ojking273: Hi all....please I want to ask if anyone can refer me to any recognized IELTS agent in lagos and how much it costs. I look forward to your replies.... Many thanks.
Guy, don't go thru any agent if you want to write IELTS.....DIYS(Do It Yourself). Google IELTS office in Lagos, the test is being organized by British Council, their office is on Island. Through their website, you would see available date for test and centres.

rhylord: Okay thanks for the candid advice, no one knows how it feels unless it happens to you. I will defer the admission and wait til April but also lay a complaint. I feel like God gave me something and took it back away from me.
Bro, i can feel your pains cause i was once in similar situation, that was in 2006 when i won an appeal for UK Visa, i was on my way to Ikeja that fateful Friday morning when i got a call that i should come to the UK Embassy with my passport on the following Monday to pick-up my UK Visa. On getting there, i was handed a paper to pick-up my Visa on Wednesday. Got there on Wednesday, they collected back the first paper and handed me another to come on Friday, was there on Friday and was asked again to come on Monday, getting there on Monday, i got the BOMB-Shell ever of my life, that they were sorry, they could not issue me the Visa. My Bro, don't blame God for anything, just have faith and keep trusting in Him cos he knows best, do what you are advised to do by the house and differ your admission ASAP.

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by aekmanweb(m): 9:40am On Dec 19, 2013
imperiouxx: Waste of money, resources, energy and detrimental to your application because you will tip them off on your plan of attending the CC not the uni.
@imperiouxx: I didn't mean i would use the CC admission for Visa application, only wanted to have their I-20 with me here in Nigeria prior to traveling to the States so that upon arrival in the U.S, i would just apply for transfer from the UNI to the CC because i wouldn't want to miss the semester. Is that a bad idea? Please, be candid and advice.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by aekmanweb(m): 5:27pm On Dec 18, 2013
Walspring: Nice write up and wonderful epistle but you made me speechless when you said your school is a community college.

Why dont u just apply to a university and after you get your visa and you get to obamaland you can then transfer to a community college?

I learnt that the chances of getting a visa with a community college I-20 is very very slim which is just less than 2% but anyway nothing wey God no fit do ooo

Lastly you need prayer and dry fasting if u are going to embassy with community college I-20
@walspring: Is it advisable to also apply for a community college alongside with the University one would use to apply for Visa, so that the transfer can take place as soon as one gets to the States or one should apply to the community college upon arrival? Which is best cause of possibility of acceptance to the college.....Kindly advice and other guru's.

ojooyelakin: You don't need to store anything to your head or brain before going for interview, what of if you suddenly forget what you keep to your brain? Then you are in soup...likely questions are why US? Why that course ? Why not other country ? Why not study it in nigeria ? Why that uni or college ? Why not others uni or college in State? Why undergraduate why not master program ? What do you know about the state or city you are going? Where is the state located in united state? Who is going to sponsor you? If your dad or mum you won't ask any further question except what your dad or mum do for a living ? But if your sponsor is your uncle, Aunty or cousin then you must be get ready for a lot of question to defend yourself but VO will want to know how your cousin or Aunty is going to benefit from you after school... Or does your cousin or Aunty don't have his/her children to take care of... Then don't forget to go with your transcript, waec ,neco certificate, do you have GRE exams (if yes show him if not tell him you don't have because it stated on your I-20 that you don't need it if stated in I-20 check it well before saying anything ) ,bank statement of your sponsor , what have you been doing since after your high school or college or uni? What are role in the organization you are working for? What should I be expecting from you after your program in state ( NB saying you will be coming home to Nigeria to work for blah blah blah organization is better idea... If all these practice within yourself before go for interview then next reply will be Thank You, take this ( pick up receipt ) to dhl office and pick up your visa after 4 days .... Ask yourself all these questions with honest and open mind then you will find your way in state ... I know most people will not go to the school but still yet ask yourself if truly am going to this school why did I choose this uni, why did I choosed USA, why not in nigeria ask yourself and answer it with honest mind then your way simple just walking to embassy like say you want to collect BB charger then you have it straight away!!!! Best of Luck
@ojooyelakin: Well said but not as easy as you thought.

jaskinbo: Hello again in the house......pls I want an answer to this question from :Pexperienced gurus here...." Can someone who got his visa approved after the deadline date on the i-20 be allowed entrance at POE in the state?"
Bro, I-20 is essential in Visa Application, if your I-20 elapses before your interview date, my 1kobo advise is for you to write your school for another admission date(i.e: next available admission semester) and that would automatically grant you another I-20.

JFK12: @house,am sorry this is coming late,I was at the Lagos embassy yesterday but my visa WAS NOT APPROVED.I was interviewed by a lady can't remember her counter number but she was wearing red top,so anyone at the embassy yesterday will the lady am talking, not that she is harsh but i messed up myself because i can sense she want to grant me the visa but lack of composure denied me.Transcript Below ...

Me: Gud Morning Ma
VO: Same

VO: Why this school?
Me: Rubbish (VO cut in with d question nd i start d rubbish again from d beginning)

VO: When dd u graduate?
ME: 2011

VO: What are you doing since then?
Me: Went for my nysc March 2012-March 2013

VO: What dd you during your nysc?
Me: I was posted to a secondary school where i teach English

VO: What dd you after your service?
Me: A month after my service i was employed at **** global publication firm,as an assistant editorial manager ( vo cuts in )

VO: Let me c your transcript ?
Me: Passed it to her

VO:dd you write Gre ?
ME: Gre wasn't a requirement to my field,i personally called the admission office and i was told gre is not a requirement but Toelf, which i did and pass

VO: how many schools dd you applied to and how many accepted you ?
Me: 4 named them and said 2 accepted me

VO: Return back to the first question ?
ME: nd i repeated my rubbish ( vo cuts in to stopped me and picked just one word out of all i said )

VO: sorry blah blah blah ....

NOTE: the interview doesn't sound well the way it does up there in written because my voice shaking truout,i broke all rules the house advise not to,i was resting on glass, not gesturing,no smiles etc Don't know what broke my confidence immediately i stood up from my seat to walk over to the VO,i wasn't afraid while i was sitting down and i believe my visa will be approved until i got to the counter and things changed.
I already paid another Visa fee this morning and looking for a date this December to try my luck again because i knew what i did wrong and i believe i can do it right by IN SHA ALLAHU.

Warning to those going for their interview soon: Pls don't cram or expect a certain question first, get ready for any question coming your way at time.
Bro, if by virtue of these excerpt, the VO's wanted to grant you the Visa by returning back to the first question asked. Not gonna blame you though similar thing happened to me but was not given the second chance. So, be well prepared on your next interview. Best of Luck dude!

Amefrica: Do you mean, you've been filling before or you want to retrieve the one u used for interview?

The later is not possible, you'll have to fill another one. The former can be retrieved and continue from where u stopped.

Hope this helps! smiley
Yes, am referring to the previous one i used for the interview that was denied Visa, if i should retrieve, edit and use for the coming interview or it is advisable to start completely a new DS-160 application.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by aekmanweb(m): 2:20pm On Dec 16, 2013
Amefrica: You can change, that's why you have to fill new forms each time ur going for interview. Just be consistent as possible.

Changes like from "Married" to "Single" can implicate you oo.

Success!
Obviously, am not going to alter any of those marital status, but a quick 1. Should i start a fresh DS-160 application or i could use my login details to edit whatever infos needed to be changed....what do u advise(New DS-160 or old DS-160)??
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by aekmanweb(m): 12:43pm On Dec 16, 2013

Yes, i have gone twice before, so u mean i shouldn't alter the previous infos on the DS-160 huh

nethacker: They understand what goes on in 9ja when it comes to our education system. they know it's hard to gain admission too. I had similar situation and I told the VO then that I was teaching on a part time basis just to solidify my knowledge of a particular subject. That's me; which may totally not work for you but I'll expect you to tell them something that will make them see you as being responsible.
Hi peepz (@nethacjer, Amefrica, @imperiouxx etc):I like to confirm once again if changing some infos on previous DS-160 has anything to do with the VO's getting to know what was on the previous and might probably be able to compare the current DS-160 form e.g: the kind of work my sponsor(my dad)does, my work experience and to add some ajasa join to make it sweet..lol

Amefrica: Bro, why you dey do this to yourself? Ok, answer this question; What's this course going to do for you?

Abi no be the same fashion design dem dey learn for my area? N20,000 for 2 years? The thing is ur course of study doesn't really concern VOs but why would you want to spend millions of naira in studying fashion design learning tailoring lipsrsealed

Please, I beg you in the name of God, do not go to the embassy with that I-20. I can assist you with my school and good course and guide you from A-Z.. There's a guy here that can bear me witness, he's going to my school, he got his VISA last month, with my help and God's..

YOUR CHANCES ARE VERY SLIM RIGHT NOW..

Thanks @nethacker. What abt presenting a 2011 GCE result when i had diploma in 2006, or should i just go with the '99 certificate ?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by aekmanweb(m): 7:34pm On Dec 13, 2013
Amefrica: Bro, lemme be straight with you. Age really doesn't matter when it comes to studying in US but it does if you haven't been doing any meaningful thing with ur life since you graduated high school.. When I say 'meaningful' I'm talking about attending any post secondary institution (let's say A'Level, OND).. And/Or been working etc etc
If you can show all these to the VO ur age will not count..

Travelling experience is/will never be a criteria to get VISA. It only adds to ur chances. Remember VISAs(F1) are issued on 3 reasons being fulfilled.. Which are:

Genuine student: This contains by writing standardised test(s), know abt ur school, course etc

Financially capable: you must show you have readily available funds to sponsor you in the university level. Bank statements, land docs/ proof of ownership of cars, buildings, these are optional tho. Bank statement would do

Return after studies: you must prove to the VO that you intend to come back after ur studies even if you won't. By this, you let them know ur what u intend to do after graduation and where you wish to work etc..

Hope my long epistle helps.. Goodluck in ur next interview..
Thanks alot, @Amefrica, @nethacker and the rest, yes i have OND...am just considering, the interval in between my academics. Let me start here, finished O'Levels '97, result incompleted at 1-seat (combined result with '99 Waec) though am thinking of using G.C.E of 2011 that i just made at a seat. Finished Diploma in Comp.Sci in 2006, and been working since then till date. What do you guys think about filling-in the academic gaps, please i need your candid advice some more.

We both paid at their office in Alimosho Primary School, Iyana Ipaja, should we proceed or not if truly the certificate is baseless?
