Star Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated in what could spell the end of their nearly 13-year marriage, People magazine reported on Wednesday, and a representative for Zeta-Jones confirmed the separation.

"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," a spokeswoman for Zeta-Jones said in a statement provided to Reuters, adding that she would not make any further comment.

According to People, Douglas and Zeta-Jones, both Oscar winners and among Hollywood's most high-profile couples, have in recent months vacationed separately, appeared at red carpet events without the other and are ostensibly living apart.

The magazine cited two close confidants of the couple, with one quoted as saying, "They're taking a break." Neither star has filed for divorce nor moved toward a legal separation, it added.

Douglas' New York office had no comment on the report.

Douglas, 68, and Zeta-Jones, 43, married in 2000 and have two children. Both have struggled with health issues in recent years.

Zeta-Jones said in April that she was seeking help for bipolar disorder, her second-known trip to a healthcare facility for the condition since 2011 when she sought treatment for what aides said was the stress of coping with Douglas' advanced throat cancer diagnosis in 2010 and subsequent treatment.

"The stress has taken a toll on their marriage," People quoted a friend as saying.

The A-list couple decided to spend time apart shortly after Douglas returned from the Cannes Film Festival in France in May, where his Emmy-nominated movie about Liberace, "Behind the Candelabra," was screened.

They first met in 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival in France, began dating the following year, got engaged on New Year's Eve of 1999 and co-starred in the 2000 release "Traffic."

Zeta-Jones, most recently seen in the summer release "Red 2," had at that point recently returned from round of treatment to monitor her bipolar disorder, the magazine said.

Douglas has won Oscars as a producer of the 1975 best picture "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and as best actor in 1987's "Wall Street." Zeta-Jones won her best supporting actress Academy Award for the 2002 musical "Chicago."

Just bought a 2004 Toyota Avensis about 3 months ago with a mileage of about 80k & she's a real beauty. Serviced it with Mobil 1 engine oil & she's been a real life saver. I'll use it for another 8,000km - 10,000km before servicing compared to the 5,000km for basic engine oil.

Mileage doesn't matter provided you attend to your car on a regular basis. I boarded a cab in Dubai last year with a mileage of 750,000km & it still looked sharp. The state of the roads also contributes immensely to the life span of your vehicle.

The estate of pop music legend Michael Jackson owes $702 million in federal taxes and penalties, the Internal Revenue Service charged in U.S. Tax Court, accusing the estate of under valuing some of the star's assets by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The dollar amounts in dispute had not been previously disclosed in the court challenge that the Jackson estate filed in July to a bill from the IRS, the U.S. tax-collecting agency.

At issue is the wide difference between what the estate said Jackson's legacy was worth versus what the IRS determined was its taxable value.

An IRS spokesman and lawyers for the estate declined to comment.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, the date of the estate tax return. His estate's beneficiaries are Jackson's mother, Katherine, his three children and charities.

The estate's 2009 tax filing said the total Jackson estate had a $7 million taxable value. In May, the IRS issued the estate a tax deficiency notice for $505.1 million in taxes and $196.9 million in penalties, according to Tax Court documents dated Tuesday.

Jackson's image and likeness were valued by the IRS at $434 million. The estate said its taxable value was $2,105.

The largest taxable item was the estate's stake in some of Jackson's recording assets, listed as MJ/ATV Publishing Trust interest in New Horizon Trust II, which was valued at $469 million by IRS. It was not valued in the 2009 estate filing.

The IRS's alleged tax deficiency also includes some items that were overvalued by the estate.

A Jackson estate spokesman said the IRS's appraisal values "were based on speculative and erroneous assumptions unsupported by the facts or law." The Jackson estate has paid $100 million in taxes, he said on Friday.

Under Tax Court rules, the Jackson estate will not need to pay any taxes or penalties unless the court rules in favor of the IRS.

Jackson died at age 50 from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol while rehearsing for a series of comeback concerts in London.

The attackers used rockets to release fatal fumes over the suburb in the early hours of yesterday morning as people slept in their homes.

The Syrian president has denied being behind the attack as protests against it erupted in other parts of the world. While the UN has announced an emergency security meeting to address the latest situation.

A former United Airlines flight attendant made repeated bomb threats against his former employer, mostly by calling 911 from pay phones, according to a plea agreement reached with federal prosecutors in California.

Prosecutors said that Patrick Cau, who was fired from United two years ago after 16 years with the company, has admitted to making eight separate bomb threats targeting United flights, starting last October and continuing for four months.

He went on to work at American Airlines, a rival company. American, a unit of AMR Corp, said it had dismissed Cau in April, after his name came up on a no-fly list and that the airline had "followed all required security procedures."

The agreement said the threats had caused significant disruptions and cost United $267,912.

In early October, for example, Cau called an internal United number to report a flight from London to Los Angeles would be bombed. In the other incidents, he made similar threats from pay phones in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas and Seattle, according to the plea agreement.

Cau's lawyer, Craig Charles, declined to discuss the charges but said Cau had grown frustrated with United after bringing sexual harassment charges against a male supervisor. Charles said that Cau believes his dismissal was in retaliation for that complaint.

A United spokeswoman would only say that Cau had been employed by United and otherwise declined comment.

Cau, a Los Angeles resident, will appear in federal court next Monday. He faces a maximum sentence of five years behind bars.

Actor and screenwriter Wentworth Miller, best known for his leading role in Fox television drama "Prison Break," came out as a gay man on Wednesday in a letter declining an invitation to attend a Russian film festival in light of Moscow's recently adopted anti-gay laws.

Miller, 41, turned down an offer to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival as a "guest of honor" in a letter posted on the website of advocacy group GLAAD, which monitors media representation of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people and issues.

"Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline," Miller wrote to festival director Maria Averbakh.

Miller wrote that he was "deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government," and did not want attend a festival in a country where "people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly."

Russia's parliament banned the spread of gay "propaganda" among minors in a law passed in June, which includes imposing fines on those holding gay pride rallies, has attracted international condemnation.

Miller, who played incarcerated structural engineer Michael Scofield in Fox's "Prison Break" from 2005 to 2009, has recently turned his hand at screenwriting, penning the script for this year's dark thriller "Stoker," starring Nicole Kidman.

Miller's letter comes after Bravo channel host and executive producer Andy Cohen told E! News last week that he would not be co-hosting Donald Trump's Miss Universe pageant this year in Moscow because he "didn't feel right as a gay man stepping foot into Russia."

As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead. At the premiere of her new film, "Lee Daniels' The Butler," in Los Angles on Monday evening, the U.S. actress and talk show host, recently named by Forbes as the world's most powerful celebrity, said she regretted saying it took place in Switzerland.

"I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I purposefully did not mention the name of the store. I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland," she told reporters on the red carpet.

"I was just referencing it as an example of being in a place where people don't expect that you would be able to be there," she added.

A Russian surgeon has been arrested for taking a five-gram bag of heroin he found in a patient's stomach.

"The doctor was intoxicated at the time of detention," police for the Siberian region of Krasnoyarsk said in a statement on Tuesday, adding he faced up to 15 years in prison for theft and possession.

The doctor, who was not named, refused to answer questions without a lawyer, the police said.

It was not clear whether the patient had been arrested.

U.S. daredevil Anthony Martin is preparing for what his closest associates consider one of his most dangerous stunts ever - on Tuesday he plans to be locked in a wooden box that will be pushed out of an airplane at 14,500 feet.

"We're shoving it out the door," Martin's longtime skydiving stunt coordinator, Rook Nelson, said.

Martin, 47, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, figures he has about 40 seconds to pick the lock and escape from the box, which will be falling at a speed of 120 miles an hour. A slight miscalculation could mean death.

The Skyvan twin-turbine plane is due to take off from an airstrip near Ottawa, Illinois, south of Chicago at 2 p.m. (1900 GMT). Martin and his box are to be dropped over a field at Serena, about five miles away.

Martin, a veteran daredevil, is trying to duplicate a stunt he pulled off successfully 25 years ago. Nelson said he has spoken with Martin about the stunt many times and is confident he can pull it off again. When asked if he considered it highly dangerous, he said, "Oh, absolutely."

"There is no key," Nelson said. "He has to pick the lock."

Martin was not available for interviews Tuesday morning. Nelson said Martin had gone into seclusion to prepare.

According to the plan, two skydivers will jump along with Martin to stabilize the box as it falls. The skydivers will not be able to open the box and rescue Martin if his lock picking skills fail him, Nelson said.

Martin's personal website says he has escaped from handcuffs and manacles while skydiving, got out of locked prison cells after being put in a straight jacket and escaped from a locked steel safe.

A woman has posted an offer on a French website to breast-feed babies of homosexual male couples for 100 euros ($130) a day, stirring up media interest just weeks after a divisive same-sex marriage law was passed.

The post, which the website said it verified as genuine and legal, reads: "I am a young mother in perfect health, a trained nurse of 29, and I am renting my breasts to milk-feed infants."

The offer, addressed to male homosexual couples who can marry legally in France since May, promises up to 10 breast-feeds a day. The woman is mobile and based near Paris, it says.

Alexandre Woog, chief executive of the e-loue website where the offer appeared, said its staff had contacted the person and had no doubt about her identity and the seriousness of the proposal, nor the legality of the service proposed.

"Our legal advisers are sure of this. It's illegal in France to sell maternal milk but this is a person proposing a service, not selling the milk in flasks," Woog told Reuters.

While France has just joined more than a dozen countries to legalize marriage and adoption of children by same-sex couples, it does not permit surrogacy or assisted reproduction for gay and lesbian couples.

Reuters was unable to independently confirm the authenticity of the French breast-feed offer or the identity of the person behind it, who said in response to queries via the website that many people had replied to the proposal.

"I've received more than a dozen requests, but only half of them were serious. The rest were from perverts," the poster of the offer, run like all adverts under a pseudonym, said in an exchange with Reuters.

Woog said his website, created in 2009 as a platform where users can offer or hire anything legal online, checks any posts that raise eyebrows.

The breast-feeding offer was the second major eyecatcher since the website was founded, he said. Another user previously offered to rent out two goats as lawn-cutters.

Rapper DMX was arrested on Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence and failing to have a valid driver's license, Greenville County jail officials told Reuters.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, paid $1,235 in bail and left Greenville County Detention Center after being booked on the charges, jail officials said.

But a representative for the 42-year-old New York-born rapper, who lives in South Carolina, said the DUI charge was never filed officially because Simmons passed a breath test in the jail.

"He was in and out in under an hour," Domenick Nati of Nati Celebrity Services, Inc, which represents DMX, told Reuters.

Local law enforcement officials could not be reached for comment on the discrepancy.

The rapper was pulled over after an officer noticed the he was not wearing a seat belt, Nati said. He said he did not know if DMX was given a roadside sobriety test.

"Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false," Nati said. "He was arrested but quickly released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it. He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles."

The rapper, whose albums include "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" and "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood," also starred in the movies "Romeo Must Die" and "Cradle 2 The Grave."

Simmons was arrested in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in February for driving with a suspended license.

Simmons has an extensive arrest record that includes charges of animal cruelty, reckless driving, drug possession, weapons charges and probation violations.

He has had several felony convictions and has served prison time in Arizona.

No fewer than three siblings were burnt to death after a fire razed a residential building in Ohong community of Obudu Local Government, Cross River State.

It was leant that the siblings– two boys and a girl — aged between four and eight years, were the dead victims of the inferno, which occurred about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the fire incident was caused by a generator, which developed fault shortly after it was switched on by the father of the kids, Mr. John Ugem.

According to a neighbour of the bereaved family, Mr. Sunday Ugbe, fuel from the leaking tank of the generator flowed into the sitting and suddenly caught fire 30 minutes after it was switched on.

He said the parents of the deceased were sitting in the corridor of the house, while the kids were inside when suddenly fire engulfed the house

Ugbe said, "The generator was on for about 30 minutes before some quantities of petrol, which apparently leaked from the tank, started flowing to the sitting room.

"We don't know what could have ignited the generator, but suddenly the sitting room was on fire which also trapped the kids inside."

He said sympathisers, who attempted to force the windows and door open to rescue the kids, were repelled by the huge fire, smoke and heat emanating from the house.

The fire was said to have defied all efforts by neighbours to put it out as Ugem was said to have stored some containers of petrol in the house.

Poised to save the lives of his children, Ugem was said to have gained entry into the house through one of the back windows but also got trapped by the inferno.

As of the time of going to the press Ugem, who narrowly escaped death, is currently on admission at the Obudu Sacred Heart Hospital with life threatening-burns.

An attempt to speak with his wife, Mrs. S. Ugem, proved abortive as she was in bitter tears, saying that the fire had "spiritual" undertone.

The remains of a New York schoolteacher who disappeared nearly 28 years ago have been discovered hidden in a false basement wall in the house where she lived with her husband, police said on Tuesday.

JoAnn Nichols was 55 years old when her husband James reported her missing in 1985, police in Poughkeepsie, New York, said. He died in December of natural causes, they added.

The remains were found when a contractor was asked to clean out the wood-frame house in Poughkeepsie, about 65 miles north of New York City. The house was filled with hoarded items and garbage, they said.

The remains were identified as belonging to the missing woman on Monday through dental records.

James Nichols told detectives he last saw his wife when he left for work at IBM in December 1985, according to Poughkeepsie Journal archives.

Her body was discovered wrapped in a sheet and plastic bag, tied with rope and placed in a fetal position inside a plastic container that was found in a false wall, said Kari Reiber, the county's medical examiner.

The location where she was found was enclosed, which might have helped hide the body's existence, she said.

"There might have not been any odor, even if she was there for a long time," Reiber said.

An autopsy revealed that Nichols, who taught first grade, died of blunt head trauma, Reiber said.

"She was struck in the head," she said. "It is being ruled a homicide."

After Nichols went missing, her husband was never ruled out as a suspect, said Poughkeepsie Police Captain Paul Lecomte.

Nichols taught her last class on December 20, 1985, when school let out for the winter holidays. The next day, she failed to show up for a salon appointment, according to the local newspaper's archives.

The couple had one child, who drowned at age 25, three years before Nichols' disappearance.

Love's attires turned out to differ from the conventional ones set for Deeper Life members. Lots of people noticed her hair wasn't "natural" and that she applied lipstick as part of the make-up.

A limousine hired to deliver the couple to their destination after the wedding, a huge cake that was served at the ceremony were contrary to the church's tradition.

The church leaders decided to place the couple on suspension to give them time to pray and seek forgiveness from God for their action, following countless comments on social media and by the members of Deeper Life.

John and Love's suspension from church activities was announced last Saturday, at Deeper Life's monthly Miracle and Revival Programme, held at the Deeper Life Conference Centre (DLCC), Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The news was delivered by Pastor Philip Oluwi, a key leader in the church, who obviously was following the instructions from the General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William Kumuyi. Oluwi stressed that the standard of Deeper Life regarding wedding and moderacy had not changed.

"The church, Deeper Life, remains committed to the biblical practice and standard of almost 40 years Christian dressing and still remains and does not compromise on biblical Christian dressing.

"Hence, deviation warrants the displeasure and frown of God and the leadership of the church. John and Love are now under discipline," Oluwi announced to the entire congregation.

The couple has already apologised to the church for the inappropriate way the wedding was conducted. The letter was read by Oluwi and re-read several times to church members by the Church's Secretary, Pastor Jerry Asemota. The letter, addressed to the Church Secretary and titled 'Letter of Apology,' expressed the deepest regret of the couple for bringing the church into disrepute.

Moreover, further investigation has revealed that John and Love's wedding was not conducted in a Deeper Life Bible Church. It was also not conducted by pastors from the church, as Deeper Life Bible Church in Jamaica has not been licensed by the country's government to join couples in wedlock, according to the laws of Jamaica.

The wedding was taken to another church where the ministers in the unnamed church conducted the wedding and joined them in holy matrimony.

Deeper Life leaders that came from Nigeria were said to have disapproved of the earlier gown Love was to wear for the wedding, while another was hurriedly sewed the night before the wedding.

Church leaders were said not to have seen the new dress until the couple was marching into the church and by then, it was too late to take any action as the wedding was not conducted in a Deeper Life church.
