Atiku Led PDP Faction Is A Fraud - Femi Falana (SAN)

Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana has described the Kawu Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a “fraud” for allegedly demanding that its members should not be investigated or prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, seven governors and some chieftains of the ruling PDP announced the birth of the splinter group last August 31 in Abuja and appointed Kawu Baraje and Olagunsoye Oyinlola as its national chairman and national secretary, respectively.

Speaking at the inauguralTunji Braithwaite Birthday Symposium in Lagos of Friday, Mr Falana, said ”the New PDP is a fraud because one of the major demands of the group is that their corrupt members must not be investigated or prosecuted by the EFCC or ICPC.”

Mr. Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, alleged that a member of the splinter PDP, who is also a former governor, was being prosecuted for defaulting on a N12 billion loan and discharged by a court with a fine of N2 billion.
According to him, the former governor ”is now claiming that the EFCC is again after him because he is a member of the New PDP, when he went away with N10billion.”

”This is very wrong and all members of the new PDP must be prosecuted no matter what and the media must stop celebrating these people” the fiery lawyer said.

BlackBerry faced secret plot to
switch to Android OS


It has been revealed that BlackBerry came under
an attempted $8bn takeover bid last summer
from a Silicon Valley entrepreneur although the
attempt quite evidently failed.
Entrepreneur and angel investor, Robin Chan,
has revealed his attempt to launch a takeover bid
for the company, which would have seen him
lead a team of investors to run the company,
according to cellular-news.com.
Chan spent three months last year pitching his
takeover bid to potential investors, and also
built up a team of developers who would move
in to head up the R& department.
Key to the bid was a plan to essentially scrap the
BlackBerry hardware and OS, and focus the
company on services, particularly its deep
penetration into corporate email servers.
His plan would have seen the company ditch
most of its work on the BB10 operating system,
and instead release a modified version of an
Android smartphone with BlackBerry 10 features
and its email/BBM services.
In addition, they would have made the
BlackBerry email services easier to deploy onto
iPhone and other Android handsets.
The proposal obviously failed to gain traction,
although he was able to raise commitments of
$1bn towards the takeover bid.
BlackBerry has however, now put itself up for
sale and is seeking a new route out of its current
handset sales.
