Did you see the part where I typed that even at maximum brightness it's still difficult to see? Check unboxing videos on YouTube. The unboxers have complained about the same thing. I think I do sort of understand the concept of automatic brightness fairly enough, I wouldn't be using it if I didn't.

maximum brightness is about 450 nits, flagship phones from Samsung n co reaches about 800 nits in auto brightness when in sun. If you don use flagships b4, its quite obvious that the screen isn't that bright in sunlight. But for 200$ its good enough grin

I took a selfie picture on my mi max 2 using both stock camera and gcam. The gcam pix was so clear that it had too much shiny detail. Even the hairs on my face were appearing shiny.

Although it came out clearer than stock camera, I actually preferred the pix from the stock camera because it looked more real life. If I look in real life like what the gcam shows, I go dey even fear myself.

, that's because it captures many pictures together at a time and fuse them together, u can reduce the hdr+ effect though. But stock just doesn't have details like gcam, even with hdr enabled on stock e no still reach

Believe it or not, most selfie lovers I have met prefer the stock front facing camera app to that of Gcam because they hate details , everybody one fine by force. Dem go ask u wetin b d use of front camera if e nr fit make person fine, so the haters of beauty mode dey small compared to lovers (which mostly are ladies).

for real? I. Can't even stand the selfie camera, the beauty mode ia trash, makes the picture b like oil painting. cheesy

i believe gcam is more stable on rn4 than rn5 self.

But the feeling here for some days now is that miui camera is unusable, lol

i know that feeling, it happened to me once, the miui camera just surpassed gcam with the same picture n environment settings, after that miui camera na mostly hit or miss, more miss actually. But with gcam i know more than 90% of the time the pictures will be lit

i just want to root the phone , thats all but i dont want to make any mistake to avoid soft /hard brick. Thank you very much.

if you are able to boot twrp, copy the recovery.img file to ur internal storage (mtp works in twrp) click on install, change to install image, it will allow you to see the recovery.img file in ur internal storage then install it, twrp will ask u which type of image, choose recovery. After installing it, install magisk n lazy flasher you now have root

I use fastboot method, it didn't take my phone to fastboot either or shut it down to fastboot mode. So, fastboot too didn't work.

Enter fastboot by pressing vol n power down then type
fastboot boot recovery.img
Don't forget lazy flasher if u still want to stay on miui

Update: checked the link, that's exactly what I did. But not insatlling the image. I changed the name to record.img , same thing. Saying something like error, can't install image. So that's where I was stocked and started looking for what might have caused it, until I saw many videos , saying OEM has to be unlocked , even though the bootloader is unlocked.

skip the flash part use boot instead. It will be fastboot boot recovery.img if it boots, flash twrp as zip or image from twrp install menu

I will do it again and give you feedback bro. The bootloader came unlocked , and I have been getting updates too and install without issues. But it is strange that OEM grey out, and I needed it to install twrp and root, but it never happened upon multiple trial. I read somewhere that alternative way to do that is to relock, enable OEM, then unlock again Which I don't know to do again because I don't want it bricked. I just don't know what to do. But I know there is a solution.

try using fastboot boot command instead of flash to see if you can boot twrp. If boot is possible, u can then flash twrp from twrp.
