A 78-year old man, Moshood Habibu is currently being investigated by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for hacking his 94 years old brother to death over land matter.

Habibu was arrested following a report lodged at Mowe divisional headquarters by the victim’s son Aminu Tajudeen.

According to Tajudeen, who logged the complaints at the station, the suspect came to my father’s house at Kara Ewumi village Mowe, where he matcheted him to death over a disagreement on land matter.


Sequel to the report, the Dpo Mowe division, CSP Saminu Akintunde, quickly mobilized his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased sold a plot from their family land and didn’t give him his own share of the proceeds, and that he went there that morning to demand for his own share which led to hot argument between them.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson Ogun state police command DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect went to the deceased house armed with cutlass, and when he got there, the deceased who was visually impaired didn’t know he came with cutlass. While the deceased was asking him to leave his house, he descended heavily on him and matcheted him to death.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

Gunmen suspected to be hired kidnappers have allegedly kidnapped the Eze Ndigbo of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Chief Donatus Okereke.

He was abducted at the Junction of a Quarry company in Elegbeka, a suburb of the town.
The area was the same place where a first class traditional ruler, the Olufon of lfon, Oba Isreal Adewusi was murdered by suspected kidnappers in November last year.

The victim was reportedly marched into the thick forest by the heavily armed kidnappers.
Secretary to the Regent of Ifon, Olaniyi Eni Olotu confirmed the abduction of the Igbo leader.

Mr. Olotu said the kidnappers took the Igbo Chief through the bush path into the forest.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Funmi Odunlami also confirmed the abduction of the businessman and Igbo leader.

She added that the police have mobilized operatives to search for the victim.

The medical students of the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka in their clinical classes, today embarked on a very peaceful protest inside their Enugu Campus.

It was due to some issues they have endured and managed for a very long time.

In their hostel located inside the old University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, the clinical medical students claim to not have had light in the past 2months, they do not have access to the WiFi network that they pay for every year, they claim also not have any source of water in their hostel whereas their fellow students in other departments have always been provided with all of these, which they all pay equally for.
