Politics / This Aptly Applies To Our Senators In Nigeria by Acelifted: 6:39pm On Apr 04, 2017
This should be applied to our " sin-nators" at the National Assembly ...

------------------------///

Oliver Cromwell - Dissolution of the Long Parliament 1653
Dissolution of the Long Parliament by Oliver Cromwell given to the House of Commons, 20 April 1653.

Speech

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!

Car Talk / Re: Best Oil To Use For A V6 Engine by Acelifted: 12:21pm On Dec 18, 2016
The recommended oil for your car should be 5w20 or 5w30, you should have jejely continued with your Toyota, as Nissan doesn't like an iota of abuse or neglect, it can disappoint you if you disappoint it.
I also hope the Nissan pathfinder isn't the 2001 upwards, the 3.5L V6, it comes with timing chain and using a useless oil reduces the timing chain strength. You don't want a timing chain job done on your vehicle especially by a quack mechanic.

I had to change the car for obvious reasons.
No it isn't a 2001 upwards. Its a 98 model. read of issues in www.carcomplaints.com.

Tnx

Bros, which thermometer u take compare the two

I Use the thermometer on the dashboards and of course the heat oozing out of the engine when just parked. The toyota camry thermometer hardly gets halfway. but that of the pathfinder (V6) always gets halfway. I was concerned at first. Got the radiator checked and cleaned, fans checked, even though i was told that if it doesn't exceed halfway, it is OK. Am just concerned about using the right engine oil for the car.

Flee from the 20w50 oils

Why please? What is your candid recommendation?
Car Talk / Best Oil To Use For A V6 Engine by Acelifted: 10:23pm On Dec 16, 2016
I recently changed my car from a big daddy Toyota Camry (V4) to a Nissan Pathfinder (V6). one thing I noticed that is that the engine of the Nissan Pathfinder (V6) tend to be hotter than that of the Toyota Camry (4-plug). However my concern is that my mechanic is still using the same engine oil (Visco 2000) he was using for my former car (Toyota Camry 4-plug) for the new Pathfinder V6. I want to ask the experts in the house, what engine oil is best for a V6 Engine in Nigeria's hot climatic conditions?

Thank you.

Autos / Toyota Camry 2002 (big Daddy) For Swap OR Outright Sale (N720,000) by Acelifted: 3:35pm On Sep 05, 2016
Hi car dealers,

Due to personal challenges (fallout of the times in Nigeria), I am putting my car, a Toyota Camry 2002 (Big Daddy) up for swap with a Nissan Xterra (2001 & above) or Pathfinder (2000 & above) or any make similar to either of these. In addition to the car am swaping with, I hope to get a minimum of just 180,000 from the swap in order to attend to personal issues.

OUTRIGHT SALE: N720,000

My car (Toyota Camry 2002) is in great condition. The only known issue is slightly cracked windscreen which was as result of a scuffle at the filling station during the fuel scarcity era.
I am pleading that whoever is willing to help with the swap be "compassion" driven not just profit. I am under pressure to raise funds and yet provide mobility for family & biz.

I am based in Ibadan.

Kindly find attached pictures of the Toyota Camry 2002 (Big Daddy) Thank you.

Family / Which ONE Of These Diapers Is The Best In Absorbency And Fitting? by Acelifted: 2:01pm On Aug 10, 2016
According to Baby Gear Lab, Absorbency and fitting are the most important trait of any diaper, disposable or cloth. Absorption covers how much liquid a diaper can hold, how well that liquid wicks away from baby and distributes throughout the diaper’s core, and how well it continues to hold that moisture away from baby’s skin, while fit ensures that a leak-free experience for both mother and baby.

What the votes are saying is below. To contribute to the polls, simply visit the link below and vote. This will help new mothers and of course, fathers grin.

Phones / 4 Key Points To Consider When Buying A Smartphone by Acelifted: 6:37pm On Jul 21, 2016
1. The Internal Memory

When I got my first Android smartphone, I made the big mistake of not attaching enough importance to the size of the Internal memory. That phone has an internal memory of 1 GB with 70% of it already containing pre-installed applications which cannot be uninstalled by default. Once I connected to the internet, some of these apps notified me of available updates. I happily decided to update all but to my utter dismay, the internal memory was completely maxed out. Some updates even failed due to lack of space and I could not even install any other additional app of my own.

At the end I had to reverse the updates in order to have space to install just a few of my own apps. This problem persists even after buying a memory card because every app still requires a little space from the internal memory even when it is possible to install that app on the external memory. Sadly, I knew right then that I will not be using the phone for a long time.

I will recommend going for nothing less than 2GB internal memory with at least 75% of it free after all the pre-installed apps. Many low-end smartphones are guilty of this flaw.

2. The Screen

Well, this is another reason many visit smartphone “engineers”. Seems it is inevitable we have to all drop our phone at a point in time. The only thing to probably hope for is that when it does happen eventually, it will drop on our cushion, pillow or bed and not on the office or church marble floor.

I read somewhere that the industry and many smartphone users now prefer those screens that feel and look like glass because they have a clear surface, can be easily cleaned of smears and fingerprints and are quite resistant to scratch. Well! Be careful when that is your only attraction because the more “glassy” they look, the more easily they break.

My oldest smartphone that has survived many falls has a plastic-like screen. It recently got cracked but it was a small crack with no further messy black ink damage. I guess what I am simply trying to say is that if you are used to dropping things, go for those screens that feels less like “glass”. Their “breaking” can be messy and fatal, except if you can get a good screen protector for them.

3. Fixed or Removable Battery

Well, I have heard some experts said that fixed batteries are stronger, more durable and last longer than removable batteries. The problem is when your smartphone suffers a problem (e.g. hanging or freezing) that a simple battery pull would possibly resolved. You have to start thinking of a visit to an approved customer service technician which may or may not be close to you.

This is because if you rush the phone to some of our freelance “smartphone engineers” in a quick-fix move and they open up the phone and something goes wrong, taking it back to a manufacturer approved technician would become an issue as they may charge you some outrageous fee because you have purportedly “voided” the warranty on the phone since you gave it to an unapproved person to open.

4 Availability and Proximity to Manufacturer-approved Technicians

I do not need to give any more detail on this as I touched on it in the last section. You will lose motivation to repair some phones once you realize the risk and the effort it may take to fix even simple issues that may arise with the phones. You can imagine being asked to repair a phone for half of the price you bought it because it is no longer under warranty.

When you buy a smartphone and the manufacturer’s customer service center is hundreds of kilometer away, you will lose days, weeks and maybe months getting the manufacturer to fix any problems the phone may develop and may be forced to turn to our popular “engineers”.

So people, when next you are considering buying a smartphone, you may want to consider these 4 points and weight their pros and cons before making a choice on whether to buy or not. If you have other points based on experience, please feel free to share.

Family / When Young People Insult Their Elders by Acelifted: 3:55pm On Apr 18, 2016
“I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.”
– Albert Einstein

I have been on Facebook since 2009, and I can bet that being on social media is a highly rewarding enterprise. The sheer volume of information available on social media, the ease of movement of ideas and the huge traffic of cultured and well-mannered people that we connect with every day on the platform present the enriching side of social media. Social media can also be a huge asset for mobilising people around a worthy cause. Many people still remember the monumental impact of social media in the success of the Arab Spring of 2011. People promoting philanthropic causes today also find social media a blessing in their outreach to millions of people.

But there is another side of social media. Much of social media today is a breeding ground for the dissemination of lies, bad news, scams, pornography and all sorts of obscenities. Some people have read breaking news of their own obituaries on social media when they are still alive. On Facebook, amateurish comedians and wannabe cartoonists have turned humour into a social art for hurting people’s religious sentiments and provoking ethnic prejudices, thereby fanning the embers of hate, bitterness and resentment. Anyone who wishes to retain a vestige of moral sanity will certainly find it an uphill task to safely navigate the murky waters of social media today without being contaminated by the decay of language that has polluted our public vocabulary.

However, the most disturbing aspect of the situation is that many young people today have turned socio-political activism on social media into an art for insulting their elders and for making caricatures of political, religious and traditional leaders. Many years ago, Chinua Achebe argued that if you want to know how orderly and civilised a society is, just watch how people drive on the road. The recklessness and lawlessness that has come to characterise driving on Nigerian roads, seem to me, an apt analogy for the reckless manner in which public discourse is conducted today on social media.

For better or for worse we can now observe the unbridled behaviour of so many people on social media doing indecent things that catch their fancy. The pristine values of discretion and discernment are steadily depleting. The tidal wave of modern information and communication technology has succeeded in sweeping us off our feet. People of all ages now find themselves driving on new technological highways without having the proper formation. If the Internet was already addictive when we were surfing on our desktop at home or on our laptop at work, today we now carry the addiction in our pockets, our smartphones. Interestingly, while everyone is getting a smartphone, the reality of the situation is that not everyone is getting smarter.

The ethical side of the problem is that we are living in a country where there are no common values by which we can all agree on what is right and what is wrong. When you attempt to raise issues with a Nigerian, especially on social media, the tendency is for the real substance of the matter to be lost in the haystack of prejudice. However valid your facts or your arguments, you are quickly labelled as a bigot. It is here that you see how wildly emotive Nigerians can be. The individual may not proffer any superior argument to trump yours, but will simply substitute sound reasoning with verbal gymnastics, casting venomous aspersion on your personality.

In logical reasoning, this fallacy is called “argumentum ad hominem,” a Latin phrase which means responding to arguments by attacking a person’s character, rather than addressing the content of their arguments. This is especially common among people who are intolerant of criticism, and in these days of polarised public discourses, one only needs to follow the trends on social media to get a feel of how much rot and vulgar verbal exchanges have infested our public vocabulary. Thomas Friedman, a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist, was right when he said that in today’s world of social media, “Everybody is connected, and nobody is in control.”

On account of the foul language that has infested cyberspace, many people have refrained from signing on to any interactive social media network. While I understand with this category of people, I have always reasoned that if a writer chooses to opt out of public discourse for fear of bruising his ego or for the sake of maintaining a good reputation, he would be failing in his duty to society. In the same way, if good people refrain from entering into social media, they invariably surrender their responsibility to positively influence the use of these media by allowing the bad people to hijack the system for their banal purposes.

I believe that words are very powerful. They have the capacity to inspire and to uplift, but they also have the capacity to hurt and to denigrate. We, therefore, have a moral obligation to jealousy guard what we write and post on social media. Parents, schools, and religious institutions need to teach our children and young people how to talk sensibly and reasonably. Foul language and reckless public behaviour are evident signs of bad home training, poor civics and the breakdown of a sound ethical culture. In conducting public discourse, we can have good reasons to disagree with our leaders, but we have to do that respectfully. I don’t know how young people will feel if their own biological parents were insulted the way they insult their own leaders on social media. The admonition of Saint Paul in Ephesians 4:29 is therefore, the challenge before us: “Do not let even one bad word come from your mouth, but only good words that will encourage when necessary and be helpful to those who hear you.”

This week (Monday 5th – Friday 9th) is International Customer Service Week. The event is an internationally recognized one, event devoted to identifying the importance of customer service and to honoring the people who serve and support customers each day. Celebrated annually during the first full week in October, Customer Service Week is celebrated in over 40 countries, Nigeria inclusive.

Customer Service Week provides a unique opportunity for service and support professionals around the globe to join in a celebration of the important role that customer service plays in every organization. The five core goals of Customer Service Week are:

1. Boost morale, motivation and teamwork.
2. Reward frontline reps for the important work they do all year long.
3. Raise company-wide awareness of the importance of customer service.
4. Thank other departments for their support.
5. Remind customers of your organization’s commitment to customer satisfaction.

According to the official website of Customer Service Group, This year’s Customer Service Week theme is Everyday Heroes™. The theme recognizes that everyday, frontline customer service professionals are heroes in their customer’s eyes.

The Everyday Heroes™ logo harks back to the era of classic comic book heroes with its bold primary colors and vivid dot pattern.

Participating institutions in Nigeria include leading financial, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, retailing, hospitality, communications, not-for-profit and educational organizations, as well as government agencies and others. The uniting denominator is the deep commitment to quality customer care.

These institutions are planning to lavish their customers with lots of goodies ranging from refreshments, special gifts and services. In the light of the theme, some banks have instructed their staff to put on costumes to reflect any of the "everyday heroes". So, do not be taken aback when you walk into the banking hall only to see bank staff dressed in students, nurses, doctors uniform. You are not in the wrong place. Its Customer Service Week!

Enjoy the fun.

Politics / Federal Government Plans To Increase VAT To 10% by Acelifted: 2:18pm On Aug 08, 2015
The Federal Government of Nigeria plans to double the value-added tax rate to 10 per cent this year to help shore up government revenue eroded by the declining price of oil, the country’s main export, the Federal Inland Revenue Service said.

“The plan is to increase to 10 percent this year, but we have to consult first with relevant stakeholders,” Sunday Ogungbesan, Acting Executive Chairman of the FIRS, told reporters.

Nigeria depends on crude exports for about 70 per cent of government revenue and more than 90 percent of foreign exchange. The price of Brent crude has dropped by more than half since peaking in June last year, undermining President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to deliver on his election promises since he took office in May.

FIRS will put more effort in meeting targets after its collection of 1.97 trillion naira ($9.9 billion) in revenue in the first half fell short of a goal of 2.29 trillion naira, Ogungbesan said.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is an upright man. Not many people
know that his first daughter is married to an Igbo man from
Anambra. He exempted Christians from performing duty on
Sundays.

When his Muslim soldiers asked him to exempt them from duty
on Friday, he told them the bible says Christians should rest
on the 7th day, the Muslims should show him where the Koran
says they should rest on Fridays.”

As Head of State he slashed the number of Muslim going on
pilgrimage by 50%. His driver and cook for the past 10 years
plus are Christians yet some uninformed Nigerians say he is a
bigot. It is a pity that some people failed to understand that
PDP deliberately capitalised on the gullibility of Nigerians to
paint him black.

This they did in order to keep their loots and ensure that he
never gets the opportunity to send them to go. How many Nigerians would hold the appointment of government, minister of petroleum, PTF chairman and head of state yet don’t own a house in Abuja? He has only one house and never kept a foreign account.

This was indeed a good fight of faith. It is faith in God that activates (releases) the power to heal & deliver. She activated that power by believing, confessing & hoping (against hope), coupled with a background of intercessions and (spiritual) covering.

I don't know why others didn't survive, but God is NEVER culpable! Do your bit and watch God move in your circumstances. When others are saying there's a casting down, you will say there's a lifting. Fear, unbelief, doubt, destitution and agitation are weapons the enemy Satan uses to weaken our ability to activate this immense power available to us.

Am a Christian. Just sharing what I believe. Don't rip me apart. Violence & aggression (in words, text or deeds) are xtics of Satan.

NIGERIANS DOMINATE SHORTLIST AS FORBES AFRICA PERSON OF THE YEAR NOMINEES GO TO POLL

Forbes Africa, today announced it has narrowed down a shortlist, dominated by Nigerians, for the 2013 Person of the Year Awards, due to take place in Nairobi, Kenya at the beginning of December this year.

Following suggestions from Forbes Africa’s readers and social media audience, official voting in the form of a poll onç, is now open to the public who can make their selection of the individual they deem most worthy of the Person of the Year title.

The Person of the Year Awards celebrate ‘the individual who, for better or worse, has had the most influence on events of the year gone by’ and Forbes Africa has welcomed the participation of the public in what is fast becoming one of the most momentous and anticipated annual events in Africa.

“Every year, we are excited to decide the Forbes Africa Person of the Year. We want to honour the big hitters of the continent who are making a difference in people’s lives and we hope that in doing so, it will inspire others,” commented Chris Bishop, the managing editor of Forbes Africa magazine.

The shortlist, comprising of three Nigerians, one South African and one Zimbabwean, is as follows:

1. South African mining magnate, Patrice Motsepe, plans on giving away more than half his fortune over the next five years.

2. Akinwunmi Adesina is Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and his vision is to make Nigeria a self-sustaining, food-producing nation and register 20 million farmers by 2015.

3. Aliko Dangote is Africa’s richest man and his net worth has significantly increased on the back of his continued business success, allowing him to better the lives of millions.

4. Strive Masiyiwa is the founder of global telecoms group, Econet Wireless, and through Capernaum Trust he educates tens of thousands of Zimbabwean orphans.

5. Jim Ovia established Zenith Bank Group in 1990 – now West Africa’s second largest financial services provider. His focus has turned to helping grow Africa’s budding ‘techpreneurs’.

2013 has been an exciting year for entrepreneurs and business across Africa. Who do you believe has made a real impact in business by stimulating economic growth, creating employment, spearheading innovation and bringing new technologies to the continent? The top five candidates will comprise a portion of what will be the Person of the Year Awards judges’ final decision. Go to http://forbesafrica.com/person-of-the-year/voting.html to vote now. Voting closes 4 November!

SADLY, EVEN THOUGH NIGERIANS ARE DOMINATING, NO ONE OF THEM MAY WIN. WE SHOULD TAKE TIME TO VOTE. WE HAVE NUMBER ON OUR SIDE. IF WE CAN DO IT FOR BIG BROTHER AFRICA, WE SHOULD EVEN DO MORE NOW.
Religion / Saving The Church I by Acelifted: 7:53pm On Oct 18, 2013
Jeremiah 30:7-9 KJV: Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. (cool For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: (9) But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

Ezekiel 34:2-3 KJV: Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? (3) Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.

Ezekiel 34:22-23 KJV: Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. (23) And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

Here, the scriptures above speak symbolically and prophetically of God saving His church in this 3rd day typified above by Jeremiah as ‘Jacob' and by Ezekiel as ‘my flock'.

What is God saving the church from?

Bad leadership that is exploiting them financially and materially and is not feeding them spiritually.

This sad spiritual condition of the church is typified by 3 New Testament characters and accounts:

1. The mad man of Gadara (Mk. 5:1-17): typifying a church that lacks understanding, so is living among the dead; is naked: having no righteousness; is cutting himself with stones: misusing the stone or rock of revelation knowledge; and cannot be bound: is rebellious (1 Sam. 15:23) and will not be submitted to (1 Pet. 5:5) and restrained (1 Pet.4:2-3) by the authority of the Word.

Proverbs 21:16 AMP: A man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall abide in the congregation of the spirits (of the dead).

Revelation 3:14-17 KJV: And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; (15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

2. The woman with the issue of blood (Mk. 5:25-34): typifying a church that is dying spiritually. She is losing life typified by blood (Lev. 17:14): a church that is not receiving the life of God in sufficient measure because of pride and a lack of knowledge and practice of BOTH right-standing and right-doing.

Revelation 3:1-2 KJV: And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. (2) Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

3. Jairius' daughter (Mk. 5:35-43) typifying a church that is dying physically pre-maturely because of sexual impurity and spiritual mediocrity typified by ‘wood, hay and stubble'. So this type of Christian is suffering the loss of growing into the perfection and fulness of Christ and the reward of the Spirit without measure.

1Corinthians 5:1 KJV: It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

1Corinthians 5:5 MKJV: to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1Corinthians 3:15-17 MKJV: If anyone's work shall be burned up, he shall suffer loss. But he shall be saved, yet so as by fire. (16) Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (17) If anyone defiles the temple of God, God shall destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which you are.

Woged2005:

Please where in the Bible did God in his own word say He hates divorce? (not implied statement).

God doesn't change. He could not have condoned something in the old testament and suddenly change to something else to accommodate people. I still have to repeat that 'Sin' is breaking one of the ten commandments. There are things that make you lead a good Christian life and prevent you from committing sin, however, they are not sins in themselves. Eg a women wearing a see-through dress to church is not a sin (God created us nude anyway). However if that will distract other xtians looking at her & lead them to temptation, then we encourage her to cover up, as a good xtian not because it's sin. Divorce could lead to adultery, but divorce in itself is not adultery.

Woged2005:

You are right, God hates it! a good church should hate it, I hate it too, many people who got divorced hated the situation too.

But for references, as bad as it is that does not make it a Sin that will take one to hell fire. A sin is breaking one of the ten commandments. Divorce is not one of it. we cannot add or remove from the ten commandments..otherwise I'd like to add many things in there like racism and corruption grin. That's my point

Woged2005- the fact that God hates it makes it bad enough to qualify as sin. The truth is that God does not send people to hell at the slightest snap of the finger. Heaven is a gift to mankind. So it is not a card he flashes from time to time. Though if you take His grace for granted, you could loose that. But God permitted it in the old testament because of the rigidness of the their heart. God's cannot afford to entertain this form of compromise in this dispensation because the stakes are too high. More so, grace now much more abound to be able to bear up the challenges of living with the weaknesses of one another and overcoming the pressure of fleshly desires.

Therefore, that God permitted then does not mean it is not a sin. He hates it! If He hated then, He still does now. And we have less excuse because of grace that now abounds. The way to access this grace by humility and honesty of heart.

idnoble135: The biblical concept of divorce differs. When you read mathew 19, you'd understand that marriage can not be dissolved. It might be before men but not before God. Howbeit, we are made to understand that marriage can be dissolved on one condition and it will be acknowledged by God, if only one of the partners was found in adultery.
But the human laws permit it. So divorce is not illegal going by laws governing a country.

Good to know that you brought light and truth to the entire issue. I was beginning to be afraid (scrolling down the thread) that this discussion will enter page 2 without any meaningful clarification from the biblical viewpoint (since the OP made reference to several biblical instances). Whether you call it "put away" or "divorce", God hates it.

Religion / Who Do We Call A “father” In The Church? by Acelifted: 2:58pm On Oct 01, 2013
It is common mantra in Christendom for people to refer to their pastors or fellowship presidents as their “father in the Lord”. I think it is a misuse of concept, considering the fact that the position of a father is designed for people who have not only embraced but are also willing to carry out the responsibility attached with such a position. If we know the responsibilities that God demands from fathers, many of our pastors and fellowship leaders will not be so enthusiastic about being called a father.

In 1Co 4:15, the bible says that “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel". Fathers are few (irrespective of those parading themselves as one). They begot children in Christ at two levels – (1) to get them born again (2) for Christ to be formed in them. That is, the image and likeness of Christ to be formed in their souls (will, mind and emotions) and made manifest in their conducts. The second level of birth is where the critical responsibility of fatherhood is demanded as seen in Galatians 4:19 – “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you”. This ‘travail’ is done in the place of deep intercessory prayers that often demands self denial of pleasures and even legitimate natural demands such as sleep, food and other forms of pleasures and material gains.

Sequel to the above point, a father NEVER fleeces his children of their money and possessions (even though it is good for them to share with him – Gal 6:6). He never insists or cunningly extorts his children because their spiritual growth is more paramount to him than material possessions and is ready to let go or delay any legitimate gratification, if demanding that will adversely affect their spiritual growth.

Fathers lead by example - 1Co 4:16: Therefore I beseech you, be imitators of me. Little children imitate their parents. My biological son imitates me (in words and deeds, and that bother me at times because of some of my obvious flaws). Many of our pastors are merely instructors who do not practice what they teach. Jesus said of them in Matthew 23:2-3: “Saying, the scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do. But DO NOT do according to their works; for they say, and do not do”. Listen to your instructors (pastors) and obey them but don’t do what they do. A Father insists on obedience only when his own obedience is complete – “being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete” (2Cor 10:6).

Brethren, you need a father to enter into the fullness of your destiny and inheritance in God. Instructors can only take you thus far. Fathers take you all the way! If your pastor or overseer falls short of these qualities, please do not hesitate to look for one. The world, by reason of ICT, is now a global village. Pray and ask God to help and lead you. He will give you a father. You may not have to leave your church. But by following (in obedience and reverence) after your fathers (through online and physical materials), you will grow into the image and likeness of Christ. I have never met (not in this life again) Smith Wigglesworth or Kenneth Hagin in my life, but I am growing reading their biography and materials. So do Joyce Meyer and Pastor Olubi Johnson in Nigeria have great impact on my spiritual growth.
