Evening great engineers and O&G professionals. i am a fresh graduate of petroleum engineering and due for national service by november. my dilemma is that my folks what me to skip service and go for masters maybe a phd in the US and possibly settle down there, but am worried about the ripple effect that would have on my professional career suppose i return to Nigeria in future for an opening. i remember one certain time that the minister of petroleum almost lost her job because of an accusation from the national assembly that she didn't participate in the compulsory one year service. she countered it by providing proof in pictures and discharge certificate. please i would like to know my odds because i feel there are more opportunities for me here than in a foreign land plus i can fast track my career as a professional if i serve here. left for them i ll be shipped off tonight if it where possible, its that serious. advice needed here please

Pls how can I root my grand duos and make it faster?

I recently upgraded my grand duos to 4.2.2 after being notified by the device for a while that an upgrade was available. The phone is quite slow but since I upgraded, it has become worse. It hangs terribly and at times apps I want to open won't work. I just bought an 8 gig memory card but no improvement. All functions from switching it on,to typing, to browsing taking and viewing photos, playing music, take forever to open not to talk of navigation. At times someone calls and the phone is ringing but the answer screen won't come up. Place gurus help me out of this nightmare cos I am regretting upgrading it.

The monorail project is something that can make life better and easier for the people of rivers. If the past leaders we had started innovations like this am sure we won't be here talking about good roads and clean water. Amechi has done well no matter his shortcomings. Did berger not construct eleme junction? Did someone here not say the place now needs repairs. Even when setraco was to construct East West Road. Was one of the white men not kidnapped when they got to choba area which led to stalling of the project for weeks? Did Amechi kidnap him? If the next government can continue from where he stops and start addressing the shortcomings in this present administration rather than out rightly abandoning them to initiate new projects without completing old ones, we ll be heading towards a better Rivers State. The greater phc is an attempt to decongest the city and would take time to actualize same with the monorail. Will Amechi and his family members be the only ones to benefit from these projects after completion? Is he doing the monorail for himself only? Won't Rivers people benefit from it? If you actually live in Rivers State you ll know that he has tried. And if not for the crisis in the state is doing more..Pls we should try and be objective when we address issues.

duerap: You have the facts...The so called Federal Govt is just a huge beast fighting against the territorial enclave called Nigeria.
Time and time again, reasonable citizens have advocated for resource control by federating states but those who donot understand the true meaning of Fiscal Federalism prefer to die with ethnic and political sentiments. Things will continue to be the way they are if not worse, until all nigerians begin to reason and see that true federalism is the way out of this jungle.

Most times people don't understand what they re getting into when they decide to spend a lifetime with someone. Life itself is a gamble filled with various levels of challenges dat can either make us stronger or break us down completely. I have seen men marry blind women. Women wed crippled guys, seen a guy stay faithful to his bed ridden wife for years till she passed on. And I ask myself is this the love we all know or something else? . Op this is a path she must thread herself and I think she knows her answer already, she just needs backup that her decision is justified. Whatever decision she makes she must be prepared to live with the consequences. Not an easy one for her I must say.

Op. I like your approach in relationships however I feel you went overboard on this one. Blame it on love or adrenaline. No body forced you to do anything for her. getting back the car shouldn't be your problem at this time. You should concentrate on moving on with your life n forget everything about her including the ride. However if you really want the ride back. Get a team of heavily armed police men and a towing van. I am guessing the car has a tracker. Make sure that it is done in public by the road side, and the car is yours. Always tip the police men n carry enough cash with you. Also dont forget to take the original documents with you when going to recover it. Lastly dont inform her of your plan jux lock up.
