ocelot2006:
Correction: These scorpions are the FIRST vehicles/equipments purchased by the Buhari administration. With the exception of the 12 MRAPs donated by the American Army, EVERY new equipment/weapons currently in use from firearms (Beryl rifles, Tavor TAR 21s, Galil Aces, FN FS2000s, FN P90s, etc) to vehicles (REVA Mraps, Bigfoots, T72A1 and M1 series MBTs, BTRs, Streit Spartans MK2s and 3s, Toyota Landcruisers, BVPs, etc), aircrafts (new Mi-35M, Mi-24, Augusta 109s, repaired C-130s and G-333s, the Maritime Recon ATR-48, 2 Alphajets E, Army Air Corps Gazelle Scout helos, and the E-125s, etc) and drones (UAVs and UCAVs) where ALL PURCHASED AND DELIVERED under GEJ's watch, NOT Buhari.

STICK TO THE TRUTH.
Very very wrong.
In between payment and receipt of some of these arms, there were periods of serious shortfall that the Buhari government had to intervene. The supplementary budge5 of 2015 was done to pay for these.

In any case all these weapons you listed are not up to 150million dollars and GEJ spent at least 10 billion on defence and security in three years, where is all the money gone?

Try that in America and you will see SWAT

If the Secret Service tells POTUS not to go somewhere, he does not ever go. Buhari could have visited I go island easily and went back safe but it would have had to be like a conqueror not a President.

For you though you can enjoy the consolation prize of abusing the President but it is completely of no effect to what he is doing and what he will do.

Kudos to your contributions as a patriotic citizen of this great nation. Let me tell you your opinion will trigger a lot aggressive agitation and could possibly burn out to uncontrollable war further away from their region to the whole country. As offshore worker, I can tell you with my experience that our Navy cannot manage our coastguard. These navies are 80 percent young man who does not even have marine elementary personal survivals techniques talkless of hunting enemy. Let Buhari gives Jonathan open arms of friendship and total sense of belonging to this govt I can assure you that Tompolo will definitely control those our biggest brothers. A word is enough for the wise!
This is a simple capacity issue. I don't understand this level of thinking. What does all this have to do with anything?.

Is it the militants that are so good at what they do?. Rubbish.
The Nigerian n Navy , Army and NAF have the highest quality manpower in Nigeria outside the oil industry.

Nigerians have elevated settlement to high art and they can do anything for money, that is why anyone could suggest negotiating with Tom Polo. When you do that you are inspiring criminals.
Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Decisively Defeat Niger Delta Avengers. by Adminisher: 1:25pm On Jun 03, 2016
Donjazzy12:
First off, Niger Delta Avengers is a creation of Tompolo tacitly supported by Jonathan. The whole idea is to force Buhari to come to the negotiation table and FG to abandon the legitimate case of graft it has against them.
PROS: If Buhari succumbs to this blackmail, the fight against corruption dies a natural death, militants becomes policy makers etc.Pipelines are safe.
CONS: If he fails to succumb, bombing of pipelines continue.
In a nutshell, this is what he must do.
1, Declare state of emergency in the affected LGA's. Push 80% of our Naval assets and some Helicopter gunships there. 2, Borrow from China to run budget for two years. 3, Never acknowledge or ever grant further amnesty to them. 4 Make an announcement anyone who habors Tompolo or any Avenger will have their houses demolished.
Watch as the idiotic militancy dies down in less than a year.
This is the same solution I have been canvassing.
The NDA has supporters who have been trying to confuse issues and asking for I'm possibilities.
Who told the IDIOTS that Buhari has the authority to negotiate away Nigerias sovereignty?.
Very young stupid fools
Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Decisively Defeat Niger Delta Avengers. by Adminisher: 1:18pm On Jun 03, 2016
First of all we have to use our BRAINS.
NDA is not winning. A child who continues to throw his meals on the floor instead of eating is not winning against his parents.

NDA is doing Eco-terrorism and trying to force sovereignty from that. It is a very very easy problem.

FG should tell all oil companies to evacuate for one year and go after all the terrorists with full force. The idea that you cannot use force kills itself when you show the will that you don't negotiate sovereignty because of oil.
After that, you begin to bombard and kill the miscreants. Very simple. We can divert all budgeted monies to the ND for this.
You have to show madness. Nigeria is NEVER going to negotiate territory after fighting a bitter civil war that killed 3 million people. Anybody who has problems with Fulani people can go and sort it out on a tribe by tribe basis but Nigeria remains

Finally Buhari's acquires equipment for the military after one in office
This is very ignorant of you, Buhari has bought many batches of equipment since he came into office. He has also ensured that all equipment ordered by the Jonathan regime are delivered accurately as per contract terms. Always fingers out the truth.

As for these vehicles, it is a mistake to have bought them as a component of base defence. We should have modified a locally assembled vehicle and asked the company to rig it up with the same equipment that receive the signals from control rooms when the Base defence CCTV detect intruders

There will be no more distraction from oil production. Let the MILITARY NOW DO THEIR JOBS

That's is the international standard for military river craft. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, US, Russia all have shallow water craft following that design. Sri Lanka defeated a set of militants more powerful than Boko Haram and this new fake NDA using this same design of boats.

Unfortunately, I doubt the show of force will achieve much. Soft targets like pipelines run through inaccessible and indefensible parts of the delta. Even the pipelines that run through the more urban SW are routinely vandalised by Creek rats.
If only the country had shown more seriousness in defending other sectors of the economy like the vigor they are showing with oil.
Why are you talking like this?
The militants are operating from new camps that can be detected from.the air. Some are in nearby communities to oil installations. They need to get on a boat and travel back to whatever. That is 30 minutes at the least.
It takes an Alpha jet just 15minutes to get to the area from PHC. So after a bombing just draw a circle on a map and send two jets to blow things out of the water.
If you combine the airforce and Naval / Army elements even better.

Politics › Re: The Avengers : Why Gun Boat Will Not Work. by Adminisher: 3:42am On Jun 02, 2016
Why is there so much ignorance in Nigeria? Also so much intellectual laziness. Guerilla warfare is dead. It died in the 80s. Also the idea that the Niger Delta terrain is a big mystery to the Nigerian Army, Navy and Nigerian Airforce is a big ERROR. What is mysterious about a region that has 6 big multinational companies.

Soldiers and other security agencies have been operating there for decades. I have interacted with many northern soldiers in the Niger Delta sinice 1989.

Generals like Danjuma, Abacha, Obj and many others cut their teeth in the area. In fact two of the ones I just mentioned had loads of girl friends in the area in the 70s. These people are so familiar with the ND and it's people that they were the ones who put names of Rivers indigenes forward for appointment during the military regimes. Atiku as well- very familiar with the ND.

As for terrain, all satellies maps and air surveillance on the Niger Delta show up more clearly to the military than Sambisa forests.

The resort to violence by NDA is a very great mistake and the single out of Chevron facilities for destruction is the mistake if the century.
Buhari made two strategic visits to Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea last month, the US is now on board with defence intelligence, the NAF will soon get more surveillance and precision strike gadgets and Security and Civil Defence NSCDC had its budget tripled in 2016 .
All the pieces are in place.

Now lets face it.... Nigeria as we know it have gone to the dogs. Balkanization is imminent unless we salvage it through True Federalism.
Maybe Buhari is the man needed to help grind Nigeria to a halt where True federalism becomes attractive to hard sworn opponents.

Who in his right senses would ever think force would restore crude production in the Niger Delta. Both History and common sense has proven its impossible to increase oil production in the face of insurgency. Even the major oil companies cannot continue production amidst explosions and crossfires. The more Buhari mobilizes warships, gunboats and military to the region, the more the IOCs evacuates their personnel and services from the region.

What is so hard about understanding that there is no hope for a united Nigeria without True Federalism? What is wrong with the black man?
The funny enough things is that enough force will restore crude oil production in Niger Delta. Please take it from me that i know what i am talking about. Extreme force, intense poverty and suffering will restore sanity there. It is just that it should be applied in stages.

Today: they increase fuel price
Yesterday: We won't privatize refineries.
Yesterday: We will privatize refineries by December
etc etc

And now.....

Yesterday: We will make 1 naira equal to 1 dollar
Today: We won't devalue the Naira at 199Naira to 1 dollar
Tomorrow: We will devalue Naira (flexible forex)

This government is the most clueless and confused government ever in the history of Nigeria
****
You are also grossly inexperienced in anything.
What the government is doing is called strategic agility. The oil market has crashed, that is a static reality but there are other constantly changing events like the quantity of oil we are actually selling, the price of the fuel we are importing , the weak exports etc. C. Everything is constantly changing and very fast. Under those conditions you just don't sit tight, besides the MPC and exchange rates are CBN issues that the FG usually does not interfere with.
Politics › Re: FG To Invest In Hydro, Solar For Better Power Supply by Adminisher: 4:46pm On May 24, 2016
Tuktuk:
my point exactly. solar panels are very expensive. we have enormous coal deposits in enugu and other places what is wrong with building coal fired plants like most or all developed nations? they preach climate change but practice that in reality. Nigerian Government should do as they do not as they say.
secondly id because of pipeline vandalization the government is thinking of diversifying our energy sources, then we are in a sorry state. why dont the Government find a lasting solution to that problem while we continue to harness other sources. that i think is what a serious minded and proactive government does.
finally the decision to build generating plants right where the energy source is,is a welcomed development, however the unity and interdependency of different parts of this country should be put into consideration in all of this. this is what makes Nigeria a nation.
x

So many calculations are showing coal fired plants more expensive than solar because you have to fluidize the coal to burn properly and then after burning you have to install expensive flue gas treatment to meet Kyoto accords.
If you start investing in solar however, I am quite sure the US and Europe will pay up to half of it if we know what grants to tap

Every state has a right to allow or deny herdsmen access to her territory.
Not all herdsmen are evil but one has to be careful. When boko haram started, northerners treated these issues with kid gloves until it started to torment them. They knew the members but protected them until they became uncontrollable. As far as I'm concerned, Northerners grew, groomed and nourished boko haram.
Here in the south we will not tolerate any act of terrorism especially from the north. We have our own issues to deal with.
They ask why we reacted differently to the kidnap of amina and ese ? The answer is simple;
Northern terrorists kidnap their northern schoolgirls in their northern territory and we Southerners can only show our concern(#bringbakourgirls ) and caution the north.
Northern assholes kidnap southern girls from southern territory and we will in orubebe's words , not take it.
States which can monitor the herdsmen can let them roam. If fayose cannot guarantee the security of his state from herdmen, he has every right to ban them from the on set to avoid stories that touch. people learn from their mistakes but smart people learn from other's mistakes.
No state can ban cattle herdsmen or any Nigerian. You can regulate them and arm hunters for self protection of communities with Police oversight but you cannot ban herdsmen

IGNORAMUSES

These gun boats are very capable. They are refurbished for engine power and gunnery calibre upgrade. The very thick fibre glass hulls will stop .50 calibre munitions and self seal. They won't stop RPGS but the a good boat Driver will maneuver to prevent direct hits.
Most NA gun boats also have fore and aft mounting of 12.7mm machine guns and a few grenade launchers.

Operational tactics is evolving to emphasise convoy boat movement with helicopters keeping watch from miles away.

No Niger Delta militant group can match the NA in terms of resources. We have not even started of Navy SBS operations that you won't even see until they are blowing you away. They will watch you singing songs in your camp with night vision Googles and keep tabs. Niger Delta militants are good in water abi? What about people who come from under water and can call on surface and air elements to blast you away?.

Agreed about DanBazzau. The NSCDC is under him but there is still pipeline bombing. His budget is the third highest yet we are not seeing action on securing borders or regulating cattle herdsmen. They need to be properly registered, given entry passes and designated routes so that they don't stray unto farmlands. This is MEND a Niger Delta militant group saying the truth about Jonathan's government. Jonathan himself h8nted at the corruption of his own government before he left office.

It is very important for PDP supporters to come to terms with hard truth about Jonathan. He was Clueless and Corrupt, very lax with defence and security and lack8ng leadership skills. When the truth stares you in the face you adm8t it. It does not give the APC any advantage to blast Jonathan. If anything it rebrands the PDP and makes the issue one of one person and his clique instead of corruption being a party ideology. This is how they manage election defeat in advanced countries
