You call yourself igbo but don't knw anything about Biafra. Shut up and bury your head in shame. Did Ojukwu suddenly declare Biafra? What prompted him was it not the killings of thousand ofEasterners after the second coup? Easterners where being masscare in thousands in their own country.
You need to stop displaying your ignorance in the public domain. The July 1966 coup was a fall out of the January 1966 coup that was spearheaded and executed mostly by young Igbo army officers namely Major Kaduna Nzeogwu, Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna among others. The casualties of the coup included the Prime Minister Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Sardauna of Sokoto Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of the Western Region Samuel Akintola, the finance minister Festus Okotie-Eboh and senior military officers among others. Okotie-Eboh is of Urhobo extraction from Uwherun in then Mid-Western region, then Bendel, now Delta. So the major casualties cuts across the entity called Nigeria then except the Easterners (Igbos).

The July 1966 counter coup was a fall out of the January coup. After the killings of mostly Northern extraction political and military officers, Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi then assumed power, forcing the civilian government to cede authority. He established a military government led by himself as supreme commander. In the months following the coup it was widely noted that four of the five army Majors who executed the coup were Igbo and that the General who took over power was also Igbo. It was feared that the Igbo had set out to take control of the country this led to the fear of Igbo dominance in the North.

Ironsi did little to allay the fears of Igbo domination. He failed to place the coup plotters on trial as northern leaders demanded, and he appointed Igbos to sensitive governmental positions. Against all advice, Ironsi promulgated Decree Number 34 of 1966, which abrogated the federal system of government and substituted a unitary system; he argued that the military could only govern in this way. Given the already charged atmosphere, this action reinforced northern fears. As the north was less developed than the south, a unitary system could easily lead to southerners "taking over control of everything," as a northern spokesperson put it. It was at the height of northern opposition to unitarism that the countercoup of July 1966 took place.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ojukwu was in Kano, northern Nigeria, when Major Patrick Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu on 15 January 1966 executed and announced the bloody military coup in Kaduna, also in northern Nigeria. It is to Ojukwu's credit that the coup lost much steam in the north, where it had succeeded. Lt. Col. Odumegwu-Ojukwu supported the forces loyal to the Supreme Commander of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Major-General Aguiyi-Ironisi. Major Nzeogwu was in control of Kaduna, but the coup had failed in other parts of the country.

Aguiyi-Ironsi took over the leadership of the country and thus became the first military head of state. On Monday, 17 January 1966, he appointed military governors for the four regions. Lt. Col. Odumegwu-Ojukwu was appointed Military Governor of Eastern Region. Others were: Lt.-Cols Hassan Usman Katsina (North), Francis Adekunle Fajuyi (West), and David Akpode Ejoor (Mid West). These men formed the Supreme Military Council with Brigadier B.A.O. Ogundipe, Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters, Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon, Chief of Staff Army HQ, Commodore J. E. A. Wey, Head of Nigerian Navy, Lt. Col. George T. Kurubo, Head of Air Force, Col. Sittu Alao.

By 29 May 1966, there was a pogrom in northern Nigeria during which Nigerians of southeastern Nigeria origin were targeted and killed. This presented problems for Odumegwu Ojukwu. He did everything in his power to prevent reprisals and even encouraged people to return, as assurances for their safety had been given by his supposed colleagues up north and out west.

On 29 July 1966, a group of officers, including Majors Murtala Muhammed, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, and Martin Adamu, led the majority Northern soldiers in a mutiny that later developed into a "counter-coup". The coup failed in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria where Ojukwu was the military Governor, due to the effort of the brigade commander and hesitation of northern officers stationed in the region (partly due to the mutiny leaders in the East being Northern whilst being surrounded by a large Eastern population).

On acknowledging Ironsi's death, Ojukwu insisted that the military hierarchy be preserved. In that case, the most senior army officer after Ironsi was Brigadier Babafemi Ogundipe, should take over leadership, not Colonel Gowon (the coup plotters choice), however the leaders of the counter-coup insisted that Colonel Gowon be made head of state. Both Gowon and Ojukwu were of the same rank in the Nigeria Army then (Lt. Colonel). Ogundipe could not muster enough force in Lagos to establish his authority as soldiers (Guard Battalion) available to him were under Joseph Nanven Garba who was part of the coup, it was this realisation that led Ogundipe to opt out. Thus, Ojukwu's insistence could not be enforced by Ogundipe unless the coup plotters agreed (which they did not).

The fallout from this led to a standoff between Ojukwu and Gowon leading to the sequence of events that resulted in the Nigerian civil war. These are links for you to educate yourself -

https://www.nairaland.com/482611/northern-counter-coup-1966-full-story.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._Odumegwu_Ojukwu

Authors of books on 1966 coups have somethings in common -
1. The Igbos (Easterners) drew the first blood and the Northerners revenge was deadly.
2. Leadership tussle between Gowon and Ojukwu led to the civil war.
3. The civil war could have been avoided if the two opposing leaders has let common sense to be common to them.

In conclusion, it is time for the igbos to stop playing the victim card and their various hate speeches. The IPOB leaders need to stop feeding their people lies, give the people cogent reasons why the Igbos wants self determination.

To people like you the points are baseless because it is not your good brother was killed. Go to the families of those killed, they will be asking so many questions with no one to answer them.

Give me an example of a non public place that they gathered and the police shot at them.

Brother thanks for at least condemning the killings but you are not making any sense, what civilized way do you expect them to agitate, sit at home and chant or protest? Please stop calling this biafran issue a political motivated one, my cousin supports Biafra, my friend who is from warri supports the calls for Biafra, does it mean he was paid? No! It is an ideology. I'm tired of this political jargon each time Biafran issues are discussed. When afenifere threatened to secceed, did you call it PDP motivated or political motivated? No!

Pls and pls, this people did nothing wrong, moreover it was in a compound, a fuc.king closed compound!!! How on earth did they disturb anybody's peace. For all I know, **** I can't be in a country where I'm hated because I'm Igbo and I can't keep quiet because I'm not involved. Tomorrow (God forbid) it could be someone close to me that may be killed.

Thanks for condemning the killings tho, unlike those demons that are happy about it.
My friend, you may be a Biafra agitator but not well schooled in Biafra history. Do your research very well.

Biafra started not from the collective and conscious decision of all the easterners but from the selfish desire of few people who deceived and forced others to join them.

Now lets look at the two leaders led their people through war and violent agitation paths -

Ojukwu, started the self determination agitation in a wrong footing and millions of innocent people died in a war that should have been avoided. The igbos were the greater loser at the end.

Kanu, this young man with great ideas but wrongly channeled. He started on a wrong footing, threatening to destroy and annihilate the country (sorry the zoo as he calls it) and her people.

Who are the people being killed now?

You claimed these people didn't do anything wrong, they were protesting in an enclosed compound, isn't it? Yes you're right, they all gathered within a fenced compound, but the compound is a public school and the school was in session. So that alone is wrong.

Bros, if people are deceiving me, I won't deceive myself. When Afenifere group threatening to cede from Nigeria, the Yorubas asked questions, and made them realized that they are not speaking for the Yorubas but for their pockets. Where is the Afenifere now, it has gone into oblivion because they put self before others.

The igbos can achieved their self determination desire but must be done within the ambit of the prevailing laws, internationally recognized and accepted way, and collectively people driven. IPOB, leaders should read how Gandhi galvanized the Indians to achieve independence thrown a non violence mean.

Finally, Nigerian security agencies need to be schooled on how to break up a protest without lose of lives and properties. Unarmed protesters should not be shot at with live bullets, rubber bullets should have been used.
PoliticsRe: Video Of Shooting And Killing Of IPOB Peaceful Protesters By Nigerian Army..Aba by adeyemik:
It is a shame to shoot at unarmed and defenseless people with live bullets. There are other humane ways to negotiate and disperse peaceful and unarmed protesters without sniffing life out of any person. RIP to those killed.

However, it is important for protesters and their leaders to apply wisdom when protesting. When the protesters saw the first two police guys walking into the school, it should have send a message to them that they need to disperse and reconvene another time to avoid confrontation.

Secondly, a senior police officer was seen in the video talking to one the protesting leaders. He was probably telling him to tell his co-protesters to disperse and leave the school premises, but the officer's plead was probably ignored. The bible says that when King Herod, sought to kill Jesus, God to Joseph and Mary to go with
baby Jesus to Egypt. Not that God could not sniff life out of Herod for seeking to kill the Messiah, God told them to go, so that what has been written could be established. Same goes for Elijah, when Jezeebel sought to kill him, God to him to flee. Not that Elijah could not call down fire from heaven to consume Jezeebel, but God has a purpose for telling him to do that. Those pray and praising God should have apply God's wisdom and the lose of human lives would have been avoided.

You can only ignore such plead in Europe and the U.S., not in Nigeria. Ignore at your own peril. The

Thirdly, the protesters choice of location was wrong. Carrying out a protest in a public school while students were there and classes were in session was a bad choice. Didn't they realised that they were putting the lives of the students at risk for choosing to protest within the school premises.

Fourthly, there are more constructive and civilised ways to agitate for self determination that are potent, less expensive, people involving and internationally accepted. The IPOB leadership need to explore these alternatives and stop calling out people to protest on the streets, highways and other public places. The Scottish sought for independence from Britain without the lose of a single soul. IPOB should take a clue from that.

Lastly, has any country in Africa (South Sudan and Eritrea) country that sought for and got her right for self determination fared better or worse? My igbo brothers need to answer this question objectively before joining the protesters train. South Sudan with all the huge oil deposits the country for got from Sudan, the country is still in crisis - leadership wahala, lack of development and war. It is important to ask for the cost before you buy it.

Don't allow selfish politicians to use you for their political ambitions.

Funny enough, except for the girl that received the compliment, others guys involved are in termite 1, (meaning year 1). The girl may be in termite 2 (year 2). If these knock heads gets to be in termite 5, they will be killing innocent citizens for walking on the same street or going to the same market with them. They need to face the consequence of their action.
PoliticsRe: Female Army Cadet Tortures A Man For Calling Her "Beautiful" by adeyemik: 11:06am On Feb 03, 2016
I once had the opportunity to meet an US Marine officer in the lift, as I stepped into the lift, he said, Morning sir and Morning ma to the lady that entered next. I was surprise at his conduct, when the lift came to a stop, he allowed others to step out before coming out. I'm sure if it were to be a Nigerian Soldier, he might probably would have told us to wait for the next lift cycle, that he has commandeer this lift to himself.

These cadets need and must face serious disciplinary punishment. What is wrong with "you're beautiful or fine compliment"? The other day, it took the intervention of the governor of Lagos to stop the manhandling of an hawker by two off session cadets because he scratch their car.

Its totally absurd to hear one of them saying they (cadets) are in NDA because of him (us). The knock heads forgot that without the sweat of others they won't get paid.

The military and the NDA management must punish those clowns.

RomanceRe: My Fiancee Is Having A Crush On Another Guy. by adeyemik:
Op, it is time for you to move forward. Pick up yourself, fine-up and your woman/wife will come your way.

I had similar experience some years ago, we met at the library while preparing for our professional exams, then she was in ND 2, while I was gainfully employed. I told my folks that she was the girl I'm going to marry and ready to wait. I made it a self assigned duty to see her Atleast once in a week either in school or at her parent's.

Waited 3 good years, then it happened. 2nd semester HND 2, I discovered that her attitude towards me wasn't welcoming and it became a fast food type of discussion. Anytime I asked her what the problem was for the cold receptions am getting from her, she would replied by saying, she's going through some stress and having some issues with some of her courses. When I asked her to share the course challenges with me, she would tell me not to mind that she was capable of handling them. It got to a time that I couldn't bear it again and coupled with the pressure coming from some concerned quarters, especially my colleagues in the office and their marriage dey come, dey come yabis.

After close of work on that very Thursdays evening, I drove to her school, she said, she had something she wants to tell me, I said, am listening, then she told me, she does not see anything coming out of this relationship, that she has to tell me so that I won't continue to waste my time. That day I felt like dying, this na one chance. I told her she was joking, so it means I have wasted 3 solid years waiting. I asked her what have I done? I no fine reach? She said nothing. I told her, I will give her time to reconsider her decision, maybe truly, na the stress dey send wrong signal.

I left her school, managed to drive back home safely. The following day when I got to the office, my colleagues discovered that wasn't myself, I was absent minded, mistakes here and there. I was forced to tell them what transpired between my girl and I. I was advised to give her some space that she would come back, truly she might be going through some challenges she does not want me to know. I yielded to their advice, stated away from her for about 4 weeks. I went back to her after the 5th weeks with the hope that she would have reconsidered her stance, but she maintained the same position. Right there, I thanked her for giving the opportunity to know her, her lovely family, friends, and I wish her all the best in life.

Entered my car and drove off. I fell sick, recovered and picked up my life again and moved forward with the help of my parents and friends.

Fast forward to 8 years later, I met her elder sister, brought back old memories, at the tail end of our chatting, I asked about her sister, her family, how many kids she has now, where is she and so on. Of a sudden, she said, she is still single and still lives in their parents house. She said, at a particular time the family was looking for me, because when her issue was taken to their pastor, the pastor said, she had hurt someone seriously in the past, she need to go find the person, apologize and beg the person seriously. That the family zeroed me to be the person because after me she hasn't brought any other man to present to them as her fiance.

I told her there that I have forgiven and forgotten everything she did, and peradventure, I'm holding her in my mind, heart or anywhere I release her. And I prayed for her.

Fast forward to last year 2015 which was 14 years of our parting ways, I met her, she is still single, her beauty has diminished. During out discussion, she was trying to justify reason(s) for telling me it was over. I told her it is all in the past, I'm happily married with kids. I encourage her, to be open minded, she should not be married to her work, she should find time to relax, not be choosy, and most importantly pray that God should send her husband to her.

OP, that's my experience, if she says, she is not interested again, pick up your life and move forward.

PoliticsIs The Hope For Small Scale Farmers In Nigeria by adeyemik(op): 9:44am On Jan 19, 2016
Is there hope for small scale farmers in this country? This question kept coming on and on, with no answer in sight. The government keep reiterating the need to diversify the economy; move away or reduce our reliance on oil revenue to something far more greater - Agriculture. Sincerely, the government desire to make agriculture a major revenue earner will be a mirage, if policies are not put in place to help the small scale farmers to grow to become a medium scale, and the medium to become a big or super scale farmer.

We delved into small scale farming recently. I and two guys (these two guys are currently doing their PHD programme in agriculture), we acquired a 3 acres land space (outright purchased) for this purpose, build a pen that would accommodate atleast 3500 birds and a farm house for the attendants. Started the poultry with over 3000 day old chicks with less than 2% mortalities recorded from October last year till date. We planted 1000 plantain suckers (bought from IITA) and 1000 yam ridges. Thanks to God and the expertise of all the people involved.

We desired an expansion especially for the birds, and estimated that with 5 Million Naira, we should be able to achieve our goals concerning the expansion. Everybody's saving has been expended on the current project and decided to approach a bank for a very short term facility. By short term facility, I mean paying back the principal and interest within 7 to 8 months. It was estimated with pay from their PPs plus my salary, we should be able to pay back 800k per month even at 20% interest rate.

We approached two of the banks - F bank and Z Bank for a 5M facility from the CBN agriculture loan or a personal loan (Loan to be collateralized), but couldn't get a positive response or result from either of them. Z Bank, told us that they target audience of the CBN loan are medium and big time farmers, having not less than 10000 birds, gave a lot of other excuses that are totally unacceptable. Secondly, Z Bank says that it can't has stopped given personal loan to people. As regards F Bank, we were told that they are awaiting the new management policies on loans qualification criterias, however, even if we meet all the pre-requisite qualifications, the fact that none of us have a six months operational bank account with the bank, we are not qualified for any loan.

If the quest of the government to make agriculture a major revenue earner for the nation is to see the light of the day, conscious steps must be taken to make small scale farmers access to loan facilities, else, there is no hope for young and small scale farmers got to survive and succeed in this country.

In our case, we have committed close 10 Million naira on the project without seeing or getting any return(s) at the moment. three people (2 attendants and a security man) are on our monthly pay and four other auxiliary guys that we call upon frequently to help in doing one thing or the other. Yet, to access facility that we help move the farm forward is been made unreachable and impossible for those without godfathers/mothers.

Which way for the young farmers, Nigeria?

PoliticsBIAFRA: Release Kanu Or Heavens Will Strike, Cleric Tells Buhari by adeyemik(op): 6:50pm On Dec 28, 2015
Following the agitation by members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and continued detention of Biafra Radio Director, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Security, DSS, a renowned cleric, Prophet Anthony Nwoko of the Church of God, weekend called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure Kanu’s immediate release or Heaven will fall.

Prophet Nwoko when he addressed a crowded press conference at the end of a Prayer Summit organised by 24 pastors in Enugu, with the theme ‘Possessing the land,’ said: “I cannot find any clean political leader from the South East. The governors are selfish, self centered, and have never pursued any action that will uplift the overall well-being of Igbo nation.”

Prophet Nwoko also urged the President to urgently release the detained leader of IPOB as it was an act of injustice to detain a man who did not commit any crime.

“Buhari must release Nnamdi Kanu with immediate effect, otherwise the heavens will strike,” he said.

He challenged religious leaders in the South East geopolitical zone to “step forward now and fulfil God’s mandate for the Igbo nation.

“The religious leaders saw the glory in the country but could not deliver the message to the nation, the judgment will be upon them for denying Christ, his glory. I was spiritually crowned for the nation and the world and was sent on a special mission for the glory of God.

“They should allow this light to materialize, if not crisis will overrun the nation as a whole, Prophet Nwoko is a chosen prophet, Igbos should seek for the prophet. The truth is finally here, but Nigeria finds it difficult to believe, the nation refuses to recognize the presence of the anointed saviour of the world because of tribalism,” he insisted.

On the way forward for the nation, the Cleric said that the earlier the country returned to God the better. “The nation has gone against God’s will, they hide the truth about Jesus because of what they will eat, the spirit has advised Nigerians to crown the king of this nation for the world to bear witness of the second coming of the Holy One.”

Dino Melaye need to ask for forgiveness from God for misinforming Nigerians on the NGN25 billion pay out. I wonder why a serving senator would fail to authenticate information at his disposal before desecrating the floor of hallow chamber with lies. And to those who consumed his pit of hell story hookline and sinker, without establishing whether it was true or false, only to start shouting corruption! corruption!!, you guys need to ask God and Nigerians for forgiveness.

Firstly, it is a pity we have a serving senator in the name of Dino Melaye, would like to score cheap political point by misinforming Nigerians. I wonder what type of nonsense bill such type of senator will present in the house. Our senators can lie.

Secondly, TSA has been in operation for the past five years. All the banks including CBN, and few ministries such as ministry of works, housing etc has been using this platform for their collections. TSA was not the baby of the present government, it was initiated by GEJ administration.

Thirdly, When this idea was muted 5 years ago, it was agreed by the office of the accountant general, CBN and the platform provider, that for every collections, a service charge of 1% of such collection. The service charge so accrued will be shared by the three parties involved - CBN, OAGF and the platform provider. For payments, the service charge will be NGN100 for every payment made through the remita platform.

Fourthly, When the government, announced that NGN2.5 trillion public sector funds with the commercial banks had been mopped up and moved to CBN. The transfers of the funds were moved to CBN through a platform called Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). This is a medium used by all the commercial banks and CBN to transfer funds to and from each other. So the movement of the 2.5 trillion was not through remita platform. Furthermore, the funds transfer to CBN is not a collection or revenue, so the 1% service charge rule never applies.

Fifthly, With the new government directive that all MDAs' collections and disbursements must go through the remita platform, the 1% collection service charge earlier agreed to by the CBN, OAGF and the platform provider during the GEJ era has been suspended. It being renegotiated, as well as the NGN100 service charge on all payment that through the remita platform.

Finally, it is very important for us to always authenticate and confirm every information at our disposal before reeling them out. Dino Melaye, wants to use this news for cheap political gains, it is quite unfortunate we have their likes in the senate.

God help this nation.

Peaceful agitation of self determination should be biafra proponents hallmark. Calling for violence or arm struggle will do no one any good. Lets take a clue from Iraqi, Syria, South Sudan etc, where violence agitations has reduced the country to a grave yard and untold hardship to those lucky to be alive.

It is the beginning of violence or war one can know, the result/outcome and end cannot be predicted.

Car TalkRe: Required Atf Needed For Servicing The Gearbox Of Toyota Venza 2010 Model by adeyemik: 8:27am On Sep 26, 2015
Toyota Venza transmission fluid is not to be changed frequently. The change of the fluid should be at every 100,000km. Venza has a sealed transmission that requires little or no maintanence. However, if you want to change the transmission fluid, it has to be done by an expert and in a well equipped workshop.

Don't be deceived or carried away by the various marketers out to sell their fake or adulterated transmission fluid in Nigeria. Make serious research about the transmission oil you're buying or else, you will become an ATM machine to your mechanic.

I strongly recommend you try buying your recommended transmission fluid from the US, after doing proper research.

Go to www. AutoZone.com supply you car details by that I mean - Make, year, engine type or size. It will give you the list of recommended transmission fluid for your brand and year of car.

Rottweiler and Bingo are dogs. One is a high end priced breed and the other one is low end priced dog. Infact, you can pick a bingo right on the street and take it home for free.

The creation model of the two dog are the same but there are distinctive attributes that differentiates the two dogs.

OP, you can pump up a bingo, give it all the dietary supplements and high rich proteineous food, it will still be priced low at the market because it is Bingo. Whereas, a Rottweiler that has been on 7 days dry fast would be priced high than the bingo.

Op, you've failed to tell your audience why low end Chinese phone have not been allowed into European and American market except for Huawei? The reason is simple - Quality! Quality!! Quality!!! and the attending health hazards.

It is wrong to use only those thing you can see or told - (phone specs) to compare phone, there are other things that are not obvious to you, that's what the known brands are selling, and why a low specs known brand would be more expensive than a high specs Chinese brand.

OP, a brand new 2015 Chinese brilliance car with a the features of a Toyota Camry 2014, will always be priced lower than a tokunho 2010 Toyota Corolla. The difference is QUALITY.

What is the Yoruba name for Igbo? It is Igbo.

Igbo in English means Marijuana or Cannabis.

Medical researchers discovered recently that Marijuana does not shrink the brain of users of the substance, rather it changes their brain structure. http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/marijuana-doesnt-shrink-brains-it-can-change-them-studies-find-n416466

So it seems the brain structure of this poster has been rewired, giving rise to this nonsense post.
PoliticsWhen You Wrestle With A Pig - Fashola by adeyemik(op): 7:19am On Aug 14, 2015
“When you wrestle with a pig, the pig gets happy and you get dirty.”

This statement of profound wisdom informed my silence in the wake of manipulated and unsubstantiated allegations of wrongdoing recently being levelled against me. They started a few weeks to the end of my tenure, and have continued till date.

They range from allegations of extra marital paternity of children, to mundane and phantom conspiracy in the National Assembly, a debt profile for Lagos State and lately a website upgrade contract of N78 million, which is being distorted.

In so far as the allegations of paternity are concerned, they are wicked and false.

I have no biological children other than my two children. Of course, I adopted three children who became orphaned as a result of the tragic DANA Airplane crash of 2012 and the adoption followed due process.

Those who do not care whether they hurt innocent children or invade the privacy of other citizens in their mindless rage against me will have their rewards served upon them in the fullness of time. As far as my alleged involvement in the National Assembly elections are concerned, they remain only the products of the imagination of those who made the allegations.

I was out of the country at the material time and returned only in the early hours of that morning to Abuja, and from there proceeded to Lagos. As far as debts of Lagos State are concerned, the fact is that Lagos had always had debts. Her population is growing and for a long time she has run deficit budgets to cater to the needs of that growing population.

All the debts contracted in my time were approved by the Parliament in the annual budgets, some have been paid back and the financial status was healthy and stable when I left. The outlook for the state and her rating by Fitch was long-term foreign and local currency IDRs at ‘BB-‘, short-term IDR at ‘B’ and national long-term rating at ‘AA+(nga)’.

When we all pause to reflect and think ,we will realise that there are a sizable number of companies who are running business, who have no responsibility for Security, Public Health, Public Education and other responsibilities of Government, who borrow more than Lagos State Government, whether collectively or individually. As far as the website contract is concerned, yes there was a contract. It went through procurement and was approved by the Government agency authorised to do so.

One of the services was an “upgrade” quoted for N12.5 million but awarded for N12 million. There were other services that were new; like a handover countdown clock, mobile Apps for Google, for IOS and ipad, for Microsoft, and for Research in Motion (Blackberry), which the existing website did not have, as well as the annual maintenance cost for managing the website.

It was for all these services that the contract was issued for N78 million, which the Lagos State procurement agency gave a No Objection based on the advice of the Ministry of Science and Technology, who are the Government adviser on ICT matters. In publishing this Contract award which was the Government tradition under my watch, the procurement agency’s website summarised it as “upgrade” only without detailing the other services and this has been distorted by the agents of hate as their suspected “smoking gun”.

For those who are familiar with mobile Applications, they will know that users either pay for them online or download them for free. What is usual is that applications for service are usually provided to users free, but somebody bears the cost. Since these applications were to be made available to the public for free access and to assist Government communication, we decided to pay for them. The entire documents are with the Lagos State Government and are available for those who seek the truth.
For the record, since 2008, long before the Freedom of Information Act was ever passed, we had put out all our contracts on the State website because I believe people deserve to know. It is regrettable that a “summary” of the contract has been deliberately distorted to misinform the public. This particular website came into being as a result of the decision I made to make my telephone number public for the several thousands of people seeking to reach me daily.

The website that is now under attack helped me to do my job and to respond to citizens, and the contract was issued to run till my last day of office. It stands logic upside down for to “fraudulently” award a contract and then have it published on a website. To date, there have been 27.666 million hits on this website, with 1,844 videos, 34,381 photographs, 2,531 Press Releases and 595 Speeches, among other items of public communication.

I have chosen to make this personal response because as the head of government at the time of the transaction, the buck as they say stops on my desk and also because of the many calls, text messages and mails coming from many people seeking clarification and to prevent fiction from being mistaken for truth. I expect that there may be more distorted allegations without evidence, for reasons that remain in the realm of speculation, because, I have been informed reliably that large amounts of money are being paid to some of these agents to bear false witness.

I cannot conclude without responding to the crusade of CACOL and their ilk, seeking my prosecution on allegations that have no proof and writing “pre-emptive” letters to the Presidency. In case they are unaware, I am not looking for a job. I expect them to know that allegations of wrong doing are not resolved without evidence, neither are they resolved in press conferences.

I have served my state, and by extension, my country for Twelve and half years and I did so with my heart. I am taking the rest that I believe I have earned. For those who still wish to remain in the mud, they should look in the mirror. For those who wish to throw mud at me, they should look at their own hands. As for me, I have moved on. My job is done.

PoliticsEmbarking on inter-state traveling? Nigeria Police may ask for these Documents. by adeyemik(op):
Nigeria police may demand for any document if you're stopped on the highway just to extort money from you. Nigerians, especially married couples that are embarking on inter-state traveling are strongly advised to have handy the the photocopy of their marriage certificate or a old and recent pictures of you and your wife, if you don't have marriage certificate, because Nigeria police may demanding for such document to confirm that the man or woman in your car is your wife or husband, not a kidnapped person. And if you're going with your child or children, please go along with the birth certificate and a recent picture of you and the child(ren) because Nigeria police may demand for it.

And if you're not married, it is either you get a "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN" letter from your 'to-be' in-laws, signed off by a Divisional Police Officer, confirming that you're a known person, and the parent of your fiancé or fiancée have given you the permission to travel with their son or daughter. Or you line your pocket with sufficient Naira notes, because Nigeria police may ask you for the parent’s consent letter to travel with their son or daughter.
