Politics › Re: Ngige's Threat To Banks; See Labour Acts Breached By Banks: Know Your Right!!! by adaweezy(m): 11:39am On Jun 13, 2016 |
koboko69: Many Nigerians where awakened with a rude shock from the minister of labour and employment threatening to withdraw the licenses of banks who failed to obey the directives of the government on mass sack and come to the negotiation table.
It is a pity that, political differences, tribal and ethno religious hates have really beclouded the sound reasoning of many Nigerians. The honourable minister clearly stated and i qoute
“The federal government gave the licences to the banks to operate and if its directives are not adhered to the licences will be withdrawn if the need arises,” he said.
“We will go a step further if they continue. We know what to do. They need to comply. They need to come to the negotiation table. We halted the spate of sack in the oil industry and we succeeded.
“Even if you are going to lay off, there is a way to declare redundancy, there is a process. Section 20 of the labour act says it. You must call the unions and discuss with them. You don’t just treat them as slaves in their own country and you want us to keep quiet.
Unfortunately the same Nigerians being fought for have been taking a swipe at the honourable minister and the present government for this threats. Hauling all manner of attacks on the present government and the minister. It even degenerated to political party attacks. Was Ngige wrong in his assertions?
Lets take a look section 20 of Nigeria Labour Act.
Did any of the banks follow any of the processes outlined in the Labour Act?
As a matter of fact many Banks have even cowered their sraffs into a position where they are not allowed to form any union or join any union within their establishment. Many Nigerians workers don't even know this is very wrong.
Lets take a look at Section 9 subsection 6 of the Nigeria Labour Act.
Now my question is are private sectors exempted from the Nigeria Labour Act? A big NO, both private and public sectors are bounded by the Law.
Many Nigerian workers don't even know there rights are being trampled upon by their employers. If you go through all the contents of the Labour Act, you will be amazed at how much your rights have been trampled on. Unfortunately it is already a way of life, that even when a minister tries to correct the abnormally, the slavery mentality kicks in, the political differences kicks in, the hypocritical hate kicks in, and the whole process is stalled again.
Enough of hiding under the guise of scaring investors away. Any investor who have good intentions for Nigeria and her citizens, and are not coming to milk/use and enslave Nigerians will not be scared because of threats or sanctions occasioned by laid down laws being flouted. They knew the law before the came to invest. These investors abide by the laws in other countries and come to Nigeria to turnher citizens to slaves in their own country.
NIGERIANS, ENOUGH OF THIS SLAVERY MENTALITY!
Read the full Labour Act here: http://www.nigeria-law.org/LabourAct.htm
Please Note; This applies to all private sector. I only used the banks as a case study because of the honourable minister's threat to withdraw licenses of defaulting banks. Can I republish your article elsewhere? |

ayosco2008: So I had my IT placement at ministry of energy in kwara state and all I can say is that I was so amazed at the attitude of the guys working at the ministry..
On my first day of resuming to work I was dere as early as 8am to my greatest surprise all offices were still closed.. I had to wait till around 10 before I could see the first worker coming in.. I later got to find out that was the normal time they come to work.. The interesting part is most of them come to work and all they do is talk and when is 2pm u see dem going home already... I kept asking myself that is this how lovely it is to work for the government?? But I got to find out that this guys add nothing to the value of the state and these same people will complain if their salary is delayed without adding any value to their place of work!!
Fast forward two years from that time I'm now a Corp member posted to Lagos and having my ppa at ministry of works in alausa ikeja.. Well the working condition here is a bit interesting. At least they come early to work... But one thing is still common to this civil servants.. "" Their attitude towards work"" We used 3 weeks to complete a registration we could have done just in 2 days!!
This attitude shown towards work by civil servants are one of the main reason why Nigeria is still so backward and under developed(my opinion though)
What do you guys think?? Am at the ministry of justice Alausa and they are quite efficient... I was actually surprised |

korel9: Straight to the point. I've not been lucky in relationships with Christian ladies but always found genuine and true love with muslim ladies. Now I'm in another relationship with this Muslim girl and I'm ready to marry her. We both have no problem with our religion but the problem is her guardians (her dad is late and her mum, though a Christian married to a muslim man is out of reach). To top it all, she grew up with a Hausa woman who has a Kogi airforce man for a husband. As for my parents, it can be worked out. There's always been this barrier of Christian men not being able to marry Muslim ladies but the other way round is possible. Is it possible to break this barrier and make her my wife? Marry her, my dad was a Christian and he married my mum who was a Muslim at that time. |

anonimi: Should it work like that? Is this not proof of Ambode's gross INCOMPETENCE if he can't plan and conduct elections for the LGAs on time to coincide with the end of the tenures of the incumbents who were ELECTED in 2011. What would you say if Jonathan did not organise elections for Lagos state governor and lawmakers but appointed caretaker committee instead? What would you say Oga, local government chairmen elected that time had only 3 years to spend. Their ternue expired in 2014. Ambode simply removed the appointed executive Secretaries that ran the Las. Now he has appointed sole administrators to control the LGAs pending the time elections would be held in October |

Cars are fewer. |

Phones › Re: How Smartphone Makers Are Defrauding Nigerians by adaweezy(m): 7:05am On Jun 10, 2016 |
TechRez: A case where phone makers deliberate set out to rip off the wallet of Nigerians with juicy marketing, only to make a U-turn and do what they ought to do in the first instance. What do I mean? Now, I have seen a couple of phone makers make a certain phone with 1GB RAM, and then 3-months later, they release the same phone with 2GB RAM and add appellations like “Plus, Max, Pro” at the end of the original name. These OEM’s have no “trade-in” policy, they deliberately want Nigerians to dump their new phone and purchase the same phone with a re-branded name. Ouch!
For other phone makers, they make the two variant, 1GB RAM and 2GB RAM, release only the 1GB version in Nigeria and send the two 2GB version to Kenya and UAE because those countries have a government – This is fraud!
The United States has a regulatory body called FCC that checks the quality and authenticity of phones coming into their country. Even the highly rated Xaiomi had a tough time entry the U.S market because of the standards the Chinese OEM had to meet.
Over here in Nigeria, the Standard Organization of Nigeria and NCC allows anything into Nigeria, as if our dear country is dumping ground for some of these phones that should be destroyed at the shores of Nigeria.
I earlier decried the so-called Yezz Mobile Jumia wanted to flood into the market, I am glad the brand was dead on arrival. There are other OEM’s who have established their brand in Nigeria, but now take us for granted with their bizarre business policy – This is fraud, it is dumb and delusional.
It’s even more disheartening that some OEM’s create phones without parts and accessories. They don’t want to offer repair services even when they know their stuff is inferior, they want you to keep buying the same sh!t with the money they don’t deserve. http://www.techrez.com/smartphone-makers-defrauding-nigerians/ Injoo comes to mind |

afla: From the positions juxtaposed between the three camps , Wada deserves declaratory judgment.
REASONS The certificate of returns issued Bello transferred Audu's vote to Bello. That's action is in nulity.
That he entered the race without a defined deputy, he also acted in nulity.
That Yahaya Bello or Bello Yahaya is not a registered voter in Kogi State makes his decoration as governor most bizzarre
Faleke my man. A dodged fighter, a man of principle and loyal deputy Governor to Audu, your case ended with the demise of Audu but you are material for the future.
As for Capt. Idris Ichalla WADA, victory is in the air. The people are waiting, The expectations to your coming back with the loyal Deputy Awoniyi is palpable /thick in the air that it can be held both hands physically. BECAUSE If the faltered faulty footsteps of APC in the whole political lacuna vice-a-vise the illegal substitution or nomination of Bello;
encouragement of Bello to enter the race without a defined deputy;
Allowing Bello to contest without ascertaining his voters card status; Does not give the needed victory. Then you will nail them through judicial precedence of forensic evidence. Oshimole, Mimiko, Aregbesola are serving governors by virtue of this legal window of prudence.
God shall manifest that from a true heart cos there is power in my tongue. Faleke is 54 years old. |

amokeme: He Gives Up Before It Even Starts! Your destiny is too big for him, and because of that he brings up excuses (flimsy) of how you act as tho you don't need a man.. whereas, he is the weakling that can't handle your vision! Some weaklings (men) enjoy when a woman run to them for everything, they enjoy the honor and authority, but get threatened immediately she is able to clean her own mess and take charge of her own life. As FOCUSED women, we don't need such negativity in our life, we don't need weaklings that call themselves men (infact, I consider it an insult to the real MEN out there. It's pathetic they have to share same sex with the weaklings) The bottom line is this; As a woman going somewhere to happen, you can't afford to be with just any man... No! It shatters the vision, it truncates your destiny and it discourages God to help you get to where you are going. So don't let any man belittle you because of his Primitiveness. You are too much for him and he just can't understand the grace upon your life... don't ever feel you are lonely because you are not. The author of your life is with you and he will finish what he has started. So don't let any weakling get in the way of where God is taking you. At the appropriate time, he will bring the befitting king. You just keep being a queen anyways A man can only love you best when he loves God first. The bolded without the religious antonations epitomises every trait of Misandry. |

legundarybeans: Hello NL's i really don't know where to post this. but i think the mods should be able to help me with the right location. This happened to me yesterday 23/05/2016........Ok i happen to have a samsung s4 phone which i planned to swap because of the following issues, bluetooth nd wifi not working, charging port works but instead of charging the phone would be discharging, cos of this, i have to use a desktop to charge, also its boils like hell!, faulty touchpad, little bit cracked screen, all the air gestures are not working, and extremely faulty to the core, with all this problems, my plan was not to spend a dime on the phone again cos have spent quite alot on trial and error engineers(abt 15k) cn u imagine? ....having heard of all what computer villa guys do to people i set out yesterday, to be on a safer side i had it in mind that when i get there i would try and locate a 'jolly just come' in CV that does swap (judging by face sha)with a mind set that i was gonna "chop hin eye" with a phone swap. of course,i was not planning to tell them all the problems it had,(having it in mind that they won't discover all no matter what)......(me sef won form smart)......of course i smart na!...... not knowing that its my own eye tha'ts gonna be 'chopped'. on getting to CV, as usual i met those guys at the entrance, after checking out the one i wanted transact business with.i told him what i wanted, I.E a samsung s5 which i was planning to swap with my s4. After checking the phone normally, He only noticed like half of the problems.... (maybe cos of the mischief he himself was up to)....he confirmed that he did not have an s5 and that even if i get i would have to part away with alot of money b4 i can aquire it cos of the condition of my phone..... well i did't have much on me so i thought of opting for something lesser.........seeing this, he then brought out a BBZ10, along the line i got interested, tho the phone looked ok.it had some deep shit within which i didn't easily locate wen checkin, maybe its cos of the condition of my phone i didn't check well sha,i don't really know.Though i wanted to take the phone to an engineer to check if there was anything wrong with it, i forgot, maybe this was because of what i had up on my sleeves or his juju was more powerful.....i dont really know....after arguing and debating we agreed to make the swap with "my almost dead s4",balancing him with some money. thinking av outsmarted in my way i hopped off happily........ On putting my "mtn" sim in the phone in another shop where i do get battries i noticed the phone was bringing out "glo" network..... ah mogbe! that was only the beginning....as there was still more to come, extending my check, i opened the back of the phone to check what was wrong, as i did that, about 3 bolts fell out.... yeeeh! aH! na so i won dey cry......giving the phone to another person to check it out, i was told that av been sold a total scrap! omo wetin i fit do? nothing o! cos me sef i know the phone i bin give the guy too sef na problem phone....but i checked this phone nw, i didnt notice anything, he even had a missed call b4 i collected it..... so how come e dey see alien network?.....na who i go aski o?....... the thing wey pain me pass na the raba wey i give ham,,, i wont mention the amount at all cos e still dey pain me........... chai! my hard earned savings!..... Well my main aim of this post is to tell the public to be VERY careful of this guys in CV, most especially those that don't know about their antiques....tho av bin hearing of their pranks, i believed i would never be a victim of it..... please take extra caution whenever you are in CV, anytime you have to go there you can go with som1 experienced and dont ever do any business with those roadside boys... none of them are to be trusted!.....its better you save up and buy a good cheap phone than having yourself duped.......if you have any experience to share pls do so that people can get more insights on being extremely careful in CV. Since I assume, that you are familiar with the aforementioned section, kindly read it out to us, as you know that lay people like us don't carry around the criminal codes of Lagos state in our pockets.
I am just curious to see under what context the law says that a person that does not pose an existential threat to the society can be detained for 30 days or more without a Single charge.
Pls forgive my curiosity. 264(1) "Any person arrested for any offence triable on information shall within a reasonable time of arrest be brought before a Magistrate for remand and the Magistrate shall have powers to remand such a person after examining the reasons for the arrests exhibited in the request form filed by the police, and if satisfied that there is probable cause to remand such person pending legal of the Director of Public Prosecutions or the arraignment of such person before the appropriate court or tribunal" Abacha vs the state, bamayi vs the state and Fawenhinmi vs the state all agree that of a person can influence proceedings whilst free then such a person should not be granted bail. |
