Politics › Election 2019: Why Twitter Suspended Top Nigerian Influencers by adaweezy(op): 6:47pm On Feb 15, 2019 |
Social network Twitter has revealed why it suspended some influencers' accounts ahead of Nigeria's 2019 election scheduled to commence tomorrow.
The management of the micro-blogging platform told Business Insider SSA by Pulse, that the accounts were suspended to amplify election-related information from legitimate sources and bring down ‘some problematic accounts’ ahead of Nigeria’s 2019 general elections.
Amy Rose, a Twitter spokesperson, who confirmed that Twitter suspended some influencers’ accounts ahead of Nigeria’s 2019 election, said they are collaborating with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and domestic political party stakeholders to “ensure they have clear reporting channels to bring potentially problematic accounts or content to our attention.”
“We have suspended a small number of accounts in Nigeria for spam violations as part of our election integrity efforts in the region.
“We will continue to monitor the conversation closely and take aggressive action pursuant to the Twitter Rules,” Rose told Business Insider.
Some of these Nigerian Twitter influencers’ accounts include Badmus Hakeem (Tweets @Bhadoosky), Jokunle (@Jokunle), Ani Nomso (@ani_nomso), Shawnife (@Shawnife_), Official Bmax (@OfficialBmax), Uche Kush(@UcheKush_), Lazy Writa (@LazyWrita), Rouvafe (@Rouvafe), Abdulaxis (@iam_abdulaxis), Switchme, Enekem Greg (@EnekemGreg).
Digital Economy Lawyer Adavize Alao expressed suprise at the step taken by the social network. The legal practitioner stated that the micro-blogging platform failed to suspend the paid political influencers but rather went after entertainment inclined influencers who have little or say in the electoral process. https://www.lawyard.ng/why-twitter-suspended-top-nigerian-influencers/

Politics › Nigeria Listed By EU As Money Laundering Haven by adaweezy(op): 8:59pm On Feb 13, 2019 |
Nigeria has been added to a blacklist of nations that pose global threat because of leniency as it relates to controlling financial activities of terrorists, as well as money laundering.
The European Commission also added Saudi Arabia, Panama, and other jurisdictions to the blacklist, the EU executive said on Wednesday.
According to Reuters, low sanctions against money laundering and financing terrorism, insufficient cooperation with the EU and lack of transparency regarding company beneficiaries, constitute the criteria used to blacklist countries.
Being on the blacklist does not only constitute reputational damage, it will also complicate financial relations with the EU, as the bloc’s banks will have to carry out additional checks on payments involving entities from listed jurisdictions.
Digital Economy lawyer Adavize Alao explained to LawyardNG that this action would complicate financial transactions with the EU as extra scrutiny would be given to fund transfers originating from Nigeria. He further added that EU in circulating this list across its member states would embark on comprehensive Due dilligence on every fund with Nigerian origin and this would make Nigerian transactions easy pickings for the EU member state FIUs https://www.lawyard.ng/nigeria-listed-by-eu-as-money-laundering-haven/ |

Now the Chairman and Vice have been asked to stay away from the meeting, has that prevented them from been properly constituted? mind you, justice Tanko has no hand in this case, but was asked not to come. And it's you who should be checking your brain, as it turns out people who know nothing are the ones who turn to insult people the most. For your information the quorum for the NJC is 2/3 so how does one man's absence prevents it from holding a meeting? please make researchs before quoting someone Olodo Who told you NBA has one representative? Tetehjewels: You must be a learner.
The 3 arms of government are not totally independent of each other.
The only arm of government that sometimes is Independent is the executive and that is due to the fact that it has been empowered to issue executive orders which is also law and does not require the input of the legislature or judiciary. Executive orders are illegal. |

Tetehjewels: The CCT has suspended his trial indefinitely
The law is on the side of the CCT.
His suspension just became an indefinite one.
His case keys have been thrown into the sea.
Court of Appeal cannot counter the CCTs punishment recommendation as supported by the powers vested on them by our constitution. Olodo. The outcome of the Court appeal's decision would render such stance posited by you invalid. The CCT committed an ultra vires act in excess of its statutory responsibility. The actions of the so called acting CJN and the CCT are serious misconducts that cannot be allowed to stand and would be punished appropriately by the relevant regulatory bodies. Further to the above the affected officials are liable to compulsory retirement from respective position and possible disbarment for CCT & CCB officers |

Nonsooke: https://static.ynaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/06103922/Unilag-1.jpg
This might be a long read so please bear with me.
So August 2018, the Faculty of Law had their presidential elections and after a long and hard fought battle, a winner emerged. Let’s call the winner “A” and the person in second place “B”. I am using pseudo-names because the school has a rule that has barred students from putting the school in “disrepute” and I wouldn’t want to get the innocent students in trouble.
Anyway, two years ago, the school made a rule that students that have ever been matriculated in another school cannot hold any elective position. But A who won the election was once offered admission into YABATECH. He paid the acceptance and school fees but he never turned up for the matriculation neither did he sign the oath which technically means he was not matriculated but the fans of B made it an issue and petitioned the school authorities. The issue should be a straight one right? But it turned into such a huge issue that the winner was advised to step down so as to not allow it degenerate into something bigger than it is. So he stepped down as president-elect Now the question is that should the runner up, B become the president elect and by effect the president when school resumes bearing in mind that 1. He is not the candidate voted for by the majority 2. The winner has not technically broken the rule but the school’s draconian rule is making this an issue 3. What becomes of a democratic process when the majority of the electorates do not have faith in him and this casts a shadow on the process altogether.
All these issues won’t come up if the school hadn’t come up with ridiculous electoral regulations. And also the issue of threatening students with expulsion if they speak against the school who does that in a democracy? And these same people will be on social media abusing leaders…
What do you think? Who is the idiot that resigned ? |

zoba88: Barely two weeks after they tendered their resignation to the New Direction government of Kogi State, Odaudu Joel Minister and Nana Akor have joined Dino Melaye's camp.
Minister and Akor before their resignations were Senior Special Assistants to the state governor on New Media and Women Affairs.
In his resignation letter, Minister had stated that he bowed out for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, Dino Melaye who will be slugging it out with Yahaya Bello's Senatorial Candidate for Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi in the forthcoming general elections took to social media in his usual manner to mock Gov. Yahaya Bello.
Dino posted his pictures with Minister and Akor on his instagram page, welcoming the duo "back home."
"Hon Nana, Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Women Affairs has seen the light. Resigns from the evil gang called government," Melaye posted.
Added to Dino's Camp is Oladele John Nihi who was regarded the" Number 1 Kogi Youth"under Bello's government.
Nihi fell out with the New Direction government and resigned as the State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, following the government's refusal to support his aspiration for the National Headquarters of NYCN.
