secure websites. The successful individual or company after being picked could work in partnership with the internet marketing company to design websites for several start up businesses in Abuja and hence the first job is just a stepping stone.

Website Design requirements: The proposed website should have a directory, a blog contact form embedded with social media widgets.

At least 3 years proven experience in website design for companies in Nigeria especially Abuja.

Abuja Airport, UniAbuja, Gwagwalada to experience water disruption for three days- Official - Premium Times - August 22, 2013

There will be no water in parts of Abuja for three days.

The Abuja administration has announced that there will be no water in various parts of the Nigerian capital for three days.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press secretary to the Abuja minister, Muhammad Sule, the disruption in water supply will last from August 23 – 25.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, University of Abuja and Gwagwalada town will be affected, the spokesman said.

Mr. Sule said the disruption will be necessitated by the construction work going on at the Abuja Rail project along that axis to make room for the relocation of a major water trunk line.

The residents dwelling along these axes are advised to store enough water that will last for this period, as normal water supply will be restored by Monday, August 26.

The administration said it regrets any inconveniences this might cause those residing along the axis.

Woman pours hot oil on lover over refusal to marry - Vanguard August 20, 2013

ABUJA — A Karu Senior Magistrates’ court, yesterday, sentenced a 25-year-old woman, Victoria Alonge, to one-year in jail for pouring hot oil on her boyfriend, Roland Nna, over his refusal to marry her.

The Senior Magistrate, Omolola Akindele, summarily sentenced Alonge without an option of fine after the convict admitted to committing the offence in court.

Alonge was arraigned by the police on a one-count charge of causing grievous hurt on Nna, her boyfriend, who lives in Kurudu, Abuja.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Paschal Njoku, had earlier told the court that Nna reported the incident at Kurudu Police Station on August 11.

Njoku said Alonge went to Nna’s house at about 4:30 a.m. on the fateful day and poured hot oil on him while he was asleep, resulting in grievous hurt on his body.

He said she was immediately arrested by the police, based on the report and confession to committing the crime before the police.

Travel / 5 Facts About Living In Abuja by Abujafood: 5:40pm On Aug 07, 2013
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria that shouldn’t be new but what is social life in Abuja really like, that may be somewhat new and interesting to people on first time visit to Abuja. Here are 5 facts you should keep at the back of your mind if you have course to socialize in Abuja;

Evening and Weekends for Social Events

Most social events happen in the evenings on public holidays and weekends. Well that may be easy to understand since Abuja is strictly a government run city. Most macro economic activities depend on government patronage and hence a sizeable portion of the workforce is employed in public service hence partying and socializing happen in the evenings on weekdays or weekends and sometimes public holidays. There’s only one street carnival which happens towards the end of the year around october or November however numerous other events such as business fairs and conferences also hold occasionally.

High cost of living

The cost of living in Abuja is high primarily due to rent costs as land is extremely expensive. In order to recoup their investments landlords charge outrageous amounts as rent and the poor tenants have no choice than to pass on the cost to customers who patronize them. So expect to pay more for clothing, groceries and more as you patronize any of the numerous Supermarkets in Abuja or go out for shopping or even hang out at clubs, bars or eateries in Abuja.

Abuja is Over rated City of prosperity

It may sound a bit unfair to say Abuja is an over rated city but truth be told it really is as you get a sense of just how unreal many residents are with the keeping up with the Jones attitude as very many people try to live a classy lifestyle they can hardly afford. That is also besides the fact that many people living outside the capital city must imagine it to be a place flowing with plenty of cash. Well indeed there’s plenty of money in Abuja but it’s in the hands of a few people and that’s the truth.

Some say Abuja is a Boring City

One of the complains many people have about Abuja is that it’s a boring city where live is so slow. All you have is work, markets, churches and homes and most people live their lives around this four places doing almost the same thing every day. Having fun however is limited to everyone’s experiences as some people actually love to live in Abuja however besides clubs, gardens and parks where else can one socialize and have fun? Eateries, bars and may be hanging out with friends.

Abuja is a City of Plazas and Parks/Gardens

One thing you’d easily notice about Abuja is how so many plazas dot the landscape. Many districts have plazas with many shop and office spaces located within them. Just driving along major roads in town tells the story in pictures if you’re looking for where to shop most times you’re limited to plazas. Another common feature is gardens and parks. Gardens in Abuja happen to be an excellent place to socialize and meet with people but also you’ll find that it’s a place to also enjoy some mouth watering meals especially barbecue.

But the good thing about Abuja is that it is a peaceful and serene city at least as far as the main city is concerned. There’s less crime committed within the city as law enforcement is efficient and the breath taking architectural structures and greenery all over the city is something to behold.

Romance / Re: A Heartless Girl by Abujafood: 2:19pm On Aug 06, 2013
I was in your exact position 9 months ago. Eventually I discovered she was seeing someone else and had gotten tired of our relationship.

I've fully recovered and moved on although she still calls me and sometimes asks why I don't call her like I used to. It annoys me when she tells me she still cares about me.

Personally I think girls like these are wicked and won't think twice about forgetting them for good.

My advice OP move on and like someone wisely put it "you find more girls when you chase money and lose money when you chase girls"

Food / Abuja Cakes: Where To Get Really Tasty Cakes by Abujafood: 6:36pm On Aug 05, 2013
At one time there’s a party or event holding somewhere in Abuja that would require people being served deliciously made cakes whether it’s cupcakes or just regular whole cakes no one really appreciates a cake that tastes like pie or is as tough as buns.

A cake with a soothing feel and appealing taste is not one to forget in a hurry and ask me why because of all things at an event they seem to be what most people won’t forget in a while at least whenever they run into that person that hosted them to that treat.

But not all cakes are made with the satisfaction of the customer at heart. This is especially through of many confectionery and pastry shops in Abuja that consider profit making more important that customer satisfaction. Well a few exceptions exist such as Cupcake Cutie and eetsumore that bake really good cakes.

Popular Cakes in Abuja
Some popular Abuja cakes you’ll likely find include;

Cupcakes
These are Cakes made for almost any occasion except weddings of course. Ideally they make for an excellent after meal snack/dessert or even as an appetizer served to guests.

Birthday Cakes
Birthday cakes as a surprise package can make a very powerful statement for our friends and loved ones at their birthday celebrations what better way to share special moments with them than ordering the right cake for their occasion.

Wedding Cakes
We all know weddings happen all the time and one of the high pointsof a wedding is when the couple along with their supporters step forward to cut the cake. Wedding cakes unlike other cakes must be baked to perfection as the occasion demands nothing but the best.

Custom Made Cakes
It really can be an exciting moment for friends or colleagues to receive specially made cakes in designs they’ll love. For instance if your friend is an Arsenal Fan it may not be a bad idea to get him a cake designed in Arsenal Jersey nor would it be a bad idea to get your pastor a cake in bible make. How about making your kids favorite catoon character cake? All these are specially made custom cakes which you can place your orders for.

Tips on how to find great cakes in Abuja
Now you’re ready to place an order for a cake, what should you do or look out for?

Is the Cake well Made?
What’s the point in ordering for a disappointingly tasteless cake with poor ingredients? Will the cake maker offer you value for money or just add excess sweetening to your cake. Will the cake be made with health concerns for the end user?

How Much is the Cake?
A good cake should at the very least be affordable even if not cheap. If you’re a typical rational consumer you’ll agree that an expensive cake is not worth having.

Can the Cake be made according to your specifications?
When eventually you order for your cake will you feel satisfied with what you got or would it be the case of I’ll make do with whatever comes my way?

Wack or not all the albums from Don jazzy's Mavin solar phlexus, D'prince Frenzy & Tiwa's savage once upon a time can't be compare to DKM in terms of sells & general acceptability.
FYI Don't tell me nonsense was aired several times on 106&park tv in US, please don't be sentiment & be objective its not compulsory to like Dbanj but the dude is more international now than before. File Eja nla is an achiever.

mr man this thread is objective enough for any sensible person whose a good music critic to appraise. It's a question no one is hating D'banj as far as I can see while in Mo'hits he produced hits but not so any more hence the question!
Celebrities / D'banj Hotter Back Then or Now? Your Thoughts! by Abujafood: 2:15pm On Jul 31, 2013
When D'banj was still with Mo'hits he had great singles such as Mo gbono feli feli, Why me, Oliver twist and Mr endowed. Now haven left he's had Oyato and the latest one something that goes like eyin boys.

Has d'banj produced any real hit single since leaving Mo'hits? My Opinion though is that his collaboration with Don Jazzy makes more sense than this his solo runs as he's proving to be such a mediocre artiste.

Who else shares this thought and if you don't please mention one hit single by D'banj since he left Mo'hits!

D'banj Hotter now or back then?
Celebrities / Abujafood Spotlight Personality For July, 2013: Blossom Nnodim by Abujafood: 10:43am On Jul 29, 2013
If you live in Abuja and happen to be social media savvy the name blossom Nnodim should easily ring a bell, why? Because she’s the brain behind the highly influential @blcompere @adoptatweep and @newmedianaija trademarks that have given a new meaning to online interactions here in Abuja and by extension Nigeria.

This young mother of 2 lovely kids is a thought leader in the Nigerian social media space and has to her kitty earned some prestigious recognitions such as being selected to be part of an elite team of 3 from a pool of over 50,000 globally to participate at the Women Deliver Conference in April 2013 - held in Malaysia and was among delegates chosen to monitor the 2012 presidential elections in the United States and learn about their democracy through the International Vistor Leadership Program. She’s also the social media ambassador for Save the Children and project management conference.

She describes herself as “a regular person who puts some extra into the regular” although she’s not a celebrity but by putting the extra into the ordinary she’s able to impact and influence others.

Her journey to becoming an influencer on online social media started less than 5 years ago after she attended a social media bootcamp in Lagos. One particular person that inspired her was Okechukwu Ofili – author of two interesting books; how stupidity saved my life and how laziness saved my life – who sold thousands of copies of his books via twitter. He obviously taught her a few vital lessons about building an audience and selling to that audience and there has been no looking back for her ever since.

Presently she uses her social media platforms especially twitter for social advocacy concentrating heavily on climate change, leadership development, women and children issues. Although she promotes brands for a fee however for NGOs which run projects in line with her social advocacy she promotes them for free.

Although Blossom has a background in Microbiology with an HND she however is more inclined to doing business and she has always been enterprising or as she puts it ‘a hustler’ from her days of schooling at Federal Poly Nekede where she sold clothes and other items to fellow students with her hand-out money which her parents gave her at the beginning of the semester, then wait till a few weeks before exams to buy her textbooks and hand-outs – ofcourse with profit to show for it.

One interesting fact about Blossom is that she admits to discovering her potential to aspire to greatness shortly after expulsion from Federal Government Girls College Owerri for fighting. That was in SS 1 and her Dad empathizing with her transeferred her to a private school were she completed her secondary Education graduating as one of the best in her set with 7 A’s and 2 C’s from being an average student she had transformed into becoming an above average student – somehow hard times can indeed shapen and strengthen a few individuals a reason why circumstances shouldn’t be an excuse to stay down.

Her message to Abuja is “Use less of the plazas and more of the parks for leisure” in her opinion people struggle hard to make a living but are not particularly moved to adequately handle their leisure and we quite agree with her.

It was an honour to have Blossom as our spotlight personality for the Month of July and we wish her all the best in her undertakings.

Properties / Self-contained, 2 Or 3 Bedroom Flats And Apartments For Rent In Abuja by Abujafood: 7:36pm On Jul 23, 2013
In Abuja finding an apartment for rent is not an easy task especially if you are on a budget. To start with not everyone is able to afford the exhorbitant rents charged by Abuja landlords and so typically people would rather opt to reside on the outskirts of the city in satellite towns such as Kubwa, Karu, Nyanya, Lugbe to mention a few.

But with tested hands with the right connections you can actually reach people with flats and Apartments for rent in Abuja. These people are agents who try to match your requirements for an Abuja Apartment or flat with what they have from their pool of vacant apartments.

Types of Abuja Apartments and flats for rent

If you’re looking for an Abuja apartment or flat to rent then your choice must fall into one of these;

Self Contained Flats

These are apartments that come with a toilet/bathroom and kitchen (optional) but a single room and in some cases a parlor to go with it. Price varies from N250k to N600k depending on location and condition of the apartment. Most self contained apartments are buoys quarters of bungalows or duplexes. These kind of apartments are ideal for young single professionals working in Abuja.

2 Bedroom Flats

2 bedroom flats in Abuja usually have a single bathroom with toilet and kitchen plus a living room and two bedrooms usually in blocks of flats or multi storey buildings. A young newly wed would find these kind of flats ideal for them as it offers them the kind of convenience most married couples would love to have. Price ranges from N1 million per year to N3 million depending on location.

3 Bedroom Flats

These are the kings among flats available for rents at least one rarely comes across 4 bedroom flats for rent. For this kind of flat you’ll find they usually have 2 toilets and bathrooms with a kitchen and 2 veranda to go with. This is obviously more spacious and ideal for a nuclear family. Price usuallly starts from N1.5 million to anything near or above N5 million again depending on location.

Tips on searching for Abuja flats for rent

So you now want to rent an Abuja apartment after knowing your budget and where you fit in what should you do when searching for a flat to rent?

Choose a suitable Location

Whether you want a quiet, safe and serene environment or you want one close to your place of work or one not too far from the city center it makes sense to define your preferred suitable location. That’s not always an easy choice considering that often times a quiet serene environment may not have good roads or when there good roads the cost of rent is high. It’s a case of you can’t eat your cake and have it. The most expensive parts of Abuja to rent a flat are; Wuse, Gwarinpa, Mabushi, Utako, Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, Apo and Durumi to mention a few. Flats are cheaper on the outskirts such as; Lugbe, kubwa, Nyanya, karu, kurudu to mention a few.

Get your budget right

Following this guide you should have an idea of how much you should be thinking of when you now want to rent your desired Abuja flat/apartment. Always keep at the back of your mind that you’ll pay for commission/agency fee, legal fees and security deposit/service charge (if your compound is being managed by a realtor).

Set your requirements

It makes sense to know what you want or don’t want in your preferred locations. For instance are there good roads, fenced houses, presence of police posts and active security, markets, good schools, playgrounds, recreational facilities etc. These are some requirements but we all have what we feel or think should be present in our ideal residences what are yours?

Contact the right agent
