I may be wrong, I think if he was still the president maybe he would have employed the best possible means to tackle this recession, and probably fight corruption with all alacrity, since it was going to be his last tenure, and it would have been an opportunity to implement some of his policies against corruption, and seriously tightened the loopholes or likages, which remains one of the best ways to fight corruption.

And he may probably try to make good name for himself by nailing corrupt politicians, recover looted funs without fear or favor since he was not going to be looking for anyone to help him win another tenure.
