Nice question. The normal Nigerian padypady things
Read the story again so you can get it.

It's her willingness and persistence backed by the favour of God that gave her that license. The then maryam babangida wife which she sew clothes for was the one she told to help contact the people incharge of the license stuff, and she agreed. When she went there she was not given the stuff automatically. She tried up to 4 to 5 times before she got it. It took her years before she was finally called one day. She's indeed a strong woman.
BusinessRe: Folorunsho Alakija: The Icon Who Refused To Be Conquered by achimendy(m): 9:16pm On Dec 24, 2025
OverCalculating:
Folorunsho Alakija did not study Geology.

She started as a Secretary. Then she became a Fashion Designer.

Yet, she beat the global oil giants at their own game.

Most people think she just "got lucky" with an oil license.

But the truth is, she used a strategy called The "Rejected Stone" Advantage.

Here is what happened:

In the 90s, she applied for an oil license.

The powers that be gave her OPL 216.

They didn't give her this block because they liked her.

They gave it to her because nobody else wanted it.

It was "Deep Offshore" (Deep Water).

At that time, the technology to drill that deep was expensive and risky.

The big companies (Shell, Mobil) wanted the easy, shallow water.

They thought they gave her a "useless" paper.

She saw a "Golden Ticket."

She knew she didn't have the billions to drill.

But she had the Rights.

She approached Texaco (now Chevron).

She told them: "I have the access. You have the technology. Let's work."

She didn't try to dig with her hands. She used her "Paper" as equity to attract a giant.

This is the most important lesson.

When they finally struck oil (the massive Agbami Field), the Government was shocked at the volume.

They got jealous.

The Government tried to use a decree to forcefully take back 50% of her stake.

Most people would have bowed to the Federal Government out of fear.

Alakija sued them.

She fought the Federal Government in court for 12 years.

She refused to settle. She refused to be bullied.

Eventually, the Supreme Court ruled in her favor, restoring her full stake.

Why am I telling you this?

Don't despise the "Hard" road:

Just because an opportunity looks difficult (Deep Water) doesn't mean it's bad.

That is often where the biggest treasure is hidden.

Defend your Value: In business, creating wealth is one thing.

Keeping it is the real war.

You must have the audacity to fight for what is yours, even if you are fighting a Giant.

She went from sewing clothes to owning one of the most prolific oil blocks in Africa.

Not by luck. But by Grit.

Nairalanders! I hope you learnt something today.
Her story is really inspiring. Very strong and persistent woman. Learnt a lot from her story. Success is not for the fainthearted but for the strong minds which she is.

PropertiesRe: Land Vs House: Which Is A Better Investment Between These Two? by achimendy(m): 9:32pm On Dec 18, 2025
mommaJ:
Between buying lands or buying a house and putting it up for rent?

Which Is the better investment?

Plz share your opinions guys.
Both of them is a good idea depending on some factors like the location, and how people respond to buying properties in that area. If it's a developing area it's btter for you to buy landed properties than building a house for rent. The reason is because you'll buy those land at a more considerable or moderate prices, and in a long or short run you'll sale at a more profitable price, people always rush things like that, and you won't spend much money on it like a full public house that cost a lot to build and also to maintain. You realise profit with ease it.

But if it's in a developed area both of them is still good too. The reason is because, when you buy landed or building property, it can be easily sold with huge profit realised in a short time. Furthermore, in a developed area prices can change at any time depending on desperately the buyer needs it. This is my business, I've seen how price was changed in a day for a particular house and the buyer still paid because is a developed area and business move there.

So think about it and consider your options.

List 3 logical things men really offer in a relationship. They only thing men have to offer is money. Util men offer more we wont offer anything other than the sxxx.

You can't expect more when you give less. I laugh at "men offer food". Women are the only one who offer food. You thought the statement "women belong to the kitchen" came from where? We offer food. men only offer money and maybe shelter.
Mention one successful man, you know that was lifted by a woman, even on an average level? Am sure You won't be able to Mention anyone. But can we say thesame for the hundreds of women who's life has being changed by many men, women who have been shifted from poverty to comfort.

Majority of you women have ungrateful attitude , that's why women like you think men have nothing to offer other than money, yet when you people don't get that money from a man you hastily switch to the next man by selling your body to him so you can have access to his pocket.

2026 is coming soon, make sure you drop that bad attitude as you dive into it.

The concept of Heaven and Hell is to empower the leaders (spiritual or political) to enjoy this life to the fullest, making the followers to be docile to their authorities and command promising them good life after earth in heaven. The same good life the leaders on earth are enjoying, not waiting to get it in heaven.
Don't realise the truth when is too late my dear, the word of God is no joke, as is written clearly in the bible so shall it be. The word of God is not there to empower spiritual leaders or politicians but to everyone who accept jesus and believe in him as their lord and saviour. I would never speak to my child like that. She is a human being and her purpose in life is not determined by her relationships with others. That’s a dehumanising statement to make about your own child.
What exactly is your point here? A lady is getting married for the third time, not because she lost her husbands but was returned back to her father which is very clear that her bad character is the cause of her marriage failure and you're here talking about her purpose. No responsible father will be happy with that kind of news from his daughter. And am sure is that anger that made him say that to her. Although for me I cannot
say that to my daughter in public but will definitely scold her with that same words in private.

I don't encourage nonsense.

Why blame the father, what happened to advising girls to stop the sampling and stick to one dick, that way she learns how to stay faithful to one man through thick or thin?!

One divorce could be swept away with reports of violence and domestic abuse.

But two divorces is enough to call all the ex husbands for a very awkward meeting which is certain to produce so many answers as to who is at fault here and what stuff the girl is made of

Again I say what wrong has the father done?!
One bad habit I've noticed from majority of women is that they're quick to defend the bad character of their fellow women, and will never take responsibility for their actions.

See the way she's quick to blame the father of the girl as if he's the one that told her to be changing husband up and down.

If you like take it or leave it, majority of Nigerian girls date for survival. They relate with you base on what they can get, they're just like parasite feeding on their prey. So the moment they don't benefit anymore from you they switch to the other guy. Is a battle for survival not love.

Only few of them like 5% out of 100% will go for love regardless of your status. But it depends on how you approach and maintain the relationship with them. Don't go about flaunting money for them that's not display of love. People are just looking for who to use in this our generation.

Nigerians should not entertain any thoughts of foreign intervention. We are a sovereign nation and will solve our problems with Nigerian solutions. President Tinubu is handling the issues well, and the Federal Government is fully in charge.

I find it ridiculous that anyone will think about inviting the US or any country to invade Nigeria.
Yes we know we are a sovereign nation and our sovereignty must be respected, but be truthful to yourself, have we being handling the issue well as you said? The country has being experiencing wanton killings from Islamic terrorist and bandits for more than ten years and our irresponsible government is doing nothing about it. They only care more about their personal interest while the ordinary Nigerians struggle to survive in the hands of their killers.
Secondly, nobody invited the US govt, they invited themselves because of the Nigerian government inability to curb and contain the insecurity situation in nigeria. We brought this on ourselves, so let's not act as if we are not seeing what's going in this country. A lot terrorist sponsors are in government and the military, but feel untouchable because the federal government can't confront them and the people are being slaughtered every day.

The situation has to change for good, and the Nigerian government must do the needful or else someone else will do it for them. Nigerians deserve better.

Where did they talk about invading and dominating our natural resources?

Those that use excuse of them coming for resources are the people sponsoring and supporting the terrorists in Nigeria.

It's just terrorists playing mind game to fight back.
Whatever will bring peace and stability to our dear country is allowed. I know the American government cannot be trusted because they're two faced. They can be deceiving gullible Nigerians by telling us they want to destroy Islamic terrorist killing Christians but on the other hand they're targeting our resource. And the killing is not just limited to Christians alone but to other religion including idle worshippers.

But what can we say? We can't blame the US govt for taking such step because our leaders have being useless and irresponsible to the protection of lives and property of her people. Incessant killings have being going on for more than ten years and no measures have been put in place to curb the situation. They only care more about their self and personal interest while ordinary nigerians struggle to survive in the hands of their terrorists killers.

FamilyRe: Men Celebrating Their Wives In A Couples Banquet In Church, See Lonely Singles by achimendy(m): 10:04pm On Oct 27, 2025
franchasng:
I don't think this is good practice in a Church.

The Church should be a sacred place to worship and to commune with God not an entertainment center neither should Church be turned to a marriage counseling center.

If the Pastor wanted to turn to a marriage counselor, he should have organized a marriage seminar outside the Church and strictly for married couples.

The work of Church is to win souls for Christ and to help people learn to emulate Jesus Christ and live their life like Jesus Christ and not to entertain or to teach couples how to love each other. The Bible already taught that, couples should read their Bible and once they follow the ways of Christ, they don't need any Pastor to teach them to be good husband or wife to their spouses.

Dear Pastors, focus on Holiness and every other thing will fall in place please!!

This should be condemned and abolished immediately from all Churches please angry
When does teaching couples to love each other in church becomes a sin sir? When does encouraging love and professing love among married couples in the church becomes a sin? Even the jesus christ you're talking about encourage us to love one another, and also encourages husbands to love their wives as christ did love the church. Infact one of the major components of Christianity which christ demonstrated to us is love ❤️, and Is very important for the stability of any marriage.

So sir where are you getting this your extreme views of the church and christ himself? The church is the house of God and promoting love there is not a sin but healthy for the environment and the people there. I think you need proper enlightenment on what christ taught us as Christians and the love the church is trying to promote between married couples.
