This chapter is similar to what is obtainable today. We have continually disobeyed God and his commandments, we have sinned; sins of fornication, adultery, lying, cheating, anger and others, both those committed knowingly and the ones done by mistake.

During the days of Ezra, the prophet narrates the sins of Israel, how they abandoned God’s commandments, especially on instructions giving about intermarriage with tribes that practices idolatry and other sins they have been warned to desist from.


In Ezra 9:2, the prophet, “For the men of Israel have married women from these people and have taken them as wives for their sons. So the holy race has become polluted by these mixed marriages. Worse yet, the leaders and officials have led the way in this outrage”

But they repented after they realized they had sinned. After being told of the disobedience to God, they repented.

Let me tell you something my friend. God is capable of forgiving you all your iniquities- believe me, but you first admit that you sinned; confess your sins God will forgive you.

Be if fornication, adultery, lies, whatever! But you must be truly repentant. Not just saying it with mouth, but believing sincerely in your heart that you sinned and truthfully seek for forgiveness. People may not know what is on your mind, but God sees your heart, he sees it because he is present everywhere. He can see the tiniest veins in your body.

The prophet said in verse 8 of Ezra 9, “But now we have been given a brief moment of grace, for the LORD our God has allowed a few of us to survive as a remnant”

So when you keep escaping death and you continue to, and you keep thinking it’s because you are smart, you think it’s your wisdom, let me tell you, it is by the grace of God that you have been kept alive!

Those sins have captured you and put you into stagnation, either in an aspect of your life, or in the whole areas of your life. It can affect your finance, marriage, productivity, fertility, joy, and so on…, it is those sins; your disobedience to God Almighty, they are the cause if your calamities!

God is telling you to stop fornicating, stop adultery, you have refused to stop, you are catching fun, and sometimes you travel out of town to see another woman who is not your wife, risking accidents. Come to think of it, what if something terrible happens to either of the party during this unholy union? What if you get caught, what if you catch a deadly disease in the process, what if your lose your focus on life in the process? But the short moment of enjoyment is preferable!

Well, the good news is that the children of Israel repented, the prophet said in verse 10 of Ezra 9, “And now, o our God, what can we say after all of this? For once again we have abandoned your commands! Your servants the prophets warned us when they said; the land you are entering to possess is totally defiled by detestable practices; corruption and so forth!

Don’t fornicate, don’t commit adultery, don’t kill, don’t steal, don’t cheat, stop yahoo-yahoo, stop fraud, stop kidnapping, and stop money rituals.

But because you we have continued to sin and displease God, stealing, cheating, killing and causing mayhem here and there, all the time…. Hear this, please listen attentively!

Ezra 9: 13, “Now we are being punished because of our wickedness and our great guilt. But with all our sins we don’t receive so much punishment because God allows us to survive as remnants.

But if you repent and ask God for forgiveness, like the Israelites said in Ezra 9:15, “O Lord, God of Israel, you are just. We come before you in our guilt as nothing but an escaped remnant, though in such a condition none of us can stand in your presence”

And God forgave them. So you need to be truly repentant. Ask God to forgive you, mean it and deliberately make a change for the better.

A notorious phone thief and money doubler has been arrested by mobs around Taste Fried Chicken at Ogba in Lagos. According to our source, the alleged phone thief was notorious for entering Tricycle (Keke Marwa) with unsuspecting passengers, usually disposes them of their phones and other valuables.

The incident happened around 11 am, Tuesday.

Luck ran out of him this morning while he snatched phone from a passenger in a keke marwa. After snatching the phone the phone was passed to his partners in crime who ran away while he was caught at the front of Tasty Fried Chicken by the angry mobs who went after them, the two others escaped.

A Nigerian youth group, The Young Leaders Forum has condemned the invasion of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja by some members of the DSS on Tuesday. The group calls on politicians to play politics like football, where opposing team members hug and exchange pleasantries at the end of games regardless of who wins or loss.

In a statement released by the Executive Director of the group to it's members, the forum commended Vice president Prof Yemi Osibanjo for promptly intervening in the matter before it resulted into anarchy.

The group called on Nigerians to collectively save the country's democracy from a collapse.

A young generator repairer, Tunji Opadiran has committed suicide by hanging himself with rope tied to the hook of a ceiling fan, this evening, in his one room apartment at 8 Morounfolu Street, Akilo in Ogba area of Lagos State.

In so many ways he was very popular, influential and a good speaker. In those days when there was no means of using public address system, he spoke to 5,000 people who sat outside, no canopies, no tent, just in the open field, and they sat, listening to him for hours, without food. Who else can be this popular, even in this current world, that things are much easier!

If you have read about prophets in the Old Testament before Jesus Christ, you will notice that as strong as they were in prophesies, prayers and even miracles, they were not strong teachers like Jesus. Many preachers sprang up after the death of Jesus almost all of them using the pattern and life of Jesus to teach people up to our present time.

That means, his influence is still on, up to this current generation. Isn't that very awesome! He lived thousands of years ago, don't forget.

There were preachers in the Old Testament more than the few most of us know, they were very influential and popular too, but didn't have much direct followers like Jesus had, is influence is still being used by most Christians in the world today.


Whenever Jesus was teaching, there are usually thousands of people sitting to listen to him preach. Even in our present day with all the modern technologies, you can hardly find a preacher that pastors 1000 people at a time, not to talk of 5000 or 10,000 as we see Jesus did in the books of Matthew to Luke in the New Testament of the Bible.

Even when Jesus preached in the rain or in the sun, there were thousands gathered to listen to him. Why? Because he taught with authority, He was an authority and still is an authority.He was very influential, he had lots of integrity, he was a very courageous leader and people simply followed him, because they trust him.

Spiritually, Jesus Christ owns the key of heaven where everything about life comes from, He is therefore an authority in heaven; He can authoritatively speak on any subject matter because He has the key that answers all things. He knows it all!

Matthew 7:28-29 says, “When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowd were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real- authority- quite unlike their teachers of religious law”. You see why those ones were not so popular, they did not teach with authority, they lacked knowledge and even the integrity to say the things the learned because it may go contrary to their way of life. Their preaching are have been corrupted, they live a larger-than -life, lifestyle!

Do you know the most interesting part of it, Jesus said, those who believe those things He did, can even do much better than him. Look at that! But that doesn't come easy. It comes with a lot of sacrifice. You MUST follow diligently the words and commandments of God.


When you teach with authority you can attract larger crowds because everyone wants to hear from someone with authority. You will become an influential man, honorable man, with very large crowd. Your influence with become limitless.

You can start today, teach someone, preach to somebody, evangelize to someone about God today. Teach someone about the commandments of God today. It starts with one person then it grows into thousands.

If you study Genesis, in the account of creation, the very last part.

We discover that the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

Actually, what God wanted to do was to recreate and the strategy was a spoken word. God created by speaking to the situation. He never spoke the negative circumstance, he spoke the promise, he spoke what he wanted. That is worthy of note.

Severally in that chapter, you see, “and God said”…. and God said”…. and God said”…. And the very last part, started with, “and God saw”

You are created in the image of God. What you say, you will eventually see.

All the things that God said in the beginning he eventually saw. The things you are saying today are the things you will see tomorrow- it’s the law of life.

… and God saw everything that he had made. And behold it was very good.

1. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)

Now you have to understand this; it is not a bad defending the rights of others, protecting other people is not a bad cause, though some people may misinterpret your cause; a lot people are of the mindset that it is not your business to defend others, they will say, “What is your own business there?” In fact some people even see you defending yourself as bad. They want you to just keep shut when you are cheated, you shouldn’t ask for justice.

Yet the Bible says you are blessed when you hunger and thirst for justice because you will be satisfied.

To be satisfied means you will get justice, it means you will get the desired results from that petition.


2. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. (Matthew 5: 7)

When you are merciful, you are kind, and you will receive kindness, when you are merciful, you are quick to forgive, and you will receive forgiveness, when you are merciful, you are compassionate, and you will receive compassion.

Let me give you an illustration; maybe you are this kind of person people always come to you for help and assistance like money, valuable advises, counseling, and any form of help, every time they come to you, you always give, you always help, you don’t care whether it’s your last penny, you don’t care whether anyone else has helped you, you always have mercy on others even when it is not convenient for you. Sometimes you may even get hurt for the help you rendered, for the mercy you showed, yet you still help, yet you still showed mercy. It is you the Bible is referring to here.

Let me authoritatively inform you today, your mercy is not wasted because the Bible says, blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

One day you will be stranded on a lonely road, it could be a broken down vehicle, it may even be in another different situation, may you need an urgent financial assistance, or you have a challenge that you need someone to advice you, and from nowhere, from someone you don’t know from anywhere, you will receive mercy.

Your vehicle might breakdown on a dangerous road full of armed robbers, rapists, and you are in danger of attack, and someone from nowhere just stops by to give you a help!

You will be wondering what you did that made the person to show you such kindness, it’s your past sowing… whatever a man sows he shall reap, good or bad!

You have been sowing good and now the Bible says, you will reap good, it says, because you are merciful are you are blessed, and because you are blessed, you will also receive mercy.

Thousands of APC supporters assembled this morning in Fatai Atere, causing a grid of traffic for motorists in the area.

Over 50 BRT buses were seen with large supporters as people chanted and danced to APC songs. The procession is in support of APC candidates for the different Local Government elective positions.

After the Israelites had demanded that Samuel give them a new leader, a king, God choose Saul. Saul was a very handsome, tall man (Like a present world “Mr. Universe”. See the way he was described in 1 Samuel 9:2, “Most handsome man in Israel- head and shoulders taller than anyone else in the land.


But because he was from the smallest town of Israel- Benjamin, even though his father was very wealthy and influential in Israel, but because Saul was from a small town, some looked down on him, so many refused to accept him as their king.

Now he has to prove his worth, he must prove that he was truly chosen by God for him to have a total acceptance throughout the entire country.

This is what happened…

A particular tribe of Israel, Jabesh-Gilead was been threatened by a powerful king called Nahash of Ammon, the king wanted to take over their entire land and kill them, but the Jabesh-Gilead people tried to bargain with him, they asked to become slaves to him on their own land, in their own town, but the king gave them another condition to accept their proposals to be his slaves in their own town (Not funny at all!)

The condition is this- they must allow him gouge out the right eye of everyone living there, then they can now become his slaves.

Meaning of Manasseh- "One who causes to forget."

It's hard to imagine that someone as righteous as Hezekiah could turn out a son as evil as Manasseh. The wicked monarch reigned longer than any other king in Israel's history - 55 years. Among his transgressions (and there were many) was Manasseh's blatant worship of idols and his practice of pagan rituals. "And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger" (II Chronicles 33:6). When God's patience had run out, he sent the Assyrians to punish Jerusalem. They put a hook in Manasseh's nose and bound him in bronze shackles and carried him off to prison in Babylon.

Women serves the Lord better than men; many women who serve the Lord are truly devoted to their service of the Lord, some notable women with achievements for serving the Lord in the Bible include:

1. Junia: there are many examples of women who served God as leaders in the New Testament church, teaching God’s truth and serving His church. The most imminent woman was Junia. In Romans 16: 7, Paul wrote “Greet Andronicus and Junia my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did”



2. Phoebe: In Romans 16:1-2, Phoebe was described as a woman. During the winter of 55-56AD Paul dictated the Book of Romans to Tertius (Romans 16:22) and sent the epistle by Phoebe, who traveled over 800miles to Rome. Paul begins chapter 16 with an introduction of Phoebe “I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. Cenchrea is a port city very near Corinth. A sea voyage from there to Rome would be well over 800miles. For Phoebe to be traveling alone, by ship this great distance carrying this letter from Paul, proves that she was a woman of considerable faith, responsibility, and bravery. Paul continues, “Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God’s people. King Amon Practiced Idolatry and Reigned a Mere Two Years

Little is recorded in the Bible about Manasseh's son, Amon. It is not known if Manasseh had any other surviving sons because he had participated in human sacrifice, burning his children alive in rituals of the worship of Molech. (2 Chronicles 33:6) What is known is that Amon was 22 when he began his reign as Judah's 15th king, and he did evil as his father had done. Amon worshiped and sacrificed to all the idols that his father had served.

Amon's father, King Manasseh, had begun his reign at the age of 12. In his youthful, unrestrained activities, he rebuilt high places and altars that his father, Hezekiah, had broken down. Manasseh re-introduced forbidden practices to the people of Judah. He sacrificed his own children in the fires in the Valley of the Hinnom. He got involved with soothsaying, witchcraft, sorcery and spiritists. All of this surrounded Amon during his formative years, and no one, even a regretful Manasseh, steered him in any other direction. “Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.” (2 Chronicles 33:9)

Bush babies are also called Galagos, they have large eyes that give them good night vision, strong hind limbs, acute hearing, and long tails that help them balance. Their ears are bat-like and allow them to track insects in the dark. They catch insects on the ground or snatch them out of the air. They are fast, agile creatures. As they bound through the thick bushes, they fold their delicate ears back to protect them.

They have nails on most of their digits, except for the second toe of the hind foot, which bears a grooming claw. The fingernails are rounded like that of human, with the exception of the second toe which is modified as a toilet claw. This pointed claw is used to groom the head and neck fur and to clean the ears. The fingers and toes have flat disks of thickened skin which aid in grasping tree limbs and slippery surfaces.
