I'm currently in Abakaliki, and I've been coming here on and off of late. Just haven't figured the town out yet. Are there any of you lively Nairalanders in this town to make it worthwhile? |
? |
IamJix:Why do you think so? Talking from experience? Are results measurable or comparable? |
If you're running a service business, let's say something like business plan writing, which advertising platform is likely to get you more visits to your site and fetch more customers - Nairaland or Facebook? Which is more cost effective for a limited advertising budget of, say N20k? Guys who have used both platforms extensively to advertise their services, could you please share your insights and experiences. |
Is it likely that they would issue appointment letters to people who didn't even apply online this time around, as is usually the case? |
yesloaded:I replied your email. |
Thanks guys, I'll check and be in touch ASAP. But meanwhile, is there a compelling reason why you guys prefer wordpress to blogger? Any comparative benefits, especially in terms of monetisation/income? I'll also need to know my best options for marketing/advertising the blog when it's up, as perhaps majority of my budget would go to advertising. |
yesloaded:Sounds great, thanks a lot. Can you give me any ideas on how to go about this? Who would you recommend me to hire to build this kind of excellent blog you're talking about? Which platform offers opportunities for greater monetisation/regular income - wordpress or blogger? I'm not interested in the now bastardised celebrity gist/entertainment/hard politics news niches. I prefer a more commercial, targeted, and easily monetisable niche with room for crafting a business model that facilitates passive/residual income. Any ideas? Would be really grateful, and might even offer you a token as consultancy fee if it all goes well. |

No need to worry about receiving their text message or not. Just open the Nexia website provided by the OP, input your email address and select the NYSC vacancy option, and keep trying until your aptitute test invitation details pop up. . . .and then print it. Simple. Best of luck peeps. |

Are you are that SLOT sells the Galaxy S3 for 67k? I checked it there yesterday. How come your own is more expensive? |
What is the name of the product (manufacturer) so that we can be sure. Not all these China products that will last for only one month and pafuka. |
I want to swap my Nokia E7 for a fairly used but clean Samsung Galaxy SIII. The Nokia is clean and in good condition, with the new carton still available, and with full accessories (original carger, USB on the go cable, and HDMI cable). So how is it gonna be with the Samsung SIII? |
Look for a SLOT office and buy the Acer Aspire One D270. I bought mine a few days ago. This monster's battery lasts a whopping 8 hours (when typing or working with microsoft office, adobe, etc), or at least 6 hours when surfing the internet, playing videos, etc. It has a 2gig RAM, and 350g hard disk, with a nice keyboard layout, bluetooth, webcam, HDMI, etc. I'm so glad I bought it cos it's perfect for my business. Try it. You would be glad you did. Only N47k, brand new with 1 year warranty. |
bidexolags: Officially zenith bank now pay 70k/monthly to (bsc) entry staff be it teller or customer service. The policy was changed 3month back to take new staff on as contract staff wich imply 38k less dan d previous 108k monthly pay. Worst of all new entries now have zero benefits with contract terminating after 2years. I served with d bank en I got to know all dis at point of been retained. So am giving u guys a non doctored update on zenith bank pay for entry. Quite shameful rly, knowing d same bank declared 42% increase in profitability dis year. This is more like the real info. I would have been amazed if Zenith bank still pays as much as N100k to entry level staff, worst of all tellers. Some banks pay tellers around N40-N50k, and it's not as if those ones are less competent than the tellers in Zenith. If you know how many people apply to these banks daily, and are even willing to accept N30k/month, you would understand why Zenith can't be such a father christmas by paying N100k. N100k is a huge entry level salary in these days of extreme unemployyment, for real. |
tunapawizzy: PRESIDENCY GO PICK 300, SENATE 150, HOUSE OF REPS 50, PDP NATIONAL SECRETARIAT GET 50, FRIENDS AND FAMILIES OF INEC TOP STAFFS GET 100;WITH DT USELESS FEDERAL CHARACTER THING THE REMAINING 850 GO TURN 850/36 WHICH IS ABOUT 23 PER STATE, FOR THAT 23 UR GOVERNOR GET 10, ROYAL FATHERS IN YOUR STATE GO SHARE 8, STATE RULING PARTY CHAIRMAN GET 3, THE REMAINING 2 UNA MASSES GO KILL UNASEF ONTOP AMHa ha. Funny as it sounds, you are not far from the truth. This is Nigeria for you. |
The figure is even lower than I expected. The unemployment in Nigeria is beyond what can be estimated. Most people that you think are employed are even worse than unemployed people because their salaries are only enough for transportation and one meal a day. Such people would also apply for these jobs. Everybody wants a federal government job because it is the most secure |
And what inconveniences have d governor himself or the honorable members in the state assembly volunteered to endure? Or is it only ordinary Lagosians that know how to endure hardship? Some of the comments here are surprising and funny dou. I think car owners, nigerians abroad, and other privileged people have no right to comment on this issue. Let only ordinary poor lagosians comment, but then most of them do not have regular access to internet, talkless of nairaland, so we would never hear thier painful experience here. It would be interesting to know how many people who go to work everyday by walking several kilometers under the sun and rain, standing shamefully at crowded bus stops for several hours actually support this policy. It is only their opinions that matter because they are the ones that feel it most. Those of us who own cars or live abroad or whatever should just keep our arrogance to ourselves and stay out of it. |
Most posters here are quite funny. They are calling for the arrest of all the villages and some are even calling for cultists to revenge on behalf of students. In oda words, you people are calling for mob action against the mob that killed the students. Are you not missing something here? Let's say most of you are outraged by the actions of the villagers, and you want them to face justice by any means. Have you not paused to wonder that maybe this was the same feeling the villagers had against cult students that may have been terrorising them in the past? So they happened to catch these four students and then unleashed their anger and frustration on them? The point is that we should tackle the issue from the root. Yes we are outraged by the villagers action and we want to skin them alive for being so wicked to the students. But then so also did the villagers feel outraged by student cultists and robbers who were terrorising them and so decided to skin some alife when the opportunity presented itself. Ok, maybe the murdered students are actually innocent, but the villagers thought otherwise and lynched them. What says that if we arrest or lynch the villagers too, that we might not end up arresting or lynching innocent villagers who did not participate in the mob action? Of course we know the entire village cannot all participate in the killing. Infact, the picture of the villager posted here, what if the proof that he participated in killing the students? A large number of mob are always just onlookers. How do we know which is which? If you say you don't care, then why did you expect the billagers to care if the murdered students were innocent or not? All dis things are the same principle. On d oda hand, if the students were guilty, and the villagers lynched them for that, most of us here are saying they had no right to do so even if the boys were really robbers. If so, do we have the right to lynch the villagers for lynching the students. Two wrongs don't make a right i guess. So where do we start to select which wrong is wrong and which wrong is right? The point is that we need to tackle issues like this from the root in an objective way, and stop being selective or hypocritical. All the comments here calling for the head of the villagers is the same kind of principle that made the villagers call for the head of the students in the first place. Lets face facts. |
IS there any retailer here that has this Asus mini laptop model? I need to purchase it urgently. It has everything I need in a netbook, especially the amazing 13 hours battery life. |
3 hours for a netbook is a joke, sorry. Extremely long battery life (7-8 hours) is the only reason why I need a netbook for my writing work anyway. I already have a regular laptop that lasts 3 hours plus. Later. |
What is the exact model? HP what? I need to Google it myself to be sure. Then, what is the battery life like? I need a mini laptop/netbook with battery life of at least 7 hours. Let me know. |
My brothers, this all sounds very interesting. But please, can you guys give a clue about the kind of services (or goods) you sell on your websites - especially those that sell to foreign markets. In the case of the Voguepay you guys are talking about, I think a limit of 3k per transaction is rather small - depending on what one sells. Anyway, more info would be appreciated. |
bLacK GoLd: One of the problems with nairaland...people just talk stuff they don't have a clue of!!!...So what is your point? If you work for the useless company called glo, that is your problem. Since you have a better "clue", why not tell us rather than making no point at all. I'm talking about an annoying problem I'm facing with only glo, and you're here saying rubbish. |
zaibatsu: Utter rubbish! When will Glo get serious about offering world class services? Over 20 million subscribers, yet no backup plan in case of fibre issues. And they expect to be taken seriously? Sad....That is exactly the point. No back up plan, no anticipation of problems, no professionalism. Nothing. All they do is waste money on propaganda, false advertising, and useles "glo ambassadors" that serve no useful purpose to anyone at all. I think this is peculiar Nigerian problem, we just don't know how to apply best practices in managing big companies. It's pathetic. |
I have no doubt now that glo's servers are infected with viruses, and the blackout has to do with the DNS Changer thing, forget the claims about a cut in the glo 1 fibre cable or whatever. Maybe they re too ashamed to admit the truth. There's an issue I have been facing with glo's internet for a very long time: when I try to open some sites (e.g. Google Scholar), it often doesn't open because it says "uusual traffic from your computer network" or |your network is sending too many automated queries" - whatever that means. Sometimes it displays that annoying CAPTCHA message, and i have to type the displayed squiggly word to gain access to ordinary google search. This hasn't happened with my MTN internet network. I can't believe glo can make such an elementary mistake, what are its engineers and so-called professionals paid to do? Seriously, I don't know why Nigerians cannot run a big company professionally. An entire internet service collapsing totally like that for a major national network? I doubt that can happen with MTN or Etisalat. Very very useless netwrk, if Nigeria was a sane country, glo would have been run down with hefty lawsuits and penalties. |
luluosas: This is an sms Glo sent me this afternoon. Can you imagine. I didnt get any such text message from them oh. I even tried calling their 3G customer care line (444) and the regular customer care (121), they did not bother to answer the calls at all. It is definitely a glo problem, as my reserve mtn line is working well both on my computer and on the phone. I believe it must have something to do with the DNS Changer thing, since the timing is too suspicious. Glo really has much to learn, it is very frustrating. |
Excelboi: Op, same with mine. Unable to do anytin on my BB since morning as it refuse to show the service book. Am sure its general. What area are you? I'm on the mainland, around Alausa. MTN and other networks seem to be working fine. Why must it be glo all the time? I'm just fed up with this useless network. |
