Romance / Re: 1 Of My Best Friend's Constant Veneration On My Mom :( by AdeCharity: 7:21am On May 29, 2012
REALITY101: Good-day guys. . .

What's your take on this, When your male friend(s) admires your mom most of the time especially in a kinda of lustful way. I have this Arab so called christian friend, we been friends since 3rd grad. This guy admires my mom more than all my other friends and I sometimes feel like this crayfish friend of mine is slightly disrespecting me.

I know I'm domineering when it comes to my family especially the females. I tried eluding him coming over to my house whenever I have my mom around just to avoid getting mad at him because I am sick and tired of his uhmm compliment? My mom is a dedicated christian but"not religious" if you know what I mean.

There's nothing wrong in accompaniment but I guess reading meanings into it comes with how you use the word(s)

I have told him in that past about this but he seems to have the ear like a cave lizard. In this situation what would you do?

Politics / Re: Jonathan’s Aide Demanded N5m For Access To President by AdeCharity: 1:44pm On May 28, 2012
supoade: There was a twist at a ministerial platform programme in Abuja, on Friday, as one of the participants accused an unnamed Principal Secretary to President Goodluck Jonathan of demanding N5 million before he (the participant) could be allowed to meet the President.

Saturday Tribune, which was at the National Press Centre, venue of the programme, observed that other participants comprising diplomats were stunned when Pastor Jason Nworah made the allegation.

Friday’s programme witnessed the highest number of diplomats so far, ostensibly due to the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Olugbenga Ashiru.

Nworah had attended virtually all the platform programmes which had run for about two weeks now and habitually asked questions.

At the event, where Ashiru and his counterpart from the Ministry of Interior, Abba Moro, made presentations, a visibly angry Nworah, who is the National President of Youth Organisation for Unity and Total Harmony of Society (Youths), alleged that he had approached the Presidency with a proposal on how the country could attract direct foreign investment, only to be told that he had to part with the sum of N5 million before he could get the attention of the President.

He said the proposal was “before the desk of the Principal Secretary to President Jonathan.”

The programme was aired live and monitored locally and internationally.

None of the members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), who were present at the programme, made effort to debunk the allegation.

The allegation came as the administration of President Jonathan said it was fighting graft and was determined to stamp it out.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Ghana To Deport Illegal Immigrants by AdeCharity: 1:31pm On May 28, 2012
jookco: Ghana plans to deport illegal immigrants who were drawn to the country by its economic growth and prevailing stability.

Most of the foreigners are into retail business and illegal gold mining while others are in the oil sector.

Some citizens from the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) have, however, read xenophobia in the plans.

Despite this, the Ghanaian authorities seem resolute, and have set a June 30 date to flush out the illegal immigrants engaged in the retail business.

This, they say, is line with the country’s investment regulations. The rules restrict retail businesses to Ghanaians only.

A task force to implement the directive has already been put in place by the Ministry of Trade and those to be worst hit are Nigerians and Chinese who have set up shops in Accra city centre.

On May 16, officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) arrested two Chinese for engaging in commercial activities.

After the arrest, the officials said: “It was in line with the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s national policy to get rid of foreigners in the country’s retail business.”

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Law, Act 478, Clause 18, stipulates that “the sale of anything whatsoever in the market, petty trading, hawking or selling from a kiosk at any place is a wholly reserved activity for Ghanaians”.

A number of Chinese have also been busted over the past few weeks for engaging in illegal mining in some parts of the country.

Last month, the police had to step in to avoid a blood-bath when youth groups in the northern region went on the rampage to flush out Chinese they claimed were destroying the environment with their illegal mining activities.

Addressing immigration staff in Accra, Interior minister William Aboah ordered the director-general to conduct investigations into how some immigrants entered the country illegally, while others were able to be issued with work permits though they did not have any arrival stamps in their passports.

“There is a growing perception and reports that the country is being flooded by illegal immigrants,” said Aboah, adding: “The issue of their entry into the country is being questioned. Some managed to acquire work permits through the back door while others continue to stay in the country illegally.”

He said some of the illegal immigrants who were arrested were found with weapons. Investigations showed that most of them did not have the required work and residence permits while others had fake permits in their passports, he added.

“These are serious issues which undermine the security of the country,” said Aboah.

As the authorities try to tighten the laws on immigration, some of the Ecowas citizens engaged in retail trade have complained about unfair treatment.

“The Ecowas protocol is clear on citizens from the community and their rights of abode in member countries and, therefore, what the Ghanaians are doing border on xenophobia,” said Lucky Eze, a Nigerian trader.

Health / Re: Sacked Lagos State Doctors Lobby To Be Reinstated by AdeCharity: 12:46pm On May 28, 2012
Mynd_44: LAGOS — Indications emerged, weekend, that some of the 788 doctors sacked by the Lagos State government are now lobbying to get reinstated.

Investigations by Vanguard revealed that some of the doctors have started responding to the queries they had earlier refused to respond to. They are banking on the support of top officials in the ministry to influence their reinstatement.

An impeccable source from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, disclosed to Vanguard that some of the doctors that are making moves under ground confessed that they were already tired of staying at home as they have mouths to feed and bills to pay.

The source who pleaded anonymity, further noted that top officials within the ministry were still considering using their influence to get the doctors reinstated.

It was also gathered that the doctors’ request might be granted since even the ministry have been having challenge recruiting new doctors.

Currently, many of the doctors were not happy with the recalcitrant position of their leaders on their agitation but were cooperating in order not to rock the boat of the struggle.

“Even the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, National President, Dr. Osahon Enabulele is not happy with position of the Medical Guild on the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, CONMESS, issue but he is afraid that he might be impeached if he fails to dance to the tune of the doctors. I had a meeting with him last Thursday when he confided in me,” the source said.

According to him, the elders in the medical profession were not happy with the way the sacked doctors have turned strikes into object of blackmail, saying they were ready to call strikes at the slightest provocation, stating: “Even if you mistakenly hit one of them on the leg, they may decide to call for as strike.”

It’s an attempt to break our ranks - Odusote

But in a swift reaction, the Chairman of the Lagos Medical Guilds, the umbrella body of the sacked doctors, Dr. Olumuyiwa Odusote, described the insinuation that the doctors were lobbying to get reinstated by the state government as a blatant lie, saying “it is an attempt to break our ranks.”

AGPMPN begins free health services

Meanwhile, Chairman Association of General Private Medical Practitioners, AGPMPN, Lagos Chapter, Dr. Olayinka Oladosu has announced at the weekend that beginning from today, the association would start offering free health services especially emergency cases to residents of Lagos carrying the cards of public hospitals following the total collapse of health services in public hospitals across the state.

He said: “We have about 84 centres across the state where people can access free health across the state. The information at our disposal about loss of lives is alarming and we are grieving about this. These are the lives we cannot create. We believe the provision of this service will provide succor to the masses.”

Oladosu said the AGPMPN, Lagos State Branch would not seat back and go against the Hippocratic Oath that its members had sworn to. “The association is not forcing any of its members to create this succour lines. Similarly, no one is forcing the AGPMPN to do it.”

Giving a breakdown of the facility created to address the problem of total shut down of public health facilities in Lagos; Oladosu said there would be an average of seven centres to serve as succor lines in each local government in Lagos State.

Explaining why this plan became necessary, the National President of AGPMPN, Dr. Anthony Omolola described the situation in Lagos as a period of sober reflection. “It is a time to sympathise with Lagosians,”

According to Omolola, the information at the disposal of the leadership of the AGPMPN is that the loss of lives this period is quite alarming and is grieving members of the association because “We cannot make life and we should not make life to be departed.”

Politics / Re: Democracy Day Church Service: GEJ Refuse To Say "Amen" To Anti-corruption Prayer by AdeCharity: 9:13am On May 28, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan, governors, ministers and top government officials on Sunday failed to demonstrate a public commitment to the fight against corruption.

At the interdenominational church service held at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, to commemorate the 2012 National Democracy Day, the guest preacher and immediate past Prelate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Peter Akinola, in his sermon, challenged the congregation to join him in the fight against corruption in the country by committing perpetrators to God.

But the congregation, including the President, who was accompanied by his wife, Patience, the Governor of Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson and Kaduna, Patrick Yakowa, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Dameshi Luka, as well as some ministers failed to respond to prayers to take corrupt officials “to the court of God.”

Apparently, expecting to hear a thunderous YES from the congregation, the Reverend, who instead got a deafening silence, exclaimed: “There you go! Oh, corruption! So, you are not ready to fight it, because you are all beneficiaries of it. Whether you steal in a small or big way, stealing is stealing."

Apparently disappointed with the response he got, the clergyman shot angrily at Mr. Jonathan and his delegation, “See, it is very clear. You are not interested in fighting corruption. If you do, let us take our case to the court of God, if you dare. Who is deceiving who? You are only deceiving yourselves, not God. And you who is stealing government funds, subjecting the poor to untold hardship; you who steal oil subsidy money, making Nigerians pay for fuel through their noses; you who steal funds meant for improving our power supply, deliberately making Nigerians live a life in utter darkness, will you repent today? I doubt it!"

Before throwing the challenge at the president and other officials at the Service, Mr. Akinola had delivered a homily on the destructive impact of corruption on Nigeria.

“This hydra headed monster (of corruption) has literarily taken over the soul and eaten up the fabric of Nigeria,” Reverend Akinola said. “Officials steal our public funds openly by the pen, while others steal by the power of the gun. Successive governments have declared half-hearted war against corruption to no avail. We know only too well that the fight against corruption is largely selective directed at those opposing the government, with no strong political connection.

“Many of those fighting it (corruption) in police and Judiciary have no clean hands. When any National Assembly Committee or any government agency is inviting anybody for questioning it is because those being investigated have not yet given the agency inviting it their due share of the booty.

“Worse still, those who have cleverly made away with public funds and are living above their legitimate incomes are those who are being honoured by traditional rulers, who make them chiefs and high chiefs. Recently, our universities have joined the queue by inviting those people and giving them some baseless honorary doctorate degrees.Sadly, therefore, corruption will continue in full gear, because Nigerians and the government only pay lip service to its eradication. But, I believed as a Christian, as a preacher, as one who reads the Bible, there a way out."

He continued, “Corruption in a narrow sense is another name for stealing. Stealing is a sin God commands us all not to commit. As you know every soul that sins and fails to repent shall die in his sin and end up in hell. So, let us resolve here today to take to the court of God, beginning from this place, all those thieves, who have failed to repent. Will you join me?

“You who steal the money for road construction, leaving our roads in a state of disrepair, causing several accidents and untimely deaths of thousands of our people, their blood is crying to the creator. You who steal the money earmarked for healthcare delivery, thereby running down and turning our hospitals into mortuaries; you who have destroyed our educational system, because the money meant for schools never got to them; you who make laws to inflate costs included in the budget, are you listening to me?

“All of you, whoever you are, greedy, arrogant politicians and officials who are in government only for what you can steal from it and virtually nothing to contribute to national development and has turned Nigeria into a wretch, repent job vacancies in telecom. Click: www.wealthandhealth.com.ng

Celebrities / Re: Charly Boy - I'm Gay & Head Of The Illuminati In Nigeria by AdeCharity: 5:50pm On May 27, 2012
ifebosco: Controversial maverick entertainment personality, Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has set another record with his confession that he is gay. By so confessing, he becomes only the second publicly known gay man in Nigeria.

This is a record that Pastor Rowland Macaulay beat him to by being the first Nigerian to openly come out and even establish a church that catered for only gays. Those who know Charly Boy well however say he’s not someone who likes being a follower. He’s always a leader in everything he does and he’s now ready to take his rightful leadership position in the gay world. Continue to read…

In an interview with a new publication, Danfo Express, Charly Boy declared that he is gay and not ashamed of being gay.

Even as he made other disclosures about himself, he didn’t forget to add that he is the head of the Illuminati in Nigeria, the same Illuminati that people accuse Jay-Z, D’Banj and Don Jazzy of being members and they keep denying membership. While his audacious revelations might seem like a publicity stunt on his part, let’s not forget the popular saying ‘there’s no smoke with-out fire’.

Still, I guess it is romantic for self-delusional adults , without engaging pragmatic and practical reasoning, to pontificate that they will be better off once on their own.

Politics / Re: Illiteracy Rate In Nigeria Is Up To 70% - Vc by AdeCharity: 4:09pm On May 27, 2012
OAM4J: 70 per cent of Nigerians are illiterates -VC

The Vice-Chancel lor of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Professor Isaac Adewole, has painted a gloomy picture of education in the country, saying that about 70 per cent of the population are illiterates in a time most countries in the world have been rolling back the frontiers of ignorance.

Professor Adewole stated this at the weekend in an opening remark as the chairman of a Read Dinner and Award night in commemoration of the 2011 World Literacy Day held at the banquet Hall of the Premier Hotel, Ibadan.

He said the country, rather than arrest the drift towards poverty of knowledge, was already preparing grounds for future illiterates with about eight million Nigerian children out of school.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented at the occasion by Professor Clement Kolawole, said that education data survey of Nigerians between the age of 19 and 50 showed that only 20 per cent of males in the category could read and write, while 70 per cent could not, whereas about 50 per cent of females in the same category were literate.

He attributed the development to lack of attention to the education sector, adding that the situation would become gloomier unless conscious efforts were made to promote reading culture, as well as explore the use of indigenous languages as languages of instruction in schools in the country.
