Many times I have said again and again that people make mistake of thinking that because Jesus Christ came and died on the cross of Calvary then Christians are save and so a Christian girl can prostitute or a Christian man can embezzle money and it won’t be sin.

Very funny, isn’t it? I have had arguments with prostitutes who believe that the preaching and warnings of Prophet Hosea is for the people of that time.

So when they take up prostituting as a profession, it is okay as long as they go to church and pay their tithes.


Listen to what Jesus said here in Matthew 5:17-20, “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the Law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven”.

You are probably screaming at the top of your voice! What’s wrong with you Dan, can’t you just let you zip up! You may also be wondering how I could possibly have left Ann, a woman I adored so much. You may even like to tag me a womanizer! And say horrible things like- "Cut his dick off!" Did I just hear someone say that? I guess everyone is right, but the truth is that, the divorce was not my decision, it was Ann’s.

It still remains a shock to me how it all went sour between Ann and me. I tried severally to convince her that we needn’t separate, but she constantly maintained that it was the only option.


If you remember, I said I was beginning to have lots of problems with Ann, since Rita resurfaced in my life, the big part of it started after went for the bank training. We were regularly fighting over issues that didn't make sense and were really unnecessary. I only had peace when I wasn’t in the house.

Soon I started seeing her as a different person from the woman I married or dated. I knew there was something on her mind, but I wasn’t sure what it was, I could only guess. I sometimes feel she was seeing someone, and even before we both relocated, we were almost living differently.

One word I may use to describe Ann now is impatience! She filed for a divorce, and that was it, we got the divorce, on grounds of irreconcilable differences. We were both allowed the custody of kids, meaning, Ann could take any of the two and I could take any also. The court allowed us to change custody of the kids from time to time, as long as we agreed. But I decided it was best for the both of them to be with their mom. Especially since they were in the boarding house.

Before the divorce, one early morning, I woke up with a start. It was the telephone ringing I wondered who could be calling that early as picked the receiver, it turned out to be Rita.

“Yes’, it was the only response I could utter.

“That’s no way to say good morning”, she teased.

I didn't know why she called, but I guess she wanted to ask how I was, since I had just left her place. Since the problems with Ann was getting out of hand, I had left the house for her and moved in with Rita. I needed some time to myself, I wasn’t just going to be able to cope with distractions, and bet you, Ann was a distraction at that time.

“God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs” Matthew 5:9 (NLT)

Persecution is being treated cruelly or unfairly over a period of time especially because of your religious or political beliefs.

Another definition of persecution is to deliberately cause difficulties for someone by annoying them often.

My point therefore is; persecution is not only when you take a man and hang him on the cross for a sin he did not commit, persecution is also deliberately making someone go through a difficult situation or difficulties by making them get angry all the time.


So when you do things deliberately too often to people that gets them angry you are persecuting them.

Again I have often heard people misquote this verse of the bible to mean that God will bless those that are persecuted when they get to heaven.

Some people interpret this to mean that, when people persecute you it is criteria for you to get to heaven.

This is why you hear some Christians sing sorrowful songs to make people feel sympathy for their situations.

The subject of our discussion however is the blessing for that person who is being persecuted.

The bible did not say that you will go to heaven when you die because you are being persecuted.

No, what the bible means here is that when you are doing the right thing and people persecute you, don’t be worried. Why? Because, the kingdom of heaven is yours.

When God say the kingdom of heaven is yours, what is He saying? What He means is that it belongs to you, when something belongs to you, you can do anything you like with it. You can take whatever you like from it.

If for instance you believe in a cause, a business that God has put in your hands, some people will deliberately try to make things difficult for you by making you get angry. Or by mocking you deliberately to make you appear like a fool, probably because they cannot do what you are doing.

The bank job was very tasking and demanding. Before this time I didn’t know there would any job that would as demanding that I would feel overwhelmed some times. I hardly had time for anything personal. I was employed on contract, so I was not a regular staff of the bank, my salary could change anytime if I was able to prove the work I was doing was more than what I was being paid. It was a five year renewal contract.

I was living in one of my dream cities. It was interesting to live and work in a city I’d always dreamed of, even as a child. I think this also confirmed that fact that when you can dream it, you can actually achieve it.


I was having a ten-minute break together with Esther; one of the staffs under my unit. Aside the huge pay I was receiving, I wasn’t the head of the department, so I reported to the head of the department. If not for the pay like I said, imagine, leaving my high position where I was to. I think sometimes some decisions are necessary; one cannot stay at a place for ever, as it’s in my own dictionary- that is mediocrity!

But sometimes mediocrity can be better if you compare my own situation to that of my friend who was a bank manager and travelled to another country to become a dish cleaner- irony, I hear you say. I had a company of my own with a running capital of over a hundred million, and here I am working for pay in another country, well deserved!

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless” Matthew 5:13 (NLT)

Salt is use for sweetening food. Longman defines it as a natural white mineral that is added to food to make it taste better or preserve it.

Therefore if the bible refers to you a Christian as salt of the earth, it connotes that you are created to make the earth a better place or to help preserve the earth.



As salt of the earth you have the responsibility of making the earth a better place by teaching people to live worthy lives. You teach people how to do good and ignore evil. You help propagate the gospel by telling people about God.

Your duties as a child of God who is also the salt of the earth is to ensure that the earth meets the standards of God by always doing what is right; helping people adds sweetness to their life, helping the poor and the needy add life to them.

Haven’t you noticed that when you render help, the person you help is happy? When you make people happy God repays you.

The bible says that a salt that is no longer useful is thrown away and trampled upon. That is very serious. And that is the way of any Christian who is wicked to his brother, who refuses to give help to those in need of help. The bible says such persons will be trampled upon after being thrown away because he or she has become a worthless salt (Read Matthew 5:13)

One of the things I like about Ken is his being frank and sincere in his opinion, and I have not know him to pry into other people’s affairs, he wouldn’t ask details of what the problem is, he knows if I wanted him to know, he need not ask for me to say it.

“I don’t need to intervene?’ he asked looking at me.

“No, it’s nothing very serious’, I replied.

“Well, I think you guys can talk it over’, he said.


“I’ll try’.

“And how is your business?’

I told him about the registration and setup of the company, how far we had gone, and what we were doing at the time.

When I got home that night I told Ann I wasn’t okay with her taking the job, I gave her my reasons, which was basically on the reasons of building a home standard for the kids. She argued and gave reasons why she could go. The kids were in the boarding house and she would be coming over after every six months to spend two weeks before going back. I disagreed totally with her that night and she didn’t agree with me either.

That night we had the most serious argument that I can ever remember. At a time our voices was so high that people along the street could hear it. I was angry and it was all I could to control myself from striking her.

I didn’t sleep in the house that night for the first time after so many years of marriage. I slept in the abode of another woman that night. Abode of a woman that gives me temporary satisfaction whenever I had problems with my wife at home. I was comfortable for as long as it lasted.

It is annoying when you are poor and you go to the same church with very rich people who don’t even serve God as much as you do and yet they have it all, they commit almost all of the sins in Bible and yet they are the best in the house of God.

Yes, it is true, it is annoying, but your reason for serving God in the first place is because He is your Maker, your Creator who made you the way you are, that you are not crippled. That you have eyes, ears, that gives you the body you are looking for that cloth to cover with, that made the clay and sand that are used for building that house that you wish to build. That made the iron and steel that is used for making that car you think you don’t have!

The relationship between Ann and I had gone very sour. We decided to put the kids in the boarding house; at least they could be out of the way. Honestly I didn’t know she had been laid off work, for about a week now. We were not talking and so she didn’t bother telling me about her job loss, I only noticed she was usually at home while I was leaving for work, but I didn’t care somehow. It could be that she chose to wait till I leave the house before she does.

And also I felt since the kids were now in the boarding house, she would no longer need to get up so early.



Sometimes, using most of the applications on gadgets makes sense, especially reminder and alarm. I wouldn’t have remembered it was her birthday if not for the birthday reminder I set on the laptop. It always prompts anniversaries, events, and other activities, once I logged on to the windows.

I put a call through but she didn’t pick it until after it had rang the sixth time, I thought it was deliberate, but she said she was in the bath at the time I called.

“Bath?’ I was surprised and checked the time on the laptop.

“Bath, of course’, she replied

“Are you on leave?’

“What leave?’ she answered.

“I just hope you are okay anyway?’

“Sure I am fine. I guess you remembered my birthday” She said.

“Yes, Happy birthday to you”,

“Thanks for remembering’, she answered.

“Is that why you didn’t go to work?’ I asked still surprised.

“Work?” She asked like it had become a crime to go to work, and said, “I’ve been laid off’.

“Laid-off, when, why, how?’… I asked all at once confused.

“Do you care, why bother now?’

“See Ann, I’m very sorry to hear this. We will think of something. Please I’m really very sorry, okay?’

“Okay’. She replied.

I never thought a time would come that Ann and I would no longer be close the way we used to be, we were like distant people now, we had suddenly become strangers and I felt guilty about this.

Rita- ah, women! Hmm, I sighed and wondered about women and why God chose to make them.

I thought of stories of great men who had bad encounters because of women. Women! I thought of the stories about Solomon, Samson, David, Orunmila, even Clinton and host of others; their escapade with women, some of them lost their glory through women, I thought about Joseph who seemed to be the only one that was able to escape the hungry passion of his boss’ wife, I wonder at how he managed it. Joseph of this world of today would not have only slept with their bosses’ wife, but would have gained so much financially, and might have plotted along with the boss’ wife to kill the boss and become the heir.

I think Ann was supposed to have told me about her job loss, wouldn’t she have said it if was an accident, regardless of whatever was happening.

“I’ll see you soonest”. I said and hung up the phone. I thought it was very bad of me to have treated her badly, she must believe I didn’t care about.

Now I feel repentant and sober. Nothing has happened again after that last time between Rita and me, but we’ve both been deeply involved in the business.

It would be a great idea to close early and arrive home early so I could be with Ann. I owed it to her on her birthday. She has the right to be happy, it was my duty to make her happy, and I mean to do exactly that.

I was supposed to see Rita that night but I cancelled my appointment with her immediately. That night I took Ann out but I guess it was a very big mistake, because I over reacted over an issue.

While we were entering the lounge of a hotel, someone, a man stopped to talk to Ann. This man did not bother to notice that she was with someone not to talk of the fact that the person was her husband. Was he even aware that she was married? I wondered when she started associating with men, and even men that doesn’t have respect for her husband. Thousands of thoughts slipped through my fast thinking brain. Was she seeing someone, was she balling? My heart skipped, no she couldn’t be.

“Hi, Ann. It’s a long time we’ve not seen’. He said and I could see that he was very excited. I felt something ran down my spine I was angry, perhaps the way the man blundered on us without taken notice of me, nor even saying sorry after blundering on us in the manner he did. I thought of how manner less some people could be, even if he was balling my wife- that’s already a disrespect, now disrespecting me to my face was another ball game altogether.

People are easily carried away when they are celebrating success of job promotion, purchase of a new car, building of a new house or the birth of a new baby.

But beware! It is not everyone that comes to you to say congratulation when you celebrate or mark a success that truly wishes you well.

At her bungalow house we sat at the bar and drank while we discussed business. Discussing business with her while having drinks was becoming exciting and interesting than any other thing mattered.

I asked why she didn’t get married and she said she didn’t get to meet the right guy. I wondered about the guy she introduced to me several years back. I wondered why most ambitious women don’t get to meet the right guys, is it busy schedules, rugged and rough pasts, or pride and lack of confidence in men.

She asked if I had discussed the business with Ann and I told her I hadn’t. I didn’t feel like to discuss Ann with her. I later told her how I had been feeling about her for a while. She also told me that that she had not been able to get over me even after several years, she added that she could have proposed the business to someone else, there were lots of multimillionaires she had in her list, and she could even take the business up all by herself with a bank loan.

We ended up in one of the hotel rooms were we had lots of fun! But unfortunately I discharged just before I could penetrate her. I felt very embarrassed about it and I think I saw a smile on her face after this happened, and I was very upset about this. I think I was taking too much drinks, it affects sexual performance in a lot of ways.

I went back up to the bedroom. I was beginning to drink too much, this often happened when I am going through some emotional instability. I mixed whisky. One may never find out the effects of these things in the body until maybe there is a crisis or a health problem.

Something was obviously wrong, I think may have to do with this sudden reappearance of Rita, now I was having a strong urge to see her again, it wasn’t a feeling for sex, I think I just suddenly wanted to be around her, there was something about her that is so magnetic!

Aside liking women who are very intelligent, which she was, I think she’s got some strong character too. This is a lady who had been taking care of her needs and that of her twin since she was in school. I just have this unexplained love for talented people, particularly women. I feel better challenged when around such people, they gear me up.

Now, I sat in a chair thinking, my thoughts all revolving around Rita and it wasn’t thoughts of sex, honestly it wasn’t sex.


I slept off again, I think that helped me a bit because by the time Ann, came into the room with my food and I had eaten, I was in a bit lighter mood then. Ann advised I rested well; that I was looking stressed up and needed to rest well, so I don’t collapse.

But by morning I was in a worse spirit, this time worse that I didn’t even want to talk to anyone. I avoided everyone as much as I could. I ate in the room with excuse that I had to work something on the laptop. I was just nervous around everyone.

At the office, I was better; I concentrated on my work and didn’t receive any visitors until twelve when I took a break. During the break I called Ann.

“Dan, how’re you now?’ she asked.

“I am okay; I’m on break now, just calling you up. How is your work?’

“It’s okay ... it’s okay. What about you?’

“Okay too,’

“Are you picking the kids from school?” She asked

Dear friend, let me tell you this, no one is above temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 says, "If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure" (NLT)

Don’t say I have overcome this or I am above that; rather say by God’s grace I overcome temptations.


If Jesus Christ can be tempted no one is above temptation.

Matthew 4:12 says, “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.”

So devil can tempt anyone, in fact he tempts the righteous people more because he needs more followers. By the way why would he tempt someone who is already is follower? So the devil tempts the righteous people.

He tempted Job who was said to be one of the most righteous people during his time.

Imagine yourself being in the place of Jesus after fasting for forty days and forty nights and very hungry. You would have easily fallen for the suggestions of the devil to turn stones into bread to eat!

I put off the bed light, and slipped under the blanket, closed my eyes but didn’t sleep. She sat the way she was for about five minutes, then slipped under the blanket and faced the wall. I was melancholic that night; I think melancholy is the worse temperament to be in a relationship.

By the time we woke up in the morning, we had gotten over the matter, but I wasn’t rid with Rita, in fact I replied her mail, and told her things could be better off if we did whatever business proposals she has from distance. I didn’t want to get close to her, somehow I had very strong feelings that things may go wrong.



The year was moving fast and soon we will be visited by the company external auditors, it is usually another busy period for my unit as we have to ensure that all accounts are tidied and balanced before their arrival.

It is also a time the company was generally preparing for the year-end Board and Executive meeting.

That night Ann treated us to peppered turkey and fried rice, I haven’t had turkey in a while, I started perceiving the taste right from the gate.

Peter and Pat came all the way to meet me at the gate while driving in, guess they had missed me, I missed them too, and I was no longer having time for them the way I used too. They were fast growing into young people. They remind me a lot of my growing up, though quite different from theirs, they have almost everything they needed, that wasn’t the same as my own case, growing up.

I had lots of issues with my own parents and folks, especially during my teenage years, I think up till becoming adult and leaving them. Very wonderful people, though I use to dislike my parents for their rigid up bring, but somehow I think it eventually paid off. Most of what I learned in life were gotten during my time of fight with them, when I had lock myself up in my room and stay without talking nor seeing anyone for up to a week.

Well, sometimes I fear for the kids, hopefully they won’t be as stubborn as I was. Well, I doubt if I would have been that stubborn if my parents where different about their attitude towards life in general.

Ann met us at the lobby and she planted a kiss on my lips, while I gave her a slight hug.

“What’s big baby cooking?” I asked.

She was looking very beautiful radiant and smart. She had on a white body-hug blouse on blue straight jeans, folded to the knee.

“Something you are going to like’. She replied

“So, what are we celebrating?” I asked.

After resuming back to work after the attack and my admission at the hospital, I had so much to do at work and so I usually got home late, sometimes as late as ten. That is not a late time to some people who see it as a normal time to get home; one wonders what is chasing them away from their homes.

So this particular day, I remember calling Ann earlier to tell her that I wasn’t going to get home early. The kids were fast asleep by the time I got to the house. Ann was watching CNN. She just greeted casually with this an unusual absent-mindedness I pretended not to notice. I went to the room upstairs and after undressing went back downstairs. But as soon as I sat on a couch, Ann stood up.


“Your food is on the table, I’m going to sleep now”, she said.

“Okay”, I answered her causally too, I was not in the mood to pester her; if she wants to keep to herself, good then she has all the time in the world, because the truth is that I had so much on my hands too.

I had at moments like that spend my thinking on important things, not on things that didn’t really matter. Well, not like love is unimportant, but I tell you career and money for a man is more important than anything, if you want that woman to keep respecting you.

My thoughts swayed to the security company I had an appointment with the next day. Since after the robbery incidence, I was no longer comfortable in the house like I’d use to be. And with all these thoughts on my mind, the least of my problems at that time was love, no not love!

After eating I decided to stay back downstairs, listening to Bob-Marley, I think I must have fallen asleep on the couch. I felt someone touched me, it was Ann. I woke up immediately, the C.D Player had stopped. I checked by my wristwatch, it was a minute after twelve.

“What’s the problem?’ she asked

“I think I slept off’, I told her

“You’ve never done that before’.

“New things happen, don’t they?’ I said, feeling very tired and got up, went to the control panel for the sitting room and pulled down the electrical control, the whole lights went off.

Change they say is the only constant thing.

“Let’s go to bed”, I said, holding her across her shoulder, as we walked up.

When we got to the room, she went to the bed and sat down, she watched while I changed into my night wears and somehow I knew she was going to ask about Rita and really I was ready to explain.

So some years back, while we were still in school, I had returned from a hectic lecture, tired and looking hungry. I met Ann in the room; I can’t remember now, but I think she didn’t have lectures that day.

“Hi darling, you look very tired', she said, as she helped with my suit.

“I'm really tired', I told her

“Oh, Sorry ', she said.

“I just cooked, I'm sure you'll like to eat now"


I told her I'd preferred to rest first, on hitting the bed, I slept off. When I later woke, she served the food and we both ate. I noticed she was keeping to herself, but she tried covering up like nothing was wrong, but now I had known her too well to be deceived. Women always have one thing or the other bothering them all the time. So I decided not to bother her with her thinking.

We later went out to the movies that night, it didn't make much difference, and I think it would have been better if we had just stayed back because the movie was not even interesting. We later returned to our room, but she was still all cold. When I could no longer stand her quietness, I asked her;

“Ann what's the problem with you?'

“Dan nothing', she replied in a very harsh tone.

“You know, this is just how you start," I told her.

Mission is the purpose or the most important aim of a person or an organization.

The mission of Jesus Christ on earth is summarized in Matthew 3:11-12 where John the Baptist was baptizing new converts.

John told the people, “I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming (Jesus Christ) who is coming soon who is greater than I am- so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire” Matthew 3: 11 (NLT)


Therefore Jesus’ first mission on earth is to baptize us with the Holy Spirit and Fire.

All Christians therefore must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

His second mission is to separate the good from the bad. Those who hitherto have been confused about what is right and what is wrong will now know the truth, because, Jesus’ mission is to separate good from bad.

That is why most of his teachings throughout his stay on earth was done using illustrations showing examples of what is “good” and what is “bad”

Matthew 3:12 says, “He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire”

I tried talking but nothing was coming out of my mouth. I think I had been badly injured. I tried to get up but couldn’t, my head was too heavy, and I almost screamed out. I wasn't sure where I was and wanted to be sure nothing was wrong with Ann and the kids, but I couldn't move, I tried to tell Esther I needed to see Ann, but I couldn't talk and I became scared, perhaps, one of my senses have been affected. I just hoped my nervous system had not been damaged.

Somewhere I think I heard Ann sobbed, and my heart leap. Was she hurt, what about the kids. Hopefully none of them were hurt. I was able to do some reasoning but no one could hear me. Another thought ran through my head, could I be possible dead?



Maybe when someone is dead, like we see in movies, maybe they are able to see people while those people are unable to see them. I was sensing what was happening around, but no one seemed to notice me, maybe I was unconscious. Somehow I was sure I wasn’t dead.

It was with this thought that that I forced myself up. I was able to get up, but was immediately sent on my back by a sharp excruciating pain, running from my head down my spine and I saw stars everywhere. Before my eyes were shut off, I saw Ann as she knelt somewhere beside me.

'Dan ...., oh', she cried. I wanted to tell her not to cry, that I was just bothered about her and kids, but I couldn't talk.

'He'll be okay. I think he needs some rest', Esther told her.

Another doctor came, a male. I think they must have injected me with a sedative because I didn't remember any other thing until I woke up mid-day the next day.

I was kept in a room, downstairs; I guess they didn't want to take me up the stairs to avoid complications.

As I opened my eyes the first person I saw was Pat and I tried to smile to her, she was sitting just beside my head and touching my head lightly with her palm, and I heard.

'Daddy, please get well'. Somehow I knew I had to get well and leave that hospital bed, my kids needed me, and the home must have missed me too.

I was a bit relieved now that I had seen Pat and know she was alright, it was only Peter I was yet to see.

'Baby Pat', I called gently. I liked calling her that, she was my pet in the house.

'Daddy, daddy is awake', she runs out to announce.

'Mummy-Peter, daddy is awake'. She announced, and I heard steps coming towards the room. It was Ann entered first.

'Oh, thank God', I could see the relive as she planted a kiss on my cheek. I wanted to pull her to me and kiss her, but I could not. I missed her so much. One night of unconsciousness was enough. There are so many things I needed to know right there.

Peter came in and sat on the edge of bed.

"Sorry daddy".

I have seen some drivers over-speeding and when you caution them they are often quick to say, “It’s only God that saves those who drives slowly and those who over-speeds”

Very true, it’s God that saves everyone in all situations but do not test the Lord your God by doing things anyhow and expects Him to save you.


Jesus Christ was tempted by devil to test God and break the law of gravity. He was standing at the highest point of the temple and devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scripture says, ‘He will order His angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone” Matthew 4:5-6 (NLT)

Pride makes people do irrational things, I mean why would anyone want to jump down a cliff or from the top of a building, breaking the law of gravity deliberately just to prove that they are children of God.

It is different if you mistakenly fall off a building or cliff, by miracle God can cause something to hold you while falling, it could be a plank just somewhere at the right time, and it could be a tree that will give you just a little injury, not like falling from a building and hitting a ground.


But why would someone deliberately put one's hand into fire just because you are a born-again Christian and you expect God to save you?

You know that dangerous driving is dangerous and can lead to your death and yet because you are a Christian you say it is God that protects. Why not just go ahead and have unprotected sex with an HIV carrier and say God will protect you?

Or, how can a women sleep next to man all night, a man who is not her husband and she say, he is a nice man he will not take advantage of me, he will not rape me, or can a woman deliberately make her husband to go out to other women and say, he can do whatsoever he wants.

Hear Jesus’ response to devil when the devil wanted Him to test God, “The Scriptures also say, ‘you must not test the Lord your God” Matthew 4:7 (NLT)

Peter and Pat held my legs very firmly. I'm sure their eyes were shot too. Situations like this makes you know the worth of your close ones.

I didn't speak, I was watching every move the man made. I knew he wasn't alone, and just then, three others came out from other rooms, one was .45 pistol, while the others had automatic guns rifles.

'What do you want?' Ann spoke up.


And that was one of my problems with her, too bold even in circumstances that you shouldn't display boldness even if you are a natural bold builder. She knows not fear once it has to do with her right. But I had told her several times that you don't claim right with thugs, with crooks and armed robbers. I wouldn't be able to watch anybody hurt her.

'Hey Ann', I stopped her, calculating every move the first man was taking towards us.

'Yes what do you want?" I asked the man boldly.

'Money', he replied.

'Money- how much?' I asked. I easily get fed-up with people riding over me.

"You must have a lot", he said.

"I don't, but I want you out of my house".

The man laughed, a very thundering laughter, and I hated him even more, they were cheap crooks, they were only lucky to be in possession of guns. I wished my family wasn't there; I would have put up a fight with them, but here, with my wife and kids, no, I couldn't do that and risk one of them being shot.

'How much do you want?' I asked authoritatively and anger in my voice this time.

'Don't talk to me in that manner" he said forcing the gun to my head.

Many Christians claim to be sons of God because they are born-again. Yes it is true that you are a child of God once you have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord.

But, is that all that is required of you, just confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and continue in your sin?

No-No-No!
Call me a prophet of doom if you so wish, but I tell you the truth, God is angry with many Christians, pastors and priests because they have turned His words upside down, preaching, teaching and doing what pleases them but not following the commandments of God accordingly.
God asked the Israelites in the Old Testament through Prophet Malachi these questions, in Malachi 1:6-8

“The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says to the priests. “A son honors his father, a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where are the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name! “But you ask, ‘How have we ever shown contempt for Your name?”

Many Christians are constantly offending God in their daily conducts and dealings with Him and other people. They don’t give honor to His name and yet they claim to be His children.

Which father will be happy if his son wakes up every morning looks him in the face, without saying a good morning tells him to give him money for his welfare?

Or which father will be happy to take the left-over crumbs from his son’s table as his birthday gift? Yet many Christians would rather spend the bulk of their income on partying, clubbing and other earthly pleasures and leave just crumbs for God!
Malachi 1:7 says, “You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar. Then you ask, ‘How have we defiled the sacrifices?’ You have defiled them by saying the altar of the Lord deserves no respect”

When you pray to God concerning a thing, particularly if you are praying with conviction and faith that what you are asking God for will be granted you, God answers your prayer that instant you asked.

The fact that what you prayed for a thing and you haven’t seen the manifestation yet does not mean that God has not answered your prayer what it means is that you should be calm and patient to see the manifestation.

If you look at the wind or the things happening around you at a particular time, the chances is that you will doubt and when you doubt like that, it’s like altering what you have prayed for. God is not a man that He should lie and there is nothing He says that will not come to pass. Rather than focus on the negative circumstances, be focused on the promises.


In Habakkuk, the man of God complained to God, asking God how long it would take Him to answer his prayers, he said, “How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But you do not listen! “Violence is everywhere!” I cry, but you do not come to save” Habakkuk 1:2

The writer had been praying to God concerning the violence in his nation. But for long he got no answer from God. After a long time of praying, the Lord answered him saying;

“Look around at the nations, look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it” Habakkuk 1:5

So this is what God is saying pertaining to that prayer request you have been praying to Him for so long. He is saying you will be amazed at what He is going to do for you. He says what He will do; you wouldn’t believe it because of how great it will be. Your mind will not be able to comprehend it because of how awesome it will be.

Have you been praying for long for the fruit of the womb, He says He will bless you with twins.

Are you praying for a breakthrough in your finance and business or career, He says you will receive a financial breakthrough beyond what you have ever imagined. He says you will receive a double promotion at your place of work and your business will begin to flourish.

I pray this morning that God’s words concerning you will begin to manifest in your life from today in Jesus name.

That thing you are trusting God for, you will receive it before the end of this year in Jesus name, amen.

If you don't believe that money brings joy and other good things, start believing it now. Money change a lot of things; your thinking, perception, decisions and status. It removes all the odd things around you and with money, it means more achievements, more success and even more money.

If you have a good dream and you work towards achieving your that dream, by setting concrete goals, then you will succeed. I was very hard working, and creative young man, but that wasn't the only thing that brought about my success, you can say I was lucky, or you may prefer to call it favor, if you are a Christian! Well, in this situation I am about to narrate, I know some persons may say, I wasn't honest, but I don't think so, I think what I did was smart because if I didn't, someone else would have.



It was one of those weekends, precisely a Friday night and we expected customers overnight, so most Fridays I slept at the cafe. I still stayed over at the cafe most Saturdays till Sunday, to take care of my personal work on the Internet. I was trying to connect with people across the globe to assist with my books and other ideas, in getting them out, and was also trying a little FOREX business. Foreign exchange business was another cool way of making money here.

This night, I had stayed back like so many other nights. But there were no clients, because it was a Sunday, so I was alone in the entire large building. My small office is behind building and from my office you can see the road behind leading into the street. It was a minor road that passing through a residential area, it also leads to the port area. Industrial drainage passes from behind the building down to the collecting channel at the end of road. A manila tree shades the back of the building such that you can hardly see inside. At the back also was the large soak-away pit for the entire building and the next one.

At around one that night, I heard running footfalls and looked outside only to see three men running down the road. I need not be told before I knew they were thieves on the run. Just then I heard a police-patrol car approaching and I saw that the three men ran even faster. Suddenly, there was a gunshot. I pulled the blind to watch.

This should be a relief for the people crying to God every day to bring corrupt leaders to book. The cry of the people for punishment of the wicked and corrupt leaders has been received by God and from now on those who have stolen away the wealth of this country will begin to meet their downfall in Jesus name.

God says this thieves, embezzlers, killers and cheats will not go unpunished. They have hitherto trusted in ill-gotten wealth to the extent that they value no one. Their pride has taken over their mind and no one means anything to them.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God”
Yes they trust in themselves because the wealth they have is made through cheating and corruption. Anyone who makes wealth through the help of God will not be proud but will live a faithful life that is pleasant to God.

The word of God says, “Wealth is treacherous and the arrogant are never at rest. They open their mouths as wide as the grave and like death, they are never satisfied. In greed they have gathered up many nations and swallowed many people” Habakkuk 2: 5

Well, I didn't touch her. Instead I chose to admire the gown “Wow! It’s so beautiful”, I actually meant she and not the gown, though the gown, sincerely was very beautiful, you wouldn’t have believed she sew it.

“I am almost done with it” She said, pretending not to notice the tension in me. “The owner is expecting to get it before next week”. She said excitedly.

Call me the father of all slackers if you like. I later sat on the rug watching a horror movie, as she continued her sowing. Later she said she was tired and came to relax beside me on the rug, as she did our hands mistakenly touched and we both pretended nothing happened, and quickly looked away. I wasn’t sure what she had in mind.



I slept off forgetting that I wasn’t in my house, I suddenly woke up, not sure how long I had drifted off, probably about ten minutes. I noticed she had also slept off beside me. I still know how it happened, but we had sex twice. I can’t describe to how it happened. That was my first cheating in my relationship with Ann. I slept with another woman, not Ann, for the first time in about four years.

Somehow, I was beginning to enjoy her company so much such that I was beginning to forget Ann. We continued to see, almost every other day. Well, for everything that is not properly established, it’s never going to have a proper ending too, the affair lasted for about a week. That was the shortest affair I ever had.

I remember how it ended, The day I made up my mind to end it, I went to her place and even before I knocked on the door I knew there was a guy inside because she hardly locked her door, all the time I had been to her place, her door was always opened. But it was locked this time.

She opened the door and I immediately noticed a frown on her, then she tried to smile. There was a guy lying on the bed as I entered into the room, he was having only a boxer on, and I knew without being told that they didn’t like my presence.

“Dan, meet Barry, my boyfriend”, she introduced “Barry, this is Dan, my friend we did computer together.” She didn’t mention that I was the guy who she had been balling. Women!

Barry and I exchanged cold greetings and I told them I was just passing by and said to look her up. I left and Rita did not even bother to see me off. Somehow I was happy, since I was already looking for a way to end the unholy affair. I had cheated on Ann and wasn’t comfortable with it, now was the opportunity to stop it.

On my way out of the compound I met Jamie. Remember her? Rita’s friend I mentioned earlier. You know, I wasn’t expecting her to recognize me or talk to me because of the way she reacted towards me the first time Rita introduced us.
“Hi Dan”

“Hey Jamie”

“You didn't meet her?” she asked, pointing towards Rita apartment.

“Oh, Rita, she's in”, I answered absent minded, thinking of what to do, I planned spending some time with her, now I have to think of something else.

I think idleness is one of the greatest problems with graduating and having to wait for the National service, I think it is a whole waste of time.

Though I graduated from one of the best universities in the country, being a graduate is supposed to be an important part of anybody's life, but being a graduate, was becoming senseless, graduates are becoming beggars, commercial bike riders and the most dangerous criminals in the society.

Almost everyone suffered hardship, except for a few elites and others who ate deep into the national resources, carting away monies that could last a whole generation, while millions of other people wallow in a abject poverty.

For me, leaving school and not getting a job was not the saddest news for me, but the separation from Ann.

For more than three weeks, for someone who we spent every day with, while in school, I did not communicate with Ann. The only available means of communication then was landline table telephones which were not only very expensive but also inaccessible, network was always very poor and there was constant network failure, and you may have to book a date for probably a week to receive a call from someone around your area who could manage to have one.


You know we didn’t envisage, or didn't plan properly for a time when we were going to be separated from each other; we never stayed apart while in school, in fact we spent some holidays in school. I remember a particular Christmas holiday that we spent in school, we were so broke that we had to ask some of our classmates that lived with their family around the campus for some money on Christmas day, to enable us eat, but we still had so much fun.


After leaving school, I registered for an evening computer class. I didn't make any friend in the class, none of the students, I could reckon making friends with. Most of them where just secondary school students and a few others seeking admission into a higher institution, apart from the fact that I didn’t see myself as being in the same class as them, they could be so childish, and I wasn’t interested in any childish relationship whether with a guy or a girl. Having an affair was the least of my problem, I was contended with Ann in spite of the distance, I could not even imagine cheating on her.

Things changed a bit when I met Rita in the computer class, I was hanging somewhere outside the classroom when she approached me, she had braided and packed hair. I have always liked natural girls; I like girls with braids. She was wearing a fitted body hug blouse and from her appearance, you will easily know wasn't in the class of most of the other students. I liked her taste for fashion, simple and smart.

Idols are carved from woods, metals, clay, etc. by man or the user or the worshiper. How funny and foolish that is. Longman describes idol as a picture or statue that is worshiped as a god.

Worshiping something you created or carved with your own hands is not only foolish but also senseless. My thinking is that you should serve something or being that is stronger than you and not the other way. What you created is what should be serving you and not you worshiping or serving what you created.

At a time I use to think heaven isn't, even though I have always known that death is real but then, I thought once dead, the remains or soul of the dead, just stay somewhere in that dark, cold grave forever where the flesh will rot and decay!

Don't blame me for thinking like this, prior to this time, no preacher or teacher has ever been able to teach the subject of heaven clearly to me in the manner that I will have a good understanding of what it is. Heaven to them is a place full of enjoyment, where born again Christians will go to when the die on this earth.

Well, there’s heaven but before you can understand the concept of heaven, you must first understand the concept of creation and recreation that is only when you can understand the true existence of heaven!

Let me take you back to some stories you might already know. What we have as account of creation in Genesis 1 of the bible as also recorded by some other religious books like the Quran and others is actually an account of recreation.

You know the scientific version of creation, how man evolved from some so-called tiny cells which developed into apes and later human being.

You have also probably read or heard the Christians account of the Old earth, a very beautiful earth with dinosaurs, and all those wild animals that went into extinction. At that time there was no human on earth. It was just beautiful environment with wild animals, smaller animals, apes, fishes and birds.

Most Fridays are usually very busy, but there was always the consolation of weekend. However busy my Fridays I still ensured to close earlier. Especially this one, being my birthday. So many birthday wishes from colleagues at work and even external friends.

Getting close to the house, that evening, I could hear blaring of music from the building. Hmm, something must cooking, as soon as I parked the car, kids rushed to meet me.

“Daddy, daddy”, Peter and Pat chorused almost at once, I wonder how kids manage to echo words almost at the same time, even without planning it. Ann also came out, she had on a short bump, and a revealing blouse. Hmm, it's going to be a very swell night. I thought excitingly.


After giving a a light hug, she took my laptop bag, as I bent over to give Peter a pat on the back while I carried Pat up, she's still my best pet, even now, I enjoy carrying her so much, as she looks lovely each passing day. I have always loved the female babies, they have this special lovely nature and especially when they are beautiful.

The house had been decorated, with my best colors; blue, yellow, red and black. It looked real good,

“Wow what a surprise!” I exclaimed as I walked into the magnificent sitting room which had been transformed into a mini palace. It was really beautiful.

“When did you leave work?” I asked, surprised at the work done, they were very creative!

“At about 1pm, after picking the kids I didn’t go back to the office, we first went to the market to pick something’s before coming home”.

“You did all these by yourself?” I asked looking around the sitting room which looked like a mini palace.

“Gladys assisted” She replied.

"I really like it" I told her, giving her another hug as Joe’s “Good girls” filled the air. It reminded me of when we just met way back in the university. Joe had been my favorite musician.

“Happy birthday Mr. Dan”, Gladys comes in, I guess from the kitchen, she had on an apron.

“Thank you Gladys”, "This is so kind of you" I said referring to the cleaning, and decor.

Gladys had been with us for a while. I have often heard of bad nannies and house-helps, but not Gladys, she was like a member of the family, she had been the kids’ nanny since they were babies, right from Peter.

When they heard the words of prophet Haggai, whom the Lord their God had sent, the people feared the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger gave the people this message from the Lord. “I am with you says the Lord!”

God delights in the repentance of a sinner. It doesn’t matter the kind of sin you have committed in the past, it could have been “Advanced Fee Fraud (419)”, stealing, murder, etc.). Once you realize you have sinned, you call upon the name of the Lord, He is willing to forgive, but if you refuse to repent of your sins, continuous stagnation is inherent.
