Pastors can also be called professionals in their own fields. And you know that many people rely unquestioningly on pastors for a lot of things. We atheists also rely on doctors unquestioningly in medical matters. Even when their prescriptions don't work, we still go back to them. What makes us different from the christians?

I have often wondered why we put our faith in doctors even though they are very similar to pastors.
What brought about this faith? We have proofs everyday of doctors misdiagnosing and even prescribing drugs they know little about. They just trust what the pharmaceutical companies tell them, just as pastors trust what the bible tells them. But we still believe in whatever they tell us and swallow chemicals everyday just because a doctor said so. How are we different from people that go hungry all day because a pastor told them to?

The fact that logicboy decided to come out with this letter portrays him as one who is trully concerned about the terrible situation in Nigeria as regards religious extremism.

If you are concerned that this will have a negative effect on your perceived goals of eliminating religion, I will say your fears are unfounded cause this has the tendency of making those who "sit on the fence" listen more to logicboy when he speaks against religion.

I do hope we come to realise that religion is "bad" because people are bad. The sooner we get people to be good the sooner we can boast of the goodness of religion.

'the poor out of the dust' is metaphor because the dust 'directly used here is not real dust' same with 'the beggar from the dunghill' paralleled with 'pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them'

world upon them is metaphor. it should have been 'the earth upon the pillars'

or can you briefly give us the meaning of earth and world for more clarification!

And yes, the manner of my response will depend on your religion because I have noticed that the brain wiring of people are related to their belief systems. So you have to explain things differently to different people if you do not wish to be misunderstood.
