OkukuOne: so wrong
We should always ignore when we are not sure. Pls!
i have suffered a setback during my application because of wrong info shared here. Let's help one another with apt knowledge and not guess work or hearsay. I believe this is the purpose of this group.
One love pals! Yes, It's better to be silent than give a wrong info. I might have actually answered the questionnaire wrongly. Guess i will just upload the upfront medical results via webform for the kids. and also still attach it to the spouse's result. Cos i'm not sure there's much option for me. |

sudo1986: Asking for a friend:
She was asked for a medical after one week of submitting the biometric. She submitted the upfront medical through a webform and it changed to passed today. She said her eligibility status says "we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements"
Please, what is the chance of her getting the study permit? She wanted to know if she should apply for accommodation at her university. Her university has a community that if she wants to get apartment there, she must apply before Monday.
What is her chance please.
Thanks all. Her chance is very good, almost 100%. |

Hello Gurus,
Please is it normal not to see where to upload medicals for minors in the application for SOWP for spouse and kids? I only saw for the Spouse but nothing for the minors. Although we have not done upfront medicals. |

Eje18: Hello house. Please I have a question to ask. My sister’s family SOWP was refused on the fact that her school is not eligible for SOWP because it’s a private school. Although the school is a DLI so they thought all DLI are eligible for SOWP. Now can she put in for visit visa for them to come visit her. Although the husband isn’t planning to stay because of his job back home. But the kids are the most important. . Please do you advise she put in the visit visa. So her kids can comein to visit her. They will have to confirm if their program is upto 8 months without break? If it is? they can get a confirmation from the school stating that it's a full time program. Then re-launch! I don't want to believe it is because it is a private school. So long as it is a DLI and more than 8 Months full time. I think they qualify. Also, it appears some courses do not qualify or even though the institution is a DLI. Let them just clarify with the school and refire. My thoughts though...The gurus can assist too. |

ATTAHDYE: All commercial banks in Nigeria are on MBS except Standard Chartered.
There is nothing wrong with Union Bank SOA, you can use them like any other bank account and get results based on the combined strength of your application.
I have had several clients who have use UBN accounts successfully. Thank you for your responses guys. CC @Canadaqueen and @tenderjunkie |

tenderjunkie: Use the copy generated by your bank app or ask them to send you a digital copy.
Be sure to unlock it using tools like small pdf for easy access Please, will a digital copy Statement of Account from the App contain the bank's stamps? Because i am not sure IRCC will look at it if its not stamped. Ordinarily, other banks will just generate an MBS code for you which you will send in your application, but I am not sure Union Bank has that facility. That is my dilemma. Please has anyone used Union Bank SOA as POF before? How did you guys do it?? |

Please has anyone done MBS through Union Bank before? Word is they don't do it and will only print physical statement of Account.

OkukuOne: There is absolutely nothing wrong in moving cash from business account to personal account. The ONLY reason i mentioned it, is to avoid telling too many stories. I don't know which story will be impressive. If you know and feel you can tell a good story, why not? go ahead!
I will strongly advise you use your Company documentation as a home tie. Money in the company's account can remain there as far as you do not declare it as part of your POF. The West does not see business as a place where you go and take money for other things, they see it as a long time investment.
However, all i have written here is/are my own thought(s) and not cast in stone but self-study and analysis. You can choose your own path.
All the best and Good luck! Thank you my brother, for your wise thoughts! |

technix: 1. Yes, especially if you didn't emphasize much on using her as home ties. Even if you did, I think the pregnancy can allow you tell a compelling story. Also, try avoid emotional stories like you have started missing her within a month.
2. Well, you should be able to get her an insurance or add her as a dependant to your school's insurance if possible. It may also depend on how old the pregnancy would be when she arrives.
3. Yes. The visa on her passport can allow her go back and forth. Please is there any reason why "one should avoid these emotional stories"? what other reason is there to give please? na wa o |
Travel › Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Accessed: 2:23am On Apr 23, 2023 |
OkukuOne: Minimum would be:
1. Spouse = $5,000CAD (this includes miscellaneous for him alone) 2. Kids = $3,000CAD x 3 = $9,000CAD 3. Depending who is the sponsor. This you need to identify and treat with care. 4. General miscellonous should be in the window of another = $2 - 3,000CAD.
You can start transferring money from business another through other means to the spouse account. You can show buiness registration as part of home tie but not the proceed as part of POF.
Hope this helps.
Good luck! Thank you for your response. However, i have a quick ask. Is there anything wrong with moving some fund from one's business directly to his personal account for this purpose? I can clearly explain that the reason i am running the business in the first place is to make money and fund such moves. Please why do you think it is unwise to do that. The remaining balance in the account could still aid in using it as tie. Please what do you guys think? |

Hello Gurus,
Please what is the minimum account balance you advise for an SOWP with 3 kids bearing in mind the 4K and 3k for spouse and kids' living expenses respectively.
I dont know if 7.5 Million which is about CAD 21K will cut it? What is the least amount you will recommend?
Can this be further supported with a N5M balance in the business account belonging to the couple. which they intend to use as one of the ties? The spouse is already in Canada studying. |

tarmmey: Hello guys please i need help My second application has just been refused based on financial situation. My first application was refused for the same reason. And the gcms said there was no proof of relationship between me and my uncle. In this second application I attached my mothers birth certificate and a family picture then a picture of my mom and my uncle when he was still in Nigeria. I paid one year school fees since my first application. In the second application i made my uncle transfer 10k cad to my account and also made my dad transfer 4million naira to my account and backed it up with deed of gift. My uncle also has 30k cad in his account
Is there any new thing i can do to make my next application strong enough?
Note my course is a two year course. Sorry about the refusal. You may need to get the GCMS notes to know the actual cause. The POF appears okay, maybe there were lumpsums that were not explained in the account. I like that you are ready to fire again. I will just advise that you get your notes so you can tackle the issues frontally. |

nowornever9: when does your old passport expire? if it expires after your planned travel date then submit that one for visa stamping. collect your new one from ikoyi before you travel and carry both with you to travel. Take the IRCC letter to the passport office and request to see the PCO. Plead with them and they will fast track it for you. I had a similar situation and that was what saved me. However, mine was another Passport office not Ikoyi. |

Please for SOWP application, do we still need to resubmit all those properties and evidences we presented during the application for study permit? and do we need to include the expense for the students i.e living expense of the student in Canada in analysing the POF?
I shall appreciate your contributions sirs/ma. |

Since I wrote on my LOI that we will be returning back home after my spouse is through with studies, is it a MUST or an idea to buy return ticket or one way will be fine?
Please, I will need a guide on this.
Make person plan well with the little cahs when de hand. He get why!
I will greatly apprciate feedbacks. Well, I dont think it matters, because indeed there could be reasons why you may not book return now. You may even have reasons to travel home briefly before the end of the programme. I am also not sure you can get return dates in excess of 1 year. so i dont think it will matter. My Opinion though...the gurus can weigh in too. |

OkukuOne: Business is treated as a diffrent entity. You also should treat it in same way. Move all cash to her account.
Your 12k CAD is good. Just try do the calculation of what you need as per each person to be able to stay in Canada as stated by IRCC.
Good luck! So moving the funds to her account won't be seen as a lump sum? I was thinking we should just leave it in the business account and state that 50% of the fund will be used to support the fund. Please what do you advise?? |

Welldone gurus for keeping the flame on here!
Please i intend applying for SOWP and VV for my wife and kids. The issue is that she has just about 2M in her personal account and about 8M in her business account which we both run as co signatories. Please do we have to move the funds to her personal account before she can use it as POF or can it still remain in that business account. Note that the bank reference will show that the both of us are the only signatories in the account. I have not started working in Canada yet but have about CAD 12K in my account and also due to apply for 25% of my pension which will give me about N4M. Will these be sufficient for POFs for my wife and 3 kids?
Please i need your urgent responses.? |
